Stumbled into this place while walking around the neighborhood and glad I did! The food is decent with a good selection of made to order and premade bento boxes and rolls. This place is definitely a hole in the wall spot run by a nice Asian couple. Prices are definitely on the lower side so I'll probably be back again!

A very good bento restaurant with economical prices. A lot of good choices like shrimp tempura roll, noodles, spring rolls, sushi platters. A bang for your buck. Located across blaisdell center on kapiolani .

Lunch in Honolulu, Hawaii... We wanted a quick, simple lunch and found Paradise Bento and Sushi. It took the place of Hi One Sushi at the corner of Kapiolani Boulevard and Ward Avenue. The interior is quite spacious! We entered the parking structure from Kapiolani Boulevard, but there's also a less busy entrance/exit from Waimanu Street. I've been to Mr. Tea, next door, in the same building. Service was efficient and polite. "Aunty" was cashier while "uncle" was in the back doing some prepping. I got the Rainbow Roll and enjoyed the healthy avocado and imitation crab. The rice was just right! I also got and unsweetened green tea in a bottle - ahhh! I think I would be happier if there was air conditioning. Even though the door was open, it felt warm to me. Other than that, I appreciate the free, covered parking and relatively inexpensive meal! Thank you! I felt satisfied and not stuffed!

Bento to go... Paradise Bento and Sushi is exactly that a place you can find ready made grab and go various bentos and on this visit it was mostly chicken with chicken katsu and chicken teriyaki to choose from along with grilled salmon and butterfish as well is found right on the counter and in the display case are filled with various sushi which many seems to have similar ingredients like imitation crab is totally not my vibe but do love as it's all packed very nice and labeled with name and price so that there's no question of what you're getting. The vibe though really needs work as it seems like they poured it all in to the bentos that the rest of the shop is basic along with no air conditioning it was a bit stuffy but after a morning filled with errands I was hungry and decided on the Teri chicken bento which was so nice and flavorful not salty and had done right the rice was disappointing as it was very mushy...probably rushed and not steamed properly is concerning considering they make sushi as well. Prices are reasonable at $6.99+ tax the convenience of Nine O Nine parking garage is free and with direct access from the garage to the various tenants they have is the unusual connection to this small biz. Thank you!

We ordered the short ribs, lobster appetizer, hamachi crudo and lastly sashimi moriawase to finish food palate. Lukki lemon dessert was great way to end to night. Ordered the Milk tea bouquet cocktail while my better half had water ( either way the food coma knock him out cold the rest of the night lol). To be honest, it was difficult to determine which dish was the best because the staff kept quality there despite it being busy every night since they announce the closure. Sashimi moriawase, fish was so fresh, reminded me of my time spent in Hokkaido and Sapporo. Short ribs was soft and rich in flavor. Both me and my fiance liked the lukki lemon dessert, like lemon meringue pie but broken down version. If you have a chance to dine here before closing and got a reservation, definitely will have a lovely dining experience and your stomach will be full by end of the night.

Waiter gave us GREAT recommendations as it was our first time. Let's talk about the food. My top 3 dishes of the night -- 1) Uni charwanmushi - to DIE for. So much flavor, so much protein. 2) the beef skewers - incredibly tender. We ended up ordering another order bc it was so good. 3) sushi- Negitoro, torotaku, spider roll and spicy tuna... the rice and fish texture was just so perfect. The fish tasted fresh and the rice to fish ratio was a 10/10. Ambiance: chill, friendly, not too loud and everyone was so respectful. I'm craving it as I type this. So yeah, check it out. I also don't understand how Yelp lists this place as a "good for kids". It's not. There wasn't a kids' menu and the dishes were not kid-palate friendly (other than maybe the basic California style hand roll). For example, the fried tofu had shredded ginger on top that permeated the dish and the karaage had a very mild (but present!) note of spice that reminded me a bit of buffalo sauce. Our waiter didn't even give us a heads up or point us in the direction of any dishes to consider for the kids (surely we must not be the only family who has brought kids to this restaurant). Lastly, I understand that the tempura brownie is popular but after tasting the "tempura" on the tofu I'm sure the brownie is just the star that shines through. The "tempura" on the tofu was gummy and not the authentic Japanese tempura we are used to (my husband, who is part Japanese, said to me "What is this?! Cornstarch?"). This is probably a great restaurant for drinks and hanging out with some adult friends but the rolls and appetizers were just not to our tastes. We were also sat outside when the restaurant was near empty inside and out (we went around 4PM) and it was a hot day (though the AC wasn't particularly cool enough for my preference inside either).

Every piece of sushi was beautifully presented not overwhelming. You can really tell the chefs put a lot of thought into the balance of flavors and textures. The chefs and staff also had a good sense of humor. At one point they served kinki fish and jokingly explained that the English translation sometimes gets called "idiot fish," which got everyone laughing at the counter. Although they have a clean and comfortable space for dining in, we regularly stop by after church or on the weekends for something to savor at our favorite park. Seriously, it's easy to enjoy their bowls, sushi sets, or bentos anytime and anyplace. We've got a passion for this place. Here's how this love affair started...I discovered Domo when a friend invited me for some sushi and sips at her place. I was amazed at the beautiful platter of sushi that accompanied our sake and wine. My friends are the best hosts! I devoured the bombs, nigiris and rolls (in between sips!). Everything was simply delicious! Fast forward a few months, I order a couple sushi sets to host a poolside, golden-hour birthday get together at my other friend's home. (I know, you want to be part of this squad, right?!). Anyway, using the online order system is a snap! My hubby went in to pick up the sushi and said they were slammed but our sushi sets were ready to go. This time we ordered some ikura because the hubby and my bestie are big fans. Both agree it was fresh and fantastic! And the garlic set with the flash-seared fish and a hint of mayo is a MUST-try. We also ordered a California roll for my friend's aunt who is not really a sushi fan. She delighted in several pieces and even enjoyed the nigiri from the garlic set. Total convert! After enjoying the platters and sets, we had to try the bentos and bowls. This time it's just us and the pup at the park. The bentos provide a great variety and comes with miso soup. The hubby really likes the shrimp tempura with ahi and salmon nigiri and ahi poke. It's a steal at less than $20. I'm a bowl girl myself and like the spicy tempura. The tempura is cooked crisp yet tender. The spicy ahi poke combined with the creamy crab salad and the crunchy ocean salad delights all my tastes buds. It's truly an adventure in finding the perfect bite--and there are so many in this bowl! I also love the seared salmon bowl. It is melt-in-your-mouth goodness. I add the fried onions for some texture. You know a place is top-notch when you can feel confident that anything off their menu will satisfy your cravings. Because this is a Yelp review, here are some helpful tips. For sushi platters, pre-order. The online system is simple to use. Service is fast and efficient if you're just walking in for a quick bite or to grab something to go. Parking has always been easy for us to find in the small lot in the complex where Domo is located. It's right next to Assagio's Kahala. But if you're worried about parking, I suggest ordering in advance and then just picking up. This works great during peak dining hours. If you want fresh, delicious sushi that is reasonably priced be like us and visit Domo Café. You will probably also be like us and want to go back to try more.
