    Path of promise

Took a walk out at McKinney Falls and came into town for a sammy. Handsome Dan's was the closest listing, so we made our way over. The atmosphere has so much promise... if there had not been a DJ blasting the entire space from the adjacent coffee shop. I guess I wasn't in the mood to yell to converse over the skeet skeet godd*mn motherf**kers for lunch. We got the Grilled Cheese, the Club, the Roast Beef, and the Caesar Sandwich. All were delish, but we just ate, as we couldn't talk above the volume of the adjacent DJ. Dan's Food, 5 stars. Atmosphere, albeit circumstantial, one star. We won't likely return.

Ooh my goodness just found this hidden gem. Meeting up with family and friends. The sandwich was delicious. The beer was affordable and the staff were friendly. We sat outside under some beautiful trees. Great beer selection.

Came here before a UT basketball game and it was a good experience overall. The sandwiches were hot and it had a solid atmosphere in a up and coming east Austin neighborhood. The servers did have a bit of an attitude and seemed pretty annoyed/ short with us for no good reason, but we just chalk it up to modern Austin establishments. Everyone loved their sandwiches and the beers were good as well, with solid mid day deals.

Tbh it's such a good little spot that hits the spot! every once in a while i get the urge eat something chili cheesed (who doesn't? amiright? ) and this is the place! The frito pie "snack" was just what the dr ordered! They also offer half sandwiches, which is great when you want to try a few things bc a full sandwich is HUGE. a very cute and casual drop in counter eats. Service was not as quick as you'd think, considering it wasn't busy but honestly it was fine bc once you taste the food, it's all forgiven. t's located in springdale station which came be hard to navigate as there's not really signs telling where which businesses are- If you're looking at it from the street, it's in the back right corner. cheers!

There's something instantly endearing about a place called Handsome Dan's--the kind of name that sounds like it belongs to a local legend or a friend from the docks who's always got a story to tell. The restaurant itself fits the name perfectly: a cozy little spot that feels like part bait shop, part lunch counter, and all heart. Step inside and you'll find a long counter where you can watch the crew craft sandwiches. The vibe is pure small-town nostalgia--simple, unfussy, and just the right kind of worn-in. I ordered the tuna melt with a side of potato salad. The sandwich came panini-style, with crisp lettuce, fresh tomato, and just a hint of cayenne that gave the tuna a gentle kick. The potato salad was classic mustard-style--creamy, cool, and topped with a dusting of paprika for good measure. Everything arrived in a paper-lined basket, exactly how a sandwich like this should be served. There are a few tables inside and some outdoor seating if you'd rather enjoy the warm and humid Austin breeze. Finding the place can be a bit of an adventure--it's tucked in the back of a warehouse complex--but once you're there, you'll know you've stumbled onto something special. Handsome Dan's isn't fancy, but it's the kind of place that sticks with you--like a good nickname and a better sandwich.

This is a diner like atmosphere with great outdoor and bar seating. Well maintained and very clean. They have variety of drink options and a lot of beers on tap. The staff are friendly! Most importantly the food is absolutely delicious. Sandwiches are made to order and you can tell are made with fresh ingredients. Will definitely be back!

Handsome Dan's has a laid-back vibe of a classic bait shop in an old warehouse. They were partnering with Eastside Beer Runners to celebrate their 9th birthday and were offering drink specials and 25% off all food. I wasn't planning on buying food, but the menu here looked appealing with many sandwiches and beer to choose from. You place your order at the counter and they give you a buzzer to notify you when your food is ready. There is indoor and outdoor seating available. We ended up sitting at a table outside. I ordered the Classic Italian sandwich that comes with Cenoa salami, mortadella, spicy capicola, aged provolone, lettuce, tomato, red onions, mayo and homemade italian dressing on ciabatta bread. It was served with the bread warm in a basket with your choice of potato chips or potato salad as a side. I went with the potato salad that was very tasty with a bite from the paprika on top. The sandwich was a large portion size and I was only able to finish half and took the other half to-go. Overall an enjoyable experience with good food and excited to try other items on their menu. Appreciate that they support the local running community by offering discounts on their food.

Visited here for the first time and really enjoyed the sandwiches. I tried the Tuna Melt as well as the Caprese with capicola and they were both delicious. The hostess was nice and it didn't take long for our food to be completed. They have an indoor and outdoor space which we liked and it wasn't too crowded so we were able to find a seat and have good conversation. The pricing felt pretty fair as well. I really enjoyed the tuna sandwich the most and would definitely be back to have that again. I'm not sure if they have cider but I know they had some IPAs. Hopefully they have cider because I feel like that would pair well with the sandwiches.

Who wouldn't want to try Handsome Dan's? The name is so intriguing! Apparently, everyone wanted to try it. I was at a 9th birthday party event for a run club, and Handsome Dan's was offering 20% off of any order. The line was incredibly long, so we waited until a raffle was over and swooped in. There were sandwiches and 3 snack items. One was a Frito Pie, but they were sold out. I ordered an all beef hot dog, without the bun. Not very exotic, but it was just the protein I wanted. It was ready pretty quickly. They offered onions and condiments, along with a bag of Miss Vicky potato chips in the desired flavor. I chose Sea Salt. It was a good light dinner after my run. I enjoyed it.

