So we needed a local get away. This place is really nice. Not too many people know about it, so its not busy or over crowded! Really clean and neat. None smoking, so it doesn't stink up the place. A comfortable Hampton inn, though starting to get a bit dated and consequently doesn't have quite the clean or neat feel that some hamptons do. But the staff were friendly, and it was much more affordable than the larger Crowne Plaza next door. Lots of parking, and plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Uber/Lyft pickups were quite fast, so save yourself some time and don't book a rental car if you can avoid it. read more

Great value for our family SF vacation. So many different restaurants near by and we drove from OC, so driving about 30 minutes to SF and about 1 hour to Muir Wood wasn't a big deal. Clean hotel with different breakfast each morning was nice. You'll find out, but stay away from fruits, they're old. Instead take uncut apples and oranges, so there you're covered. Close to 237 & 880. I think the best thing about this hotel is restaurants/mall/movie are close proximity. read more

Stayed here 3 nights for business. Typical of other Hampton Inns, positive stay. Clean enough. Would come here again. Great location, right off the intersection of 880 and 237. Based on corporate pricing, the only thing cheaper in the Milpitas, San Jose, and Santa Clara areas was a Holiday Inn. Based on my stay... PROS: * Friendly and helpful front desk. * Comfy bed with down comforter. * Large bathroom. Countertops and walls of tub made of Corian (man-made solid surface). In addition to countertop, had a Corian ledge that ran along the length of the mirror, which was nice for laying out toiletries. * Free internet (or maybe internet was free because I booked through corporate). Internet speed decent. They have wireless in the rooms. * Free breakfast. They also have brown bag "Breakfast on the Go" for you to take. * Surprised by the quality of the iron - didn't at all leak/drip water on my clothes, which sometimes leaves a faint, mineral-y residue on clothes. My silk blouses appreciated this. * Could find a decent parking spot even though the hotel was sold out. * Decent-sized non-flat-screen TV. CONS: * No bathroom fan to take away moisture. Additionally the bathroom door had spring that made it close, keeping dampness in. * Some dark mildew on tub walls and bottom of shower curtain. Areas of soiled carpet. * Water pressure low, showers took forever. * No central air, wall-mounted unit by window. (Didn't use). * Can hear normal-volume conversations through the walls, but my neighbors were all quiet at night. * Hair dryer could have been more powerful. * Closet fairly small, about the length of a single "normal" door (though this doesn't really bother me). * Slowest elevator everrr TIP: Food - Milpitas Square is directly across the street, within short walking distance. Tons of Asian restaurants. Some of my favorites being Penang Garden and Kee Wah Bakery (Hong Kong style bakery). Ranch 99 (Asian supermarket chain) is also there for convenience in case you need anything (though I can't guarantee it will smell like your local Walgreen's/CVS Pharmacy :) read more

For a room that was $300 per night, I expected much more. Here is the note I sent to Hilton after my stay: The room had many issues... The door would not lock unless it was slammed or pulled/pushed hard. I took everything of value out of the room every day. The sink in the bathroom was clogged and slowly drained. It took minutes to get hot water from the tap. The bottom of the clothes iron in the room was covered with some sticky residue. I asked house keeping for a new one so I could iron my shirts. I got a new one and had to let it had a bad odor to it when it was turned on. The odor stopped over time. And finally, one morning I got out of the shower and walked in the room in my bare feet. When I entered the bathroom again and stepped on a towel on the floor I noticed a dark color on the white towel. It was from the bottom of my feet. The carpet was filthy. I reported all this to the front desk on my departure. It was room 418. Finally - I came over to Hilton from Marriott where I was a Platinum member. Should I go back to Marriott? Is there anyway you can consistently get me a decent room in a hotel? Thanks. read more

