Haven't been to Kuru Kuru since going to the Pearl Kai location. We did come at the busy 1230 lunch hour so place was packed. Had a good 25 min walk wait for tables to clear. However once we were seated, our order was quickly taken and food came out a short wait later. I'm glad they still had a Black Friday special for a Hamachi Don for $8.75. That was great value of the meal. The hamachi was nice and buttery. Also ordered the Salmon belly, nice crisp outside and soft and melt in your mouth inside. Wow how prices have risen since my last visit. That's ONE WOOOOOOOOFFFFFFF bumping the review down a bit. $70 lunch for my lil fam of 3. Although we did over order, so we got three containers of take out.

It's been a while since we last came. Used to be a good deal for some quick sushi, but things have gotten more pricey. Overall, the sushi is about the same as before. Service was pretty good. It was not crowded when we went for dinner. Good place to stop by for something quick before a movie or in the neighborhood.

Been coming here for years. The evening we came for a quick dinner. When we got there it was a short wait to get seated at the bar. Servers were really quick and nice. We had hot tea and they made sure to keep us topped off. I got a spicy tuna bowl and it's my go to. The rice is seasoned and the tuna comes in cube chunks and the spicy mayo sauce is not heavy or super spicy. It was nice and quiet at the time we came by. Noticed they also wasn't using the space behind the belt bar and all the food was coming from back of the house. Maybe because it's just not used anymore. The food was pretty reasonably priced for these days.

I haven't been to kurukuru in ages. The menu is smaller than other conveyor belt sushi restaurants but to the point. Has it been so long that I haven't ate here that I realized they raised their prices? Besides the price change, the quality of the food is still really great! I love how they give thick pieces of fish for the nigiri and use good quality. They also had curry bowls, udon, etc. I tried the plain udon and loved how the noodles weren't super thick. Broth was really good too. My favorite is the seared salmon w/ white onions!! So good and thinking about it now makes me crave for it. The employees were really on it during our visit. I left feeling happy and full.

It was very nostalgic coming back here to my hometown mall and trying out a childhood favorite. Unfortunately, this place has gone downhill. The prices have gone way up and the quality has dropped. Service was quick and there was surprisingly no wait despite it being dinner time rush hour which now makes sense after experiencing it for the first time in years. The food tasted not as fresh as I remembered, despite ordering it and not taking it off the conveyer belt. Prices have also literally doubled. My advice, skip on this joint and walk across the hall to Goma Tei Ramen!

Came here last weekend and waited for about 10 minutes to be seated so it wasn't too bad. The server came to us a few minutes after we sat down and asked if we were ready while we had no menu and no water. I guess maybe a little short staffed so they were rushing? Otherwise service was ok throughout the meal. Food was ok but felt like could have been better especially the food was slightly overpriced imo.

Sushi is expensive that's why I don't come here but friend wanted to have lunch here! Udon and 2 hand roll California rolls plus tip close to $20. And I was still hungry! Service was attentive as it wasn't crowded!

The only thing really worth getting here is the poke bowls. They're the best value on the menu. The inaris are good too, especially the spicy hamachi, and they're huge, but honestly not worth the price.

Great Service and food was Delicious area was clean, wait wasn't long was quick. Prices reasonable. Family and date or just to go out and have a great meal is the best place.

Their prices are almost fine dining restaurant prices but decent service and they do give you a decent amount of portion that can fill you up. For 2 adults and 2 kids (we just got them the $5 fries, $4 cucumber maki) and with taxes and 20% tip was $150. That's almost like eating at a fine dining restaurant or a more upscale sushi restaurant like Doraku.

