Fantastic experience with Hansen Brothers! We are moving to Spain in a few days, and needed to load out quite a bit of furniture, memory boxes, heirloom china plates/dishes. Estaban and Key showed up promptly and friendly. We had worked with Nicole ahead of time to get an estimate, who also was fantastic. What was surprising is the care they took for every item. We had pre-packed all the boxes, but they inspected each one, and if there was room, they placed crumpled paper in the voids to make sure the items were safe. For the furniture, they wrapped EVERY item in at least two-three layers of crumpled paper wrap to protect the finish. For the loose items we didn't trust ourselves to pack, they came with all the materials to make sure they were packed safely. They were courteous the entire process, and after NINE hours of moving the finished and looked exhausted but satisified with a job well done. I should also mention some of our furniture was HEAVY (like Piano heavy) and they bravely and skillfully navigated those challenges with mental and physical strength! In a couple years once we find our new place in Spain, they already have all of our goods CUSTOMS ready! We just need to call them with our location in Spain and a few months later our goods will show up in the same condition they were picked up in. I will come back to review once our items arrive in Spain, but I have no doubts in Hansen brothers as I used them 20 years ago for another significant move, and also had an amazing experience then. I recently moved from Renton to Kent WA with the help of the Hansen Bros. Moving Co. The only thing which would have been better was free service. I promptly received a quote on request; I was kept informed by their office and the moving guys were prompt, professional and quick. Hansen Brothers is downright ABSOLUTE WORST MOVING COMPANY my husband & I have ever experienced! If you're looking for a moving service, please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere!!! The Washington location to be specific. We've been charged nearly $10k for moving (from one penthouse to another), the price wasn't the factor, the piss poor service & attention to detail is however! Why you ask? I'll list a wide array: 1. Nicole Nicholson, Sales/customer service representative that came out to view/assess our property & assets for an estimated quote, not only assured us she would be a point of contact from start to finish however we were not contacted at any point of the move from either herself or her team until they had already arrived which we were later informed was due to the Operation Manager, John Smith being on vacation. 2. The 3rd party service Hansen Bros. that was utilized, named RMS appeared on the initial move date, where there were unable to unmount our 77 inch. television alone. We were informed prior that the job would require 2 sets of hands, we requested a second person be hired for the job. Not ONLY did they not hire another set of hands, in the middle of a work day they also asked my husband to help him do so, however as the movers were still loading the truck within the hour the mounting person was anticipated to arrive within 2 hours and they in fact canceled the service the day of, no longer answers our calls which led Hansen Bros. to outsource yet another person from RMS. The following day when that gentleman arrived, he was not equipped to mount the television with proper equipment and had not informed us that we were to provide the equipment, despite the additional fees. Ultimately we ended up having to outsource ourselves. 3. Our Tempur-Pedic bed is now missing the cables after the move. We didn't spend thousands on a bed for it to lack functionality. Our recliner cables were also unplugged however they left the cables yet we're unaware of where they're to be plugged because no other company or ourselves have never removed the cords. (It's been a week and we are yet to locate the cables). They did have someone come out to help look for the cables, they were unable to locate them. Assuming they lost the cables in transit somehow, instead of trying to further remediate the issue, they simply seized communication with us altogether. 4. With a total of 4 unpackers, 3 movers, and 2 failed outsourced mounters we were over budget despite us helping them to unpack our belongings and not compensated. 5. They have also broken one of our night stands as well, no apology, nor has anyone reached out. On a positive note: 1. The movers Ceaser, and his crew were great! They were efficient, finished the job early and even sacrificed their lunch to get us moved on time. 2. Also the packers, Foreman Will, & packer Daisy were both extremely efficient and super resourceful! In conclusion, if you're looking to relocate please do yourself the GREATEST favor ever because moving is hard enough. Simply don't use Hansen Brothers. We recently completed a move from Washington to California with Hansen Bros. and Allied (as interstate carrier). It was a DISASTER from start to finish. The Hansen Bros. estimator walked through our house very quickly, tapping rapidly on his iPad. There were several back-and-forth discussions with the estimator and two other visits. In the end, we paid an additional $2K for boxes that needed to be delivered on site the day of the pack - and they had to call for extra crew because the estimate was so far off, despite my husband actively assisting with the packing and loading. The delivery, however, sunk to a new level of incompetence. After no communication despite repeated calls, the crew finally arrived over 3 hours late (and a block away from our address). When Allied starting unloading (after 2 PM), two of the movers were nearly physically incapable of climbing stairs, let alone carrying something up one flight of stairs. The 1st man (in his 60's) recently had knee surgery and was wearing a knee brace. He was unable to kneel down to even tape the floor runners. Within an hour he said that he "came back to work too soon" and stayed in/near the truck for the remainder of the day. A 2nd man also had (I assume) a knee/leg issue, as he dragged his leg significantly. He also shared that he was the brother-in-law of the first man, this was his first time moving, and he had received no training. He admitted that he was there only because he'd heard about a day job from his brother-in-law. Within the 1st hour, my husband and I started shuttling boxes from the truck because we could see how long it was taking. My husband was on one end of every piece of furniture that went up