The hibachi food was absolutely delicious. We ordered shrimp and chicken hibachi which reasonably priced and cooked well. The servers were attentive and polite. We definitely had a wonderful experience and the environment was perfect for our night out. We will definitely be back and look forward to trying the sushi!

Having a craving for hibachi, Ooka seemed to be one of the promising places to try in the area. We went for a weekday lunch. Upon entering it looked so dark and gloomy. Chairs appeared old and uncomfortable. Wasn't a good first impression at all. I was happy to see the menu had lots of good combinations. I got the filet Mignon and lobster tail combo. The meal started with a very basic watery soup. Salad was actually good. Our chef joined few minutes later. He was totally in automated mode, going through is routine. No real expression or interaction with the guests, except where the routine required him to throw water or vegetables at the guests. I liked the rice and noodles. Lobster tail was decent. But filet Mignon was disappointing. We ordered a spider roll too. It was very basic, didn't really excite me. Overall it was an underwhelming hibachi experience.

Service is 5 stars but unfortunately food if only 2 stars for me. Staff is friendly. Chef is really good. Doing all kinds of entertainment. Waitress comes around couple times to ask if we need refill for drinks. But the actual food is dry, overcook and VERY SALTY. It looks like they only season the food with tons of soy sauce. It's good as an experience but I don't think I'll come back.

We wanted to do Hibachi so we decided on Ooka. Food was excellent. Not much to explain for Hibachi. I had the filet and shrimp. The filet was tender, juicy and cook perfectly. Everyone else had the chicken. All dinners were great. Service was great also except for 1 thing.... The only reason I'm not giving a 5 star is .. they rushed all the food to get you out. We weren't even offered dessert. They just handed us our check. They normally give you the soup, then a salad a few minutes after. They brought the soup and while we were still eating the soup, was dropping the salads at the table. I get that it was a Saturday night and they were very busy and still had people waiting to sit, but they could have been more diplomatic about rushing people to eat. We were at the table for literally 45 minutes. From sit down till basically.. your done .. get out. I would still go back... but not on a weekend.

I took a friend here for their birthday. When I arrived I parked in their private lot. I walked in and there was a bit of a wait for hibachi. They ended up sitting us faster than I thought they would. Hank was our server and he was nice. I started with a sangria that I got from the bar. It wasn't too bad. For my hibachi meal, I got salmon and shrimp. My friend got steak and chicken. The food was pretty good and the cook gave a good show. The bill wasn't too bad and I would return to this establishment.

I was very disappointed. I ordered over the phone for a pick up. I made sure that I ordered within a specific time because previously I called at 2:30 and was told the kitchen was closed because the workers had lunch at 3. The crazy thing is that the lunch hours are from 11 to 3!! Anyway, I had to wait when I got there. I only live about 5 or so minutes away but when I got home, some of my food was cold. I ordered shrimp and vegetable tempura and the shrimp and scallop lunch hibachi meal which came with soup, salad, vegetables, rice and noodles. Instead of noodles, I asked for extra rice which it looked like I had a reg portion size. As you can see in the picture, there were only 3 of each of the shrimp and scallops, which were tiny. I called to advise that my hibachi plate was not hot, not even warm. The girl tells me that that was impossible. Lol I told her it was. She kept going back and forth with me. I told her that I wasn't going to argue and I would just be posting a review. And for $20, it made the experience even worse. The tempura was the best part of my meal and that was an add on. Oh, and if you order any type of seafood, let them know not to overcook it.

Finally got to check this place out the other day with another couple and my husband. We only had…read moreto wait 10 mins for table without a reservation which was nice. The service I found to be on the slower side especially when it came waiting for water and drinks. The ambiance is absolutely beautiful and I love their sake menu- it has so many choices!!! The food menu has a lot to offer. I do however feel like they do whatever they can to potentially upcharge the guest. For example, I honestly do not know any hibachi place that does not offer soup or give you a choice of noodles or fried rice- this place offers steamed white rice for the meal knowing almost everyone is going to pay for upgrade. All of us chose to upgrade, I wound up getting the vegetable fried rice, when my husband and two other friends got the chicken fried rice. There was another family next to us that also upgraded to chicken fried rice (about 3 of them). This place used ONE small chicken breast chopped it up into little pieces for 6 people which I thought was absolutely insane. Even with all this going on- I would be a liar if I said the food wasn't outstanding because it absolutely was- it was easily one of the best hibachi meals I have had in a long time- the quality of the steak was nothing but perfection- the rice and shrimp were mouthwatering good- and the salad was fantastic. I wish my scallops had a little more flavor but I was happy with my combo meal overall. We even ordered the Spicy Tuna Crispy rice app and it was one of the best I have ever had. My meal was also supposed to come with ice cream and they never asked me if I wanted it or brought anything out to me so that was disappointing. The show was ok- typical fried rice heart beating with onion volcano. No shrimp getting tossed into the air to catch or sake squirting though. In my opinion- food outstanding 5 star worthy, but it also needs a lot of work done before this place gets a higher rating.

