Came here for dinner on 8/30/12 after meeting up with an old colleague of mine. The Sushi was just OK and the Tempura shrimp could have been a lot better. I'm NOT particularly a fan of them squeezing lemon juice on every roll and even the scallop nigiri I got, to me if the fish & shellfish is fresh and held well it doesn't need to have it's flavor masked by lemon juice; besides it's fish and should have a fresh fish smell. Lemon Juice and tarter sauce are things I would put on a poor quality fish & chips to give it some flavor as they usually provide at places that use the lesser quality cod and whitefish in fish & chips. Seeing the lemon squeezed reminded me of this which is NOT good when planning to eat raw fish as you get bad images and past memories of bad tastes from masked fish and chips. The one good thing appears to be that they use fresh crab in their rolls versus the fake imitation crab, that's a HUGE plus and it made me wish that I ordered a California Roll. They should make it illegal for places to use the imitation crab which is essentially a fish and be able to call it crab. So I didn't order that much sushi as I've done in the past, all I got was a TNT roll, their special Alaska Roll, and 1 order of Scallop Nigiri along with a Large Hot Sachi which ran me $45 before tip; so this place is definitely NOT on the cheap side and I also think they used a LOT of mayo in the TNT roll as I typically get flem from eating things with high fat content or mayo and I got this here as well. I was a bit worried of the freshness of the Scallop Nigiri as they put a lot of wasabi between the scallop and the rice on top of the covering of it with lemon juice. I definitely got my sinuses cleared by the Scallop Nigir I would recommend that people order the combinations or chirashi for the lower price, and I probably won't come back to this place or any place in the Seattle area for Sushi. I tried another place the week prior and was disappointed as well based on the quality and price that I'm used to getting in the SF Bay Area. read more

So far the best high end sushi that I know of in the area. I love sushi and this place is not as great as my favorite place in San Diego or as Shiro's downtown, but it is very comparable, and definitely not worth crossing the bridge. Don't bother. Stopped here while in Bothell for business. Below average sushi and pretty high prices. The Spider Roll, wasn't really a Spider Roll, had an over fried hunk of something neither tasted nor looked nothing like softshell crab, more like a chicken nugget. Had an order of Hamachi and Hotate Nigiri, they were not chilled at all and tasted old, they put way to much wasabi on them I think trying to mask the old fish flavor. Sushi is a tricky little beast. Back in the day, it was easy to tell good sushi from bad. Now, most of it is so medicore the only thing you can really recognize is a good sushi place. Hana is one of the good ones. First, it should always be about the quality of the fish. To test this, I always get two things: A hand roll and a Cherashi bowl if they are offered. Here, both were and both were done well. First, the Hand Roll shows what kind of Sushi place you are dealing with-- most places will stuff them half with rice, half with fish-- Hana filled it with Spicy Tuna to where it was sprawling out. Delicious. Next-- Charashi. My god. Best Charashi I have had in some time. Delicious selections of fish, delicate and almost mouth watering-- this is particularly astonishing given that it is the middle of winter and fish in general isn't the best right now. The quality of fish here is substantial and we will be back again and again now. read more

If you read the reviews and visit this establishment, you will be disappointed. We happened upon this restaurant with our friends. Service was average meaning we had picked out everything we were going to eat before she took our drink order. The server forgot one person's food at our table. The food is not worth the money. The "Crunchy Roll" has 5 slices with the diameter so large you couldn't eat it without part of it coming out of your mouth (not attractive nor delicious). No one in our party particularly loved their food. For two people, each having 1 beer, we paid $60 for food I would never want to eat again. read more

I had high hopes when I saw other folks' ratings of this place, so it was a bummer to be disappointed. The sushi was only average, and the service was not great. I'd definitely pass this one by. Why? Read on. We were seated fairly promptly, but no one brought us menus, so we sat there awkwardly waiting for someone to appear with them. When we finally flagged someone down, to her credit, she did also take our drink order. Since we hadn't been here, we knew it would take a while to peruse the menu, and I asked her if we could order some of the veggie rolls ahead of time so we could nibble while we decided on the rest. A few minutes later we did decide, and put the rest of our order in (Prawn Tempura meal, TnT Roll, and Hana Roll). We got our Miso soup, my partner's salad, and tea fairly quickly, but still no sign of the veggie rolls. We waited...and waited...and waited. My partner's tempura plate came, but I was sitting there with nothing, feeling pretty hungry. Finally we flagged down the waitress (again), and asked where the veggie rolls were, at least. No one knew why the order vanished, but they did come a few minutes later. The rest of our order trickled over, so dinner took quite a while, and there were weird breaks just sitting there, hungry. It didn't seem that crowded, so I'm not sure what the excuse was (other than one of the chefs took a long break to sit with some friends that came in for a meal). Food: The tempura was good, and their dipping sauce was very nice. Pretty straight forward. The veggie rolls were nice, but a bit too big, and fell apart the second you picked them up. The Hana roll...not impressed. It was also more than a mouthful, but there wasn't anything spectacular about the flavour, it just seemed pretty plain. The TnT roll was fairly plain, despite being described as super spicy and intriguing. The salad dressing and the Miso soup were probably the best part of the meal, and for what it cost, that really shouldn't be! This was fairly expensive, so it was disappointing that it was only "OK". I've had better sushi at much less pricey establishments. We won't be returning. read more

