Hotel is on the older side. Some of the area on the side of the bathroom sink were a little dirty. The staff were very friendly and accommodating throughout my long stay here.Price was a little higher due to the demand at the time. The gym had basic dumbbells and cardio equipment. Overall the stay was fair.

    In room bar. Pretty nice.

This is a nice hotel. Plenty of parking - nice open and clean lobby space - and great rooms. The room was spacious with a large sink area outside the shower/toilet area which was behind a closed door while the sink was more open to the room in an adjoining open nook. When you first enter there is a bar/counter space with a coffee/tea maker and small fridge. There was a sitting area with a couch as well as a desk and a king bed in our room with chargers on both sides and plugs for electronics (not all hotels are updated to have these on each side of the bed for both people). Lots of tv channels (HBO is one) on a nice new updated tv. Staff were very friendly and helped me with a heavy bag out to my car because I had an ankle sprain I was nursing while staying here. Location is great right off Benn's Church Blvd near to gas stations, food, pharmacies and a few grocery stores (Farm Fresh and Foodlion). It's also about 8 minutes from the main street in Smithfield (Church St.) which has a ton of antique shops, the bakery, Wharf Hill, Smithfield Station, Windsor Castle Park (my favorite park). Good stuff. I'd stay here again.

    Good quality bathroom

This hotel has the worse internet I've ever seen. If you are traveling for work and depend on WiFi this is not the place to stay.

We were booked into the inn by a client who wanted to make our first visit to Suffolk a memorable one. The home is a true Southern belle - a grand dame of historic mansions. It has been so lovingly restored and is perfectly appointed. We had so much fun exploring every inch of the home and absorbing its character. The proprietor (and very talented chef) Ruth has mastered the art of hospitality, inviting us to truly make the home our own. She didn't mind one bit that we planted ourselves in the reclining leather chairs in the stately octagonal library with another couple and yakked enthusiastically until the wee hours. After a blissful night sleep, breakfast the following morning was a marvelous affair. We prepped a coffee for ourselves at the Nespresso machine (fantastic!) and meandered around the grounds until the heavenly smell of baking croissants lured us to the elegant, light-filled breakfast room. Usually an eat-and-run proposition for us, we lingered for over an hour enjoying the delectable food and the conversation with the other guests. The charm of the house and its gracious owner had worked its magic - we were refreshed, satiated and inspired. We departed with great reluctance but the spirit of the Truitt house hung about us for the rest of the day and onto the next as we traveled home. You do not want to miss this unique and unforgettable travel experience - 5 gold stars!!!

The mansion, built long ago, has been restored and updated in every category. I've stayed at lots of B&Bs to find them "charming but in need of modern updates." This place has that without losing its original charm from 1909. Because I'm here for work, I'm purposely spending all my time at the house when not on location and I love to be able to move from study to library to the atrium and other rooms in order to read and for a change of atmosphere. Every room is unique and has a story. You'll love Ruth who will make your stay feel like you've come home to the family estate. Breakfast is made to order and she loves knowing what you like. Casual and comfy. Two words to describe the experience in this amazing, palatial mansion.

The pictures online absolutely do NOT do it justice. Our family of 3 (2 adults and a teenager) spent EIGHT days at this B&B and the location was beyond expectation! This place is a nature lover's dream. We listened to red wing blackbirds, cardinals, and great crested flycatchers sing to us from the trees. A Momma turkey brought her line of tiny babies out to walk across the yard several days in a row. Little boxed turtles scuttled across the yard. Deer popped in and out, frolicking around the property throughout the day. We watched a bald eagle sit in the tree nearby. Fish would jump in the water, herons would dive in and kayakers and small fishing boats went floating by. The pool was beautiful and immaculately kept. We stayed in the two bedroom Roosevelt retreat. It was beautiful! Beds were incredibly comfortable and the rooms were very spacious. The shower had cascading upper showerheads and mid level jets (similar to a high end luxury spa I once visited in Arizona). There was a jetted tub, luxurious shower products, comfy robes and slippers. Rooms were made every day and we were left mints on our pillows. What we loved even more than the beautiful location was the owners themselves. Paige and Mark felt like family by the end of our stay (the kind of family you LIKE to spend time with). They were incredibly generous, thoughtful, and kind. We found ourselves lingering over breakfast with them because they were just such lovely people. They made suggestions on restaurants (including the half price fish and chips!), places to see, things to maybe avoid. Watching them in the kitchen was like having a personal chef for an amazing breakfast every single morning. Everything from eggs benedict, breakfast quesadillas to a traditional English breakfast - never the same thing twice. On our last day, Mark asked our son if he had any special requests and our son opted for a second round of Frank Sinatra's favorite breakfast sandwich (who knew - but it was AMAZING!). They even wrapped up our leftover breakfast food each day so we could snack on it later. They offered hot coffee and orange juice every morning. We also had access to coffee, tea and various tasty snacks throughout the day. I ate way too many yummy brownies and cookies, and my son inhaled Paige's banana muffins. She even made an extra batch so he could take some home on the day we left. This was Southern hospitality and high class luxury at it's finest. Everything about this place was top notch. It was actually HARD to leave because we loved Paige and Mark and their little slice of heaven so much. I cannot recommend this place enough!!