I'll start by saying the restaurant itself is beautiful. The ambiance is inviting, the restrooms…read moreare clean, and the staff are friendly at first impression, but BEWARE... vultures with a smile. However, my experience left me with some concerns--particularly around pricing and communication. We were a party of one adult and one child, and an automatic 18% gratuity was applied. This caught me off guard, as I typically see that for larger parties. I didn't initially notice it and ended up tipping on top of it, which added to the overall frustration. The bigger issue came with the meal itself. My mini ordered hibachi with scallops from the children's menu, but I was later charged $60 for the dish. When I asked for clarification, I was informed that scallops are not included on the children's menu and that the charge reflected an adult entrée. Unfortunately, this was not communicated at the time of ordering, which would have been helpful in making an informed decision. Olivia also charged me for a "fountain drink" I didn't order. I only ordered a sparkling water and pineapple juice for my child. There were also a few smaller service inconsistencies--for example, I requested sparkling water but was initially served still water before it was corrected. While the staff remained polite, I would have appreciated more transparency and attentiveness throughout the experience. Overall, while the restaurant is aesthetically pleasing, I recommend asking detailed questions about menu items and pricing before ordering to avoid any surprises. For me, the experience did not align with the value received. Olivia pumped me for sure but NEVER AGAIN! I CAUTION ANYONE who wants to patronize this establishment. Extremely high prices for less than mediocre hibachi!

***2 1/2 stars***…read more I've driven past this place on 23 a gazillion times, and...there's a reason it's never occurred to me before now to stop in. It honestly looks pretty shady/decrepit (though looks CAN be deceiving) and has an equally suspect hotel next to it that could easily find itself the centerpiece of a true crime doc. But it WAS open on Jan 1, we needed a lunch spot after the First of the Year hike, and one chum in particular had a hibachi hankering. So off we went. I'm trying to be as diplomatic as I can, but it's honestly in massive need of upgrades throughout the establishment. Beyond the outdated decor (the bar was ROUGH looking), it smelled like cleaning products in most areas, and that was pretty obviously because they decided to do their cleaning during normal business hours. There were literal buckets and bottles of bleach on the floor. When my chum and I went to use the restroom shortly after arriving, we couldn't immediately go in - the bathroom was temporarily shuttered for cleaning, despite the fact that the restaurant had opened within the hour. That flat-out shouldn't happen. I don't know if the staffer in charge was late but this is basic upkeep that should be done before or after customers are on the premises. That's all to say the vibes aren't great, and some of that is easily fixable. I can't say we really built up an appetite navigating a bike path for an hour in the snow and ice, but we did get two apps to split - the chicken katsu at my request, and rock shrimp. The rock shrimp were very good; decent portion/large shrimp, but the katsu was a miss. This is the second time I've been burned by this particular dish, I think because I keep deciding it's going to be chicken katsu curry but without the curry it's a very, very dry, flavorless item. Both times this has happened, the chicken katsu was accompanied by a watery tonkatsu sauce that was overly sweet and not great. But again, this isn't the first time this has happened so this may not be an issue specific to Izumi - maybe this is just a crappy app? Anyway. If you're katsu curious, I would recommend only ordering it in the context of the curry. Despite initially eyeing up the chicken katsu option on the lunch menu (which I was told wasn't applicable for a holiday), I succumbed to peer pressure and joined the hibachi bandwagon, opting for the chicken. A few chums got steak, and I think at least one got shrimp. Honestly, the chicken is a miss and I'd avoid it if you can. It's super dry (at least they're consistent in that regard with the poultry), and the teriyaki they're using for it is super salty. Just not a good dish. I tried the steak, which was significantly better, as was the shrimp, which was my favorite. Very tasty. The star of the hibachi meal though was the fried rice and the noodles. I initially asked for white rice, thinking there'd be a ton of shizzle in the fried rice (like onions, peppers, etc.) but it was literally just rice and egg from what I could tell. The noodles were delicious and widely acclaimed in our party. So ultimately uneven but the hibachi had some highlights. I'd say the service was pretty decent. A lot of the hibachi experience comes with a bit of showmanship from the chef, by definition. I haven't been to a ton of hibachi places but the fellow we had was pleasant and...skilled at hurling zucchini into people's mouths? I guess that's an endorsement? We had tons of food and I don't recall any complaints about the meat prep or anything involving the actual cooking. I feel like I've seen "flashier" performances but it's certainly not something I care a ton about - I'm in it for the food and can watch an exciting portrayal on the Criterion Channel from the comfort of my home. Honestly, this would have been a neutral or slightly positive experience if the fumes from the cleaning products nearby weren't a constant presence; it was like eating a meal in the hall of a hospital wing. I think you can do quite a bit better than this place, for your tastebuds and sinuses.
