I am queen of Sushi as I lived in San Diego for over 25 years and have had the best places around. I never start with fresh ahi Tuna until I know if they can do make the "easy" items. I placed a to go order of 3 crunchy shrimp tempura rolls with rice paper. Easy pee-see. My mother, daughter and myself were so excited as each one of us devour our own order. I was in the area and hungry, so I thought I'd stop in for a late lunch. Due to the hour, there weren't many people there. I sat at the sushi bar. The lunch specials were nothing very special, especially the price. In general, this place is expensive. More expensive than it should be. It looked like it had a nice outdoor area. I'd have gone out there, but it was just too hot. But I'm sure it's a great option for dinner. I assume the waitress thought she was being helpful, but she kept coming by to ask if there was anything I needed. I mean, like five or six times. Too many times. Also it was always when I was responding to a text or something, rather than while I was eating. I began to feel as though she felt if I were sitting there and not shoveling food in my maw, then she felt I was wasting her time or their space. She also brought the bill while I was still eating. Delicious sushi and awesome service. We went for my bday dinner from out of town and I was so pleased with the freshness and the large portions. Typically large portion sushi = bad quality in my experience, not this time! Such delectable tuna - yellowtail, albacore, blue fin... all amazing. Great staff. We will be back again! We have been coming to this place since it's inception. In the past I would have given them 5 stars just about every time. Tonight we decided to head over for dinner, having not been out in a very long time. Service was okay, better than some places but could be better. We ordered the calamari, the mixed tempura, and 4 different rolls. The tempura was super oily and the oil tasted old. The two "fresh" rolls were very good, especially the Golden Hana roll which is always a good choice. The Temecula roll was also good. The popcorn lobster roll was not good. I've had it in the past and this was different and not good. The spicy tuna with crispy rice was, well, awful. We shared one piece and left the rest. The crispy rice was oily and tasted like old oil. The tuna, well, seemed like cat food. It was super spicy, which we like, but inedible for many other reasons. We asked for the check and when we were asked if we needed a box we said we did not and we explained why. If almost all the food is eaten, especially by two people, if something is hardly touched there is usually a good reason. He questioned us about what was wrong with it. We didn't ask them to take it off the check but they didn't offer to either. Will we go back? Sure. Everyone has an off night. Will we order differently? Most definitely. read more

Fantastic yellowtail and yellowtail Kappa which is pan fried yellowtail cheek and it was just delicious and clean. The sashimi is the standout of this restaurant. Generous cuts of the freshest fish. Crunchy, large pieces of tempura fried to a light crisp not heavy breaded like I've taste before. Slightly expensive but very worth the freshness and flavor of true sashimi and nagiri . Went there for dinner last ans ordered some sashimi with gluten free soy sauce and one of the rolls from their menu that specifies gluten free. One of the waitresses then started talking about some of the other gluten free items and how next time just let them know I need to be gluten free and they can adjust almost any roll to meet my needs. Really really good food, really really bad service. Dined her for the first time a few weeks ago after my boyfriend raved about the sushi (which he normally orders to-go/ doesn't normally deal with the servers). Originally, we had a young male server who greeted us promptly and seemed nice enough. He took our order and I asked him how the poke salad came. He said it was a large amount of fresh fish on salad. Cool, I thought, as I was looking for a salad. What he did not say was the poke salad is more of large sashimi slices on a bed of SEAWEED. I am not a fan of seaweed OR sashimi and when our food came out server was no where in sight so I just ended up sharing with my boyfriend. After about 25 minutes of seeing no server we flagged another lady down. I let her know that I was not a fan of the "poke salad"as it was not really a poke salad but more of large sashimi pieces on top of seaweed and mentioned how I had asked the previous server about it and he did not mention this. I then asked if I could swap it out for the I Love Salmon Roll (which was cheaper in price). She rolled her eyes and said that she'd check with her manager. She came back later and said that I can have the I Love Salmon Roll but would have to pay for both the roll and "salad." I told her I didn't even touch the salad because I know I'm not a fan of sashimi or seaweed. She then raised her voice, yes literally raised her voice, and very clearly said "If you don't like sushi then don't come to a sushi spot." I happen to LOVE sushi. I proceeded to explain that I was expecting a sushi salad with rice, avocado, spinach etc.. but she just LAUGHED and WALKED AWAY!!! Awesome sushi place in the IE. What, Temecula ppl don't consider themselves "IE?" As you can gather from some of my other reviews, I go out to eat sushi a lot. Hana ranks as one of the best around. Jake, the proprietor, often works behind the counter, slicing and dicing. Service is friendly and prompt. Some of my favorites include the roll that comes on a stick (sorry, I don't recall its name). It contains several types of fish, small veggies, no rice and it's wrapped in cucumber. The taste is refreshing and not heavy at all. My husband and I also like their rainbow roll, dragon roll, caterpillar roll, oh, and their salmon hand roll = OUTSTANDING! They could not be more generous with their salmon slices if they tried. Prices seem in line with many other establishments around. It's not cheap and that's certainly not what you get as far as quality. For Yelpers, they reward you/us by giving you 10% off your bill when you check in, plus they have a bonus rewards card. Every time you dine there and present your rewards card, they add a fraction of your bill amount to the "bonus amount." You're not charged more or anything. When the "Bonus amount" gets to $20, you can use it like $20 in cash toward your bill. read more

We stopped by for an early lunch and were lucky enough to be the first couple seated. The restaurant is very well decorated and had a lot of seating inside and outside. I noticed the bathroom had a lot of graffiti but I understand you unfortunately can't get away from that. The service was great, even with a constant flow of groups walking in needing service. Salmon, Tuna, Yellow tail, Sweet Shrimp, Yellow tail collar, hand rolls, and more. I'm still questioning whether the sweet shrimp was live or previously frozen, as it didn't have that sweetness normally found. What did stand out was the amount of Rolls that were ordered by other patrons. Perhaps that is where all the flavor is. Unfortunately, not really into "rolls", yes they can be quiet good but I come for the fresh sushi and Sashimi. Its too bad cause I wanted to like the place.
