Collagen beef soup with app of fried dumplings
    Cin C.

I really like these neighborhood spots that are small, quaint, a little run down but fully of heart and warmth. We were seeking some comfort food and decided some Korean stew would be the perfect antidote. Our server was very funny and recommended the collagen beef soup for all it's beauty benefits. I decided to humor him and ordered it. It was a surprisingly light broth with chunks of meat and plenty of flavor. I enjoyed it a lot with the bowl of white rice and the sides. Simple, delicious and filling.

    Bibimbap

Did I need to order two dishes? Absolutely not. I was pretty full halfway through the bibimbap bowl, but the chicken was so good, I kept picking at it despite bursting. The bibimbap is a very generous portion. The egg was perfectly runny and mixed with sauce, it was a flavourful bite every bite. The fried chicken was really well marinated. The batter was crispy on top, and saturated with a sauce that added a nice sweet/sour taste that cuts the fat and richness of the fried batter. Easily my favourite of the two dishes. I like that this place is very small and unassuming with a lot of parking unlike Yonge and Finch. I'll definitely return back to this place next time I'm in the area.

Han Oak Restaurant - Hot & Spicy Tofu Stew with Seafood, and Side Dishes

There aren't many Korean restaurants that are within a short drive from Woodbridge. Hence, we're excited to have stumbled upon Han Oak Restaurant, as it happened to be open on Christmas Eve. The restaurant has a fairly traditional setup similar to small places in Koreantown. The menu is a little pricier, but we knew it was a good option when the other groups dining were all Koreans! The owner was quite passionate about his menu. He proudly explained his house special collegen beef soup which was apparently stewed for 40 hrs. Instead, we ordered typical favourites: hot & spicy tofu stew and pork bone soup. We weren't disappointed as the stews for both bowls were rich & flavorful. The silky tofu blended well with the spicy broth and seafood bits. The pork bone soup was spicier than expected, but the tender meat absorbed plenty of kimchi flavor and was delicious as well. We had a satisfying dinner meal, and felt service was quite attentive too. The waitress was even kind enough to give a small portion of non-spicy broth to let our toddler sip & enjoy once cooled. Next time we may try one of their hotpot options which also seemed interesting. It's always nice to support a hardworking family-run restaurant.

3.5 Star Han Oak is small family owned Korean restaurant. The menu is quite limit but their specialty is Beef Bone Soup Seolleongtang . Grand Opening Special $8.99 instead of $10.99. I usually into spicy soup but I was glad that I have to non spicy version. The soup base is milky, creamy and full of flavour. No seasoning needed but you do have the option to add pepper and salt. There is always quite a few slice of beef shank and pieces of tripe. So comforting and hearty for a rainy wintery day. Banchan though quite limited but for Han Oak's soup is the star.

It's a hidden gem in a quiet plaza. I only come here for their beef bone soup. Definitely the most authentic beef bone soup in town.

The dry cold nasty chicken cutlet that tastes like it's not made fresh and the borderline below average beef bone soup
    Linda P.

Me and my boyfriend decided to try this location out when we saw this from the outside, we were excited to try a new restaurant that serves authentic Korean food. So I order the chicken cutlet and my boyfriend order the beef bone broth soup, I was so disappointed when I saw the chicken cutlet but still gave it a try to see if the taste is okay. The chicken cutlet tastes like cafeteria frozen chicken patties or maybe worse. I couldn't even finish it so I left it. My boyfriend said the soup was just average or borderline average. Definitely not coming back here

Some of the "chicken" that I got with my chicken teriyaki bento box. Disgusting.

So not only were we stressing about our first born, but personally I was also very stressed for my wife as I wanted to make sure she had a good recovery (as per traditional Cantonese ways). I can make some soups myself, but I just couldnt imagine being able to find the time. When we found Let's Soup we were elated as this was exactly what we were looking for in the GTA - A traditional Asian (Chinese) herbal soup place! Lets Soup is located at the corner of Yonge and 16th avenue on the South East corner at the base of the condo building. This is a very small store that is strictly for take out. When we first came to order it took about 15 minutes to prepare. We ended up ordering via messages on their Instagram account and was never disappointed with their service. Honestly I literally can not think of any other place that exists in the GTA (at least when we were looking) that offered this kind of service - Outside of hiring a "lai ma" to come and cook and cook for us. This was the next best thing and it was an absolute god send. I dont deny though, everyones taste is different, raised differently and of course different experiences with food and cooking. Unfortunately, I dont think there is any restaurant out there that can truely replace a parents cooking thats made with love - But Lets Soup is an extremely close second. My wife and I purchased some soup to try them out, and was happy enough that we decided to get the full "post partum recovery" set (pre paid for a set number of soups at a slight discount) So we had the chance to try many of their soups. Serving size was more then enough for 2 adults or one very hungy wife that just gave birth :) This was absolutely perfect for us, and we still went back even after we had the package to pick up more soups. I would absolutely not hesitate to recommend this place, as honestly what other places can compare? This is almost a one of a kind service in the GTA as far as I am aware On top of all this, I had nothing but excellent service every time I went. They were always friendly and happy, offered lots of advice for having a first child and were just over all awesome. I hope they can continue to improve and grow. Keep up the good work!

