We worked with the great staff of the internet department. Hitting a deer had totaled my wife's beloved Prius. After lots of research we settled on the Subaru Forester and paid a visit. I believe it was Don we sat down with after a thorough, unrushed test drive. He spent probably 90 minutes with us trying to find us a car. Due to popularity they're in very short supply. After all that and pulling every string he had, he just couldn't find us a Forester any time soon, so we had to leave with no car. MY POINT IS, they worked really hard to try to take care of us, very competent and friendly, so we left as very satisfied non-customers, and they were friendly and fine with that. We'll be back for service in the near future. A little note about the car we did manage to buy in Vancouver, WA: we were nearly hit twice just driving the brand new car home; The Forester's avoidance features kicked in and brought us to a dead stop before an otherwise unavoidable collision in one case; and stopped us from switching lanes into some moron blasting past us on the right side on the I-5 to 101 North curving merge in Olympia. Car buying, for me, has never been a stress free venture. Making a big purchase takes a lot of thought and planning and adding to that, predatory salesmen who want to bank on as much profit as possible. This time through, I knew my credit score, what cars I could afford and what I should be paying for them, in addition to researching dealer financials like "depreciation" and "money factor" and "DAP's"(Dealer added profit). Going to various car lots over the course of the month, I narrowed my choice down to 3 cars, with Hanson's Subaru being my last stop, I was engaged by salesman Jim H., who impressed me with his knowledge and passion of Subaru vehicles. Particularly after dealing with salesmen on other lots who could not tell me about features and trims without looking it up somewhere. Jim not only talked like he knew his product intimately, but he also came off like a true blue fan of the brand. I am a fan of the WRX in particular but before visiting the lot, I really no clue about what a great car the Impreza itself is as well and I was thoroughly convinced after my test drive that this was the car for me. After my initial test drive, I did some more research on what I could expect to pay and came back in to what is usually the most stressful part, the paperwork. I was expecting like with most dealerships I have dealt with there would be all kinds of bs talk and hidden numbers. I instead was pleasantly surprised when Jim landed on a price that was about a couple hundred dollars different than the dollar amount I was expecting, with my monthly payments also being only a few dollars off from what I had done the math on. The dealership was also very patient with my stepdad, who was being grumpy due to his back hurting. No BS, it was the smoothest vehicle purchase I have made. In fact, it was so smooth, I was expecting for days for someone to jump out of the proverbial closet and yell "just kidding!" No hidden costs on the paperwork, only a mistake with the mileage that was easily corrected, and the finance manager (Penny?) was very helpful and answered all my questions to my satisfaction. I recently had my 20 year old Outback serviced here. I usually go to my independent mechanic, but I needed a new key fob. Most folks know that dealer service is usually 20-40% more than the same service at an independent shop. This dealer is no exception. They initially charged me $185 + tax to trouble shoot and reprogram my old key fob. Within a week or so after pick up, it clearly was not fixed. Went back and they said you need a new fob. Seems they could have figured that out the first go around. The cost for a new fob and programing was 296+ tax. So total cost for service and new programmed fob for me was over $500. The service rep could not understand why I was upset with this bill. They never apologized for not getting it right in the first place. Beware of their inflated labor costs, and lack of understanding that customers won't be happy to pay for a service that does not fix the problem. read more

Worst place ever. I was ripped off 10k on my purchase price due to sales writing up the paperwork wrong. On delivery was charged extra, but they cleared that up at least. First week driving it, an almost $50k vehicle, it starts shaking down the road. Took it in and they treated me like a stupid woman and asked if I've ever driven this car before. Due to not being able to "replicate" the issue, they told me to come back if I it "comes" back. It came back because it never left and I brought it back with added issues of randomly not turning on and a weird grinding noise. They had my vehicle for three days before telling me they were getting to my vehicle. After a 5 min test drive, they couldn't replicate the issue and sent it home to drive my family in it. The manager offered to give me a "fair" price on a trade in for it due to all these problems. He offered me a Forester at full retail price, nothing traded in, for exchanging a loaded Ascent. I'd already paid 25k on the Ascent. Now there are two recalls on it, one for the crap transmission and one for electrical problems. Seems to me they don't care about their customers who have real problems. I recommend to Subaru America to look into thIs dealership and the way it's operating, because it's left me with an extremely bad taste for Subaru. I want nothing to do with this vehicle now and I'm stuck with a lemon from the manufacturer. read more