the stairs: 2 dressers, 2 desks, one queen mattress, one king mattress, two bookshelves and four box springs. What was most heartbreaking was the lack of proper packing materials and how poorly items were secured in the truck. Items such as an 18th century French chair were covered with one blanket. Several chairs had broken legs, cracked seats and much of the furniture had massive gouges and scratches. As the broken furniture began to pile up, the crew lead said that it was the fault of the Hansen Bros. Newcastle warehouse. He said, "they must have a new crew, this is SO bad, I've never seen a move this bad". Additionally, the following damage occurred to our home: * dropped a dresser and cracked the bottom stair * repeatedly hit the stairwell ceiling * broke an exterior landscape light (a mover stepped on it) * carrier left the site with our mattress, though the crew did return with it the next day As we were attempting to complete the inventory at the end of the night (they left at 10 PM), the crew leader apologized for the chaos and all the broken items. He then said that he should have STOPPED THE UNLOAD when he realized that two of the three men were incapable of carrying anything. I was born and raised in Seattle and when we interviewed movers, we chose Hansen Bros. because of their reputation. We were truly saddened and shocked at how poorly this move was executed, the unprofessionalism, and the demonstrated negligence with our personal property. Working with Hansen for our move from Seattle to Buffalo was a mistake. Our stuff has finally arrived, over 3 weeks past the end of the promised window. After having a wonderful experience moving with them across town in Seattle in 2019, we figured they were worth the additional cost quoted in comparison to directly working with their transcontinental partner, Allied. The first warning should have been that the quote was made on Allied printed materials. Salesperson was ok, although we were never warned about the upcoming situation of which they were obviously aware. Move was picked up on time by a fairly unprofessional crew that took breaks every 15 minutes and didn't bring the mattress bags we requested (they promised us this would be remedied as soon as they got to the holding facility- that never happened). Still no warning from the Hansen team of what was to come. The next day, we received a call saying that our transcontinental driver had backed out and they were going to store our stuff and find another driver. The following 5 weeks until the move was packed onto a different van line (we were never informed that our move had been sold to someone else to complete it) consisted of numerous calls to several different customer service reps. When we were fortunate enough to catch them at a time when they weren't "in meetings all day" (having repeatedly failed to follow through on promises to call us back), they offered a laundry list of excuses that I don't care to waste your time detailing, dear yelp reader. Suffice it to say that they weren't able to do much because they had to wait on Allied (direct calls to Allied were also basically a waste of time- I will leave a separate review for them). It was clear that they weren't losing any sleep over our family's dilemma, including needing to push a work start date back a few times. No complaints about the line to which our move was sold (North American). Once they had our stuff they came quickly and exactly when they said it would. Made an appointment with the quote team 2 weeks earlier and they did not show up at their appointment time. The called only to lie about call times and appointment times. Excuses from Paula and she was rude to me on the phone. If they can show up to an appointment, how would they handle our move out of state? I have done business with Hanson Brothers before but never again. We are very disappointed in Hanson Brothers with the circular arguing and rudeness of Paula. Unfairly billed, hours were stretched. I clocked movers standing in my kitchen shooting the shit but not clocking out as leaving until much later. Taking extra and extended breaks, working at a snail pace. The sales people were nice and mostly understanding until I was told my bill would be adjusted only to receive an astronomical bill with white out all over it, hmm looks like someone doesn't want me to see their adjustment, too disappointing to show me? The movers were prompt and flexible and kind, and very patient with us! We were a little frazzled and dealing with a stressful move along with a nervous dog - the movers were amazing. If I could give them 0 stars or even negative, I would. I have moved over 20 times - even taken my precious glass/crystal/etc., items from here to Germany and back without one small thing being broken and in one move to California from Seattle, these untrained and clearly uncaring humans have managed to leave me with a long list of broken, trashed, unusable family treasures. They cannot be replaced. They trashed my house - that I was putting on the market Thousands of dollars later, which they will be paying for, I was forced to hire contractors to manage fixing what their team couldn't manage to protect. Scratched my wood floors, gashes in the walls and the list goes on. Now I'm dealing with opening boxes to broken, trashed and scratched things that can't be fixed or replaced. No padding on the floors or walls. No sense in how things were packed or where they were put into a box. I cannot believe anyone could care so little about someone else's life or collections. One guy busted into my alcohol and drank from a $250 bottle of imported liquor. Another guy wrapped my great grandmother's irreplaceable jewelry box with packing tape and put it in the bottom of a box - no wrapping. Trashed it. And one of the guys was more interested in my personal life than doing his job. I'm sick to my stomach about it. Sending me money is NOT going to make me feel better. Of course they don't care about their service, they have a monopoly in Seattle. That they are using to buy a basketball team, by the way. Disgusted with the whole lot of them. Our recent move was actually what we expected. Our estimate was lowered because we did pack a few things ourselves. We noticed later a few things were not properly labeled but were found intact. The movers themselves were polite and careful with our belongings. They were able to maneuver our steep terrain at our new home without incident. Movers aren't mind readers. Explain what you want and what you expect. I would use them again. read more