However, during my stay, my family and I encountered an issue with a staff member from the Crust & Cork restaurant located inside your hotel. We overheard the supervisor Brittany speaking to one of her employees regarding the tip in front of us and multiple customers at the bar. When my daughter asked Brittney if there was an issue with the tip Brittney stated "it's crazy that it was almost a $400 bill! " insinuating that we did not tip enough. Our check totaled $377 which included a $57 service charge. We added an additional $8 to round the tip off to $65. She was extremely rude and unprofessional. She lacked consideration and completely disregarded our feelings by doing this in front of staff and other customers. That fact that she wasn't out server made it worse because our server whose name is Ty was very grateful and had no issues with our tip. The bartenders Tiffanie,Jess and Leslie made our stay worthwhile. They were very accommodating and supportive after witnessing what had took place but based off this interaction with this one particular staff member I'm definitely having second thoughts of staying at this hotel again.

Staying the entire week and they just ignore you when your tv is not working and desperately wanting to watch the game. Next time motel 6, must be better atleast they got people to fix the tv. First time they answer and next time they won't and hide in the back room. They won't follow up but when you try to follow up as you are missing the game they get an attitude and threaten you. This is absolutely the worst one and they don't care for sure. The GM is not able to control the quality of service it seems. So this a different Hilton and don't assume they are all same. First time I give a bad review though this may be unfair for the good people working here as well. Apologies.

So I was really looking forward to coming to Peace Hill Farm for their afternoon tea. I made reservations for me and my friend. It was a lovely drive ... At first... the gps directions are awful. I was taken down a road which was designated as peace hill - but we ended up at a red house, no one there, then we called and got even worse directions. The woman on the phone told us to go by the "red hen house" and through the woods... it was barely a road, full of tree roots, dirt path, and rocky terrain. After a 1/2 hour, we finally made it and end up at the back of the building. Come to find out, if she had just told us to go back to the main road and keep going 1/4-1/2 or so, we'd see the other entrance to the main house. Not a great first impression. The grounds were lovely and the farm animals gave a pastoral vibe. Inside was pretty too, but we were led to a rather secluded back room full of wool and yarn. Not that it wasn't cozy, but quite different from the dozens upon dozens of tea rooms I've been to. The lady who was "minding the store" didn't seem like she knew what she was doing. It took ages to get our teas and the tea (earl grey) tasted bland and stale, the soup was a putrid green (inedible) and while we were waiting we heard her chatting on the phone. Anyway, she wasn't the owner, so maybe she was new or just helping out?? The tea tier arrived and it looked nice... the sandwiches were good, basic cucumber, egg salad, and a pesto, with a mini ham biscuit... the scones were not good - sorry - but they were served with loads of cream and jam yet they should be served plain and the "condiments" on the side. My friend who can't have the toppings and preferred a plain scone, asked for a plain one. The lady said it would take 20 minutes . Which it did, and longer. All and all, it wasn't a very relaxing experience. I took some nice pictures, and we enjoyed the surroundings, but the afternoon tea service itself was mediocre. Sadly, we were disappointed, and I really wanted to love this place since I had heard good things... I'm sure the bed and breakfast side of the experience is probably much better. The sheep, the goats, the wool, the crafts, the pasture raised products, the farm life... that is your best bet from the other reviews I've read, but maybe you'll have a better tea time than we had. We might have to give this place another try and see if it improves.

I would have preferred a milder blend to go with the food rather than the choice of two strong flavors.
