I don't usually write reviews, but people need a heads-up before wasting time here. I booked an online appointment for Friday 1/9/2026 at 3pm for my 2017 Chevy Volt because it threw "Service High Voltage Charging System" and a check engine light. When I got there, the service manager German Franco said that was too late in the day (despite the appointment) and told me Volt diagnostics take hours, pulled codes, and told me to come back Monday. I drop the car off Monday 1/12 around 8:40am. I call at 12:15pm just to get a status update and they don't get back to me until about 1:20pm. Then I get the call: they say they found a coolant leak and recommend replacing a hose in the surge tank / aux battery pump area. The quote was about $966 total, and that included the $235 diagnostic (1 hour labor). What bothered me wasn't just the price. It was how everything got handled after I questioned it. When I pushed for a real breakdown (what part number, what exactly am I paying for, why is this almost $1,000 for a hose-related repair), I didn't get a straight answer or a proper written itemized estimate I could take with me. I also signed their work order but didn't get a copy of what I signed. At pickup (around 2pm Monday), I was visibly upset and the service manager offered to waive the $235 diagnostic as "customer satisfaction," and it was discussed in connection with me not leaving a negative review. I didn't take that. I actually insisted on paying the $235 because I wanted a clean paper trail and documentation for what they did. On Thursday 1/15, I called again asking for the missing info by email (copy of the signed RO/work order + itemized estimate/OEM part number). I was told they "don't do that," that I have to come in person, and the call ended with him saying he was "done talking to me." I took it to an independent mechanic and the issue was handled for about $277 total including their own diagnostic. If you're okay with "come in person" for basic paperwork and a quote you can't verify in writing, fine. If you want transparency, I'd avoid this place. read more

German and his team in the Service Shop were amazing. On Dec 13, 2024 (Friday the 13th.) we were driving from our home in Reno NV to S.F. CA to finish up with the probate/estate of my mother in laws residence. This process has already been very wearing on me and my wife. As we approached Davis, CA, my transmission went out in my 2018 Chevrolet Suburban. No clue where we were or what was around. I pulled off the next exit, coasting. I see a sign Hanlees Chevrolet. We coast in and stop. Inside we met German and explained the problem. Told him was driving over pass, transmission warning light came on, lost on power and here we are, Can you help. It was obvious they were busy on this day and first mentioned about looking at it on Monday. My wife broke down emotionally. German sensed something was off and I explained to him our journey as now we felt stuck. I explained I bought the vehicle used just 4 months ago and have an extended warranty. He quickly went into professional mode and provided me step by step instructions of what to do next, to start a claim. Luckily he had prior experience with this warranty company, Equi-pro. A claim was opened and paperwork was started, again we were still stranded, 200 miles away from home. He assisted us to closest vehicle rental place Enterprise. For the next 34 days, German and I kept contact primarily due to issues with the warranty company, not providing the services as expected and not following through, being deceptive on the actions. Long Story short (sorry its already long) on Jan 17 after getting no where with the warranty company and Germans team has already completed the work on my vehicle, we headed down there. We had to meet and discuss options for payment and we handled it respectfully, still as of today Jan. 27, the warranty company has yet to pay the amount they reported they will cover. I have two suggestions to all: #1 if you have Equi-Pro Warranty company, Change companies immediately prior to any claims. #2 If you are in the area of Davis, CA ONLY use Hanlees as because of Germans professionalism, respect and above Service Excellence, he would be a reason we would return and if we lived there, this would be the only shop we would use. Do not bring your vehicle here unless you want to pay double the cost of service from another dealership and receive horrible service. I brought my vehicle in to repair a broken regulator on my rear window. I left my vehicle. The work order did not specify a cost for giving an estimate. I received a call from German, the service manager and he told my the cost to fix was $716 plus tax. He also listed other repairs he felt the vehicle needed and told me that me brake fluid was blue. This was extremely odd for me. I get my vehicle serviced frequently and blue brake fluid has never been reported. I told him not to touch the vehicle and that I would be picking the vehicle up immediately. The cost to fix the window else where was $300 and I did not trust them with my vehicle. I just wanted a quote to fix the window. When he picked up the vehicle, there was a labor cost of $225. $225 to get a quote to fix my window. They did not perform any labor. I looked at my work order and there was no labor or estimate cost to provide a quote. I got me vehicle fix at another dealership and the blue brake fluid could not be explained, I had the brake fluid flushed and replaced at a reputable repair shop. I will not be bringing my vehicle here anymore. Also, the dealership no longer provides Lyft rides to their customers because German said employees were taking advantage of the service. Showed up at this dealership right as they were closing do to hearing metal on metal on my sons brakes. The service manager German asked his employee to stay after hours to check the brakes making sure it wasn't an immediate safety issue. German was doing everything possible to take care of us and it was after hours. Both German and his employee who's name has escaped me (apologies) were very kind, professional and accommodating. I took my car in for service on Friday August 5th. Apparently my turbocharger had begun to fail. I had already checked the official Chevrolet website for the correct part before contacting the dealership which is also listed on the Chevrolet website. Once I had the car checked out and they confirmed the code, P0299, I was told that the original part issued with the car wasn't available and that I would have to get a different part. When I got home I checked the part number they listed to confirm compatibility and was referred back to the original part I had already priced. I confirmed the original part was correct and price for it on three different Chevrolet websites. When I cross referenced the new revision part on the same website and they indicated the new part was not a match. I immediately contacted the service manager with my concerns. It became quite after clear a few emails back and forth clear that the intention was to sell me a part at several hundred dollars more than the price of the original part and that the original part was still available and recommended despite their representations. The parts office indicated if I could locate the original part that they could install it. So I got the original part only to be advised that if I insisted on installing the part I had located that if anything happened with regards to the repair work they would did, there would be no warranty... hint, hint.. and I would be charged a 20 percent restocking fee for the part they ordered on top of the repair.. it was suggested that I agree to pay for the service instead of questioning them on their actions. With a little further research I also found that part they were trying to push on me that cost several hundred dollars more is actually listed for sale by an authorized dealer for about ten dollars less that the price of the original part. They were trying to charge me over two thousand dollars for a one thousand and three hundred dollars part. When I caught them they started getting really nasty. I fear they will now sabotage my car. There's another post on here from April 2022 with similar concerns, I wish I'd came here first and read the reviews. You should avoid these people if at all possible. read more