We stayed there on business during the second week of September..the rooms were clean, however the front desk agent Star, was downright rude and has no people skills in offering hotel hospitality. Contact was made with all the other agents, Amanda, Deanna, and Gordon, which were pleasant, however, we DO NOT know how Star is still working at the hotel. Asked her a few questions, and simple requests, in a normal visitor inquisitive manner, She presented an attitude as we were bothering her. She answered in a very abrupt and direct manner, with a facial expression as " wtf , are you dumb?!"...It was very prevalant that she must've been having a bad day or she just took offense with our inquiry. Upon leaving a bit bothered, with the treatment she offered and oblivious as to what we did to deserve the attitude, she made snide remarks, which upon asking her what she said, she became verbally confrontational, to the point, we told her, WE don't wish to be confronted by you in that manner and walked away. We simply asked about out rates and billing receipts. She was very unprofessional and detrimental to retaining customers, as it was a MAJOR turn off...Don't know whats happening with the Hilton chain...Star was not remorseful, apologetic, or able to explain what went wrong. We've could have genereated an attitude towards her and get into a big confrontation, but that was not what we were in Milpitas for..Its was to conduct business and some R&R which was greatly disturbed by Star's poor customer hospitality..Although the other agents were professional and friendly, we don't see or recommending staying there again...We thought just trying it as an alternative to Embassy Suites and Crown Plaza where we normally choose to stay along with our colleagues... read more

The Hampton Inn is a pretty consistent chain in the US. Nice rooms, nice people, comfy beds, and a free breakfast. Pretty much what you want in an Inn from a business perspective. I would normally give it a four, but this one gets a three for a few reasons. One, it is a bit more expensive than the Staybridge Suites, and with Staybridge you get a free dinner on the weeknights as well as a free breakfast, and there is a small "pantry" where you can purchase products all times of day or night (water, toiletries, food...etc.) I am now convinced that all the hotels in SJC go through crappy wireless services for their Internet access, and none of them understand the concept of bandwidth. Like most other hotels in SJC, the Internet access maxes out at .3Mb/s, which doesn't really allow for VPNs back into the office or any type of streaming. Many other hotels in many other cities of comparable size max out at 1Mb/s. So, I can't really dock The Hampton for basically being at par with all the other hotels. If you are up late, there is no food/water options, which is normal for the Hampton, but it is not conveniently located to anyplace that you can (except Walmart...and you do NOT want to go to the Walmart in Milpitas). So, it's a good place, but a bit more expensive than some others (no discount for Cisco). Still not a bad place to stay for a day or two of business. read more

Updated somewhat recently in an attempt to be swanky, which is nice even though they don't quite pull it off. It would help if they replaced the art on the elevator doors, which has been defaced by some jerk. Nice facility and room overall, which includes a mini-fridge and microwave. Despite booking with a check in box 'away from elevators,' I was in the room right next to the elevator. It didn't turn out to be a problem, which is probably in part due to it being the one-and-only and painfully slow elevator. Very quiet overall, despite facing the freeway. The limited service experiences I had were very good. No restaurant or bar, but there is the Crowne next door with mediocre reviews for that. But the included breakfast was very good, which had a good oatmeal spread and self-serve waffle maker, amongst other traditional breakfast options. The egg/meat/potato buffet varied each day, which was well though out. Plus cookies at night. Across the street to many Asian, Mediterranean, and Indian restaurants and a large Asian grocery store where you can get pretty much anything you might need. I'd rather stay at the Hyatt House, but overall had a very good experience. Bed did not appear to have evidence of bedbugs, and was comfy. read more

Recently had a 3 night stay and my mother and I enjoyed ourselves. Not to pricey, and the rooms were well maintained, staff was friendly, quick check in and check out, free WiFi, complimentary breakfast with waffles, oatmeal, cereal, and each day changes with eggs and meat. It was a conveinient location, close to family and Milpitas square and 99 ranch across the street. Perfect for those wanting to go to great America or great mall. read more