UPDATE: We are all moved in and I couldn't be happier. The move out of dumpy apartment and into the new home was quick and the next day return of our items from long term storage was efficient. I recommend that you take the time to pack and label your own belongings. The boxes I packed were easy to identify and determine which room they should land in. The boxes they packed and labeled were undamaged, but also hard to determine what it was until the items were unwrapped. For furniture you can't pack yourself, but one strategy would be to label the item for the movers so when they pack the item for storage that they can inventory it with your name not theirs. "China hutch" is far more descriptive to me than "cabinet". That way they could move it into the room it's going to live in and remove the protective blankets there rather than haul the items thru your house with the sharp edges exposed. BONUS: I think I mentioned that you can pick up used boxes at their facility to save $$ on packing materials, but did you know that you can take the boxes back when you're done? This saved us space in the garage and I felt like we were doing a tiny bit to lessen the impact of the move. They took back the clean paper we used to wrap dishes. Packing yourself is a time consuming nightmare, but you'll save money in the end. Everyone we dealt with was friendly and professional. I should also note the final price came out to be less than the original bid. Using a professional mover isn't a minor expense, but 100% worth it! ADVICE: When undergoing something like this that includes long term storage, think long and hard about what you really need to hold onto. I find that I'm taking things to goodwill that I paid to store for nine months. Silly Lady. read more

