His team handles a 15' x 33' foot pool and 7' x 7' spa, a built in bbq, flat work, turf, landscaping, and landscape lighting. His crew knows how to do anything you might need to turn your project into the yard of your dreams. Handel is easy to talk to, and will go out of his way to make sure you are happy, and everything is handled in the most efficient professional way possible. BEWARE!!!!! I too posted a previous good review pages long because Handel responded quickly, and did a very nice job with the exception of the side concrete that was layed with shadow spots. His dismissive behavior in correcting those spots that were due to poor pouring should have been my first clue to what was coming. Now less than 2 years later. My pool deck is cracking. I contacted Handel and submitted pictures because I wasn't sure what was happening. I got no response. I took down my prior excellent review and gave a reason why and still no response!! I have contacted numerous vendors who came to see his work and they ALL told me to contact him to fix it and that he should still warrant his work and patch it being due to efflorescence that could be due to the way work was previously done. So here I am again texting him with pics and requesting a response to get this patched. Heck! I even said for a small fee! Other vendors said he shouldn't charge me for it!! They also said that I should contact the Contractors Board if he still doesn't want to fix it. I just didn't want to bother with him anymore, but the last vendor was insistent that I do it because he felt I was being taken advantage of. So now after sending another pic and message, I am waiting to see if I get a response before going to the Contractors Board. The amount of money you are paying for work in your backyard, I would highly recommend you read reviews from vendors that have fixed mistakes after the fact. Not just positive reviews. Character and true customer service comes when there is a problem, and how that vendor handles it. Not when everything first looks great. Don't risk being ignored if something goes wrong. read more

He went above and beyond for us. He tiled the outside of our spa because that was what would make it stand out vs just the stucco that was the original plan. I am in awe of him. I had a new construction salt water pool with a spa, wireless remote and bubblers installed also a pit for all my equipment. I don't have a lot of space to work with. However I made the mistake of releasing the final payment too soon before he finished. The company left my pavers covered on plaster and didn't finish the blick wall around the pool equipment. Now he doesn't answer our calls or texts snd it's been months. 3 pools were built on my street after mine and how disappointing they couldn't come and finish up these details. Handel flat out lies, doesn't follow plans, hires incompetent employees, threatens and intimidates his own customers, and is well-known for delays that go on and on without any explanation. He avoids communication, doesn't answer texts or calls and demands advance payment even though he is months behind on his own contractual deadlines. Even worse, after he leaves (without cleaning up or even finishing his job) you will have to hire others and pay to fix his many mistakes. I'm a little disappointed in Handel's pool construction. Love the design and working with him however I've had a lot of problems with the electrical wiring system. I called Pentair and they sent someone out to figure out the New LED color lighting system. They told me that many of the wires were not wired correctly and were in the wrong locations etc. When Handles's tile guy installed the tile he had to be called back because there were many many areas of grout that did not set up leaving many gaps in the grout line. He had to lower the water level of the pool and regrout over. Now there are more grout, get in the pool and regrout areas they have not been fully filled in or sealed correctly. As of late water has gotten underneath several tiles and algae formed. Tiles have now fallen off. This should not happen with a pool that's only two years old. read more

If your looking to remodel your pool, look no further. Handel is absolutely the best contractor I've come across! I called Handel to make an appointment and get an estimate. He returned my call promptly, showed up on the date we scheduled, he was on time and came prepared with tile and pebble tech samples. He wasn't the least expensive and he wasn't the most expensive. We discussed my budget, how to get the most with what I could afford, and he even took me to the pool supply to take a look at more samples. He really wanted me to get have a pool I loved. His customer service is outstanding. Hired him that day. This is the best part! My pool was demo'd completely and finished in less than a week! I have several friends whose pools took several weeks to even a couple of months to be completed. Sunday drained the pool, Monday all tile and old cement Jack hammered out. Tuesday all the new tile done. Wednesday a new filter and light. Thursday cement and pebble Tec. Friday, acid wash and the pool is filling up. Saturday pool party! My old pool hadn't been remodeled or touched up in more than 25 years. My new pool is gorgeous and I absolutely love it! Handle took pictures of the work being done and text them to me throughout each day while I was at work. He is in constant communication with you, he adjusts and fixes anything you want because he wants you to love it, not just like it. Every day between 4 and 9 workers came, worked and left my yard clean. They are polite,very conscious of HOA sound rules and cleanliness. Hire this licensed contractor and no one else. He listened to our concerns, asked some questions, checked out our pool, gave us his honest opinion, and then showed us some options for when we are ready to resurface our pool. Very poor service and communication. Ground breaking was in July 21 and the project is still not finished. After repeated texts, calls, and emails I still do not have answers. Why the 1 star review: 1. Job started in June of 21', its Feb 1 and the job is still not completed. 2. Beer bottles and trash left all over my jobsite during concrete and gunite pour (I have pictures) 3. I, the homeowner, have had to pay for debris removal and job clean up (landscaping removal, leftover gunite and concrete, wood forms, etc) 4. After 60 days, the concrete decking is already cracking (I have pictures) 5. POOR, POOR, POOR communication. Rarely answers phone, 1 out of 10 texts replied to, various emails... 6. In contract it states "estimated project to be completed 8 - 10 weeks after ground breaking". Ground breaking took place in July of 21' (6 months ago). 7. Handel was paid on time and in full at the required times (my fault for not using payment as leverage sooner) 8. During pool prep, they dug up and destroyed part of our underground irrigation system. I mentioned this and have not received a reply, nor a fix. Again, I had to fix on my dime to prevent vegetation from dying. 9. This is the part that bothers me the most. Every single time to make progress on the project I've had to hunt down Handel and team. I've had to make threats, etc. I'm the customer! I would not recommend Handel and team and if you read the reviews you will see a pattern of behavior. I will be contacting the BBB, City of LaQuinta (where permit was issued), Contractors Board, and possibly taking legal action if I do not receive a refund for services not rendered or immediately reconciled. read more

We had our pool and deck completely redone in 2019 with Handel. He was great during the process, the job was done without any major delays, he was very hands on and we were satisfied with the final product for about 6 months. We posted a five star review and recommended him to our neighbors. My first problem with Handel came when he would not provide a paid invoice upon completion. I wanted that for my records and though I asked him at least half a dozen times, he never managed to get one to me. Word of advice, get the warranty in writing and the paid receipt before handing over that final check. About 6 months after completion an area of new cool decking started flaking off. Since we had referred Handel to our neighbor for a pool remodel, it just so happened that his crew was there doing the neighbor's pool when this flaking began. Since he was right there every day with the neighbor, he really had no choice but to come over and deal with it. It took another month or two, but Handel did finally get his decking crew out and they replaced the cool decking on that section. But apparently painting it was too much to ask, so after repeatedly calling and emailing with no further response, I ended up on my hands and knees repainting the new surface myself. The final insult is that everywhere that Handel's crew had cut into the existing concrete large cracks in the new cool decking surface appeared, which he told me was no problem, nothing could be done and it would not chip. So now two years have passed -- it is a problem, it looks terrible, and the cracks have chipped in some areas and become larger and even more unsightly in the past two years. Handel will hold your hand and promise you the world until he receives your final check. After that, you are on your own. read more
