Today I got to try the Tempura Udon and it was very tasty. Also, the service was very friendly and helpful.

Love this place! Have the garlic ahi and red dragon roll every week lol. Very generous with the cuts.

Food: first time here, and the sushi was delicious, everything we got hot the spot! We got water bottles instead of regular glass cup which I thought was very cool and fancy (haha), and that was complimentary! Service: it wasn't busy when we went so we got our food quick! Ambiance: it was a cute place to eat, nothing fancy

Stopped by Hana Sushi and really enjoyed it. It's a nice little spot with a cozy vibe, and the servers were friendly and attentive. We had some sushi, and everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. Parking is available, which is super convenient. Overall, a solid place for a casual sushi meal. I'd definitely come back.

Hana Sushi is a small business that's very cleanly & minimal. The restaurant offered a variety of sushi choices & udon. The service was excellent, the sushi chef & waitress was very kind & patient with my party. The food was very flavorful, inside of the poke bowl there were takoyaki/tempura flakes which added a crunchy texture to the poke bowl. I personally enjoyed dining at Hana Sushi & would recommend getting a hamachi roll or poke bowl!

Did takeout for lunch and ordered a lava roll sushi with chicken karaage. It was the first thing I ate today except yogurt for breakfast so the roll was extra tasty. I'm a big onion fan so I love the thick cut onions in the tuna. Chicken karaage was crunchy, hot and fresh when I picked it up but I wished it came with a sauce like spicy mayo or something to dip it in.

Our experience was amazing! We are on vacation and not only were we impressed with the presentation of the food, but the customer service was great. The sushi was DELICIOUS and prepared quickly. This location is BYOB which is super fun! We will definitely be suggesting Hana Sushi to future vacationers! Also the music playlist was top tier!

Lava Flow Roll (8 pieces): Cali roll topped with spicy ahi and green onion. Super good! Recommend!!!

Hana Sushi is located right along Keahole St. in Hawaii Kai Shopping Center. Opposite the side with McDonald's. I walked into have lunch by myself and was greeted right away. I waited a bit by the door, awkwardly looking at the menu because I didn't know it was seat yourself. Most places in town are not seat yourself XD This place is seat yourself though. I was given a bottle of water when I sat down. This is how they serve their water, no cups. Chopsticks, napkins, shoyu and hand sanitizer are self serve on the table. The servers were a few younger guys. There were a few tables. Initially with my first sushi roll I wasn't offered any wasabi or pickled ginger. Service got better after a table left. Later on after I got my second sushi roll, I was offered wasabi or pickled ginger, but by then I declined. I knew from looking at the Yelp pictures earlier that I wanted to try the 'Lava Flow Roll' (8 pieces): California roll topped with spicy ahi and green onion. This was super super delicious. And I totally recommend it. You can taste the freshness in the spicy ahi on top and they give a generous portion. I also sampled the 'Ika Geso Karaage/ deep fried Squid legs.' This was freshly fried. Hot and steamy, which I appreciated. Though some parts where slightly raw. I decided to chance it anyway because tentacles are my favorites. And then I debated on ordering another roll. I decided to go for the 'Sunset Roll' (8 pieces): shrimp tempura, cucumber + on top: spicy ahi, crab mayo, crispy tempura flakes. It sounded really good when I looked at the menu... but I'd say you should pass on this one. The shrimp tempura inside isn't freshly fried and by the time it makes its way into the roll, its pretty soggy and sad :( The toppings on top are interesting but they aren't the same volume as on the Lava Flow. I really should've just gotten another Lava Flow *face palm*.

For some reason it's hard to find good, authentic Japanese food in Hawaii Kai. I always have to go into town to get it. There's definitely a restaurant opportunity for someone! I've driven past Hana Sushi a million times since it's in the Hawaii Kai shopping center which is near my residence. Plenty of parking is available in the shared lot. They're right next door to a liquor store and close to Safeway. I was craving sushi and I wasn't too hungry, so I just ordered their salmon skin roll to go. Big mistake. I'm not even sure that there was any salmon skin in the roll! I think there was a little bit of salmon, but the rest was filled with cucumbers, masago and radish sprouts. Five little pieces for $10. I can't comment on the service since I ordered my sushi roll to go, but the inside seemed clean and spacious with a nice sushi bar set up. In addition to sushi, they offer various rice bowls such as chirashi, poke, tonkatsu, etc. They also have fried foods like tempura, gyoza, etc. Perhaps I'd return in the future to try other dishes, but I don't think I'd order sushi from there again.

    Is this place BYOB?

Hana Sushi is BYOB, which just adds to the attraction of Hana Sushi. They added a few new items like an oyster shooter to the menu that goes very well with beverages.

Every year, my mom honors the September birthdays in our family- sister (9/4), niece (9/14), hubby…read more(9/23), and nephew (9/28)- by treating the whole family to dinner. This year, she chose Hangang in Niu Valley. I've been wanting to try Hangang by Ala Moana and had no idea this location existed! Let's do it! Ample parking available in their adjacent lot and location is convenient (restaurant is right off Kalanianaole Hwy)... two very important factors for a sustainable business. Our party was seated quickly by attentive servers. Major props to the staff for maintaining a superbly clean space. For a Korean BBQ joint, there's many places for grease and splattering oil to collect. The metal fixtures and tables were wiped down throughout our dining experience. Banchan was freshly prepared and delicious, with a dozen choices for our table of 10. Our singular table of 6 selected Choice A and Choice B, with add-on Pork Belly to share. Boy, the meats did NOT disappoint. The Prime Beef Skirt is my go-to fave at BBQ joints--- it's a perfect ratio of juiciness, lean-to-fat, and tenderness. Complimented nicely with white rice, kim chee, shoyu potato, mac salad, and choi sum... mmm, Achievement unlocked! The husband and mother enjoyed the Prime Sirloin Steak, and my sons (ages 7 and 9yrs) enjoyed all the meats but loved the pork belly the most. Pro Tip: Cook one side of the meat until it "sweats" blood, then flip once and serve when cooked to your pleasure. Juiciness maximized. For dessert, the server recommended the ice cream (more like a sorbet). Fresh pineapple and strawberries are blended to make a refreshing, cold treat for the entire group. You can also bring your own dessert, so we had a Don Quixote birthday cake to accompany the frozen treats. Will definitely return! Come starving and you'll leave saying 존맛탱 (jon-mat-taeng) with zero regrets.

NEW SUNDAY BRUNCH SPOT AT THE ORIGINAL ROY'S!…read more Well, they did it again! They brought a new bloody mary to the menu. Of course, I had to try it. It had a little twist of kim chee, celery and olive on a skewer. It was the perfect kick to a wonderfully manicured cocktail. My friend Dejon N Ohelo Kaopio had a pog mimosa. The way they do that sauce was wanting me to pick up the plate and lick it. Folks, it was that good! Take the bread and get every morsel. The seared ahi was good but more like a canape or open sandwich. The bacon was super onolicious. We had an amazing server named Cal.
