Fresh Eel Roll, Hana Roll, and Spicy Salmon Roll
    Ming L.

Hana Sushi is a solid Sushi restaurant located off Main St. in Bothell. There's ample parking behind the building and you can also walk through the back exit if you'd like Went at 6:30pm on a Friday night and was able to get seated within a 5 minute wait. Restaurant is pretty thin and small so might not be true every evening. Service was attentive and food was solid for the price apps for $5 - $10, rolls for $6 - $16. Beers, sake, and wine - no spirits. The Karaage was surprisingly chicken-y. Very light fry / not that crispy which surprised me but still solid. Seaweed salad tasted like the same stuff you'd get at any restaurant (there must be some sort of monopoly manufacturer of fluorescent green seaweed salad stocking every Asian restaurant in the world) and was fresh. Would recommend the Hana roll and fresh eel rolls for sure - tasty and hearty without being overly salty or saucy.

The service was awesome! The fish was delicious! I am so happy I stopped here. Everything was a great price and once again just amazing.

Visited this neighborhood joint for a quick sushi fix. Solid 3! - great location on Main Street (parking lot in the back ) - loved the TNT roll with scallops on top - friendly staff - fast service and our order tasted fresh - sushi rolls are smaller here which surprised us. But it's nice for bite size bc I don't like a lot of rice and it's nice to avoid the weird too big sushi piece that won't fit in your mouth. - prices were reasonable - it's a smaller shop and the tables are kinda close together. Kinda feels like you're eating with the random neighbors at the table next door. This was disappointing since "the neighbors" were distracting. We'll be more conscious the next time we visit and choose our table accordingly. -agadashi tofu - large portion but lacked flavor

Fantastic sushi! Phenomenal quality and ultra Fresh fish! quality, we like to sit at the sushi bar and talk to the chefs and other patrons. This place is a true gem. It gets super busy, especially on weekends and they don't take reservations. So get here earlier rather than later to avoid a rush or a wait. Food was really really great and worth the wait regardless.

Extremely slow. Took over 45 min for them to make our rolls and ended up having to get them to go due to having an appointment.

Always delicious. Great staff. We've been going for 30 years. It's awesome! Sushi is always fresh. Tempura is hot, crunchy & fresh.

Yet, it's disappointing to say that we've been sourly disappointed the last 2-3 times we came here. Not sure if it's management change or something happened, but Nakagawa lost its magic with us. 1. The service has been terribly slow and just not inviting anymore. After ordering, we waited easily 35-40 min for the food. I know it takes time to meticulously prep rolls, but after 30 min of just sitting and waiting, you can't help but start feeling hangry. And this isn't just a one-time occurrence - this happened multiple times for us. 2. The bento box quality. I LOVE bento boxes - it was such a treat to dine on so many different Japanese options, like a sampler box of goodness. Ranging from nigiri to sushi, from tempura to the soup, bento boxes have a special place in my heart. Yet, I feel like Nakagawa's bento boxes have sadly missed that mark. The protein (chicken teriyaki/katsu) tastes old and oddly mushy, and the portions are quite small, just leaving me wanting more. Don't get me wrong - the fish is still good. Solid place for seafood, paired with a lengthy wait. But Nakagawa just lost its touch with us, and driving that 30-35 min trek is not worth it for us anymore.

The menu changes seasonally, and they host special events once or twice a month with unique fixed food and drink pairings-so there's always something new to try (and the events are a blast). And if you sit at the bar (highly recommend!), Cameron and Michael take it to another level. They're both talented, passionate and a lot of fun. They're always happy to make something off-menu or surprise us with bartender's choice. They've definitely turned us into cocktail snobs lol. And the food absolutely holds its own. We originally came for the cocktails on another bartender's recommendation, but we were blown away by how good everything has been. The ribeye is easily as good (or better than) steaks I've paid twice as much for elsewhere. The burger and fries are among the best around-and these days, one of the best deals anywhere if you go during happy hour. Similar can be said for everything else on the menu; we've had every appetizer, entree and side dish at least twice :P And since we're usually posted up at the bar, when there's a lull we sometimes get to chat w/ the kitchen, and it's clear they take real pride in what they do. It's just an awesome place with awesome people! :)

We split an udon dish ($12.95), ordered 5 sushi plates + 1 order of crab rangoon but the portions felt quite small for the price. We waited about 25 minutes before anyone noticed our water glasses were empty. At one point, I tried to get a staff member's attention for a refill, and they told me to hold on while they grabbed a white to go bag for another table in front of us. Unfortunately, they never came back, and we ended up waiting even longer. My friend and I's total came to about $41 per person after tip, and I left feeling disappointed with the value for what I received. For a similar price point, I personally prefer BittyFish in Lynnwood, where I have found the portions, quality, and overall experience to be better. Sushi Zone was not terrible, but it was not memorable enough for me to return. The flavor was good, the place is pretty clean and stocked though for options. Just wish the prices were better priced for the portion or the portions were bigger to match the price. Felt a little scammed.

The noodles held up really well. Good thickness and had that good chewy bounciness to it too. I would say the broth met expectations - rich flavors that may be a bit too salty for the unaware. I didn't see any offer to top off the dipping broth with daishi broth (soup-wari). Not a deal breaker though! The chicken kaarages were a little disappointing because they didn't lock down the texture. It was crispy for some part and kinda soft for others. They sat us at a relatively private area since we are here with a toddler that requires a high chair. We ordered the lunch special Kalbitang ($22.99), Bossam set ($23.99), and the spicy chive pancake ($9.99). They provided kids utensil and a plate, which is super helpful even though we didn't ask for it. Our food came after 10-15 min of wait, and there were 10 side dishes (all of them are delicious btw). We also got a side salad and fish cake soup, which might be a lunch special thing? I'm not sure. I'm not a big fan of the salad dressing, but it's complimentary so no complaints there. Everything we ordered was delicious. There were tons of chives in the pancake, and the meat was tender in kalbitang. My toddler also ate a lot of pork, beef, rice, eggs (in kalbitang), and broccoli. The only downside is that there is only one waiter taking care of orders/bills, so it could be a bit slow. However, everyone was friendly to my toddler and a waitress came to check on us in the middle of our meal too. She also smiled at my toddler as well. The only downside is that we asked for tea, but we got water instead. I had to ask again, but that mistake is really minor. I prefer this location over the Lynwood one as that one is always way too busy and super noisy. It's quieter here and the ambiance is better. Overall, we had a good time dining here with our toddler. There is also a changing station in the bathroom as well.
