Also, because it was only 3$ and that's cheap for milk tea. But the milk tea was not gooooood. I ended up getting something else which was the lychee one. They seem to have the freshest choices out of the other póke options in town. I've tried their kale noodles and was pleasantly surprised. Their rice is always moist and flavorful. Call me surprised, but I wasn't expecting to give a high review on a poke place right after my Hawaii trip last week. I came here with the bf for lunch, because they have the teriyaki chicken/beef options for the fish-averse (i.e., the bf). The waitress asked me if this was my first time there. I said yes. She then proceeded to explain to me what poke is. I was amused and let her finish explaining. DEETS: They have a chipotle-style business model, where you get to pick 3 scoops of rice/greens for a large poke, 3 scoops of any protein (eel is $1 extra), and unlimited toppings. SERVICE: The waitress must have been new because (1) she gave me sriracha mayo when I said "sriracha" (the hot sauce); (2) she forgot the teriyaki beef in the back for my bf's bowl; (3) she forgot half of the items typically on the teriyaki beef bowl, like mango salsa. Otherwise, this chipotle style concept worked well and I was able to customize each bowl to me and my bf's tastes. Both mistakes were ultimately corrected. FOOD: The food was great. The seafood didn't look that fresh when I approached the counter for some reason, but everything I had in my bowl tasted fresh. I love that they have chicken/beef so that people like my bf can eat there too. I also like the unlimited toppings because honestly, veggies are not that costly and add so much to the enjoyment. The Hana rice didn't taste that different from regular sushi rice, though. read more

The poke bowls can be prepared as desired, from traditionally simple as you'd find it in Hawaii to a modern mosaic inspired by Japanese sushi. Even those that dislike raw fish will enjoy Hana as the protein options include cooked seafood, chicken, steak, tofu, and seaweed. Or skip the protein for a price reduction and equally delicious results! The salted milk foam on the drinks is genius. The hardest part is picking your poke sauce(s)! All are tasty. I would recommend picking one soy sauce base (least to most sweet: shoyu, ginger shoyu, citrus ponzu, unagi, and teriyaki) and a second sauce for richness and heat (least to most spice: sesame dressing, sweet gochujang, sriracha aioli, and wasabi mayo). My typical order: kale noodle or sushi rice base, tuna and scallop poke with unagi sauce and sriracha aioli, krab and spicy krab ($1 extra), seaweed salad (worth the try!), edamame, kale, carrot, furikake, chili flakes, and crispy garlic.
