Great spot for sushi in Salt Lake City. We came in for lunch and sat at the sushi bar and got one of the lunch specials. All the food was amazing. The service was great and the sushi bar chefs were awesome! I ordered some sushi as well but it was took good and forgot to take a picture! The seafood tasted fresh and not fishy. Overall the place is delicious and would definitely come back!

First time here. 100 times better than Takashi. Staff is welcoming and very knowledgeable. Quality is outstanding. Sake is incredible. Special thank you to Isabel and Montse. Will come back every day. Maybe twice a day.

Hando Bowl with wagyu - pretty greasy and the rice helps but most parts are well seasoned, not the meat

A fine sushi spot with lunch specials. There's only a few things I've tried that I'm not a big fan of: sunomono was too sweet and the rock shrimp wasn't my favorite. Kinda just fried lil shrimp with ok sauce. But now they have lunch specials that range from plenty of food, enough to share, to just a couple appetizer choices. It's either a hando bowl (plenty of food, great if you're starving or just wanna share something substantial), 2 appetizers, a 3 handroll special, or 7 pc nigiri. The chefs have always been fun to sit with at the bar and are clearly skilled. There's also tables to sit at for a cozy classy date night. A good place to try something new.

Chiriashi. ( excellent ) How pretty is that.

Very friendly greeting at the front door I loved the bar I appreciate being able to see what the chefs are doing Very friendly The sake was warm, not hot I wanted it hot and the next two sake's I received were piping hot I warmed my hands on the carafe from my cold walk better than hot chocolate on a cold day My chiriashi was artistic and inventive and quite fresh. I particularly liked the warm sushi rice, which had a dusting of crushed seaweed on it. I ordered fresh wasabi root which now I'm addicted to And for dessert, I had a double serving of Uni Which was very fresh What I particularly liked about this restaurant, which will bring me back is that all the things I had, were not Americanized! No syrups, no sweet drizzles no jalapeño, No crushed pickled veggies the top of the fish I can't stand Americanized sushi places where you can't even taste the fish because of all the syrups and sauces crap on top I loved being able to taste just the fish thank you very much for that! I promise I'll be back every time I get to town to everyone there! Thank you for the great service! Thank you for the great sushi! Incidentally... The door greeter was being trained, how to make sushi when she wasn't busy atv the door... behind the bar, yes... How awesome is that that they will train from within? Not cheap. Good sushi isn't cheap. Thank you for serving Quality

Skip the handrolls. I was thoroughly disappointed with the size, flavor, and freshness of these handrolls. Each handroll I had tasted fishy. 3 stars because the service was quite friendly and the rock shrimp + lychee martini was EXCELLENT! Ambiance was modern and great for date night. Handrolls are just not this places forte at all.

My server Ioana is so so sweet! I meet some amazing people along my Journeys and hers was probably the best customer service I've had in a very long time! Such a sweet soul who clearly cares about your experience as a customer and guest! I went with the handroll lunch which included 3 rolls of my choice (negi toro, scallop, and salmon + avocado). The accompanying auto was delicious with tofu and sushi mushrooms. The salad was generously portioned. The dressing was a tad too sweet for my taste but my sweet server brought me some ginger sauce which was perfect when I added it to the dressing and created my own sauce! Very cool experience! The hand rolls were deliciously fresh! I also added on our sunomono salad with tako on the side which is fantastic and enjoyed the yellowtail wonton tacos! Brendon also went out of his way behind the bar to make sure that I had an elevated experience with my bites! Really fabulous lunch! This was a delicious stop!!!

So good I had to come back for Happy Hour! Brenden was such a gem. Great talking to him about his extensive knowledge and experience with sushi. Food was on point - the madai hand roll and Ora king nigiri were the best! Yuzu cheesecake was light and refreshing. Absolutely amazing - so sad to be leaving SLC... until next time!

Tried this spot for the first time, great spot in Main Street in downtown Salt Lake City. Menu is small in my opinion but the quality of the sushi was top notch. We went a bit early as we had evening plans and it appeared there was only one server for a relatively full house. I'm a big believer in getting drinks out quick and that didn't happen hence the 4 stars.