I had one of the worst experiences of my life where they took my car, ignored my calls for 2 weeks, then tried to charge me for the rental car for the 2 weeks that they ignored me, before giving me a hand written quote that said that a lot of things were wrong with my car (timing belt, transmission etc) that were not , and missed the things that actually were wrong with my car(power steering leak, failing ball joint etc) . I had conversations on the phone with them that they told me I made up with employees that don't exist. Unfortunately for them, I wasn't alone for those conversations. I also have screenshots of multiple texts from the lady in the service department that was trying to scam me, at the same time that they kept telling me that she was too busy to talk to me. After going to 4 other mechanics, I ended up paying over $2000 elsewhere and got my car completely fixed. If I had gone with the handwritten quote that Subaru gave me, I would be out $1500 and have none of my problems in my car fixed. I filed a complaint with corporate who apologized for the experience and gave me a sizable voucher. That is nice, but I doubt it's going to stop these people from trying this on someone else. If I trust them with my car again then it will be at the Subaru in Tacoma. Subaru is a nice company and this dealership does not align with their ideals or beliefs in the slightest. Just standing in the waiting room waiting to get my keys I met 3 other customers who said that they had their cars for far too long and and were upset with the customer service. I waited to post this as the first 60 days of ownership tell all. I drove 12 autos recommended by car and driver, going to 6 dealerships and talking with 10. All but one were really nice, but Hanson stood out from the crowd. Friendly, helpful and easy to deal with I was pleased to not have any surprises. I bought my new 1st Subaru from them after a 40 year run of driving Fords. I LOVE IT! They even gave me 30 days to return it - what? There was no pressure, only a concern to help me get the car and features I wanted. When I found what I wanted but the color wasn't exactly what I wanted they had one brought in. I think if I hadn't loved it immediately they'd have found me another. The finance department was easy and quick as well, and when the plates arrived I had another surprise. A $25 gift card and a person to go over the car features again and answer questions. No finding cool stuff 6 months after purchase (and this car has some cool features). I returned for a trailer hitch install and was more than pleased with the service department. Did you know they check alignment every time your in? No charge? I love these people. I should mention they and Subaru have filled up several times with new surprises and care about my experience and if my car is performing. Resounding Thank you and Yes! We bought a brand new Kia Telluride which I love but I should have read the reviews online and looked at other Kia dealerships. Worst financing experience ever. They basically just lied and sent us to the finance office to sign papers. We refinanced through a credit union, so corrected that on our own. Next went in for the first oil change and no one knew what oil went in the car or how often anything should be done. I had the oil change done they finally recommended which was 130.00 after a 10.00 discount. Next oil change went to Kia of Puyallup and the service was spectacular. They knew all the ins and outs and same oil change was 54.00 for everything the same they did in Olympia. If I would have bought in Puyallup they offer free oil changes for life. This rating is for their parts department. I took my 2019 Forester for it's 12000 oil change. It also needed a cabin air filter. When I asked how much for them to install it they said $36.00. After looking at YouTube I decided to save myself the money and do it myself. They sold me a filter but it was the wrong one. I have to drive 30 miles one way. This is the second time where I ordered a part (front plastic covering where the fog lights go) that I did not get satisfaction. We scheduled our Forester for the brake light factory recall for brake. They told us it would take 30 minutes to 60 minutes to complete. We made the appointment for 11:00 AM.  Upon arriving the check in service staff said our car would be done about 5:30 in the afternoon. The service staff were rude and said there were other cars ahead of mine. We rescheduled our appointment for 8:00 AM a couple of weeks later based on the advice of the Service Manger. She stated that our repair would be first because they opened at 8:00 AM. Upon arrival, after a 2 hour drive, the Service Manger said there were other cars ahead of ours and our car should be done by 11:00 AM. I cannot believe that a service department is actually run in this fashion. When I make an appointment for our other car (not a Subaru), work usually begins within 10 to 15 minutes from our scheduled appointment. From now on we will schedule our service appointments with another Subaru service, and also our purchase How can you trust a dealer with safety and service issues when they respond like this? read more

