Bummed today. Used to eat at Han Dynasty a lot and decided to try the one near my office for lunch. This was my first and last time here. Dumplings were soggy and just NOT good and the chicken was overly breaded with not the best quality of chicken that I literally ate about 1/3 of it (and being hungry) and threw it all away. I ate probably $4 of my $24 lunch. Egg roll was okay, but again C-. Disappointed. read more

I grew up in Chesco and somehow managed to get to Han Dynasty a total of zero times, but i swear it has always been on in my list. A banner hanging outside reads "CNN top 50 restaurants." Maybe it's me but I can't recall ever seeing any other restaurants adorned with such an honor. CNN!? Politics and Pork Lo Mein...I guess! Food : my friend and I got a vegetable egg roll, a pork egg roll, crispy cucumbers, the green beans and General tsos chicken. All dishes were pretty good. Sounds silly, but the green beans and cucumbers were the star of the show. Each dish was light, full of flavor yet still had some crisp. $10 for beans seems a bit steep, but I thought they were delicious. My friend liked his General Tsos but we agreed the portion was a bit small for the price. Both our rolls were uninspiring, lacking flavor. Service: An energetic man was our server. I hope he was wearing a pedometer bc he may have broken 10k steps in the short period of time we were there. Perhaps he was the delivery man, chef, hostess and the server? This guy was everywhere. Overall my experience was pretty average. The prices were higher than expected for the portions and the food was good, not great . Our visit was 6pm on a Thursday so I was surprised that we were only one of only 3 tables When was that banner hung? 2005? I might have missed out on the golden years. read more

Used to be great, now terrible! This time ordered pork in garlic sauce spring rolls, veg fried rice, pork was dry like leather sauce was mostly oil, spring rolls were so hard couldn't even bit into it as if they had been premade a week ago and fried rice had almost no vegetables. read more

This is now my go to for Chinese takeout! I'm a vegetarian who loves spicy food, my daughter is 3, my husband is a typical meat guy and we all have found something we love on the menu. I get the Ma Po tofu without meat and request it extra spicy. Normally I'm disappointed in spice level not being enough but this one knocks it out of the park. The extra spicy brings the heat/flavor but isn't intolerable. I like to be able to still feel the spice on my mouth when I'm finished and this is perfect. My 3 year old loves the vegetable fried rice. It's quite tasty but not too greasy. Hubby gets the General Tso's chicken. The chicken looks huge. In fact all portion sizes are generous but not too much. Online ordering and pickup process is super easy and smooth. I also love how the menu is broken down to make things easy to find. They have separate traditional and Americanized sections which I thought was cool. read more

Ordered sesame chicken got orange chicken. it was very tough. Asked before I left if there's duck sauce and hot mustard for egg roll. person said yes. Got home none in bag. When I called restaurant got told sorry. Never again. Nothing has any tasted to it. What a waste of money read more

good quality authentic Chinese food especially if you like spicy. Been coming to Han Dynasty since they first started in old city Philadelphia, now with the Exton location just minutes from my house I can say their food has been consistently good although you can tell if they change chefs because the food does go through phases. I do agree that the service is not the best and occasionally I have had to wait a long time before getting more water or rice, however this is not atypical of other Chinese restaurants. Try getting dim sum in Philly on a weekend, if you ask for more water they look like you owe them money. Overall, I'd give the food a 4 star and the service a 3, I'd give it a 3.5 if I could but I always round down in my reviews. Come for the great food with tolerable service. PS BYOB. read more

this is my favorite restaurant. been going here for 9 years, several times a week. take out is great, but dining in is the best. the staff are so charming, thoughtful, and swift. José and Len are such great hosts and servers, so friendly and respectful and kind. Jorgé is also such a friendly and great host, but his skills are best in the kitchen. He cooks the perfect double cooked pork every time. he doesn't overcook the pork, it's always still tender and the spice is just right! he listens to his customers feedback on the dishes and serves to satisfy. truly a talent in the kitchen. keep him back there cooking please!! love you all!! read more

This location is definitely the reject of the bunch. It's basically take-out. Horrible service, very amateur and almost all rude. They half way take your order, drop your food and disappear for the entirety while hip hop plays over the speakers. Witnessed an employee snap angrily at a customer who needed something, that he'd "be there when I'm done" while folding napkins. I've witnessed all this during all of my visits here. Mismanagement/poor hiring is to blame. Would've rated 1 star but the food manages to be almost as decent as the Philly locations. Ownership needs audit this place for quality, the other spots are kept at much higher standards. read more