I was drawn in by the 4 star rating. The sushi was average, the roll want packed properly. It was too big and fat making it difficult to eat. There also wasn't real wasabi available. Yes for those don't know most sushi restaurants serve green horse radish because it a 20 time cheaper and tastes almost the same. But it isn't real wasabi which is made fresh from a the wasabi root. Hana Sushi offers fairly quick service and a clean dining environment. The wait staff is friendly. The food is not so wonderful but edible. The miso soup tasted like a salty bouillon and nothing more. The salad was literally drowning in dressing. Sushi was okay and the teriyaki chicken was a bit too salty. Ultimately you get what you pay for. Hana Sushi restaurant won't hurt your wallet but it won't leave your palate entirely satisfied either! read more

Super duper average Japanese. We only come here because we're lazy and it's literally 3 minutes away from work. I would never bring people here for a meal or suggest it as a place to go. We were passing through Bothell on our way to BC, and it so happens to be my wife's birthday. She wanted sushi. We were in unfamiliar territory. Yelp to the rescue. Average sushi spot on my scale, but definitely quenched the sushi thirst after several days of eating burgers and grease on our road trip. They have a lot of rolls that i wouldnt order, like rolls with the words "spicy", "fried", and "cream cheese" in the descriptions. But the simple sashimi and nigiri were great. They were out of toro, but their hotate was very good. Good service and clean. My 2 year old also liked the aquarium they have at the bar with goldfish and turtles. Nice little place in the downtown area surrounded by antique shops and the like. I don't write many reviews anymore but I just wanted to give these guys 4 stars for being there when we needed them. read more

The fish quality is was decent but nothing amazing. There was really nothing special about this place except for the prices, which were way too high. My dad said the ownership might have changed because all the older sushi chef's that he had so much fun with were gone. Basically it looks like any mom and pop teriyaki joint but the prices are right there with what you would pay at a nice downtown sushi place. I got the deluxe sushi plate $20, 8 pieces of nigiri and some blah california rolls. $14 for teriyaki that is the same as you would get on the Ave for $7. The waitress was rather disinterested. One of the better neighborhood sushi joints. Main bragging point- real crab meat in Ca rolls, not "krab-with-a-k". Service- Cold towels for hot towel service? Otherwise attentive and helpful- offered to keep separate tabs before ordering. Food- Really good. Not the best ever, but def than 90% of sushi restaurants around Seattle. One thing- thought the spider roll would feature a lighter tempura batter for the crab, not breading. Maybe would have made it a little lighter. Get the scallop panko! Good friend and I came here for light dinner. We live far away from each other so we were there for a while taking our time eating and chatting for probably 3 hours. We were the last ones in there as the place just closed. I decided to go to the washroom before we left but when I was walking back to my friend, I saw dessert was just getting served. An old lady was approaching me, seemed like the owner of the place, said something that I couldn't understand with her accent. I just politely smiled and walked back to my friend. My friend told me that the old lady was asking her where we were from and she mentioned we don't see each other often because we live a little more than an hour apart. Apparently that meant we each deserve cute mochi desserts on the house. I love places this! The little unexpected things are awesome! We'll definitely go back when we're in the area again. read more

This is by far one of the best Sushi restaurants in the area. In near proximity, Ta-Ke Sushi (Canyon Park), is the only other joint that can compete with the quality of Hana Sushi. Hana wins me over in the end, only because they have a better venue. read more

They serve Gen Mai Cha which is toasted barley and brown rice steeped with green tea. So great during this hot weather we're having! I've tried several sushi places in the Bothell area and this one is the best! The Main Street Roll was gigantic and delicious, and their Prawn Tempura dinner was a great deal for as much as you get. We split it between two people along with the sushi roll and the tempura and were the perfect amount of full at the end of the meal. The staff was attentive and friendly, and did a great job of keeping our drinks full and coming over when we wanted to order or had a question. This is my new go-to sushi place in Bothell! read more