They treat the neighborhood like they own it. They show no respect for the people who live around their business. They can be heard yelling across their lot and blasting classic rock before 6 am most days. There's a semi truck in their lot right now that's been idling for the last 15 hours all night into Saturday morning. I appreciate that every business needs operating hours which can start early in the morning, but this business is either oblivious or doesn't care about the amount of noise pollution they create even during the evenings and weekends. They treat the neighborhood like it's a truck stop. The neighborhood would appreciate some quiet hours from this business. read more

Brad (Schuster) was the 1st moving and storage professional we spoke with who actually was willing to come to our home to view our belongings and the challenging parking area around our condo. He educated us, provided a contract quickly once we decided, and gave us a date. We asked for an earlier date if they had a cancellation, and it worked-we met with Brad on Tues and were able to move that Fri! George called exactly when Brad said he would, and Art, Ross, Ronald, Adam, and William were awesome! They were punctual, extremely careful with our furniture and belongings, asking questions and wrapping everything in blankets or shrink-wrap, depending on fragility, They were fast, focused and professional, answered all of our questions and we felt comfortable trusting them with everything. Hansen's did a great job moving my Grandmother from a retirement apartment into an adult group home. The movers (Cory and John) were on time and prepared. There was not a lot to move but there were 3 places to drop off her things after the truck was packed. Cory & John were professional and helped me figure which items were going to all these drops. I interviewed 3 moving companies and had them give me an on site quote for my move. I really liked the presentation by the Hansen Bros. rep and even though they were the most expensive, I chose them for my move. The reason I chose them was due to other reviews I had read on line and the length of time they had been in business. And I like my stuff - I felt confident they would handle my belongings with care. On move day, my 4 man crew arrived - Suka, Raymond, Marcus, and Chris - very professional, polite and hardworking team that worked together to get the job done. It was a long day and up to the end, they asked if there was anything additional I wanted moved around. They took an appropriate lunch break (which I provided) but other than that didn't stop working for the full 8 hours of the move. I give them a 4 of 5 just due to a small billing issue that was ultimately resolved in my favor. There was also some minor damage to my door and walls that was also quickly responded to and will be repaired by the company. I would recommend them and use them again. I just used Hansen Bros. for my move and had 2 big issues: 1 - they went WAY over the estimate, almost 50% more. 2 - they damaged our refrigerator and are refusing to take full responsibility for it. Instead of taking it out the front door, they took it out the back door, which meant they had to lift my HUGE refrigerator over a fence....resulting in it being dropped on the ground and 5 huge dents. Once it was in the moving truck, they neglected to protect it from further damage. Any professional company would have known the front door without a fence was the better method. Our experience was the complete opposite of the others posted here. We packed our own boxes so I'm not able to comment on their packing ability, but the actual move from West Seattle to Whidbey Island was seamless and drama free. The crew called to let me know they were one their way, they showed up on time, they listened to my concerns and proceeded to move things very carefully out of our home into their truck. As promised, they called the next morning and showed up with smiles on their faces -- they carefully unloaded the truck and placed our furniture where we asked -- even moving it multiple times until we had everything were we wanted it. Never a grumble or a sigh. We would absolutely, without hesitation recommend them to anyone facing a move -- it's stressful enough, but they made it enjoyable. read more

Moving out; the packing truck parked in a really bad spot and a woman ran directly head on in to the truck. She went to the hospital, her car was totaled, and their truck was towed away. The result, it took three hours longer to pack up. The next day for the move out, they missed needing a small truck to shuffle the boxes and furniture. That delayed the pack up by two hours. The big truck did not have enough room to fit all our belongings, actually about a third did not get on. While shuffling our household goods from one truck to the other, they dropped an end table from the back of the truck to the street. sine all goods did not make it on, we had to wait for another truck that took the remaining stuff to their warehouse. The result, it took five extra hours to get everything out. Also, this family of movers did not give a rip. Very careless with floors and walls, numerous marks everywhere. Moving in; the second delivery took two weeks after the first delivery. During the delivery, they damaged a porcelain floor tile. A half dozen items were damaged and a few items still can't be found. The result, Allied Claims dismissed a number of my claims and after the deductible, the insurance policy taken out actual cost more than my approved claim amount refunded. From the Hansen Brothers (Newcastle) staff who assisted me with packing materials, ( there were several persons here, all were awesome) I will really miss not popping in,,,, you really helped a lot. Brad and Abi with advising me with ways to make the move more affordable for her, this was much appreciated. Then on to Keith and Penny ( our Allied Van Lines drivers), you two were awesome and the crew you hired to help on the front and back end were terrific, too. I've used four other moving companies over the years and this was the worst. The gentleman that loaded the truck acted like he was loading firewood and not my possessions. I had multiple scratches dents and dings to my belonging. Even lost a chunk of carving from an heirloom, and he couldn't have cared less. He even dropped multiple items. I am now left wth two complete bedroom sets that are scratched and totally beat up! As he was loading the truck a couple pictures fell, one broke and I ended up loading several items in my car because he was just trying to shove them in spots using his shoulders to push, I was horrified plus things were not wrapped properly and scraped against other items. Antique rocker that back upholstery is torn, antique chest with carving piece missing I asked he look for it but don't think he did I'm sure it was in the truck somewhere , entertainment center deep gouge in front, roll top desk that edging was damaged. Plus gouges to my walls! In all my other moves I never had any damages. When I mentioned the damages the gentleman got mad and said he'd take pictures of said damage but he never did and he told me to contact the office, he was in a real hurry to leave. read more

