This is the WORST place I have ever stayed. The room service starts knocking on the door starting from 9 AM even on weekends. It was incredibly loud until 3AM downstairs with all those loud parties. The staff and front desk are very rude, not even saying "I'm sorry"once. They charged me 200 dollar per night because the university made the booking for me(they obviously got some rebates so it's much higher than the market price), and the front desk refuses to give me a price match. They also barred me from speaking to the manager. The room was never cleaned during the three day stay. Hilton brand is never my first choice and over the years I've just watched the entire chain go down hill. This stay definitely reinforced my opinion that they are second rate and couldn't care less. Sometimes you don't have a choice and the hotels know it. I was supposed to stay at another hotel a few days earlier but my sons apartment isn't finished being built( that's another nightmare) so I had to change my plans. Gainesville is not the easiest place to get a room when it's move-in week, football season or graduation. Most of the hotels were sold out so I thought I was lucky to find a room here for $250 a night. You know you're in trouble when the crappy hotels are charging $4-500 a night so Hampton Inn at 250 is a bargain. Not my hotel of choice but it was a necessity because my son had a meeting Friday at 8am. The hotel is located downtown, walking distance to plenty of restaurants. It has valet parking for $30 a day. You can try to park on the street, 2 hours free from 8-5 and chances are you won't find a spot for overnight. Just plan on the additional $30. When you enter the lobby is clean. I had checked in on the app so I bypassed the front desk. I wasn't expecting much and had no expectations. A clean room with a working shower was my only thought and even that wasn't fulfilled. The room was very dark and in need of a refurb. Upon first glance it looked ok. The air was set to 64 so the room was cold I turned it up to 67. In the middle of the night the room was musty. We were all up and just skeeved out. I try never to stay in a hotel with carpet but again no choice. In the morning I walked to the bathroom and my socks were wet. They must have cleaned the carpets before we arrived and the carpet was still wet hence the musty damp room. My son took a shower and the tub wouldn't drain. I went downstairs and was told an engineer would be at the hotel at 8:30 to look at it. Good thing I didn't need to be anywhere. The room included breakfast. There was no way I would eat at this hotel, but I did go grab a coffee and the area was clean and maintained. The gym was surprisingly clean too and it had a peloton. So public areas are clean.... rooms need some work ... maybe housekeeping should wipe down the chrome in the bathroom and polish the wood. But then again, they don't have to because it's a captive audience. Between the room and parking I dropped just under $300, checked my sleep app and got an 8 out of 100 for the night and now I know, if I ever have to do this again, I know where I will never stay again. read more

No frills & I mean absolutely no frills. Could be cleaner. The breakfast kind of sucks as far as Hampton Inn's go. Location is good, there's a bit of night life in the area so that is a plus as far as not needing to drive. Parking garage is next door & separate charge (which on the website states $22 parking fee but it's not collected by the hotel). Note the pool is TINY - with it being that small it should be cleaned more often, as there was a ton of debris. If you just want a bed to sleep in this is your spot but otherwise I'd stay elsewhere. read more

I walked in and asked the price of my reservation as I was not happy with the lobby-I.e. lack of any amenities such as nice lounge or bar. The woman at the reception was unfriendly- she later identified herself as the manager on duty I asked to see the room and it was dingy and smelled musty. I thought I might cancel so I asked and was told it would cost me $297 which was supposed to equal one night stay, although it was close to half of my 3 night stay. We walked over to a nearby hotel that was totally renovated with a beautiful lounge, breakfast area, and bar. The rooms were great, and $200 less! The staff was super friendly I decided to eat the $100 loss in order to enjoy my 3 night stay at a much nicer hotel. The whole vibe at the Hampton was depressing in comparison. I called the Hampton to cancel and was charged $334- even more than quoted minutes before I wrote the Hampton well over a week ago and have had no response. I have family in Gainesville and travel frequently. I thought I could trust the Hampton name as it used to be high on my choice list when traveling, but no longer. After a long drive my wife and I tried to check in but no parking is provided except the Public Garage down the street. The two check in spots in front of the hotel were taken by locals or vendors. I had to carry several heavy suitcases up/down 4 flights of stairs from the garage to the hotel. The public garage's elevator has been inop for quite some time and the homeless seek refuge in this garage. I spoke to two managers on staff and they say they know about this problem and sorry for my inconvenience. If you're elderly or disabled don't use this hotel. read more

