Our friends are wine club members and encouraged us to check out Hanna for a tasting while we were out in Sonoma! Located a bit north of Sonoma, it was a lovely scenic drive to find Hanna! The estate is gorgeous, spanning many acres of rolling vineyards. The picturesque tree accents the tasting experience as you sit out on the patio to try their many many delicious wines! I loved that this was a smaller, more intimate experience and our wine expert, Shelby, was phenomenal! She continuously went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience...very knowledgeable, sweet, and enjoyable. The wines were stunning! Hanna specializes in red and white varietals, so there truly is something for everyone. We particularly loved their red blends and Zinfandel. We even ordered some bottles for delivery! While this winery is a bit removed from some of the higher traffic areas of wine country, it is absolutely worth the trip and experience! Loved every second of it! read more

We came here with our friends who are members for a "Pick Up" party. I love when wineries host parties to make it enjoyable for their members to come pick up their bottles. Makes it fun and festive. They had a beautiful charcuterie set up in the middle of the tasting room with many different kinds of cheeses, cured meats, dried fruits, fresh veggie sticks or slices, nuts, chocolate covered fruits, crackers, olives, spreads and breads. They also had this amazing bruschetta made with their own sun gold tomatoes! The whole table was just gorgeous! Couldn't stop eating. We were welcomed with a rosé when we checked in. But if you want more tastes, you simply walk up to the bar and ask for your next toast. I loved that feeling of walking to a bar and asking for my next pour. The "bartenders" were all warm and friendly, and had full knowledge and complete confidence in all their wines. We ended our pick up party with a small walk to take pictures in their rows of vines. I had always wanted to visit this winery. I have been to the wine tasting room in Santa Rosa and this one absolutely blows the Santa Rosa tasting room out of the water. The tasting was incredible -- our host was a sweetheart -- very knowledgeable about the wines and was so gracious. Loved every wine there -- they all reflect the terroir of the area. Really enjoyed visiting here - one of the most spectacular views of any winery in the area. Big thumbs up. read more

It was an awesome experience coming back to Hanna. We had been here many year's ago from the recommendation by a friend. I am so glad we came here and became Hanna drinkers and more happy that we came back to this beautiful winery. The drive over is just magnificent and when you finally arrive, you take the drive up the driveway to the beautiful tasting room. Years ago someone saw me drinking Hanna at our local steakhouse. I explained how I was introduced to the wine and how much I enjoy it. Turns out this gentleman worked with Dr. Hanna in San Francisco. Small world. We were club members many years ago and had already rejoined prior to visiting the winery. Hanna is prominently for my wife who is strictly a white wine person. No one turns out a better Sauvignon Blanc then Hanna and since I also enjoy the white wines, Hanna is the perfect spot. Don't get me wrong, Hanna also make wonderful red wine too. The selection of wines we received were perfect. All we drank we're rich and tasty. I know i'm drinking the right thing If a drink makes me want more. Hanna does just that. There is nothing better than drinking Hanna in the comfortable tasting room setting and looking out the windows at the amazing views. So happy we discovered Hanna winery! Absolutely a "must stop" in the Alexander Valley. Their selection and quality were so good, we happily joined the wine club! Well worth trying everything, even wines you may not be overly familiar with! Colombard is not a wine I have bought for myself, but which is one I would heartily recommend from Hanna... very refreshing light and quite tasty! OMG, Covid. Stuck at home for sooooo long. And last week, Hanna announced they're opening just a bit. So, a great time to break out of the shelter and try some wine and cheese and Hanna wine. And ... so good. The cheese choices were spectacular and complemented the wines beautifully. I don't know how they do it, making wines with the same names as at other wineries but not the same taste. Jeff must simply have the golden thumb. I went nuts over the Elias Pinot Noir on previous visits (and from my bottles at home) and it's not changed, thankfully. Came by on a Monday so definitely a good day for lower crowds in any event and due to covid separation it was even more sparse. Had one side of the deck to ourselves, just me, my wife and my overly barky dog. The drive is long but the rewards are great. Hanna for the win! read more