We hired Hansen Brothers at New Castle to move the furniture of our 3-bedroom house. We packed and moved our own boxes. Their representative came to our house and gave us an estimate of 5 hours. It ended up taking 9 hours! This is largely due to that fact that the 35-minute drive between our old and new houses took them almost 2 hours. The worst part is that they don't know how to disassemble our Ikea furniture for moving purposes. For those furniture they managed to dis-assemble, they did not pick up the screws. I ended up following them and trying to pick up the screws that fell off our bed. Obviously, they had no intention of putting things back together. We were so frustrated that we ended up having to assemble our own furniture. I wish they have a 0 star rating. read more

Hansen Bros. performed a move at the company I work for, out and back during a remodel - and I was very impressed with their services, so when I needed a large amount of inventory moved from a warehouse to my home, I thought of then, and they did not disappoint. Gordon in sales was very helpful, and even though this was a smaller job for them, I'm sure, he provided excellent service, and went out of his way to contact me and keep me informed. The actual movers were great! Really great! Peter and Jarrod were very professional, extremely quick, very hardworking, and even knew how to keep me calm and added some levity. They obviously enjoy their job, have good camaraderie and just made the experience enjoyable. It was so nice to get such great service. read more

Do not hire this company! The only seamless part of our interstate move was the estimate by Jim Dessin. We chose Hansen Bros. because Jim Dessin promised us ALL INCLUSIVE estimate. I double checked couple of times and his words were "From here the price can only go down if you downsize." My first clue should have been when after promising to drop the written contract a week before our move I ended up signing the contract more then two hours into the move! When 4-5 days before our move I called the mover's office, I was told that we are not on the schedule. The movers were disrespectful and unprofessional. At one point they were talking about getting sick from drinking too much the night before. They would disappear for long stretches of the time. After wondering were they went, I would find them hanging out on the back of the track. In total they were out for more then 2 hours. We ordered full packing service, they did not even taped all the boxes and things fell out. One hour into our move they run out of boxes!!!!! There is much more complaints, but simply put they were awful. I cried after they left. Remember, in the beginning J.Dessin reassured us that our estimate was "all inclusive"? Well, two days after they picked up our things and put it into storage for a month I got a phone call from Hansen Bros. stating that our credit card charge was declined. When I asked how much did they charge, they told me the sum and it was just over a THOUSAND dollars more than the quote. Apparently the interstate estimate is all inclusive, not the local part one. I know what I was told in the beginning and more then once by their estimator (see above). So not only we got awful service, but we were overcharged for it as well. I protested, and after they "checked" their books, they reversed charges to the original cost. It took them 4 days to do. I asked J.Dessin how long notice do they need to bring our goods after we find a place. He said as soon as I tell him the address, he needs 3-4 days to prepare a shipment and 3-4 days to deliver. About a week he said and you'll get your goods. I notified him 10 days before the move date. He told me to call his office and talk to interstate specialist Vicky. When I asked her when will we get our shipment - she said 2-3 weeks!!!! When I told her that J.Dessin told me a week, she got rude and told me that how business works and one week is not possible. On delivery the driver did not allow me to check the inventory, did not provide any paper work. Movers piled boxes 6 deep, so we can't get access to the boxes. Pieces of furniture were missing, things got broken, missing clothes (as they did not tape all the boxes). Valuable picture was gone. The moving stickers with tracking numbers were useless in tracking as they managed to put two and a few times even three stickers per item. We got 200$ from Allied, but we were out for more then a 1000$. If anyone wants detailed info, please contact me and I reply. The list of deficiencies and complaints is far from full. This is just an abbreviated version. We had major problems with them EVERY part of our move. read more

I had them deliver a bunch of furniture that we had put in storage there a few years ago. It all went swimmingly. They were easy to talk to in setting a date, they came on time. I was impressed that all the pieces were individually wrapped in those big moving pads and they said yes they were stored that way the whole time. The guys doing the moving were efficient, nice guys, and the job got done quickly. I will say their estimate was high, but the actual charge, based on their actual time taken was quite reasonable, much less than the estimate, so that was a nice surprise! read more