Went in to have my Subaru looked at that I purchased from there. I hit a curb and the steering wheel became misaligned. It was slightly tilted even though the wheels were completely straight. Heidi at service tells me that "something is wrong" (no shit), "the numbers are not right," and "there's nothing we can do here." She then proceeds to charge me $100 plus tax. 2 weeks later, I take my car in (which had no issue driving) to a shop that specializes in suspension. They tell me that there was no physical issue with the hit, but the steering needed to be aligned which was an easy $40 fix, but was something REQUIRED BY THE MANUFACTURER to fix before sending a customer home. They basically have no intention of helping you or the problems, she should have seen the problem (mainly because I told her), and fixed like she was required by Subaru or at least have the courtesy of not charging me for not doing her job. I called her back to talk about what happened, but she practically cussed me out. Don't waste your hard-earned dollar paying for the salary of people that don't deserve to be paid. read more

I had to deal with a voluntary repossession with this dealership, after talking with four people that passed me off and that were unhelpful after being told to turn my vehicle into the dealership, I finally got a hold of someone from finance that told me to drop it off, I dropped it off and then I was again blown off by three different people, that made me feel like they didn't want to give me any customer service let alone good customer service. In my opinion good customer service is when you help your customers during any customer service interaction, they told me they could buy and sell the car so that I wouldn't have to do an auction through repossession, but then I was told they could not honor that. After emailing Rob Little, he was very unhelpful and made me feel ostracized. I expect better for companies that work in America. I would recommend going to a different dealership, I've never had such a negative experience with a car dealership. read more

Terrible place to have work done on your vehicle. Only one person was willing to help me when the rest of the shop told me I was out of luck. Ordered a part a week prior, brought in at 12. After waiting in lobby they come to me at 4 and tell me they are just starting on trying to put it in and they need to spray rust remover to change it. So they tell me they need to keep it over night when I made it clear I needed my car first thing in the morning. Only response I got from the management was that "life is not perfect" and "stop swearing or leave", Scott was especially awful and how he is in charge of a department is beyond me. They were not going to give me a loaner until the desk attendant went above and beyond and called the owner to get me a rental from enterprise. Monica was amazing at all times and it is again baffling that she is the lowest on the totem pole while an awful person like Scott gets to sit in his office, tell angry customers not swear and surf the Internet all day, as was apparent from my couple visits. Monica almost salvaged this review for your company, however, I got home and noticed a huge zig zagging scratch in the paint on my rear passenger door that was not their prior... if you want to be treated rudely by management, waste hours of your time, still not have your car fixed then have it scratched up by their awful mechanics then bring your vehicle here. If not I urge anyone reading this to avoid this terrible shop like the plague. Update: just realized they also scratched a rim in the process of doing my brakes which was the only thing they were capable of doing that I brought it in for; clearly not well at all. If you cannot remove a rim without scratching it or the car you should not be in the automotive repair business. After meeting the "technician" who was working on my vehicle, who looked like a brain dead redneck high school dropout, this bs really doesn't surprise me but certainly adds to my extreme anger with this awful shop. Called them because my mechanic discovered I had something called Shift Shock, and I needed a software upgrade. They didn't have the machinery to do the upgrade, so I called the dealership to see if I could have it done there. They told me that I was wrong, my problem was NOT shift shock (over the phone diagnosis) and that I needed to bring it in which would be $104 to walk through the door and they would troubleshoot it. I found another shop that did the upgrades and told me "no problem, bring it in". $110 later (for the upgrade), and my problem is gone. In fact, my car runs much better. They seem to think their mechanic is a "know all", but obviously knows nothing. They just want your money. I use Madronna on Mudd Bay but the shop that I took it to for the upgrade was Terry's Automotive and they are equally as honest. We worked with Sly