Most places only have those egg drop soups to buy (at least in rhill), which I'm not a big fan of. One of my favourites in general is the pork bone watercress soup and if you've ever handled watercress, you'd know it is a pain to clean so if I'm lazy, I'll buy that here. Great soups! I've been ordering a couple of times already and the soups are quite consistent. Such a cute mom n pop shop - they even cut their carrots into flowers! They got the Chinese mom approval from my mom if that helps. You also get fortune cookies! Side note: order ahead because you don't want to or even have an opportunity to park in this plaza while you wait and might have to go all the way around the first time since there's limited space (idk who planned this area but we have beef now).

The place is quite small and they get busy so expect some crowding. The food was delicious and had exceptional flavour and quality. My partner and I had the Bun Bo Hue (5/5) and the Grilled Pork and Chicken on Broken Rice (5/5). Bun Bo Hue was filled with meat and blood pudding. It was not as spicy as I had hoped it would be but the flavour profile was irresistibly good. Grilled Pork and Chicken on Broken Rice had ample portions of meat. They were tender and juicy. As I mentioned, the place gets busy and packed. We were a group of 8 and I tried to book a reservation a couple of days prior to our visit. To our disappointment, they did not accept reservations at all. The wait time was quite long since we were such a big group. This was quite hectic and stressful for the servers. Hopefully this can be considered in the future for big groups (8 people and above) to make the service smoother.

It's been around that long because the food and the prices are that good. I've stopped by here multiple times and always get the Old Fashioned Center Street Special on rye, medium (not lean) with extra meat. I've never been disappointed with this deli, the food is always delicious and tasty, the cuts of meat are fantastic, thick and juicy, and the fries are golden and crisp. It's a good deal for a good portion of food. The service is always friendly, with servers who are attentive, chatty and friendly. My only comment would be that because this Deli has been around for so long (as have I), I remember when I was little and the paint was fresh. But now it's been worn down and it's noticeable from the doorways to the chairs and tables. This staple of Thornhill is still delivering great food, but the restaurant itself needs some love and upkeep. A fresh coat of paint will go a long way. Even the washrooms (while very clean) have a smell to them. I believe it's time to give Centre Street Deli some love and freshen it up a bit for the younger generation.

On one end, it sounds like a run of the mill fast food joint (i.e. In and Out, Coffe Time), but the name doesn't do its Chinese name justice (Chinese name: Wellness Studio). On the other hand, the name does a great job of communicating the nature of its business: takeout and take home home style soup and meal. Regardless if you like their name or not, I think it's a good spot for this type of business. They manage to capture some of the passerbys and nearby white collar workers. On the other hand, it's not a high traffic mall, so the take home meals are a great way of increasing total customer spending. I'm basing this review purely on a takeout lunch of a steamed dried shrimp and preserve sausage and meat rice in lotus leaf. They really do a good job of balancing health and taste. I'm always wary of food that is healthy or healthier, but they end up tasting like cardboard. No such issue here. The rice on the surface looked kind of small. But they really didn't stinch on the preserved sausage and meat. The rice they used was the nice soft jasmine rice. They also purposely mixed in some quinoa. I forgot to mention that the rice also had a decent amount of dried scallop as well. Here are a few suggestions for improvement: A little bit less preserved meat and sausage, while adding more dried shrimp would be nice. The dried mushroom and shrimp can be a bit more aromatic and the lotus leaf flavour transfer can for sure be amped up. The lunch does come with home style boiled Chinese soup (or broth) and a herbal drink. Both of these were excellent. The items at Soup to Go are not cheap. The lunch with tax was just under $20. It is cliche, but you get what you pay for. Feel like drinking soup, but you don't know what is the soup of the day? You can check out their monthly schedule of soups!

The yelp and google fam did me right by giving this place a great review. I honestly didn't read any reviews, I just saw the 5 star and I was so pleasantly surprised to see that this place is a Korean owned mom and pop shop with the NICEST owners. Their kitchen caught my eye as I stood at the front counter. It displayed well used traditional korean cookware with a large wok as a center piece. This place isn't fancy but it has an adorable quaint charm to it. I didn't know what to order so I asked for their recommendation. The pop of the shop is so nice and explained everything on the menu to me with an understandable pleasant Korean accent. He was especially proud of their fishball soup that comes with the meal and he had good reason to be! After ordering in person he allowed me to wait at my car as he brought the meal when it was ready. It was only about 5 mins wait he came out and I met him half way saying one of 2 Korean phrases I know "!" and he was so happy as we bowed to each other after the exchange. It put a big smile on my face too lol. I decided on spicy chicken cup bap and omg when I got home I was so pleasantly surprised by the smells and flavors. I noticed I couldn't smell the food on the car ride home but when I opened up the package and spread out the spoils on my counter all the delicious aromas invaded my nose. The soup had the sharpest and alluring smell. It's a clear soup that reminded me of the Chinese soups I grew up consuming after a meal and it made my mouth water. I'm surprised I restrained myself long enough to have even taken a photo for this review. For $11 you get a nice portion of spicy gochujang chicken with arugula salad, tomatoes, japchae and rice at the bottom which was necessary to soak up the chicken's spicy sweet sauce! I was actually so happy eating it. The rice was cooked perfectly. The main dish paired with the pickled veggies and soothing fishball soup is perfect! So many different flavors, all very intense and all complimenting each other. You just kind of keeping going around eating main, soup, pickled veggies, smiling, and repeating. So much love and care was put into this meal, you really can't help but smile and appreciate it. TIP: You can order by phone. Their online menu is limited so I'd recommend calling!
