Our family has purchased at least 6 vehicles from Capitol City Honda over the past 26 years. Honda makes a quality vehicle that if you take care of, will last a long time and has great resell value. We bought a 25 Pilot and a 26 CRV from them over the past 8 months and we are very happy with both vehicles so far. Greg was our salesperson and he was great. No nonsense, fair, friendly, and informative. The process both times was straight forward and as quick as can be. I appreciated the low interest rates and financing through Honda instead of my loan having to go through an unknown credit union or bank somewhere. What I really appreciate is that the finance person didn't use high pressure tactics to sell us extended warranties and was still kind after we said no. They also took care of transferring personalized plates to my new vehicle which I appreciated. The price to get vehicles fixed here are reallllly high, which seems to the be the case at any dealership but overall, I really like Honda and trust them to take care of me and my vehicles. We had another fantastic experience with Capitol City Honda, this time with their service department. We had a tow package installed on our new Honda Pilot that we purchased from them just a few days earlier, and Troy made the whole process incredibly easy. Dropping the vehicle off was a breeze. Troy was friendly, organized, and made sure everything was clearly set up for the install. When we came back to pick it up, he took the time to walk us through the work that was done and showed us exactly where they secured the accessories and optional wiring harness. I really appreciated him taking those extra couple minutes so we knew exactly what we were looking at. The install itself looks perfect, just like it came straight from the factory. No shortcuts, clean work, and everything tucked away exactly how it should be. On 11/21/25, Friday, 830PM PST, my vehicle experienced a catastrophic engine failure while I was driving on the highway. I was able to get my vehicle towed to Capital City Honda the following day. When I arrived, I let a sales advisor know I'll need a loaner as my vehicle is completely un-drivable. The advisor talks with the service manager (Derek Gustafson) and says they can't accommodate a loaner for me and I won't be able to give me a loaner until Monday. He was giving ridiculous reasons like "if you had made an appointment, we could accommodate a loaner on the weekend". How do I make an appointment for a catastrophic engine failure? This is new vehicle (2024, less than 20k miles), that should not be having any failures like this. Providing alternative transportation when the vehicle requires repairs is part of the warranty, so they were essentially refusing to uphold their contractural agreement. I had to argue with this guy for 15 minutes before asking to speak directly to the service manager. Suddenly, he was able to get me a loaner. While filling out the paperwork for the loaner, the sales manager (Jeff Lohr) comes in and asks me about what happened with the car. I explain that I was driving and the check engine light came on and the engine started shuddering. He then he implies that this could be cause by "bad fuel" I put in the car and that if that's the case, it won't be covered under the warranty. Let's remember, this guy is a sales manager, not a mechanic, and no one has even looked at my vehicle yet or scanned the codes it was throwing. The audacity of this guy to suggest that a brand new vehicle malfunctioning was anyone's fault but Honda is mind-blowing to me. I will add that I had just recently had the car serviced two weeks prior at this exact location. This Honda dealer is the only dealer I've come across that won't do the standard, included maintenance on the car unless the Maintenance MInder light is on. Personally I do the maintenance every 6 months as 6 months has always been the standard and I haven't had any other issues with other Honda dealers in this regard. (I've been to 3 other Honda dealers in the PNW). This dealer ALWAYS gives me a hard time and says they're not going to do it unless the oil life is at 15%. Today, 2 week later, I just got my car back after being repaired for a major engine failure in which they had to replace the entire engine assembly on warranty. The ONLY person at this dealership who is not a complete jerk is Cody, my technician. He was so patient and answered all my questions about this major repair and never once talked down to me. Aside from Cody, everyone else at this dealership is so rude. I cannot believe how absolutely terrible the customer service is here. It has completely turned me off of ever buying a Honda in the future. Save yourself a major headache and go to the Tacoma dealership. I've had a much better experience there. read more

