Choose Hanseth Electrical for your electrical projects! 200-amp panel upgrade from original 100-amp service (1979) so we can prepare for future projects: EVs, air conditioning and some woodworking tools. Took three competitive bids. All very close in price and terms. What gave Hanseth the edge was the owner Chad's personality plus he has a "stucco guy". Chad is a very friendly humble owner but not overly friendly that he lingers about for too long. Panel replacement is a day-long event so plan accordingly. The homeowner doesn't really need to do anything. Chad's team takes care of all the permitting beforehand and city inspections throughout. Also, the technicians onsite clean up their mess after the installation; I'm not a big fan of those small electrical pieces some folks leave behind. As far as the stucco repairs, Chad schedules George to put things back to the way they were. Appreciate George's attention to detail and attempt to match color. Work completed in January 2024. Hope to use Hanseth Electrical again once we stack up a few projects to make their next visit worthwhile! read more

I recently started some home renovations and needed to upgrade my electric panel to a 200 amp in order to install solar panels and a heat pump. After looking at all the positive Yelp reviews, I called Hanseth Electric and made an appointment with Chad (the owner) for an estimate. I have a 2-story house and the 1-1/2" pipe carrying the wires down to the panel had to be changed out to a 2" pipe. This also entailed opening up the stucco to make the change possible. Chad assured me that the plasterer he uses was a pro and I'd never see the repair. Chad suggested we run the 220V heat pump circuit inside the wall since it would already be opened up and we could eliminate an ugly piece of conduit. I asked if he could also put the conduit needed for our solar in and he had me call the solar people and confirm the size - another ugly conduit eliminated. He also figured in an upgraded 225 amp solar ready panel and then offered to remove the conduit housing our car charger and reinstall that inside the wall too. At this time I was sure I wanted to use Chad but the added cost of a 2-story change out plus all the extra circuits and work we wanted gave me pause. I went ahead and did my homework and called two more highly reviewed electricians for additional quotes. The lowest of the two was going to try to replace the pipe from inside the house with me responsible for all the drywall repair and if there was a problem they would do it from the outside for an additional $1500. Without any problems this was already $1000 higher. I called Chad back to get started. Richard and Jeff showed up a couple of days later, opened up the wall and got down to business. They were extremely professional, worked neatly, and were friendly to be around. Both were a pleasure to have working in our home. A friend bought a home in Orange County and we needed an electrician to install a circuit breaker and outlet. We called another eletrical firm and they indicated $4,840 to refurbish an electrical panel and add a circuit breaker and outlet. The pressure they put on my friend to sign and schedule was immense - very high pressure which is a very bad sign. I called Hanseth Electric and Chad came out and looked at what we needed. He confirmed that the electrical panel did not require any work (the other firm wanted over $3,000 for this). Adding the circuit breaker and outlet was $325 from Hanseth - much less than the other high-pressure firm. Installation team were just here. They called in advance as they were available earlier in the day which was great for me. Job was done and looks very professional. Garage area is cleaner now than it was before. Beware of high ratings on the Internet. The other electrical firm had a very high rating, yet, clearly dishonest and manipulative. I had a similar experience with a highly rated plumbing firm - project cost estimate was grossly overestimated relative to what was needed. Dishonest and high pressure. I called Hanseth and Richard visited to troubleshoot an exterior light which had stopped working. I was told by the office it would be $275 and I'd only pay if they fixed it. They scheduled an appointment for the next work day. I had changed the switch and done my own investigation. The hot wire was no longer hot and I assumed it was a problem with our 54 year old aluminum wiring. I wasn't comfortable doing more on my own. In 5 minutes Richard found a corroded connection under an original wire nut. They fixed the problem, checked the switch, made sure everything was grounded properly, reinstalled the light, and tested it. Richard also evaluated my breaker box and gave an estimate to replace it, but he said it was in surprisingly good condition. I'm very happy with choosing Hanseth Electric to help me out. I had an outdoor outlet that was not working and an indoor light switch that needed replacing. Claudia was very kind and professional as she took my info. For 'troubleshooting' I was quoted a $275.00 minimum for someone to come out. That may seem high at first but I was assured if need be, replacement parts were included so that was nice! Billy came out a few days later as it was the holidays and I couldn't get anyone sooner. No problem :-) Billy was on time, super nice and ultra professional. I have a little chihuahua that most strangers want to kill from but Billy was super sweet and understanding while the barking went on. I always mention this when I have the need for a professional to come to my home. It's very important that you feel comfortable inviting someone inside and I must say I felt ultra comfortable and confident with Billy being inside. He was so respectful and patient and replaced the interior of the outdoor outlet and indoor light switch in well under an hour. Total invoice came out to $300.00. Worth it in my opinion as electricity is no joke and with my luck if I tried to fix it myself I would have blown myself our the house up! I've used Hanseth's services twice now. Both times I hired them to install in-ceiling can lights. The first job required that all new wires be run in the ceiling. The second job required new wires for some lights and for others installation of retrofit LEDs. I also had them troubleshoot an issue with my QuietCool Whole House Fan. From scheduling the appointment through installation and service, Chad, Evan, and others were very easy to work with. They took the time to prep the work areas and, after completing the work, thoroughly cleaned-up. When planning the install of the new lights, Evan had an excellent understanding of the LED light size, distancing, and placement. Everything was templated and aligned with perfection. The lights were dimming throughout the house. Maybe wiring problems?? But, we also heard popping in the panel. It's an old townhome so it could be anything. We called several vendors including Hanseth Electric to come out and help diagnose the issue, provide an estimate and go over the project plan. I believe her name was Claudia, Chad came out, wrote up an estimate and had a great suggestion to consider pigtails in plugs and switches. I appreciate this sort of information and want to do right for our home. The company was busy so the project (to swap out the sub panel) was set to start 2 weeks. 2/16- Evan and Jeff came out to do the work. They informed me they didn't have the panel that was called for in the estimate. But, this panel will work it just has less space for additional breakers. I like to stick to a plan and let's be honest customers aren't necessarily wise enough to know ramifications of alterations. We trust the experts know what they are doing so we pressed on. The guys were clean, professional and quiet while doing their work. I appreciated their hard work and commitment. They stayed until 5:30pm doing testing and labeling the panel. Labeling the panel is very helpful, thank you. They were able to move the plug over closer to the door. This was a last min request by us so we weren't sure it would get done today. Prior to the move the dryer plug would get crushed against the wall.