The service Department Manager is dishonest and unprofessional. They had my truck for about TWO MONTHS for what started out as an engine light related to the turbo. New seals, turned into a new turbo which wasn't new at all but reconditioned. I got a bill for $6000. Well, the reason it took so long I was told, the mechanic working on it is new and slow, but you want it done right, right? After numerous promise dates came and went, I finally got it back. A few days later a low coolant message came on. I add a gallon of coolant, but the message is still on. Mgr. tells me it's probably just a sensor. I should just ignore it he says because it's expensive to change out. He argues that it's not related to repair. He clearly doesn't want to deal with it and quite frankly I don't want to deal with him any longer. I guess they just didn't put enough coolant in. I watch it during the next four months. It's not running hot and there is no coolant leaking on the driveway but the message never goes away. I get the oil changed somewhere else. They add a gallon of coolant and say it looks like it might be leaking from the turbo. The message is gone, imagine that, what a coincidence! I drive it eight miles, low coolant message is back! I don't want to deal with Hanlees again but they're probably responsible for this sloppy repair, so I take it back. Mgr. wants to charge for a diagnostic. Then tells me it's a small leak on a hose that no doubt needed to be changed during the first repair or they damaged it during the repair. The Mgr. knows I called him about the problem months ago but I should have brought it to him then, he says. They charge me $438 more for the repair. Initially he tells me no shuttle service to Winters from Davis. I complain enough they kindly (sarcasm) don't charge me for the diagnostic and pay for a Lyft. I own two Chevy's and a Nissan. I'll never buy or repair my cars again at Hanlees! I've got way more to say but this will have to suffice. read more

