We stopped into The Handroll House to try something new and decided to split the 3-roll option between the two of us. It was a great first experience, and we'll definitely be back. The sushi quality was excellent. Everything tasted fresh, clean, and well made. Julian and Ryan took care of us, and both were extremely polite, professional, and welcoming. The decor is simple, but done really well. It fits the concept nicely and gives the place a clean, comfortable feel. My only small gripe is that the stools were not the most comfortable, but that definitely would not stop me from coming back for more hand rolls soon. One suggestion I'd love to see is a little more flexibility with the roll sets. It would be great if guests could choose any 3, 4, 5, or 6 rolls at a preset price, instead of each set coming with specific rolls. Finally got to try out this appt. It is super clean and modern inside, with only bar seats. I love the concept of specializing in handrolls, and their menu is simple and easy to pick from. I got the 5 roll set (spicy tuna, scallop, yellowtail, toro, shrimp) and the current yellowtail special. Everything was super fresh, and I love some of the textural elements they use in the handrolls to change it up. My favorite was the yuzu yellowtail special that had added crunch from the crispy onion and the citrus from the yuzu added a nice contrast. Jayson and the rest of the team were great hosts. I was excited to try Handroll House because I've been seeing it all over social media lately. I was lucky enough to find parking right down the street and when my girlfriend and I walked in we were seated immediately. It's a very trendy spot with bar seating only and dim lighting. The food was very good, but I just don't think it's worth it to me. We started with the Chili Crunch Cucumber Salad and I actually enjoyed it a lot, but the serving size seemed rather small for it to be $12.50. The same goes for all of the hand rolls. I got the 6 roll set, Baked Crab, and Yuzu Yellowtail rolls for my girlfriend and I. It sounds like a lot of food, but it really isn't. The rolls are on the smaller side; we finished them off in 3-4 bites each. That's not to say we left hungry, but the bill came out to over $100 and we didn't even get any drinks. The fish was all fresh and some of the rolls had some really nice textures to them. I actually enjoyed the food, but for the price I just don't see myself dining here regularly. read more

Second of all, I could not resist a good BOGO deal. Considering Handroll House is from the same team behind Butterfish (which I still look forward to trying), I knew I was in for a treat. All 3 rolls were incredibly delicious and satisfying! The rice is super seasoned and you can tell based on the color alone. I will say the rice is a bit stickier than other sushi spots and I'd probably go with light rice next time but nonetheless, very good! The salmon, yellowtail, and tuna were all super fresh. I like that the fish wasn't overly chopped. I still got chunks of fish making each bite more enjoyable and you just know what you're eating. I'm a sucker for good packaging and Handroll House nailed it! Classy black boxes, chopsticks, tiny soy sauce squeeze bottles, and of course ginger & wasabi. One suggestion would be to add dividers or try to include the soy sauce, ginger and wasabi inside the box already rather than on the side. I think it'll add to the aesthetic and convenience. If it wasn't for the BOGO deal, I probably wouldn't opt for ordering via UberEats considering the price markup compared to their website. Great spot in Jersey if you're craving handrolls or sushi takeout! Dined here on a Saturday night and though it was pouring out, it was still pretty packed! The design of the bar is cute with the illuminated lights and the their logo plates. The staff were super friendly and accommodating as I had ordered a couple rolls to go after me and my friend finished our handrolls. Visited on the 2nd day of opening! Met Jojo who welcomed us into the restaurant right at opening. He introduced us to the team and chefs and walked us through the menu. Danielle and Ryan took care of us during our lunch experience and were both fantastic, checking in on us after each handroll. We both ordered the 6 piece Handroll set for $42 which included the following: salmon, spicy tuna, spicy scallop, toro, lobster, and crab. They came out one at a time - the rice was perfectly seasoned and warm and the filling was fresh and flavorful. My favorite bites were the spicy tuna and spicy scallop. We also ordered a chili salmon mango Handroll with fresh sliced mango - absolutely delicious. We also took out a cooked eel and cream cheese roll which the chef prepared with nori and we took home to my mom. We spent about $120 for the two sets and two extra rolls. Everything was delicious. A very small and intimate dining experience. I loved the 6 course handroll tasting. this really made me a handroll lover. usually, i would skip them and go straight for sushi. TBH I already want to come back here and just to try some fresh japanese fish served so you can really appreciate the flavor and texture of the fish. every course was thought out and well prepared. The owner, who I had the pleasure of meeting for the first time, is such a positive light in a dark world. and only made my experience that much better. So far, Handroll House has been one of my favorite meals of 2026 and I promise you that is not an exaggeration! My fiancé and I were feeling indecisive about dinner one Saturday night. In a world where last minute Saturday reservations are few and far between, I saw Handroll House had availability so we decided to give it a try on a whim. The entire restaurant is ~30 seats around a counter. Elevated vibes in a relaxed atmosphere. You place your order by selecting the items you want on a sheet of paper. This allows you to pace out your meal to your liking. I was so happy I made the reservation because there were several walk-ins waiting for seats. Our waiter, Jason, was excellent. He was very personable and gave us great recommendations throughout our meal. He really made us feel welcomed and made us want to come back to try the rest of the menu! The food itself was amazing. Extremely fresh and portions in my opinion were very generous. They did not skimp on the fish in the handrolls. I loved how the fish was not minced very finely but kept in larger chunks. It really elevated the flavor. We tried the 5 handroll set and ordered several other items to sample. The chili crunch cucumber salad is a must along with the specialty handrolls, especially the baked cod and chili-mango salmon. The spicy tuna is also a must - they add the house made chili crunch to this handroll which was a total game chnager. The real standout for us believe it or not was the chicken sandwich! It was piping hot and the chicken itself was so juicy and flavorful. IF you aren't a big sushi lover, this is the way to go. This was a really fun experience unlike anything else in the area. Incredible experience! The one and only Handroll Bar in New Jersey. The nori was exceptionally crispy, the rice was perfectly cooked and the fish was so fresh and well seasoned. I sat at the bar (no table bar seats only) and loved watching the chefs hand each roll over the second it was finished. The lobster, spicy tuna, crispy eels and toro were standouts unbelievably fresh. Efficient service and a great vibe for a quick but high-end meal. Went to Handroll House for 1st time on 5/7. Fish was very fresh and service was good. Atmosphere was very interesting with only blue glass bar for seating with uncomfortable metal stool. However, was disappointed when it came to what rolls I could get for special price (3 rolls $22). The selection included a spicy tuna roll, which I can't eat. In fact, all of the special grouping of roll offers include a spicy roll. I asked the waitress if I could replace the spicy roll with a plain tuna roll. She did check but told me no because they didn't have plain tuna available. Seems like all of the fish is diced up in advance and seasoned as needed for specific rolls. They didn't offer me an alternative to the spicy roll, which was annoying but since I wanted to try the place out, I ended up ordering 3 rolls ala carte, which cost me $10 more. In fact, any ala carte order of 3 rolls would have cost me more than $22. I did enjoy the rolls because the fish was very fresh as noted previously. But it drives me crazy when restaurants includes a spicy item in a selection and doesn't allow those of us who are sensitive to replace it. read more

If you want a kazu-nori experience in New Jersey, not a bad place to check out. The fish was fresh and very similar to kazu-nori. What fell short was the butter bird sandwich that costs 18.50, the chicken was dry and batter was soggy and it was not worth spending that much money on especially with the side of potato chips. They also need more variety in their side menu like adding miso soup or other apps to complement their hand rolls. read more