Recently visited Sonoma/Napa, and returned to Hanna. In a wine trip in 2017, it was the 2nd winery that we went to, having first steeled ourselves to not join any wine clubs (we already belong to a local one). However, as soon as we began tasting their delicious wines (especially reds), we were like, where do we sign? So twice a year for the last 6 years, we've been happily enjoying 6 bottles of delightful Hanna wines. Every time we start thinking about cutting back and canceling this one, we then receive our next shipment, and the answer is "oh no, we're keeping this!" So when we had the opportunity last month to go there again, with two other couples, we were like, "Hi, Honey, I'm home!" One other couple we were with also joined the club. They're that good. And it's just a gorgeous setting and ambiance. The server was very attentive and I'm just so happy that we went again, and that we are wine club members! read more

I love Hanna Winery and have been a member now for 3 years. Both the whites and red wines are fantastic. The new sparkling Sauvignon Blanc (yes! Sauv Blanc) is a treat. Big fan of the Malbec influence in many of their blends. Both the Alexander Valley and Bismark (moon mtn) Cabernets are my favorites. Get the cheese plate to pair. I came here with my mom who was visiting for Mother's Day and I have to say that Hanna (first time visiting) was one of the better ones we visited. We decided to do the wine and cheese pairing. During our tasting Josephine was great at helping us with our tasting notes. I'm not too familiar with wine and she helped better understand the differences between each wine w tried. I love being a member here? Why? Many reasons - the wine is really excellent. Just a lot of delicious variety to choose from here. The view at the tasting room is amazing - you can see for miles. The customer service - Elizabeth has served us several times and is always wonderful. We were there most recently last Saturday, and the wind was blowing on the shady side where we were sitting. I love coming to Hanna Winery with my BFF who is a member. The wines are so good and the staff is outstanding! We were there this past Saturday and Hannah (no relationship to the winery) really took care of us and made us feel special! That doesn't always happen at wineries, well not this level of hospitality. Hannah greeted us with a refreshing Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc that was the perfect way to start our tasting experience! We didn't stop smiling the whole time we were there! The other staff members behind the counter were also super nice and ensured we had what we needed (I didn't get their names). The wines here are STELLAR! My favorite is the Alchimie, because it's so unique, but their other reds are quite delicious! I also absolutely love their Malbecs that they produce, which are not found at many other wineries in this area! There's so many types of wine to pick from here, but the quality is always a true standout! I should also state their Reserves leave me speechless! Definitely worth visiting often! Hanna Winery was founded in 1985 by Dr. Elias Hanna, a world-renowned cardiac surgeon, who was eager to find a place in the country to continue the farming heritage of his upbringing in Syria. In the 1970s he realized his dream with the purchase of 12 acres in the Russian River Valley. Dr. Hanna's oldest daughter Christine now runs the winery. Hanna owns 600 acres of land in the Sonoma County's Russian River Valley, Alexander Valley and the Mayacamas Mountains, 250 of which are planted. Hanna is another beautiful little winery that is off the beaten track and a joy to hang out, taste some great wines and take in the scenery. This is my favorite winery in the area for a picnic. Trust me. Buy a bottle of the Sav Blanc on a warm summer day, bring a picnic, good friends, and you won't be disappointed. This tasting room has sweeping vineyard views every way you turn. There is seating indoors, but I recommend the covered patio or one of the many tables scattered under huge trees on the property. The staff were friendly, and even helped us take a few group photos. The atmosphere is relaxed, but upscale. The drive out to the Alexander Valley tasting room adds to the appeal too. Really enjoyed visiting this winery during Barrel Tasting 2017 with the Wine Road Event. The place is very open and have BEAUTIFUL views!!! Customer service is terrific. Aside from buying their wines... I also bought my wine travel case here and it was a great deal. $72bucks and it carries 12bottles that you can check in. It's a great deal. Cheaper than Amazon wine bags and it's so pretty with their gold lettering of "Hanna." Totally enjoyed this winery! They even had a local artist, Carol L. Walker, that had her paintings displayed inside. Definitely buying more of their wines. And will definitely be back to visit this winery in the future especially when I am in the area!!! read more