Wish i could give a negative star... I have bought 3 vehicles from this dealership. I've only had my cars serviced here. But I will NEVER do business with Hanlees again. My car had a recall and I had another electrical issue. I made an appointment, dropped my car off on February 8th. I am still without my car. I've called 50+ times and have only received 5 calls in return. The general manager will not return my calls. The service manager has lied about dates and parts. It is ridiculous. And they have not tried to offer a loaner vehicle for this duration. After the first month I inquired and they said they didn't have any vehicles...a dealership with no vehicles??? My Chevy Volt's warning light was beeping like crazy on my way back from SFO indicating an overheating engine. I took it to Hanlees on December 20th. The mechanics diagnosed it to be a sensor problem and informed me that due to a parts shortage, it would be about 2 to 3 weeks' wait. On Friday January 13th, the parts were still not available and Service manager Herman Franco referred me to GM Customer service. It took another 3 weeks for GM to come through and I was finally able to pick up my Volt today. Herman worked empathetically with me throughout this process and he treated me as a person rather than a run-of-the-mill customer. On top of this, he found a way to waive the $2000 cost of the parts and labor! Definitely FIVE STARS in service and compassion---we appreciate it very much!!! read more

We dropped the car off and they are delivering it to my father who is in a high risk group. My father has an extended service warranty from "The Mechanic" (purchased from Kuni Chevrolet). "The Mechanic" does everything they can to not pay out on claims. German gave up his lunch hour and stayed an hour after closing just to complete our claims with them. Chevy Volt wouldn't start in Sacramento for hours and was huge headache. Finally got an appointment a week later at Hanlees Davis to have the car looked at. They concluded that the FOB we didn't have with the car for the diagnosis was likely the problem and we should watch for the battery getting low. This made no sense. Both FOB work fine, we know what happens and how to start the car when a FOB battery runs low, and we have replaced the batteries many times. Still, Hanless charged us $165 to tell us the car was fine but the FOB at home was likely the problem. This is on a leased Chevy Volt. So I called to discuss and Zack the maintenance manager has ignored my calls. Sure, they did a diagnosis and so are changing for that. But they didn't find any problem we can fix, so we are both nervous driving the car any distance where we could get stuck, and we are out $165 having learned nothing. I called another Chevy dealership and they said as a simply courtesy they wouldn't charge for a diagnosis that didn't come to any conclusion about what was wrong. That does seem like a classy approach. I would recommend avoiding this dealership if you can. We will, and we'll share this story with anyone who will listen. One Name... "JOHN!" He works a service desk at your dealership. He is a stand up dude, straight to the point, knowledgeable, and knows the difference between fact and dealership fallacy. He up-sold my oil change due to 135k mileage when I had actually prior to coming anticipated the services as I'm mechanically inclined and knew my truck could use them before my road trip. He did it in a way that I felt comfortable saying yes, as I knew exactly what my truck needed prior! That being said. As a female, I'm use to shops taking advantage of the situation. Telling me something needs addressed, and then stared at, as I show them the part that supposedly needed addressed and they lied about. I work on my own stuff typically but can't in the summer due to fire season! Because of John I will return and be recommending it to my fellow colleagues! My elderly father has been going to Hanlees for over a decade, however, this will be his last time going there. He showed up to get a oil change, and left with an estimate for $1200 dollars in repairs that "needed" to be done. Things like: $52 for a license plate light bulb, $220 for a "low" battery, $45 for a air filter, $160 for "dirty" brake fluid. I find it hard to believe that it cost $52 dollars to reach behind a bumper and pull out and replace a $1.50 light bulb.All I can say is:Come on guys, REALLY? Update: So I did call and talk to the service manager even though I knew it would fall on deaf ears. She told me that "you're going to pay more for things at a dealership"... I had my car towed to Hanlees Davis Chevrolet during an emergency mechanical failure in my car and I wish I could have gone anywhere else. The service manager is an extremely rude person. I had to request the itemized service list be emailed from him several times before the document was sent. He treated me with disrespect assuming I couldn't understand the paperwork and insisting that I drive to Davis from Sacramento knowing my car is in his custody. He repeatedly said I needed to "visually see the forms" with him instead of just letting me work out any issues I was having with my warranty coverage with the company that I have the warranty with. Every step of the process of getting my car fixed has felt like the service manger trying to swindle me out of more and more money. He also said "too many people are involved" when I asked him to reach out to my claims adjuster because they had additional questions about the work being done on my car. I am not sure how many claims adjusters contacted him on my behalf but I can't imagine it is out of the ordinary to have verify work with claims people and warranty groups. If I hadn't had an emergency I wouldn't have gone there and now after this experience I would never plan to come back. If you are thinking of taking your car to this place just know, there are much better options. read more

They think they have a right to hold your ID for as long as they try to convince you to buy a car.