I went into Capitol city honda fully prepared. Knowing my car, my down payment was ready, pay stubs at arms length and title in hand. I was greeted the previous day by Nate the salesman as I was looking to test drive the Honda I fell in love with at my first glance. Everything went smoothly. The following day (Purchase day) I was greeted by Nate again. He was friendly, Funny, and all around not trying to upsell me until my head fell off but still was doing his best as a salesman. He answered almost every single question and was still able to help me get the best deal possible. There was only ONE question that I wasn't able to get answered. The reason I am leaving a 4 star review and not a 5 star review is because I had asked Nate about the SWAT package for anti-theft and vehicle recovery. Since the package is in itself a hefty price, I asked Nate if it would cover me for as long as I had the car without any monthly payment plan for said services (So a lifetime). He agreed, and said it was good for however long I have the car. I know that is probably expecting a lot from an anti-theft kind of package since everything is a subscription these days but I felt reassured by Nate about it. Skip to the final process, I met with the financial rep. I believe his name was Mickey, and he went through all the paperwork. My eyes fell upon the SWAT package and was a tiny bit disappointed to see it was only a 5 year plan. (5 years is how long supposedly the battery for the security unit lasts) If I would have known it was only 5 years I would have taken that package off my purchase and had still given them about the same amount the package would have cost, in things I was planning to add too my car (Blacked out logo, Spoiler, and blacked out wheel lug nuts). All in all I had a very stress free and actually efficient amount of time spent buying this car and would in fact recommend ANYONE looking to buy a Honda to stop in and be greeted the way I was and walk out with a brand new or used Honda. Warning, please read before going to this dealer. My husband and I bought a brand new Honda Odyssey in the fall of 2025. We paid cash for our vehicle and this was the first time we have ever been able to do that. After about a month of driving the vehicle, we noticed it was running rough and not shifting smoothly. My husband has worked on cars his whole life so of course he checks all the things you should check and notices oil leaking from the engine. We immediately took it back to Honda, and rightfully so we were pretty upset about the fact that we had a brand new vehicle only about a month in and it was already leaking oil. We were hoping that Honda could resolve it, they insisted that they attempt to fix it. They put an entire brand new motor in a brand new vehicle. After the brand new engine, it continued to run rough, it redlined me on the freeway with the transmission not shifting down, and then we noticed oil on our garage floor once again. We took it back into Capitol City Honda and they said that they "did not find a leak." We brought it home, my husband inspected it and once again there was oil under the car and on our garage floor. My husband at this point was very upset and at this point Capital City Honda basically just didn't want to deal with us anymore so they told him to never come back. My husband elevated the situation and sent in a request to have the oil changed as we are supposed to be going on a road trip this summer. He was told to take it to interstate Honda (as Capitol City told him to never come back). My husband went to interstate Honda and was met with the regional manager, Louise. The regional manager, Louise stated that there was "seepage of oil", what is the difference between seepage and leakage? My husband called him out on this and said so it's leaking oil, instantly the regional manager got visibly upset with him turn to his underwriter and stated to not document any report of the seepage or leak. He falsified our service report document. He lied on a document and literally said it right in front of my husband's face. The regional manager then went on to say "never come back to any of MY dealerships." Unfortunately, now my husband and I are left without our money and we have a brand new Honda vehicle that is still leaking oil and runs extremely rough. To say that we are upset would be an understatement. This has taken time away from our family, it has caused so much stress, we have been back and forth with the dealership,managers, regional, corporate etc. This should have never happened and Honda should have made this right from the very beginning as we had a brand new vehicle leaking oil. We are honestly taken back by the lack of honesty, integrity and poor business of this dealership. My husband and I just feel for the people out there who don't know much about mechanical issues and who would just probably let this go and then would end up in a year with a blown up motor or something. It was 6:30pm when I went to this dealership (30 minutes before they closed). I ended up finding the car I had been looking for and worked with salesman Tommy and manager Tyler to get it at an affordable price. Everyone here was extremely helpful and they stayed after hours to help me get into my new car. At