This by far the worst Chinese takeout I have ever had! Crispy Rice Style Shrimp is soup for $16.95!!! Quart of egg drop soup maybe had one egg! Man where I picked up was very unpleasant! I have been here several times since my last review and I am sad to report that things are no better and maybe a bit worse. The place is still shop worn and appears dirty. There was pee on the floor of the mens' room and on a toilet seat of the ladies' room. The booth seat I sat in in the dining room (closest to the party room) had me sinking in to the point where my feet left the ground. I wish I could say that at least the food was good. It wasn't. Our Dan Dan noodles has about a tablespoon of ground pork on top and while the spice level is supposed to be a 6 or 7, it was ZERO. The cold sesame noodles were ok but not impressive. The Kung pao chicken is supposed to be a 3 on the heat scale. It also was a ZERO and had no celery and very few red peppers. Perhaps they need to concentrate on current locations rather than trying to open new ones. I know I won't be back to this one. read more

I tried to call to order pick up, it felt like the guy who answered the phone couldn't hear me, he hung up on me. I tried twice and got hang up twice. Ok, so I literally wanted to light a candle after this meal, because it was a freakin' religious experience! This may have been the best Chinese food I've ever eaten -- and I've tried Chinese restaurants all around the US. This food was truly authentic -- a significant indicator of which is the ability to put in heat (for those of you who enjoy that kind of spice) and flavor. They did this perfectly in the dishes we had. Dan Dan Noodles -- don't be such a wimp, TRY THEM. They are very spicy. They will make you cry. But have some plain rice next to them (don't drink water!) and give them a try. Best ones I've ever had -- because, again, once we regained consciousness, the flavor was outstanding! Pork with Spicy Oil -- ok, so you can see the theme in our party. This, too, wasn't too spicy, just super flavorful. This dish was listed on the specials so not sure they have this all the time -- but I have a feeling if you ordered cardboard with spicy oil they'd make it for you. And you'd love it. Kung Pao Chicken -- So. So. Good. This is my favorite dish at Chinese restaurants, and this was definitely the best I'd ever had. Flavor explosion, not too hot. Spare Ribs with Garlic -- This was a real variety from the typical spare ribs -- not that red sauce most people associate with them. These are much lighter, not spicy hot at all, but exceedingly flavorful and tender. The ribs are small, so it's a good appetizer portion. Since people in the past have had issues with the service, I wanted to chime in to say that ours was really good. English is limited for some who work there, and it wouldn't kill diners to be a little sensitive to that. The owner/hostess came over and chatted with us, and she was absolutely lovely and gave us an idea of which times would be good to return. This restaurant is doing a booming business -- and well they should. To get that high quality of food in a small suburban area? Wow. You're lucky. Can't wait to try the one in New York! read more

You know, after seeing all of the Yelp love for Han Dynasty, I had to eventually have my experience here. I'm pretty sure it is necessary to maintain your Elite status anymore since it seems every Elite Yelper in the Philly area has been to one. I could be wrong. Well, I was in the area for lunch. I saw they had lunch specials now. I decided it was time. I would be a Han Dynasty virgin no more! You know, actually seeing a menu divided into Americanized Chinese, and Authentic Chinese really puts it into perspective. I've been a poser all my life with this cuisine. Look, I'm the first one to admit I love me some Sweet and Sour Chicken, some fried rice, some Sesame Chicken, etc. But seeing the menu, I knew I couldn't come here and order some General Tso's. But I was only ready to be so daring. So I looked on the authentic menu for something that still looked like it could be an introductory dish. I settled on the chicken with garlic sauce lunch combo with wonton soup and white rice. It was going to be a 3 on the spicy scale. That's about right for now. So, I got the soup, and lo and behold... it wasn't that thrilling. It was fine. But not too much flavor in it. Not salty like I seem to get with this soup at other places, but I expected a bit more. Uh-oh! Now, far be it from me to judge on wonton soup, but I started wondering. Do they really care about every dish being good on their menu? Well I got the main dish, and let me say this... not only was it good enough to merit 5 stars, it was so good that I now believe they are so brilliant at cooking this cuisine that maybe the wonton soup is really how that soup is supposed to taste and I've been wrong all these years. That garlic sauce not only has a kick, it combines it with a tangy flavor that just dances in your mouth. I devoured it so fast, that when I went to pay the bill the lady behind the counter remarked, "That was quick". I will certainly be back, and I will be willing to try more dishes from the authentic side, but that chicken with garlic sauce might call me. Best part of this meal... the lunch combo was $6.90. My folks would take me to this place growing up. I have fond memories of eating sichuan food here. Honestly, was one of the only good authentic chinese places around. Typically chinese places have bad service but great food. This place has great service and good food. I even took my non-asian friends here before. Rarely answers phone for take-out, if they do, it's the same guys and he is rude and arrogant. If you go and order in person 1/2 hour to 45 mins wait - just bad for business. The service here was horrible, this rates in my top 5 of horrible customer service experience. If I had come solo I would have left. I came here for lunch on March 22nd with some colleagues. From the start the all of 2 staff that I saw treated us like we were bothering them. It took 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us with water and tea. We waited another 10 minutes or so to place our order. The waiter just walked up to us with a note pad, never apologized for the delay - just looked at us to signify that he was ready to take our order. When I food finally arrived, no one came to check on us after food delivery. We had to flag someone down for the bill. Upon exiting not a word from anyone...not a thank you for coming or anything. The only reason I am giving this 2 stars is because the food was excellent but I am sorry I can get excellent food and excellent service else where, I am not spending my money for poor service. read more