One of our party members was unable to stay at the Hampton by Hilton due to an unexpected illness. We followed all appropriate channels to request a refund or credit for the unused room -- a reasonable ask considering the circumstances. Instead, we were met with consistent hostility, deflection, and an absolute refusal to assist. Representatives Kari Thompson and Katie Fitzpatrick-Lewis made it abundantly clear that, as far as Hilton is concerned, a $600 refund is not worth their time or discretion -- despite Hilton being a $50+ billion-dollar global hospitality corporation. Their responses were cold, dismissive, and lacked any trace of empathy or customer care. Legally, under common principles of consumer protection and good faith contracting, companies are expected to act reasonably and fairly, especially when circumstances like illness prevent service use. Instead, we were bounced between departments, given inconsistent information, and blamed for not taking action that was never reasonably possible (such as canceling after the reservation had already started). This was a failure of policy, humanity, and basic hospitality. It's not just frustrating -- it's deeply disappointing to see how far removed Hilton has become from the values they advertise. I'm sure there will be some copy-and-pasted response from management under this review about "valuing guest feedback" and "contacting customer support" -- but let's see if that's actually followed by meaningful action. Thus far, Hilton has wasted our time, money, and energy for nothing but an automated apology and corporate indifference. We'll be taking our business -- and recommendation power -- elsewhere. read more

This hotel is old and lacking in many ways. The space is dark, with clunky old furniture, without any sense of design or welcoming attitude. The complimentary breakfast is barely edible, and strangest of all, there is no parking or parking garage, so tack on an extra $29/night if you want to have access to your vehicle. We stayed here for 2 nights before realizing there is another, newly built, modern hotel literally around the corner offering suites for the same price as a regular room here. Where to start? The room itself is super dark due to only having one small window in the room. The bathroom had mold in it, plus cracks and signs of wear and tear everywhere. But after a couple of uses, the toilet clogged. I called the front desk to let them know, and they offered me a plunger. I laughed out loud and requested a room change. I was given a room change, on the same floor, but now I had to move rooms on my own with 2 small children 'helping' me. There was no discount, extra apology, or accounting for this- sorry to the next person staying in that room! The breakfast is beyond gross. Watery scrambled 'eggs,' the cheapest yogurts, corporate baked goods and breads, cereals, etc. Standard coffee only, and only fake plastic and styrofoam utensils and plates - why? Why ruin the earth with this free breakfast? It is so unhealthy and super sugary. The dining room is old and outdated. Everything is outdated- the furniture, the old carpet, the ethernet cables in the rooms, etc. Also, there is no parking lot. The only way to park nearby is to find your own street parking (doable, but might be challenging if you are not used to Gainesville, or pay $30/day for valet. The employees were very nice, especially the nice person from the dining room and the valets. Frankly, we would never choose this chain of hotels again unless it is severely renovated and overhauled. read more

I only gave one star so I could leave my review. This is the WORST hotel I have ever stayed at. It's dark, dirty, the staff are flippant. The worst part, the street party just outside at 1am. We were staying on the 5th floor and the entire building was shaking from the loud noise outside. The staff couldn't have cared less and acting like this was not their problem. My husband and I, along w 2 children checked into this establishment 11/24/23 for a 2 night stay. We are Hilton honors diamond members so booking this hotel was an obvious choice due to its location. Immediately upon entering the hotel I noticed how dark and run down the establishment was. We checked into room # 1 on the second floor. The bathroom appeared to have a toilet leak so we immediately notified Charlene at the front desk. Charlene was able to move us to the 4th floor room which wasn't any better. The room was extremely unkept, very run down. The sheets on the bed were thin and extremely worn. The bathroom had years of mold build up in the grout. The floor of the shower had built in stains. The walls surrounding the sitting area were dirty and beat up ( see pics) with what appeared to be mold . All the floor boards were in the process of coming off or off completely. C the black carpet in certain areas of the room were bubbling and coming off. I informed Charlene at the front desk and showed her the pics of the room. She admitted that the hotel need refurbishments unfortunately the only thing she was able to offer us was a visit from house keeping and a call from the manager when he "returned from running his errands." I requested my points be refunded so we can check into another Hilton hotel .. and she told us no. We checked out of the hotel and opened a case w Hilton reservation customer service. I rather risk losing 140,000 points than stay at this hotel for 1 second. I will be following up w Hilton corporate as well as the better business bureau with a complaint. It's in a good area, lots of restaurants and bars to Walk to. However, when we arrived the sink had some black hairs in it. I rinsed them down and just thought they must have missed it. Then I turn to the bathtub and there were black hairs all over it (well enough since I should have been cleaned). This was a terrible experience. We stayed here for my mother's funeral. Tim was rude and unhelpful. He billed the wrong card which I am still trying to fix. There was no valet parking nor an explanation of where to park. Breakfast was cold and unappetizing and the breakfast staff was rude. I have never been treated so rudely. When I told Tim I was here for my mother's funeral you would think he could show compassion. I can't even give one star. There is no excuse for his actions. Other guests were treated poorly as well. I can't sit here and say that I'm generally a fan of Hampton Inn, but this was was just spectacular. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean. The water pressure was great. The Continental breakfast was yummy and included cereals, fresh fruit, cinnamon buns, bagels, eggs, sausage and a waffle station. Also, the hotel offers freshly baked cookies around 6PM in the evening. The hotels is in an awesome location in Gainesville and is in close proximity to local bars and restaurants. Minus 1 star for the parking garage not being able to accommodate elderly or handicapped people (you have to walk up 5 or so steps before you can get to the elevator which makes it suitcase unfriendly too)! I recently went to Gainesville for a wedding where the Hampton Inn & Suites was the hotel of choice for the wedding party. When I went to school here, this hotel had just been built and was within prime distance from great restaurants downtown like my fave- Dragonfly! Fast forward 8 years later, and Downtown Gainesville has even more spots to visit. This hotel is centrally located in the downtown area and close by to restaurants, bars and the Hippodrome Theatre. They have valet, and self parking as well but I lucked out when I visited. The wedding couple planned their wedding over spring break, so the two hour parking limit downtown was lifted #win. My room was very clean and spacious, and the bathroom was clean as well. The beds were comfortable, AC worked great and overall, this stay was pretty sweet! They do serve complimentary breakfast each day, but I never took advantage of that. I did enjoy the free coffee in the breakfast area, tho! Overall, this is a good option if you're looking to stay in Gainesville and be located near lots of fun things to do. It's about a 5 minute drive from Campus without traffic. read more