and Don on our car purchase. Both were very nice and very helpful. We had bought a car from Sly previously when he worked at another dealer so we knew he would be good. Everything was going smooth and fun... until Bruce the finance guy got involved. Everything was approved and ready all we needed to do was sign the papers. He was rude and extremely unpleasant. I pointed out typos on our drivers license numbers and address on out title application. Pretty important information to have correct I think. He was rude when I asked him if he wanted to reprint it before we signed it and he kept shortly saying it didn't matter. We asked questions about the options on the invoice before we signed and he kept saying I don't know, I don't have that stuff. When he tried to get us to sign documents that were not yet filled out, we declined and said we would come back when it was done. He just got more rude. Needless to say, I started researching other dealers in the area to get my car from. My husband wanted to give them one more chance since they were shipping my car in so he called the manager. Lee the manager apologized profusely and said he would personally handle our paperwork if we came back. We returned a couple hours later and signed. Sly was apologetic and Lee was very apologetic. My experience with buying a car from Hanson Subaru was less than satisfactory and an extremely stressful experience!! Where do I begin? A little over a week ago, I decided to go to Hanson's to check out their vehicles as I had been researching Subaru pricing and vehicles online, in search of an excellent used low mileage Outback, or possibly a new one. I went in and test drove a new Outback, and decided to give it some thought, while still researching pricing and options. On my way out, I noticed a used one, with fairly low miles that looked to be in quite good condition. It was dark outside by then and I was tired, I spoke with the other salesman in the lot, and he convinced me to come back in again and test drive it. I believe it was a Sunday I came back and test drove the used Outback, and checked it over thoroughly. I am a detail person and checked the exterior carefully and noted that the rear bumper had creased lines in the paint on left bumper side, and a few other noticeable scrapes on the right side bumper. I pointed these out to the salesperson, Tom, and he agreed that it had had some minor damage from some impact with something, causing the bumper to compress and retract leaving the lines or creases. There was evidence of a couple of small touched up areas there too. I checked it thoroughly, discussed with Tom, the salesman, and noted that this could not really be considered a car in "excellent" condition as their printed out Kelly Blue Book value indicated. I had already checked and run the Kelly Blue Book price for this model/year vehicle, and for a car in good condition (as most used) and it came valued at over $1000 less than they were saying it was valued at. We went inside to discuss pricing and answer my questions. I requested to see a report of the car inspection and any repairs they had done on the car, to meet their "high standards" of anything that they would even put on their lot. Anything that had any issues that were not minor that they would fix, would just be sent to auction, they assured me. I reviewed the inspection report, and saw that when the car had been traded in and gone thru inspection and minor repairs done, that a box had been checked indicating check engine light had been on, including codes for brakes, traction control, and cruise control. All that it indicated on report was that tech checked codes, reset and drove. I repeatedly asked what had actually caused those codes to go off, and what the tech did to fix it? Was there not some report of that? They assured me that nothing was wrong, that many things like a loose cap can cause the engine light and codes to go off, and that if there had been any problem, the check engine and codes would come back on immediately when driving again, and that it was sensitive like that, and had to have been something minor like a loose cap. I asked that they put that in writing, and /or have their tech recheck those things or do a diagnostic to reassure me that they were in fact fine, or provide me with the info showing what he had actually done to rectify it. They refused to provide any proof, said there was none, insisted that it was nothing, and would not put anything in writing that they were fine, nor bother to have it rechecked by a technician to reassure me. After discussing pricing, the finance guy or sales manager named Scott came out, and refused to budge much on price, despite the KKB value report I had in hand, and my pointing out that it was not in "excellent" condition, given the crease lines on bumper and also the scratches on the right bumper, and a few other things like worn floor mats, and worn driver seat as noted on inspection. While Tom was pleasant to deal with, Scott was far from it! He was bullying, rude and intimidating, and quite frankly insulting, and uncooperative, and refused to do anything for me for customer satisfaction, then tried to sell me an overpriced protection