I've stayed at this hotel 39 nights in the last year, 1 week/month and I can tell you that if you want a hotel with easy parking, friendly staff, great free breakfast, free popcorn and cookies, decent size rooms without a lot of frills then this is a nice place. Sure there are issues here and there but this is one of the few places where I can wake up without a sore back. That alone is worth my stay. If you want a frilly hotel with a nice pool and restaurant- this isn't your place but if you like quiet rooms and restful sleep in a nice bed and wake up to a free breakfast then this is home. As far as rates go they are more reasonable than most hotels in the area. I travel there for business and my company pays for my rooms so I can't comment on $ value. I can say that prices in the Silicon Valley are much higher than most of the rest of the country so expect to pay more. It's about 15 mins from SJC and 45-90 mins from SFO depending on the time of day. I've arrived from both airports and the drive is easy from either airport. read more

This is a clean hotel...but that is about all that is positive. If you want food, drink or anything but a limited breakfast you are looking at the wrong place. It is isolated by the highway, a crown plaza and an all Asian food/supermarket place. Even if you want to order food, good luck, you are in Milpitas which has no weekday delivery places past 10pm, so I wish you well if you are coming off of 12 hours of meetings and expecting an option to eat with out driving...you will be disappointed. read more

There's so many wrong at this hotel. I guess being a Diamond member didn't matter to them as I felt like I wasn't treated like one. I requested for an early check in. I've arrived with my rental car around 11a yesterday and the Indian guy who was wearing a turban (Manny) told me that there was no room available when the parking lot was empty lol. It didn't take me long to wait so I guess couldn't complain much about it but as a Diamond member, he failed to offer me free snack and a water. Then their check out time is at 11a. If you requested a late check out, you'll be charged half rate which is over $150 as the room is already over $300. This place is trying to rob me! read more

Best bed I have stayed at in a long time. Hampton rooms are always nice, plenty of plugs for your stuff. They even gave me a toothbrush as I forgot mine. Staff was very friendly. In the course of multiple business travels I've had the pleasure of staying at many a Hampton Inn across the country. I like they are all consistently the same, the breakfast is decent and the rooms are comfortable. The problem I have with this particular location is it's proximity to the freeway. If you stay here you must request a room that does not face the freeway. Holy mother of God, it's called a double-paned window, look into them. Other than enjoying the dulcet tones of the occassional semi or Harley passing by I suppose it was an okay night. Kudos to having multiple food establishments within walking distance in addition to a Crowne Plaza with a full bar. read more

My fellow soldiers and I stay at the Hampton Inn Milpitas one weekend a week for our monthly drill duties at the San Jose Armory. I have been staying here for over a year to avoid the long drive back home during our weekend drill. In short, this hotel is EXCELLENT: great accommodations and staff. I/we appreciate the early breakfast (6am) that lets us have a hot meal before our lonnnnnng days at drill. Additionally, the hotel is centrally located to Starbucks, Appleby's and other food establishments, which I/we always go to after drill! Special 'shout out' to Thuy (front desk), who knows me/us by name and greets me/us with the most vibrant smile; she indeed has that 'excellent customer service' personality and is just a great, friendly lady, in general. read more

I have stayed at a number of Hampton Inns and appreciate their cleanliness, how up-to-date the decor is, and the wide variety of options at breakfast. While those elements were present at this location, there were some glitches the week that I stayed that makes me wonder about how this place is operating. On the first full day, there was no hot water for the whole hotel. The front desk told me it was due to a new hot water heater installed the day before that apparently didn't work properly. Later that evening I returned to my room and it had not been cleaned nor the bed was not made. Two days later, a local power outage interrupted power (not the hotel's fault) for about three hours in the evening. However, when the power returned around 10pm, the internet router was not reset in the part of the hotel I was staying at even after multiple queries. By the time I checked out the next day at 9am, it was still not working. Would I stay here again? Maybe once more to give the place a chance to fire on all cylinders. It's location is also very convenient to a number of restaurants. But if the minor issues continue, I will avoid. read more