other dealerships earlier in the day I was paired with pushy salesmen who talked down to me or acted like I was stupid, but here I didn't experience any of that. We bought a used Toyota, formerly owned by a rental agency. The financing process was a horror. It was much worse than buying a house and caused me to miss a very important meeting. Then, to top it off, once we got it home (after driving 1-1/2 hours) I discovered it only had one key fob. I called the salesman and he said that sometimes cars only come with one due to a chip shortage and that I could buy another one. When I checked that out, buying another one would cost as much as the so-called "discount" on the published price of the car. When I complained to Costco where i found the car online, upon investigating they were told that we were told, before buying it, that it only had one keyfob. LIE!!! So we still have only one key fob until we come up with the money to buy another as Capitol City refused to make it right (even tho' the still-packaged owners manual said it came with two key fobs). Love the car but would never ever have gone to Capitol City to buy it had I known this would happen. It wasn't the only used car in the area. My experience at Capitol City Honda started off frustrating and disappointing--but to their credit, they made a sincere effort to make things right, and I want to acknowledge that here. Initially, I traveled up to the dealership based on what I believed was a clear and promising deal. I had been quoted significantly lower pricing than with my local dealer and was told over the phone by a contact I was given at Capitol City Honda that they could give a significant discount--similar to what my mother had received through the Costco Auto Program. Unfortunately, when I arrived, the numbers didn't line up. The deal had changed, dealer add-ons were included without clear consent, and the tone of the interaction felt more like sales pressure than a helpful buying experience. At that point, I walked away with a car I didn't truly feel good about buying--and shared that disappointment in my original review. To their credit, Capitol City Honda reached out and listened to my concerns. While I'm still a bit bummed I wasn't able to get the original $5,500 off that was initially discussed, they helped me find a resolution that left me in a better place. I was able to walk away with the color I had originally wanted and a price that worked for me--especially given how tricky and stressful the whole situation had become. While I wish the process had gone smoother from the start, I do appreciate that the dealership ultimately took responsibility and worked with me to turn things around. That matters. This is your typical car dealership AFTER the deal is signed. My first Honda, I should have stayed with Toyota. There is no free oil changes or services for good drivers or low mileage! NO FREE oil change if your car has only 9,100 miles on it after 24 months. My car is here for its SECOND servicing and had the extended warranty for 2 years. Its 2 years OR the miles. If you hit 2 years you are DONE. My maintenance light went off. I set my appt and came in expecting my oil change and free carwash token (they send you to a coin wash) and sat to wait. Out comes the guy. Oil change $70!! Check brakes $200! Now he comes and wants to do an alignment for a car that has barely driven this city. I feel totally ripped iff and wish I had NEVER came to Honda, especially Capital City Honda. read more

Had my CR-V towed to Capital city Honda late at night. Got a call early the next day saying that they were trouble shooting the problem. Received a call back with the diagnosis and they immediately started to order a new small block and would keep in touch with me. They called a couple of times to let me know the progress and called when the engine was repaired. I live 20 miles from their dealership but Derek offered to come pick me up and take me to get my car. I feel he went above what was expected and everyone there was pleasant and courteous. Absolutely the worst car buying experience I've ever had. We were told by the salesman that Honda finance interest rates were 1.9 APR for a new vehicle and 2.9 for used, not even close. Thinking we heard him wrong, asked him again and they magically jumped up to 6.5 and 7.5 APR. When the process to purchase began we had told them we already had financing, they continually kept trying to ram their institutions down our throat with higher rates than we already had. Finally after telling them we're leaving they said they would send our paperwork to our institution and all we had to do was go pick up the check, lie number 10. When we arrived at our institution the entire process had to be started all over again. Unfortunately, we will never return to Capitol City Honda. read more