I absolutely love Hanna Winery. Almost 7 years ago, my husband and I came here on our honeymoon from a family members' recommendation. It was breathtaking then, and having moved to the Bay Area last year, it's just as breathtaking when it's (comparatively) in my backyard. The views are so beautiful. Last time I visited, I brought some friends who were visiting from New England, and the staff were so accommodating. I feel Hanna always goes above and beyond to make sure you enjoy yourself. We came to Hanna on a recommendation from the folks over at Twomey. Sad to say, but Hanna was just OK. None of the wine was extremely good, and the service was pretty bad. Most wines came with no explanation and simply a quick pour and the name of the wine. The older gentlemen, did warm up a little bit as the tasting progressed, but he clearly had more favoritism to the ladies (i.e., Cathy) than to the dudes. Thankfully we had a 2 for 1 tasting here to make it more worth it, but I don't think I will be back. I was on a hunt to join a wine club on the trip, so was highly considering Hanna. However, the price of shipping the 6 bottles not being included caused me to not join. Although it is a bit more, I joined Hawkes instead, mostly because they were so nice, and the single vineyard cabs were THAT good. I think that I will continue to pass on Hanna in the future. read more

Three stars for the wine, service can definitely be improved. when we walked into the tasting room the mature woman pouring looked astonished as if she was seeing aliens ( we are a shade of brown). She poured our first wine for us the sauv blanc. Then a younger women took over she was very hospitable and described each wine she was pouring. We decided to purchase two bottles of the Pinot noir ($45 each) got one of the tasting fees waived. The views at this vineyard are gorgeous. The tasting room sits up and gas sweeping views. Wine is decent views are fab, the initial interaction with the pourer was weird but, got better with the second pourer. read more

Note: if you have a Visa Signature, you get the classic tasting free (normally $10). Hanna Winery has a cute tasting room with picnic tables available in front. The tasting area was a little crowded when we got there on a Saturday afternoon (probably around 2:30pm) but they make room for you at the bar, and there was plenty of parking. We tasted off the classic tasting menu, which consisted of: -2013 Sauvignon Blanc, Russian River Valley ($19/bottle): Pretty good- I liked that it was light and fruity tasting. -2012 Chardonnay, Russian River Valley ($29/bottle): Not my favorite, and this tasted like croissants for some reason. -2012 Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley ($46/bottle): Yuck- one of the nastiest pinots I've had in a while. -2007 Merlot, Alexander Valley ($34/bottle): Ok- very smooth. -2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, Alexander Valley ($40/bottle): Again ok, and smooth tasting, We didn't end up purchasing any wine since we already have too many bottles of white wine. I liked that the people here were super nice and friendly, but efficient at pouring, so you can dictate the pace of your tasting a bit. We were cheerfully greeted by Hannah, who invited us in to show us our tasting options. She explained the differences in the wines and helped us settle on our choice. Hanna Winery was one of our absolute favorite wineries of the trip. Our group of 4 prefers reds but we enjoyed many of their whites as well. You can't go wrong with their Cabernets. We loved it so much we joined the wine club and visited both of their locations - the Healdsburg one is charming and has great outdoor seats whereas the Russian River location really has breathtaking views. We worked with Sara at both locations and she was absolutely fantastic - knew a lot about the history and the wines and was very accommodating for our friend who has Celiacs. Tasty wines, great prices, but service leaves something to be desired. We came in on Memorial Day, so everything was a bit less crowded than the previous Saturday or Sunday. But it was nice to not be crowded at the wineries/tasting areas. The wines were all pretty good. I enjoyed their rose and their sauvignon blanc; we actually purchased a bottle of their sauv blanc. A tasting for their cheaper wines was only $10, great price! The service was meh. The guy pouring the wine looked like he was 18 and didn't really know much about the wines. That's okay, we don't know much either. But it took us about 5 minutes just to get someone's attention to get a tasting started and they weren't even that busy. Annoying. It's always awkward, for me at least, when the wine pourer just stands there staring at you while you taste the wines. So the whole experience wasn't anything wonderful, but it was good, average. It would be better if they offered you to take your whole tasting on their patio to enjoy their wonderful views and breeze. So go, the wines are a good price, the tasting is a good price, but just don't expect stellar service. read more