Fresh, Stylish, and Tasty -- But Pricey for What You Get HandoSake Sushi has a clean, modern vibe and delivers on freshness and flavor. The food is beautifully prepared, and everything we tried was delicious and thoughtfully plated. The service was reasonable -- friendly and efficient, though not particularly standout. That said, I'm giving it 4 stars because of the very limited menu and small portion sizes -- especially when you factor in the extremely high bill. It left us wishing for just a bit more variety and value. Great spot if you're looking for high-quality sushi in a stylish setting, but be prepared to pay premium prices for fairly modest plates.

    Shrimp tacos - sooo good

The service is to be commended. Fantastic wait staff and food. Hand rolls are bit getting used to if You haven't them before. You e got to hold them carefully to avoid them falling apart but once you have the first one, it's easy. So many great options that you can't go wrong. ¡Buen provecho!

I was very pleased with my experience here. I ordered a salad and a variety of salmon sashimi and hand rolls (what they're known for). The fish was fresh and ingredients for the salad were fresh. My tummy was very happy. I sat at the bar and enjoyed the company of the sushi chefs. The restaurant staff were very attentive. Towards the back of the restaurant, there's a beautiful glass wall etched with koi fish (the restaurant's logo) and a water feature. This created a very nice ambiance.

Special roll. Cowboy something or other. Why you beef and spicy tuna roll.

At $29 with the steak, they're definitely on the pricier side, but the portion size helps justify the cost. The serving is massive--I could easily see two or even three people sharing it as a meal. By the time I finished, it honestly looked like I had barely made a dent in it. The steak was incredibly tender and packed with flavor, and every bite was loaded with toppings. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming. I stopped by during an off-peak time, so it wasn't very busy, which made for a relaxed experience. One thing that really stood out was their Guinness. As someone who appreciates a proper pour, I have to give them credit--they know exactly what they're doing. Too many places rush it, but here you can tell they take pride in serving it the right way. Their drink selection is also extensive. Whether you're a beer fan or looking to try a unique cocktail, there's no shortage of great options. I'd definitely come back, especially with a group to help tackle those nachos!

The food was good, we had the potato empanada and the wagyu skewers. Both were tasty and prepared well. There was live music that was really good and we enjoyed the people they had booked. They were ready for us when we arrived and sat us downstairs, which was really cool! The vibe and esthetic of the entire restaurant was pretty unique. The booth chairs were very soft, and a little uncomfortable compared to the table height as you sink into them. Our waitress was kind, but had a weird attitude. Someone ordered an Americano (from the menu) to which she said they didn't have espresso... she ended up bringing the Americano to him without any explanation. It was just a little odd. Someone ordered the deviled eggs as an appetizer, and they were good, but I wouldn't order them again. A lot of people ordered the burger, which was overcooked for almost every person and definitely didn't seem like wagyu beef. The steak sandwich I got (pictured) was good, but it came with lettuce that had really long stems. I don't particularly enjoy eating stems, so that's as annoying. The rest of my food was delicious. ESPECIALLY the garlic aioli. I could drink that stuff! The cost did seem fair for the quality of food, but a few adjustments could be made to the cook and such. We enjoyed our time and I will definitely go back! Hopefully for some drinks next time!

In full transparency it has been 2-3 years since my first and last visit to Water Witch. I noticed this in my drafts and thought I should complete my review. That said, I think I hyped this place up in my head too much before my visit because of the James Beard nod. So when it didn't quite hit the mark for me, I was disappointed. It's quite an intimate bar. By that I mean small space inside. The main bar has seating of course and there are a few seating areas directly behind the barstool area. There is a small walkway that separates the bar and the seating area. So the seating area is looking straight forward at the bartenders and the backs of people on barstools. I felt like the people behind me were staring into my soul lol, but that's a me problem ha. It's a modern design and beautifully decorated. I had two drinks. One from the menu and one that I told the bartender what I liked and disliked. He then made a drink based upon my taste. In my opinion it tasted similar to the one from the menu, which was disappointing because I was hoping for something different. There was one bartender that evening and one bar back, so even with the few people at the bar (I'd say 6-7 including me and a guest) and the 4 people seated behind us. It took some time to get his attention and order a drink. Which is part of the reason I only had two drinks. I would probably give this place another try since it's been some time since I've been there. As I always like to say. Stop in and judge for yourself.