!!Update to add S. Tacoma Honda just sent me a real time video showing me the engine mounts are fine. So watch out,, they add repairs just to rack up your bill if you look like an easy target. Don't go here if you're a single woman who doesn't know about cars. Or if you want the doors on your car repaired. they won't listen, and they make pretty incredible repairs to stuff that isn't broken. Beware. Called and spoke with Aaron about my driver door on a mini van not closing. My appt was a week and a half later. On my way to drop it off to him, the passenger door also opened on I5, which I mentioned, and asked for it to be repaired also and inspect all around. 1600$ later one door is fixed, and Aaron calls to ask if I noticed the passenger door was broken too? For only $900 MORE dollars they could fix the whole issue I brought the car in with. He didn't bother to assess the issue when I asked him to because he was concerned I couldn't afford the cost, but sent me a $6000 estimate telling me all my motor mounts needed immediate replacement. They didn't wash, or vacuum anything. I never received an actual phone call with an eta, or any information. I got a text, and I had to call them for information. Everyone I spoke to after the initial phone call to make a service appt was abrupt, distracted, and rude.. and this was before I told them to put everything back and to do no more work on my vehicle. I purchased my vehicle brand new at this location in 2020. A few weeks ago, a leak in a tire lead to a replacement costing additional money. Today I got a call stating the tire (a different tire) I asked to be looked at had a leak that could be repaired. When I told them I purchased the vehicle brand new there, I was told there would be no charge. I got another call shortly afterwards that the tires was messed up on the inside and needed to be replaced along with the other back tire "so it could be aligned" for over $300.00 - quite a coincidence to me. I asked for my old tires; my intent is yo verify the serial numbers and get them checked. This was a frustrating situation, however the service center rep guy was exceptionally nice and responsive to me expressing my malcontent and rebuttal to their assumed cause. The worst part is I was at the point of considering buying a 2022 Honda from them for myself - I will consider another brand first. Had my oil change all set for the same day I walked out from my recall and went to my go to reliable car place I have trusted for 20 years with my car. This is my first public complaint concerning Capital City Honda, although I have complained to the service manager previously in the past. I have a very busy and hectic schedule that doesn't give me a lot of opportunities to meet the normal business hours of the dealership, so I have been pushing the limits of my maintenance schedule hoping I could find some time to get my car in and out. The limits are pushed because I work in downtown Seattle, but live in Olympia. Also, my job requires me to travel to various parts of Western Washington where I do not have a lot of time. Well, today I have the opportunty and rushed to the Used Car dealership where they have the express oil changes, but was told they only do them Tues through Sat, but was directed to go to the main service department and they will take care of me. Well, that's exactly what I did, but that was not the outcome. As I pulled in and stopped, I was approached by one of the service advisors and I explained that I was there to get an oil change, and she asked if I had an appointment, I said, "no', and she said they do not do oil changes without an appointment. I tried to explain, that I was sent over by the Used Car Manager, because they do not offier the express oil changes on Mondays. She then said that statement again, "I'm sorry (which she wasn't), if you don't have an appointment we can't service your vehicle. She could careless, what the circumstances were, and basically, if you don't have an appointment you are "out of luck." It not like the place was busy, they were just standing around talking to one another. Me driving up without an appointment disrupted their social discussion. I guess, what bothered me was...you have this young kid who is basically out of high school, and incapable of thinking outside of the box when it comes to customer service. The rules are... I just backed out of the bay and took my business to another location where they seeemed to value their customers. The service rep could careless, its not her business, she isn't losing any money, and she can go back to just talking to her co-workers and wait for the next vicitim who shows up without a scheduled appointment. As I said in the beginning, this is not my first complaint about their service department, but it is my first time posting about the dealership online. I do not think if one of the employees Famiuly Members were to arrive without an appointment they would have been handled in the same manner. I am looking for other reputable places to take my vehicle for servicing and future car purchases because I do not think this place really values the customers business. read more