If you want amazing Chinese cuisine, Han is the place to visit. Their Szechuan inspired dishes are very well done and the total package of the meal hits all your senses. The restaurant is secluded off of a busy stretch of Route 100. I've driven pass many times and never really noticed until one day I made a wrong turn. Curiosity got the best of me so I ventured in and was greeted with a warm smile and a pot of hot tea. The wait staff were very knowledgeable and provided excellent recommendations. For starters you can never go wrong with steamed dumplings, the great thing is they weren't overcooked but just right, tender and moist. I went with a spicy dish of stir fried Calamari. The thing with squid is that it can be a tough ingredient in any dish, but Han did a wonderful job pairing the ingredients and it was by far one of the most delicious seafood dishes I've had, everything just melted in your mouth and left you wanting more as soon as you were done. The portions are a perfect size and the price is not that heavy on the pocket. Next time I am definitely bringing a bottle of wine or two with me. Two thumbs up! read more

Normally we enjoy coming here but when we came, and tried to place a pick up order on April 3 at 6 o clock at the Exton store, the man who claimed his name was Jose was extremely rude and started yelling just because I changed the order of a dish from one count to two. He was also rude to us when we tried to clarify that our order was vegetarian. He seems stressed, but that does not entitle him to treat a loyal customer badly. I have always like this restaurant - however, a few days back we ordered takeout, and the food was very mediocre. The kung pao chicken tasted like fish (as it it has been fried in oil that has been used to fry a LOT of fish just prior), and the dry pepper chicken lacked the crunch as well as the hot punch that it usually has. Maybe the shutdown has caused staffing problems or issues, but I hope things improve, otherwise I might as well switch to the nearby generic chinese takeout. read more

Well, we used to love this place. Not the most pleasant environment but food was amazing. Not anymore. We went tonight and ordered the same three dishes we always ordered: Dan Dan Noodels, Fish Dry Pot, and Cumin Lamb. All three dishes looked and tasted different than they did before. The noodles had a watery sauce. We ordered Mild, and fish and lamb came wth a TON of pepper. So spicy. There was a ton of pepper and onion and very little meat or anything else. The food lived up to the hype. It was really really good. I got the lunch special. Garlic Chicken, Won Ton soup, and white rice for $6.50. It was an very good price for that much food, especially that much good food. Unfortunately, I can't give more than two stars because the service was really terrible. I ordered for takeout. They told me to come in twenty minutes. Twenty-five minutes later when I arrived they did not have my order. Fine, I'll wait. and wait. and wait. The kind lady at the front was nice enough, but she was waaaaay too busy. I had to wait an extra twenty minutes for my food during my lunch break. I love the Han Dynasty in Manyunk so was happy to see one in the area. I went there once and the food was ok but not what I expected. I ordered takeout from there again (thinking maybe it was just that one time) and the food was horrible. The Dandan noodles were way over cooked and a bad texture, the honey shrimp had no flavor and the general tsos was really soggy. I paid $50 for bad chinese takeout. I will still go to the one in Manyunk but I'll never go to the Exton one again. Also, the service wasn't good. I was just picking up an order and they barely acknowledged me and seemed annoyed that I didn't remember the order number they provided me over the phone. read more
