I've been here several times and I will say that the food is good, not great but good. What I did not like about the restaurant was the service, the cleanliness and the prices. The waitress, who has probably been there for 50 years was just not friendly at all and told us immediately that the restaurant will be closing in 45 minutes so we have to order quickly. We had a reservation and we waited for a table well after our reservation time and this beeotch is telling us to hurry! Prices; the owner has lost her mind in thinking that they can charge those prices in a restaurant that looks like an old delicatessen. A dirty delicatessen. The bathroom was a disgrace. Piss all over the floor, a dirty, rusted medicine cabinet, with a disgusting razor blade and shaving cream! Does someone live there?? At those prices go to cafe' Emilia. Stopped in on our way home to Monmouth County after visiting some family. We were originally looking for a place to get a decent porkroll, egg and cheese. After looking at the menu we ordered two subs to go. We got in the car, opened our styrofoam containers to the most delicious sub we've ever had. The bread was amazing and everything was so fresh. It's our favorite local dinner place, by far. Everything is homemade, right down to the salad dressings (try the basil-lime). Entrees are very generous (we usually share one) and so delicious. My wife and I moved to Hampton one year ago. We had no idea this restaurant would wind up one of our favorite things about where we live. We order breakfast out often, stop in for coffee here and there, and walk up with a bottle of wine at least twice a month. They even helped me host my wife's surprise birthday party (a reservation for 14 on a Saturday night). We love it and recommend a visit to everyone. This place is delicious. It has a very home-like feeling and the service is excellent. It is a great place to go with some friends or family and escape for an hour or so and just enjoy some home cooked meals. It is small and cute inside. This casual little place has amazing food! You can taste the love and in the food. From Prime Rib to Italian dishes to the occassional curries you cant go wrong. The fresh pasta goes from the roller to the pot and onto your plate within minutes. The mussels are to die for! I reccomend the Argula Goat Cheese Salad, Broccoli Rabe with Sausage, oh and the meatballs! The home-made puddings are fantastic. Everything here is good! Heads up, it gets crowded for dinner ,so make a reservation and dont go if you are in a hurry. The lunches and breakfast sandwiches are also fabulous. read more

This is a place for people who really enjoy the best quality food and also enjoy the atmosphere of a family-owned friendly and casual restaurant where you can see the kitchen and know that everything is cooked to order. BYOB makes it a reasonably priced evening as well. We went with another couple. Appetizers were the mussels and fried calamari shared at the table. Fabulous! Our friends had the veal parm and crabmeat stuffed flounder and my husband (the meat and potatoes guy) had the prime rib with baked potato. I had the pasta with broccoli rabe, sausage, garlic and oil and it was divine. It appears that the prime rib is available all the time if you have a meat and potatoes guy to bring along. The atmosphere is such that you feel you are in the middle of the kitchen but that adds to the character of the place. We saw some wonderful desserts being served to other tables but we were too stuffed to partake but definitely will plan ahead next time. I'm new to the area (only been in Hampton for a week), but we've already eaten here three times! It's such a cute place, I feel like I go back in a timewarp to a much simpler era, and very small town feel, which I love! The food is phenomenal, I have tried the eggplant (best homemade pasta I have ever had), I got take out for lunch where I had the buffalo chicken wrap (delicious, and the homemade macaroni salad again is the best I have ever had), and last night we had family over and ordered a pizza and garlic knots, which the garlic knots were out of this world. First time dining at this amazing eatery. I have heard only positive reviews from friends who have frequented the Restaurant and finally my husband and I decided to make reservations for tonight! BYO which is great. Bread:amazing, Salad: fresh and yummy, Appy:yuuuummmmyyyy shrimp pot stickers with sweet/spicy dipping sauce. I had chicken parm, husband had eggplant parm. Both came with sides of homemade fettuccini pasta. I cannot describe with words how delicious both meals were. My husbands eggplant was still steaming during his last bite. This could be because it was so so steaming hot to begin with OR he devoured it so fast that it didn't have a chance to cool off. Tiny place, so definitely make reservations because after 6:30-6:45 the place is FULL! Owner was present and was a delight to meet when we paid. We can't wait to go back. Stopped in here with my daughters after working all day on decorating a client's for a fall party. We were starving and out of the blue I remembered a friend telling me about the place. I found their web site on my phone (which was terrible, but whatever, they're a deli, not an IT company) and decided, "Yes, sounds perfect!" I need to point out (3) things: 1) Nowhere on their home page did it say to make a reservation; 2) It is referred to as a "deli", so I would never have thought to make a reservation; and 3) it was 4:45pm on a Sunday. We walk in and there's only 1 couple in there. I did see a few Reserved signs on tables. The owner, who has been described as a really hospitable person by other reviewers and says on her web site, "EVERYBODY eats when they come to my house" came to us seemingly flustered and asked how she could help. I said - very nicely - "I've heard wonderful things about this place; my daughters and I are starving, can we sit for an early dinner?" She asks if we have a reservation. I said that I was sorry I've never been here and didn't know to make one. "Would it be possible to order something to go - we can wait outside?" She just shook her head - obviously pissed off - and looked to one of the boys working there (a son?), and said, "deal with this!" and just turned her back on us. Seriously? The boy was nice. Handed me menus and said, sure we can do take out. I started looking, and although we were hungry and the menu was undeniably good, I put them down and walked out. My daughters are young - 10 and 12 - and even they felt incredibly unwelcome and denied by the owner. I own a business myself and my kids have very busy schedules. I am always looking for more healthy take out options. But no matter how good the food is somewhere, I will not be made to feel uncomfortable. Oh My Goodness!!! A friend took us to this fine restaurant yesterday afternoon for an early dinner and what a great surprise. There were 5 of us and we had the most wonderful, delicious dishes. I had their homemade fried mozzarella wedges for an appetizer and for my main course I had the homemade ravioli's with marinara sauce. They served a wonderful salad with the meal. Their homemade lime dressing was to die for. We all tasted each others dishes that ranged from decadent mussels in this secret sauce that would bring me back just for that dish, to a sausage, broccoli raub plate over home made pasta delicious! My friend went in the kitchen and ordered a specially made salad and said make it big! It came out on a turkey platter. What a HOOT! Wonderful mixed greens with all sorts of interesting additions topped with fresh avocado drizzled with avocado oil. They make their own pasta, bread, and pastries. Being business owners ourselves we eat out 6 our of 7 nights a week and have lived within 15 minutes of this place. How did I miss this one. Last but not least casual dress, be sure to make reservations, BYOB, and you don't have to mortgage your house to enjoy this 5 star restaurant/deli. read more