This is for the service dept - Big props to Ashley and the Service team. I took my 2000 Honda-rati here (OK, it's a 120hp Civic with 207,000 miles) for an oil change and to get the head light bulbs changed (one was burned out). The service was performed on time and on price as advised when I checked in with Ashley. They did a very nice job of interior vacuum too. Ashley could not have been more professional and courtious. One little minus (a pet peeve of mine) - when you drive a customer's car in an out of service LEAVE THE SEAT POSITION ALONE!. This is not just a Capital City complaint but to most I've dealt with. There is nothing like getting back into your just serviced car and banging your knees on the steering column, only to spend 20 minutes getting the seat back to your favorite position. read more

My battery light came on on my Honda Pilot.I Called The dealer and could drop the car off right away. After a few days. They send me a report saying what all was urgent to be fixed .I checked and it came upto 5000 dollar of repairs.all where added to the urgent list and they didn't even check if it was needed. Then aswell the alternator was broken and needed replacement according to them. They estimated about 1000 dollars so we wanted to bring the car to another repair shop because they would do it for cheaper. Uppon bringing it to another repair shop and different diagnostic there was nothing wrong with the alternator!! I feel they needed to meet a quota and just put things on the list to make money. It feels totally unreliable and untrustworthy and I just want to say be aware of the dishonesty. Not used to that from any Honda dealer I will not go there again. read more

Went to look at a new Honda CR-V & hybrid comparing to our original choice, a new Ford Escape hybrid. Being educated consumers we were comparing deals and quality of brand in person after doing our own online research. There was no bad choice here with either. We had a very nice low mileage 2019 Jeep to trade. Jessi the sales manager wanted to steal our trade by not only not giving us what KBB said it was worth, ($16700-$18900) but $1000 less and additionally charging $1650 to "detail" it. Certainly would not cost that for them to send thru their own detail department, effectively putting a huge amount of profit back into their end, offering us only $15,017 towards the CRV, not even the Hybrid and loan at 4.9% and trying to make it sound so good by explaining it as with the tax benefit we were getting $17,000. ***That effectively kinked the deal for us. We went back to our original choice at Mullinax Ford who had offered the $17000 and no such reconditioning wash and wax deduction against our trade. Much friendlier people to deal with was Austin and Brian with more features in the Escape Hybrid with Zero, yes $0.00 percent financing for 5 years. The Honda salesperson Abe was fine and knowledgeable of his products. Jessi, Not so much. Being I had been in the sales end of business many years ago before retiring I let them them know, please no sales shenanigans with me today. It still took 2 hours to finally get a written on paper answer from Jessi on the desk. Nothing had changed with them and the car sales business the old way - dragging things out and less than forthcoming. I rate Capitol City Honda in Olympia a below average and not to do business with them unless you want to be fu**ed around with. P.S. They add a bunch of "extras" on the suv we did not want. I do not like talking negative about companies but CAPITOL CITY HONDA likes to sale cars that they know have problems without informing the potential buyers. Please be careful when doing business with this company. I bought a lexus about 3 weeks ago. On the drive home I noticed something was off. I took it back the next day and explained what was going on with the car and that I felt it was a transmission issue. They did a flush, even though it's a sealed transmission. They said it's all good to go. It wasn't . Took it back two days later. They said drop it off we'll send it to Toyota so they can look at it. Somewhere between Honda and Toyota my 60$ sunglasses were stolen as well as my phone charger... both denied having anything to do with it. They did another transmission flush and said I was good to go. It wasn't. I emailed a detailed messages to the general manager and was told they would follow up. They tell me I have to drive it to Lexus of Fife. Lexus tells me it needs a new transmission and also that there is documentation that it was already diagnosed as needing a new transmission and it was to be a wholesale car. Honda bought it and put it on the lot like nothing was wrong with it and just hoped to sell it to a sucker. Finally after weeks of back and forth Honda decided to unwind the deal because they didn't want to pay 9k for a new transmission. So I took it back about a week ago.. Now it's on the lot again just a few short days after they didn't want to put a transmission in it, and it's for sale at top dollar. THESE PEOPLE ARE SHADY ! DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE !! Capitol City Honda wasted