Joel is the nicest guy and he was extremely aware and considerate of our pets, our pond, and the wildlife in our yard. Uses a chemical that goes inert after it dries so safe for all our creatures. He is about management rather than scorched earth eradication which I really appreciate. He also seemed to have a better grasp of what was going on with our termite situation than our last people, pointing out an active area that had probably been infested for five years but was supposedly treated a couple years ago. He also cleaned off the cobwebs as he inspected, did it again after the treatment to be sure he got them all. His fees were exceptionally reasonable. I would recommend him to anyone. read more

I originally picked this company because the chemicals they use have a much lower impact on the environment (nothing is perfect they ARE chemicals after all). Not only did Joel do a great job, but he was one of the nicest people I've ever met. We have pets, and he took the time to explain everything he'd be doing, the actual risk associated with the materials he'd be using, and he thoroughly inspected our home prior to getting started. We had a cricket issue, and I'm happy to say that it has been addressed after Joel/Handytech's visit. Even better is that Handytech actually comes back out after 30-days to re-spray so that any eggs that have intubated over that time get addressed as well. Handytech offers a subscription service which we'll be signing up for. We previously had another vendor come out and spray once per year, and for just slightly more Handytech will visit 3 times per year and make sure that the crickets, excess ants, and black widows are taken care of while also preventing termites from establishing a foothold. The hardest part of being a homeowner is finding vendors you can trust to do a good job and treat your home as well as you treat it. I called Handytech on Monday to arrange an isnpection of an area in my garage that I thought had termites. There were tiny droppings on the slab around the side of my garage door that I waw pretty sure were dry wood termites. The secretarty was able to set up an inspection two days later on Wednesday. Joel Hurtado called me Wednesday aroond 11am and said he was running a birt early and asked if he could come in 25 minutes, so that was great. Joel checked the droppings and said that they were cricket feces not termites. Yay! He then proceeded to kindly educate me on how to tell the difference. Before he left he said he had a non-toxic spray in his truck that he would shoot in the crack between the stud and the door frame that would help. 30 seconds after he started spraying, hundreds of crickets of all sizes and a few spiders started crawiling out of the crack and dropping to the floor! That confirmed his diagnosis. Other pest companies might have suggested tenting the house or some other plan to get rid of the 'termites', but Joel was honest and took the time to educate me. Very trustworthy and honest! I've been seeing what looked like termite droppings around my house and contacted a few different companies to get a quote for inspection/treatment. Joel was by far the best! He asked for pictures and then immediately called me back to tell me that I didn't have termite droppings and that they were cricket droppings instead. He told me to try to smash the droppings and if they broke up into powder, they were cricket droppings, and it was true! What a relief!! It's been two weeks since my house was serviced as I wanted to make sure the job was done. The job was done and the process was really satsifying and made me feel secure from the start. I discovered what seemed to be termites in my bathroom which we satisfactorily serviced with another company more than six years ago with additional attendant work, some of which was problematic. I went with Yelp's bid where you write one company and they offer to send the request to several. From the very beginning, Handytech was more concerned with making sure the communication was good. When I hadn't heard from someone, I wrote and someone got right back to me. I had four companies scheduled to come look at the house. The first company (a name I'd heard), came and did a check of the bathroom and offered me a rather high price for the spot treatment, then left. Second was Lorenzo for Handytech who looked at the kitchen and asked to look at the property. An hour later he walked me through the house and yard with a scale drawing of the house and showed me other trouble spots and gave me a rough estimate with a formal bid coming just behind from Handytech. The price seemed fair. The next company came, were equally vigilant about walking the yard and offered both a substantially higher bid with a requirement that certain beams be replaced. I called Lorenzo and asked if they needed to be replaced and he said they didn't, but it could be done for more money. I cancelled the fourth bid and booked Handytech. The service person (Eddie, not Lorenzo) was terrific, was here most of the day, walked me through showing me other issues of concern, not necessarily pest related, suggested I call my roofer for a rafter being pressed my a tree limb (Marty Masterman, my terrific roofer came, charged me nothing, told me to have the gardner make specific trims) and we were done. They followed through, did more than I expected, walked me through and made recommendations. And it was the lowest price bid; the criterion wasn't the bid, the criterion was the integrity. Do two things if you have a pest problem: 1) Send a bid through Yelp; 2) let Yelp send to competitive bids. You will end up with Handytech and you will feel very happy that you did. read more

They did some rodent exclusion work to keep out rats from entering my attic. Their suggestions are most relevant and useful.
