This place is absolutely incredible. First off, it's in a building full of individual rooms/suites so it's a very intimate vibe. Today was the first day that I got an airbrush ombré which is nice because that means I don't have to take all of my nails off to have a different color. The pedicure was the best I ever had. Finding Tony and Yen was a blessing in disguise for me. I've been faithful to my nail artist for 5 years now, and I was so sad to have to look for someone new when she broke the news to me that she had to take an extended break from work because of carpal tunnel. I have tried other nail artists at her salon and have never quite been fully happy with the results, so I decided to see if there was anyone else nearby who could even remotely match her skills. Tony and Yen are EXCELLENT at creating a clean, welcoming environment, and they both do amazing work. I got a full set with a pedicure. Notice those pictures, Tony's art is freehand. No stickers or stamps, and I've gotten nothing but complements! My feet feel amazing, even almost a week after my pedicure, Yen really took the time to listen to what I wanted, she even managed to get me almost falling asleep in the chair. The studio is in a Sola Salon studio, it's small so there's no room to have a big crowded line of people, which means they're able to fully focus on just taking care of you. I cannot believe it's taken me this long to leave a review. I have been going to Yen since they relocated to the Sola Salon location. It's been almost two years. I have been searching for a nail place that felt like home and provided excellent services. I am so glad I came across one of Yen's husband Tony's posts in my local neighborhood Facebook page. I was skeptical, the prices he was posting were VERY reasonable AND the pictures of the work he and Yen do were flawless! I started as one of Yen's clients and I never want to leave her! I watch Tony do his clients nails and pedicures too while I am there, he does amazing work too. Yen is a true Artist. Anytime I bring her an inspiration photo, she nails it! She is so detailed, and I always leave the salon feeling like I got exactly what I wanted! She and Tony are so nice and welcoming. Keeping their business as "cash only", helps them maintain their competitive and fair pricing for services. I also love the wall and cabinets FULL of nail color options. I have been handed rings of nail art, rings of different color options, books of nail color and nail art options... I honestly don't know Yen and Tony have so many! The Sola Salon room is smaller, but allows for a more intimate and relaxing experience. Located inside Teresa Salon, all the way back right when you walk in. Parking: didn't seem to busy for a Friday around 2pm. I called Tony to see if I could walk in and he was super nice and had time to fill me in. 5 minutes later I was getting my gel manicure. Service: Tony gives you great advice on nail, if you should do gel or acrylic. Note this place only does gel or acrylic. He does magic on your nails! Takes the time to make sure they are the right shape and size and exactly what you came in and asked for. I loved the way my nails come out, but I wished he cleaned up my nails better at the end cause they were still dusty. I get it, I can wash my hands when I come home but still. I was so disappointed by the service I received as I was expecting top notch quality based on the reviews. The first time Tuấn did my fill. I thought it was good overall (except for the acrylic that was all over some fingers) but when I got to my car I noticed that when he applied oil it damaged (smeared) the paint on one nail so I had to go back to have it fixed. The second time his wife did my fill and asked if I wanted the same shape (coffin) but she gave me square and also was sloppy with the acrylic on one nail so that it left a tiny ball of it pressing into my finger and I ended up breaking another nail to get it to come off. I also didn't like how tiny and cramped the space is and the fact that there's a limited color selection--rather than being handed books or rings of colors to choose from I had to describe what I wanted and both times they didn't have exactly what I wanted. I got here a little before my appointment but he was still helping the customer that was before me. He told me to sit down and pick a color. I thought her was finishing up and that it will be pretty quick...but it ended up being about 45 mins after my appointment. He apologized many times while he was doing the other ladies nails. Once he was ready for me he told me that one of his clients came late which pushed back his timeline. I was not happy but I understood that stuff happens and it's not always in his control. So for this reason I would have taken 1 star away but since he didn't rush through my nails and still took the time to be detailed, I decided to keep it at 5 stars. The only thing I would say is, I would have appreciated if I was told ahead of time so I could have ran some errands instead of just stilling there. I got the gel manicure ($20), definitely worth the price! He also didn't charge for a color change, which was really nice! My ultimate favorite place to get a simple gel manicure of a set of acrylics. From time to time, I even get powder out on my natural long nails if I'm feeling fancy. Tony & his wife do a great job at perfecting the filing and polishing of nails. I've visited so many places in San Jose that cost more but chip, peel, crack and even fade in a week. When I'm super busy, my gel manicure can last up to a month chip or peel free. The only reason why I go back is because my nails have grown out, not because the polish is ruined. Make sure to call or text to set an appointment since there are no walk-in's. They get booked pretty quickly so set up appointments ahead of time. Also make sure to bring CASH!