We've used Hansen Brothers for 3 moves now and have always had great experiences. They are courteous, careful, and on-time. One of our moves involved 3 months of storage mid move. We've never had anything missing or damaged. I've never been able to say that about another mover. Recently we even had Hansen Brothers help us move a 300 lb slab of wood to the finishers for a table top we are working on. Whatever the job, Hansen Brothers is willing and able. read more

Since they were delivering part of the move to a local address then the remainder 3,000 miles away I thought the cost was extremely reasonable. I give them one star because all our things did arrive and there was hardly any damage done. But if you are looking for a moving company that does what they promise, like anwsering e-mails, sneding files, giving you a price, returning calls, be there when they promised to be there, then DO NOT choose Hansen Bros, Bellevue office. The pakking and the moving of the boxes and furniture was done by great guys from the Lynnwood office. Our aircargo move to Europe arrived, but too late due to bad communication and managemnet form the responsible persons in the Bellevue office, in spite of our repeated telefon calls and e-mails. read more

We needed to move a large heavy Viking range from my house to my friend's house one mile away. The guys did a great job, fast and efficient, and we both had a lot of stairs. This is the second time I've used Hanson for a small local move job and I highly recommend them!!! read more

I hired Hansen Brothers Moving for a cross country move from Washington State to Kentucky. Their representative came to my property to make a bid. At that time I showed him the access points and the two locations where I would be staging my property prior to moving. I explained that I had to be out of the home on May 14th per our sales contract. They were unable to do the move that day but said they could do it on May 15th. I got the okay from the purchaser and scheduled the move for the 15th. When the mover arrived on May 15th, they were hauling a 53 foot trailer. The driver could not get the trailer onto the property because of power lines and turning radius. He said that they would need to bring a smaller trailer and could not do the move until May 16th. He said that they would be there at 8am on May 16th. I explained to him that the rep had been to the property and saw the access. The driver said that it wasn't passed on to him. The driver did not arrive until after 10am on May 16th. I had my property packed and staged in two locations. It took 3 movers until 4pm to load the trailer. When I was going to sign the inventory, the driver told me that I would be charged for them having to make two trips. I refused to pay, telling him that their rep had been on the property, saw where they would be doing the pickup, and that it was his responsibility to relay the information to the driver. Ultimately, they didn't charge me for the second trailer but later got me with "additional weight" charges. I was contacted by the driver on May 24th, telling me that he would be arriving around 10am on May 25th. I arrived at the storage area where my property was to be stored at 930am on May 25th. The driver arrived around 2:30pm, calling me twice to tell me that traffic was bad. When he did arrive, he told me that he would not be able to get his trailer into the storage area parking lot. We eventually had to borrow a pickup truck from the storage company owner and shuttled all of my property via pickup truck. We spent approximately four hours unloading the truck. While we were unloading, I discovered that a leg had been broken off of my kitchen table. The driver told me to file a claim. Because of the lateness of their arrival, we just worked on getting the property into the storage unit and I did not do an item by item inventory. This turned out to be a mistake. A few weeks later when I was going through the storage unit, I discovered that the hose to my pressure washer was missing. I also discovered that our Xbox One and several games were missing. I contacted Hansen Brothers and filed a claim through the insurance. For the pressure washer and the broken table, I was sent a check for $260.00. This was after the $500.00 deductible which should not have been charged because I made the reservation through Amazon Prime. In regards to the Xbox, the response was that they couldn't prove that it was loaded because the 11 page inventory didn't specifically say XBox anywhere. The majority of pages of the inventory just say "box". I contacted Hansen Brothers and told them that the insurance company had refused my claim and that I would be filing a complaint with the Utilities and Transportation Commission. I was told that they would start at trace and that a manager would probably be in touch. That was on July 16. To date, no one has contacted me. I was quoted a low price for the move of $7,588.20 with a maximum of $8,347.02. Hansen Brothers ultimately charged me $9,130.45. Supposedly this was because of "additional weight" but I actually ended up transporting some of the property that was supposed to go on the move in my pickup truck. Word of advice - watch every item of yours that they guys load both going and coming and make sure they write the contents of the boxes on the inventory sheet. read more
