He responded immediately and came out the next day to review my situation (needed a new oven) and discuss what was necessary. My house is older with only a 125A service panel and Andre explained why it was undersized for my existing loads so we decided on an upgrade to 200A panel. Andre provided a quote the next day and, though I had some outstanding issues with getting the new oven which delayed our decision to proceed, he remained responsive until I accepted the quote and arranged the upgrade quickly. Andre took care of everything including all permits and inspections and completed the job quickly with everything getting inspected and bought off in two weeks with most of that time waiting for the city inspection. Had some breakers trip last night, and after toggling *all* breakers multiple times, some parts of the house are still out. Originally I thought the missing doorbell button was wired in and I could see no wires. Andre came out that day and called me back with options of how we could do the repair. He sent Pedro from Makena Electrical the next morning when I would be at the apartment unit. Pedro installed a battery door bell button, securing it with anchor bolts, and set it to the door bell transmitter. He also replaced 3 toggle switches with rocker ones. Makena Electric is the best. I would give them 10 Stars if that was available. I had to change from a Gas Wall Oven to an Electric Wall Oven. My relatively new Electric Panel did not have the required 40amp connection even though the previous electrician knew we were going to change at some point & supposedly did the wiring to the attic over the kitchen "which could be used for any new electric oven." Andre is amazing! He is very professional, prompt & courteous & explains in detail what needs to done. I cannot recommend Andre from Makena Electric highly enough. I work from home and blew out the breaker that my computer and all peripherals are plugged into. It also happened to be my busiest time of the month. Andre responded quickly and although he originally wasn't going to be able to come out until the following day, managed to squeeze me in at the end of what was probably already a long day for him. He arrived on time and treated me and approached the job like I was the only client he had that day. The price was more than reasonable and he took the time to show me what the issues were and how he was going to fix them. He also fixed some issues that we were having in a couple of the bedroom outlets while he was here. We interviewed quite a few electricians before we met Andre, the owner. Some didn't respond, some were late, some tried to upsell, and a few failed to follow-through with a quote. Andre was prompt, responsive, on-time, and on budget. Best of all, he and Pedro did quality work, always leaving the work area in as clean a condition as when they started. The first call was to install lighting above the garage doors, plus a flood light with motion sensor. This was not easy because the garage door opener rail mount occupied the space behind where the lights were to go. I still don't know how they did it, but as the photos show, they achieved my request. They also mounted lighting fixtures on the back of the house. There was cabinetry on the inside that made mounting and wiring a real challenge. Once again, they performed their magic. We were so pleased with their work that when it was time to have a Tesla wall charger mounted outside of the garage, we asked Andre for a quote. Tesla has a referral program for "certified" electricians, so I did submit requests, but not one could be bothered to respond. I'm so happy I found Andre on Yelp because I was looking for a licensed electrician to install my Tesla wall connector. I got a few bids from other electricians who have installed EV chargers and I felt like Andre was very knowledgable and he reassured me that installing a 50 amp sub panel to charge my car at a faster rate at home would not trip my breaker. The other electrician who came by for an estimate refused to install a sub panel and told me to charge at a lower amp, which means it would take longer to charge my car overnight... His price is very reasonable and the install was very clean. All the work was finished within 6 hours and Andre & Pedro cleaned up in a timely manner. I was really stressed with having to find a trustworthy and reliable electrician to handle my problem. My mom is usually the one that looks for an electrician but she's currently out of the country and the last thing I would want to do is make her worry.