my time and theirs by not offering to sell their vehicles for the prices they advertised. What a relief I didn't buy the Honda; I got a nice vehicle instead and didn't have to go back to this dealership. Capitol City Honda publishes prices they will not honor. None of the new cars on their lot were available for the price published on Capitol City Honda's own website because they all included the "CCH Protection Package," a $1,395 non-option. The dealer said they are not required to advertise those extra costs. Who cares if sleazy is legal, it's Capitol City Honda's game right now. Capitol City Honda claimed that vehicles on their lot included added equipment that buyers can neither remove those, nor know about those costs until they're on site. This "added equipment" included (a) items shown in the advertised photos such as mud flaps and (b) items that do not exist such as paint protection. I sought an individual vehicle with a specific advertised price, but they would only sell it for $1,395 more than their advertised price on the basis of these add-ons. Yet, they were not going to add anything beyond what was shown in the advertised listing, and they were not going to honor their advertised price. Using false pricing to draw customers in probably gets Capitol City Honda a lot of business from buyers who don't have time to keep searching. That approach won't get my business. read more

I just wanted customers to be aware that my engine in my 2016 CRV blew in May of this year. I had it towed to Capitol City Honda, where I purchased the car brand new. They quoted me $12,500 for a used engine (engine and installation and extra parts) and to replace my rear brakes. My mileage was 62,700 and was less than six months over the warranty. They have no interest in helping me out and to top it off they said I needed rear brake which was a downright lie as I had them checked out and they are still good. So, I ended up getting my engine installed and bought for $2,500 by a reputable service company. Just be aware when buying/servicing a car from Capital City Honda, you might want to double check your bill and make sure they're not charging you for work that doesn't need done! read more

Have used this dealership for the last few years without an issue. In fact I have called the GM and Service Manger to pass compliments about the service staff. Even went there this past Saturday to purchase a Honda CRV Touring Hybrid - that all changed today! Our 2014 Civic has started to intermittently "Air Bag System Failure" so I called to make a service appointment. Was connected to a "Hillary" (sp) who, when I explained my situation, said "That's normal to have the airbag light on then no one is sitting in the passenger seat". When I tried to explain that it was a critical error message she asked if it was a "yellow indicator" I said yes and she told me it was the tire indicator. Trying to explain what it was she cut me off and said that was it and I shouldn't worry. At 60 y/o I think I am intelligent and experienced enough to know what I read and what it means. Disconnected the call, called back and asked for the service manager, but was hung up on. Called back and told the next operator what had happened and she attempted to transfer me x 3 without success. She finally said there were having issues with the phone service and took an 'old fashioned' (my words) message for the service manager to call. Still waiting 4 hours later. Not sure if it's COVID-19 that has made this place so TERRIBLE but I am done trying to do business with them. My car came out of their service center shop with severe windshield damaged. Not sure who Darren is but, he returned my call, claimed no responsibility for it and hung up in face. Needless to say, I'll be taking them to small clcourt. Customer service here is really bad, borderline abusive. Would not recommend this location. They get 1 star for completing the service repair otherwise, they are a -1 star. 6/11/2020 Update Dale Cooper is great! He called me and offered to pay for my windshield. I actually just got the new one installed, it was already paid for when I arrived to my appointment. Thank you very much Dale! read more

I've been getting service there for years because there is no place closer. But that's about to change. I'm going to investigate the Honda dealership in Lakewood because Capitol City Honda has never responded to any of the letters that I have sent complaining about the poor service that I have received. Most recently I was charged $75 for a brake inspection that I didn't need because I asked them to put in brakes, not inspect them. When I complained about it I got nowhere. I dropped my car off early this morning and I've been waiting all day for simple service. Had to call to find out what the status is and they said maybe at 4:30 they would call me back. I honestly don't understand how some of these people got their jobs. And beware of their Xpress service, as they will not complete the full safety inspection of your vehicle. read more