This sandwich SLAPS! WOW! It's so hard to find a great sandwich in Austin and this one takes the cake. The ratio was perfect and the Dijon mustard just tied the whole thing together beautifully. My friends are obsessed with the potato salad here. They say it's kind of like egg salad. I enjoyed it. That being said potato salad isn't really my thing, but if I had to eat it, I'd pick this one over most. For a Friday afternoon, it was decently full inside. We barely had to wait for our food and the interior has such a great theme. Vintage casual bar maybe? They have deer heads on the wall and promote themselves as a "Bait Shop". Gotta come back and enjoy a beer on their patio! Oh! Great non-alc selection.

Stopped by this past weekend and ordered the Italian sandwich -- for sure hit the spot. Flavorful, fresh, and came out crazy fast (bonus points for that). It comes with chips by default, but I upgraded to the potato salad and had zero regrets -- legit one of the better ones I've had in a while. Also lucked out and got in right before happy hour ended, so I snagged a beer at the HH price. Great sandwich, solid beer, and quick service? Big fan. Definitely coming back.

Loved this spot, little east austin gem. Nice shaded outdoor seating with fan misters on a hot summer day. 6 of us all tried different sandwiches and they were all a 10/10. Fast friendly service. Dog friendly. Connected to a cool bar next door. Inside is such a cool fun 70s vibe. Will definitely be back!

Service was quick light weighted conversation about the sandwiches. Some suggestions were given. Ambience is really nice. We went early in the morning, so it was really quiet and barely getting the people in which is great when you have a beautiful environment all to yourself the food was delicious. I love a Panini sandwiches and this is where you should get them. Get all your sandwiches here for any Panini get them here. They were so good not only that they have hotdog if you ever want any, but I definitely would stick to the sandwiches just because they put attention to those sandwiches. Also potato salad reminds me of a potato salad. We all know which I don't mind that's perfect. That's Home right there.

In the warmer weather which is plentiful in Texas sometimes I shift my focus towards Mexican Lagers and when we were visiting here that sounded amazing. So I went with the Primos Lager. It was an excellent Mexican Lager and totally what I wanted in the flavor profile. Occasionally other Mexican Lagers can be a letdown but not in this case at all... nope... not one bit. In the flavor profile you will taste a grainy flavor, maltiness (but it's not heavy handed. It's very well balanced), citrus and lime are present as well. The Primos is so easy to drink that you could easily have more than one in one sitting... but I behaved and just had the one. Great brewery with fairly large outdoor and indoor seating however it can fill up real fast on Fridays and weekends.

I felt the vibe instantly, like as soon as I put one foot in the door. Magical, sophisticated, worldly, wonderful and more were the feelings that spontaneously hit me. The dark and elegant decor, lighting, design, & layout made me feel as though I were in a high-end Tokyo cocktail lounge. The front room as I mentioned is an intimate bar and lounge area with artwork adorning the walls. It's a modern, minimalist, and sleek space. The artwork is ever-changing (every couple of months or so) and the cocktail menu changes right long with it. Note: artwork is available for purchase. What an absolutely glorious way of combining different mediums (liquid art vs physical art). The craft cocktails & mocktails are the epitome of works of art. I've had great cocktails and mocktails elsewhere but honestly I'd be hard pressed to find anything on this level. You're taken into an entirely different realm just watching the genius of mixologists. It's mesmerizing watching them hone their craft. In the back of the lounge is an enclave of eclectic art and other pieces that then leads you to Konbini, the sushi bar. It's an industrial, warehouse vibe with a long counter that screams hip, Tokyo inspired, late-night eatery. Service is impeccable and welcoming at this cosmopolitan venue. I was pretty bothered by my experience here. Even aside from their mid drinks, it felt like we were constantly chasing down servers and they were only attentive when they needed something from us. We went to the photobooth to take pictures before we sat down, but the machine ate my money and broke down. I let a server know, and he came back and said he would comp $20 off of our meal, which I was happy about. I honestly only wanted them to refund me my $10 for the photobooth strip. However, they came back a few minutes later and gave us a photo card and told us to use it to pay for the photobooth and it could be used an unlimited amount of times. I was also happy with this solution, but what happened afterwards left a bad taste in my friends' and my mouth. We hadn't gotten menus or been asked what we wanted to order yet. We were just waiting around for drink menus and food menus, so we didn't want to get up and go take photos when they might come back to take our orders. The manager (?) came back to me a few minutes later and asked if we had taken photos yet, and I let him know that we were waiting to be given menus. He said someone else would give us menus, and another server gave us only a drink menu. A few minutes later, we are still waiting for food menus. The same manager came back and asked us to not lose the photo card. At this point, we were frustrated. Why come back constantly to ask for a photo card when we haven't even been given our food or our menus yet? When we finally got our food, a different server asked if we had given back the photo card yet. They were so pressed about getting this photo card back and not actually getting our orders, and we also thought it was a bit distasteful to offer a solution (the $20 off the meal) but then go back on it with the photo card. It was presented as "unlimited" swipes but we were rushed to give the card back, and realistically, we only had enough time to take one set of photos. The drinks themselves were truly just okay. I don't think any of us were particularly impressed with our drinks, but the interior of Papercut is really nice and intimate.