A special event was going on, so the staff was busy and not as friendly as they probably might have been otherwise. Hanna is a BEAUTIFUL winery. The tasting room is amazing and the views from the porch are even better! Their Sauv. Blanc is one of my favorite white wines, EVER. Unfortunately, you can buy it at the store cheaper than the tasting room. I do recommend checking out Hanna, but I left unimpressed and actually the man pouring for us was very boring, not knowledgeable or at least didn't want to talk to us about the wine. He literally explained one of their blends as "the kitchen sink" and didn't even acknowledge us when we asked what exactly was in the blend. Maybe he thought 26 year olds are too young to enjoy the craft of wine making? I don't know, but he did not improve the experience there at all. If you've never been to Hanna, check it out because their wine is delicious and so is the view. Service may be iffy! read more

Hanna was a bit of a drive since we were staying in Sonoma city proper but I am definitely glad we made the drive. The scenery was the best of any place we visited on our first day of tasting. It is a little off the beaten path but that's probably what makes the ambience so nice. It was not busy at all on a Saturday in January but I had a tasting reservation anyway. The veranda was closed because of rain but we had a nice table inside with a view of the hills that the property sits in front of. Our pourer for the tasting was very nice enough and described the different varieties. I was hoping to get more of an education and background from the reviews I had read but she seemed distracted and didn't really offer up much other than what was already listed in the description. From what I have read and saw we just got the wrong person (older blonde woman) since others had a different experience. Hanna also had my favorite wines that I have tasted so far in Sonoma. Their biggest production is for their Sauvignon Blanc but I thought their reds were spectacular. We bought a bottle of Pinot Noir and their high end Cabernet blend which came out to about $110 for both. Well worth it. Their Pinot Noir was one of the better ones I have had, even having lived near the Willamette Valley. Overall, wonderful scenery, ok service and excellent wines. read more

We had lunch at one of the most scenic venues in Healdsburg over the weekend - a picnic table at Hanna Winery! We picked up sandwiches at the Jimtown Store, grabbed a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc at Hanna's tasting room and set up an insta-picnic. The Sauv Blanc is a great picnic wine, perfect for warm weather and a bargain at $19. Once we were finished with lunch we went back to the tasting room to continue our tasting. Wines were pretty solid across the board, my favorite being the Pinot Noir. Tasting fee is $5 but they waived it for us since we purchased a couple of bottles - score! read more

This is my favorite winery. The wines are moderately priced and they have some killer dry creek sinfindels. I'm convinced that they have the best driveway in the wine country because it's take you winding down a manicured road which eventually leads to their gorgeous tasting room. The neat thing about the driveway is it's also a good gauge if you've drank too much because you will take a turn too tight and come a little too close to their roses-trust, I've done it too many times. This is my one and only wine club, yes I finally did it, I'm a yuppie now, woohoo! Now all I need is a fluffy lapdog and one of those cars that makes me looks like I'm either a trust fund baby or a somone who uses her cleavage to get what she wants. Wonderful winery set up on the east hills of Sonoma Valley. Wonderful views from their patio of the vineyards and rolling hills. This was a highlight of our day last weekend. Not only because we actually enjoyed most of their tasting menu, but the staff here really elevated the experience. We had Ted in the tasting room and he was fantastic. Struck up conversation with the 4 of us, walked us through the tasting menu, gave us a couple extra things that weren't on the menu and even made a couple suggestions for things we should buy that they weren't tasting that day on their menu but are completely worth it to buy. Without his added touch, I would definitely have given this place a solid 4 stars, but he just elevated our mood and even gave us a recommendation for the next winery. We ended up walking out with 8 bottles! Pros: Absolutely stunning 360 views of the property. Have a porch on the outside of the tasting room, an outdoor space, private parking, very clean tasting room, and interesting tile in their bathroom (I know, weird tidbit, but it's still neat!) Their wines are priced well, with all levels of pricing. We purchased their ranch red, sauvignon blanc and interestingly, the rose. Not many times will I take a rose, but this was super good! Tasting fee was either $10 or $15, but waived with purchase, which was totally worth it. All the tasting menu was pretty good, and they have a couple of award winners to try on the menu as well. Also, their tasting menu gives you more than just 3-4 pours, which was nice you got to try a wider breadth of what they do. Cons: Couldn't find any really - we loved our experience here! read more