policy, to cover any issues this car might have, trying to convince me what a great deal he was giving me on it. I ended up leaving, without purchasing, stressed and tired from the experience, and it was getting late. The following day I got a phone call from Tom, salesman, saying he had spoken with a different manager, and they agreed to come down to a price we had discussed, that was still over what was the actual fair purchase price according to KBB. But I agreed to consider that, and could not come on Monday as I take care of a grandbaby a couple days a week. I said I may come in on Tuesday to discuss, but I repeated I was still concerned about the check engine light having been on at inspection, and would like, as good customer service, and resassurance, to provide me with something in writing showing those issues had been thoroughly checked out and found to be fine. I got another call on Tuesday, from Nate, another salesman, who wanted me to come in and talk about it, and do the deal, as it was Tom's day off. I came later in read more

Called and asked if i could make appt or just come in and have them get my stuck window up since was raining she says sure bring it in after noon when not so busy like many of other customers said I waited till person checking the vehicles in to finish with whatever she was doing explained the window wont roll up could they please just get it rolled up so i can at least lock it. This was 2pm on sat. So I waited an hour or so then got ride hmm ome to wait for her call as she said she would call. NO CALL there website says open till 7 pm I called at 6 to see what was up and they were closed so we drove there and sure as shit closed I need my car for a doctors appt monday morning so I will be there to pick up my vehicle whether they got window up or not and never be back!!!!!! Went to the Express lube on Saturday morning 12/19/20 no appointment necessary?? (RIGHT) Once I was greeted by the staff I was told I would have an hour and one half wait since they had two customers ahead of me that took the time to schedule an appointment. Not wanting to wait that amount of time for an oil change that should generally only take 30 minutes at the most, I choose to leave. I live in Montesano and it is a 63 mile round trip for me to this Dealership. (no worries is what it is) So, I came home got on the service scheduler through Hanson Motors web site and made myself an appointment for Monday morning12/21/20 @ 9:30 am for the Express Lube oil change. Monday morning I made my drive in not so pleasant weather conditions to Hansen Subaru for my oil change. I arrived 15 mins early to be greeted by the Service Agent, as I am sitting in the Express lube stall asking what I wanted? Really?? what would an individual think they may want when they have a vehicle sitting in the Express Lube line, Breakfast??? anyway, at that point I mentioned I had a 9:30 am appointment for an oil change only nothing else needed. I was then to my surprise the kid once again told me I was going to have to wait for an hour and one half for my oil change, I said REALLY? I scheduled an appointment for 9:30 am the kid said well "So did 2 other people" in amazement I said well sounds like you over booked yourself!! and I told him to forget it and backed out of the stall what's the reason to make an appointment if you are having to wait the same amount of time when you don't have an appointment?? for once again a service that should only take 30-45 min tops and that includes a smoke break for the Technician!! Needless to say after my 63 mile commute again to get a basic service done at Hansen Subaru I was once again forced to leave without an oil change. Came home and did the oil change myself $35 in parts and done in less than 30 minutes!! Special ordered a 2019 Forester Touring as they were just hitting the dealerships. During the wait for its build my wife and I opted for the Ascent Touring instead. Not a problem at Hanson. I bought 2019 Subaru with huge warranty on Friday. It's my first Subaru and I'm 68 years old. I came by today to get some help with some of the buttons and understand some of the features. Worst Subaru Service! I would give it cero stars if it would be possible. One month ago, I called service and asked about a specific set of tires. They said they had them. Two weeks ago I called again, asked about the tires, same price as I had been told with installation included and I made an appointment.Today I came at 10 am. At 11 am they told me they don't have those tires in stock. I asked to see my appointment order and it doesn't state type of tires. I had to purchase more expensive tires. Very poor customer service. I will NEVER purchase anything from HANSON SUBARU OLYMPIA again. read more

The Service Express center is a joke. They won't allow an appointment for an oil change I have been disappointed in my wait the past 3 times I've been in hoping they would improve the service. They guy working the desk did not seem to want to assist me and acted as if he hated his job and made no eye contact. I was told 1 hour wait time and waited nearly two hours at no point was there an apology. Not worth it, will be seeking elsewhere for services. read more