They are good clean reliable hotels. While there were a few hiccups (most hotel could not control) low people in next room, I would and will return. Parking is an issue as there is not much near by. Stopped in Gainesville for a couple nights and was jarred to see the woman checking me in didn't have her mask on . It was just hanging under her chin and after a couple minutes she put it under her nose, after wiping it with her hand. Every time I walked through the lobby there were unmasked people which made me feel incredibly unsafe. Our hot water in the shower did not work even while turned all the way up. Place is nice, and definitely convenient. However, makes sure you thoroughly research the ever-changing parking policies and price points. Unfortunately, the best option is likely to use the valet (currently $18) as the parking garage is currently more expensive over night. You're looking at $15-30 per 24 hours even if you never leave the place! Even on weekends! Also, the clerk robotically said "that must be frustrating" in a way that showed she didn't care about their confusing system when I expressed concern. The parking garage people who I called cared more! Also, there was no sign that made it clear how to get to Hampton Inn from the garage. I don't even know where to begin. This place would get zero stars if I could. When you walk in everything seems okay, the gentlemen at the front desk was polite which I appreciate. But when we go up to our floor after check in I IMMEDIATELY smelled a horrible scent everywhere on that floor. It smelled like feet and body odor. Then when we walk into our room I couldn't believe my eyes. The smell that was in the hallways was in our room as well, there was LITERAL foot stains on the wall next to the bed, the coffee maker wasn't even cleaned out at all, there was stains of I don't even know what on our bed, and the bathroom had dust and dirt everywhere in the showers and sink. I have never seen a hotel so bad. I understand that there isn't many maids at this hotel at the moment due to COVID but when I feel like I can't even sit ANYWHERE in the room without getting gross that's a problem. If you are low staff then cut out some of your rooms if you cannot clean them all in a day. read more

Staff are very rude and not accommodating at all. The room was okay. Fairly clean. Water pressure was not great and the shower head in our room was broken and once reported was not addressed. I stayed at this Hampton for the last time two weeks ago. The appeal of downtown restaurants is great, but the Barrientos and homeless population make this area uncomfortable. Then to add issue, they are renting floors of this hotel to a "work program" for a food bank nearby. Transporting day workers back and forth in white vans. There were rude comments from a few, food bags all down the hallways; we checked out early. It's a shame because I used to love this spot. read more

Solid hotel with a great location in downtown Gainesville. UF affiliates with them so we have stayed here each time we needed to come up. The rooms are clean and large - we have stayed in both a two doubles room and a king bed room - they both had bigger tvs and the king room had a pullout couch. Bathrooms were also large with the sink inside the bathroom. One had a shower and the other a tub so you can probably request at booking (not a big deal for us). There is a wall between sink and toilet, but no light back there so it can get a little dark back there - slightly awkward. We valet parked our car the first time (15$ and luckily covered for us) and had no issues. Second time, our comped room did not include valet which rose 1$ over the course of one month. We opted for street parking overnight while was plentiful, but you had to park after 9(??? I don't remember this time) and leave before 9am. Parking is technically enforced every 2 hours starting at 7. It is difficult to find parking in Gainesville :/ read more

ughh. this terrible hotel denied a bride and groom a hotel on their wedding night because of an oversight. They were made to believe their reservation was secure (I don't know, maybe because they rented out the conference room for a rehearsal dinner and booked a whole block of rooms for about 20 wedding guests) They even had a piece of paper with "Friday and Saturday" seemingly confirmed. I don't care how the oversight happened, if a hotel is getting that much revenue from wedding guests, they should have comped a room at another hotel for the newlyweds. They did give us a complimentary toothbrush and it came in handy when I vomited from disgust. read more