Dynamite don, ika karaage, seared garlic ahi, mushroom tempura, and seared garlic hamachi

There are meals one enjoys. Meals one admires. Meals one respectfully documents, notes the flavor balance of, and later describes using words like "elegant" and "well-executed." And then there are meals that rock your world. This was one of them. Kaiten sushi, or conveyor belt sushi, is a casual, affordable Japanese dining style invented in 1958 where plates of sushi rotate on a motorized belt passing diners, allowing them to select dishes directly. Here at Kaiten Sushi Ginza Onodera, it's not the typical catwalk of pre-made maki rolls, nigiri, and other offering. You order off a kiosk and then it is fast-tracked to your table via sushi belt. Here at Kaiten Sushi Ginza Onodera, you are granted the ability to try their Edomae-style sushi for a more affordable price. Edomae-style sushi is a traditional Tokyo cuisine originating in the 1820s, featuring seafood, often cured, marinated, or simmered, served atop rice seasoned with red vinegar (akasu). It focuses on enhancing fish flavor through technique rather than just raw freshness, historically acting as fast food for 19th-century Edo residents. That said, dare I say the best meal I had during my stay on Oahu? I DARE! This was an excellent place suggested by Randy S. I really can't tell you all we had because Randy took charge but every bite? Certified bangers. Not one bad bite had. Pro-tip: If you want to feel like you are being mugged by Neptune, the God of the Sea, have the chawanmushi. Oceanic and delish!

The food came rather quickly. It is fun to see the other orders whizzing by. I was with a group of 9 so we were at. two different booths, only one iPad per table. The pesonal service was minimal. I miss seeing the sushi chef in person. The sushi that I had was delicious and the preparations were unique (to me) the pieces were smallish, but so yummy. I would have ordered more but I was not very assertive and everyone wanted the iPad . Most of the nigiri orders were only one at the price point I am used to paying for two and I prefer the experience of sharing. My husband at the other table sampled more than I did. Deep fried Octopus and Toro, I had Yellow Tail and Carpacio, sample two rolls. Big surprise, the French fries were outstanding. The check worked out to about 50 pp. I think that was mostly my husband who enjoyed an array of dishes. As mentioned in other reviews, the bill stacks up quickly. I given them 4 stars for uniqueness, mostly.

Got a Tuna Handroll Temaki, 2 orders Spicy Ahi, Salmon Kama and Salmon Bone. Holy moly the prices are crazy now. $6 for tuna salad temaki. However, when I went I felt that the rice was a little mushy and undercooked. It was nice and warm but the rice to fish ratio was a little off. The fish, fresh, the nori, crunchy and toasted, but the rice.... It kind of ruined it for me. Anyway, that doesn't stop me from coming back, but it was just this time, it wasn't it.

Somehow, I was there at the wrong time, or I didn't have a plan to go to Maguro-Ya. This time, we made a decision to meet for lunch. We didn't have a reservation. I parked in the residential area for free and walked a couple of blocks to the restaurant. Service was very polite and efficient. The interior was cozy and seemed authentic. I didn't feel any air-conditioning, so drinking hot tea was a bit challenging. I let my miso soup cool off before I drank it. I got the Maguro Zukushi Teishoku ($1.50 less during lunch vs. dinner) because it had a variety of Maguro: grilled, deep fried, and raw. I could taste the miso flavor on the grilled fish. I appreciated the crunchy breading on the ahi katsu. The sashimi was fresh! The assortment of sides and beautiful presentation was worth the visit to this established eatery! When the Michelin inspectors come to Hawaii, this is tipped as the most-likely frontrunner for recognition. So with all that hype, I was mildly underwhelmed. Temper your expectations, and you'll fall in love. The sushi rice is among the best I've ever had (and I've had quite a bit of the high-end omakases on the mainland). The selection of fish goes mostly to the expected (lots of tuna, uni, amberjack, etc.). Standouts for me included rarer cuts, or cuts made with such precision they revolutionized taste. The octopus was tenderized to perfection. The signature fatty tuna was perfect. And scallops were revolutionized. Save room for the "extra" menu - I understand how it can annoy people that you already paid a premium, and then there's a second menu with even more fun things to try.
