I had bookmarked Hanson's to repair a dent I made in my Acura myself trying to back out of a very long driveway but took the plunge after being rear ended. The quote that Hanson's gave me for the previous dent was so low I had them fix that, too. The car looks like new and it was a very quick and painless experience. I have a 2007 Mercedes C230 and I was looking around for an auto body repair shop for some very minor lower bumper work, snagged the lower bumper on a parking curb and it ripped the passenger side portion loose, nothing structural, just cosmetic. I came across Hanson's Auto Body Repair because of their great reviews and I take my car for service at the shops on Rollins road as well and have had good service in the area. At first I was skeptical how good can the service could be because I always here of bad stories and especially with a German car. With my previous BMW, another shop tried to cut corners and I had horrible results with the finish product as well as waiting forever for parts to come in. It always seems like a part needs to be ordered from Germany or at least that what shops tell you. At Hanson's I didn't get any of those excuses and they were straight up with me. Other shops were mentioning that I needed to replace the whole bumper, but that clearly wasn't the case, the other shops just wanted to make me buy a new bumper and charge me an arm and a leg. Hanson's was professional and new exactly what they were doing, they quoted me an awesome fair price and stayed under their estimate. They did my repair within a day and washed my car. The guy running the place is surly. If you have spare emotional capacity to deal with him, he might be ok if he actually did what he said he would for the price he quotes you. My experience was that he made me a very reasonable quote, but told me he did not have time to work on the car for a few weeks. I waited for him and even confirmed our agreed upon drop-off time several days in advance. When I showed up, he said he did not have a record of our appointment. Several hours later the company called me at work to tell me that it would cost 50% more than they had originally quoted me for no additional work. Given that I already adjusted my schedule to accommodate the repairs and was busy at work, I reluctantly agreed. When I then asked to confirm the pick up date, they said it would now be taking an additional several days. Ultimately, instead of three days as originally quoted, it took nine days. When I picked it up, there was still a ding on my bumper that the guy said he would repair as part of the major repairs. - Charged 50% more than the quote - Took more than double the quoted time - Didn't complete all the agreed upon work This was the typical nightmare scenario one hopes to avoid. read more

I was parked in downtown oakland and got my window smashed so I contacted my insurance and they sent me a list of places to get my car fixed. I picked Hanson's because it had the highest rating. I contacted Peter and that day he ordered the part (came the next day), then he got the window tinted and called me when I was able to bring my car in. When I brought my car in I waited about 20 minutes and my car was ready. Called on monday and was fixed by thursday. Easy drop off and Peter delivered the car for me after storing it for several days while I was out of town! He even had it cleaned! We were referred to Pete by our trusted mechanic, Nick's Honda, so immediately we were confident about the service we would receive. The passenger side panel of my Acura MDX was misaligned so I couldn't close the door properly. Before going to Pete, we were totally expecting 1000+ estimate. I brought my car in before they were going to close the door for the day. Pete took a look at the car and told me it was minor and wouldn't take more than an hour to fix it. He escorted me to his office and I had a great conversation with his wife while we were going through the paperwork. 20 minutes later, everything was done. I never thought I'd be compelled to write a positive review for an autobody shop, but we've really been blown away by the service at Hanson's. We've used them a number of times, and the price is always honest and fair and the workmanship is top notch. A couple years ago, our minivan got banged up and so we dropped it off to get repaired. After dropping off the car, we had an unexpected medical situation that put my wife in the hospital. When Peter and Lisa heard about it, they wouldn't accept any payment for their work.They said we had enough to worry about. We were bowled over. More recently, I punched a hole in the back of my Audi (don't ask). I got a few quotes from different local shops that ranged from $1,000 to $3,500. Hanson's was the lowest quote and the clearest about the cost breakdown. But then Peter actually offered another option for half the price to fix the damage (as oppose to replace the entire part). I was skeptical that they could make it look like new, but went ahead. Well, I just picked up the car and it literally looks perfect. Can't even tell that any damage was done - AND they cleaned up a few other nicks on the car while they were at it, along with washing and vacuuming my car before returning it. I took my Honda civics for a repair on my passenger side and left front fender caused by an accident. They order the parts and call me in to drop the car for the repair. They did an awesome job. The match the paint to the whole car plus the glossy over coat made it looks like a brand new car. I am with State Farm as my insurance and the paper work was a breeze. Absolute best car service I have ever received! I ran over a parking meridian and tore the bottom plastic liner of my fender off. I took the car to 3 places for quotes, Hanson's was to the point and about 4x less expensive than the others! I was supposed to bring my car in the next day, but got overloaded at work, I called the following day and they gladly had me in right away to repair the car! As the previous post said, if I could give Peter at Hansons more than 5 stars, I would. I have been taking my vehicles to Hansons since the late 1980's. Peter is one amazing guy. He is trustworthy, communicative, and honest. He will never steer you wrong. He is great with working with insurance companies. A few years ago, one of my back windows was shattered from a ricocheted rock while driving on the freeway. Initially CSAA only approved an aftermarket replacment window for my Lexus SUV. Peter fought the battle for me and they approved a OEM window. Same was done for my windshield. Peter always goes the extra miles, no matter how busy he is. And believe this is one busy shop. They do not hurt for business. But the integrity they show, no matter the value of a job, everyone is treated with the same respect. His rates are reasonably. In fact, so competitive on market rates, but you end up with top of line work. Peter has worked on all our vehicle, Audi's, Lexus' Mercedes Benz and our children's Suburu's And now that my husband has a Porsche, I will guarantee, Peter will be the ONLY ONE my husband will allow to work on his car. Over the past 15 years I have brought 3 different cars into Hanson's for a variety of repairs. One car had been hit in a parking lot, one needed a taillight fixed and a side mirror replaced ect. All of my cars were fixed perfectly and in a timely manner. When I needed a rental car provided to me to drive while Hanson's was repairing mine, they went above and beyond to facilitate my loaner car for me. The last time I brought my car into Hanson's was on December 18th, 2014. As busy and as hectic as Hanson's was over the week before Christmas, I was treated to exceptional customer service by Peter the owner, and his wife Leeza who runs the front office. They could not have been more personable and professional to me. All I needed done was to have a driver side mirror unit replaced on my vehicle. However, I was treated as if my car was needing full collision repair. Peter would take the time to personally call me to keep me updated on the status of the repairs while they had my car in the shop. Peter also called me after the car was returned to me to make sure I was happy with the work that had been completed. No matter what I have needed done by Hanson's in the way of vehicle repairs, the outcomes have always been the same. I am fully satisfied with the work that is done and always given the utmost exceptional and personable customer service. I may have to revise this rating, but I have a tough time giving 5 stars to anyone. We use Pete for everything, like periodic fixes to the low air dam sports car and Whoops! certain family members accumulate over time. Been using him for probably a decade. But they're not perfect. For example, after about 10 days for a 1 week job, I called and asked about they car and he said "it's ready!". Dunno why he didn't call me first, but no biggie. When I got the car, there were some paint mars on the trunk he was supposed to fix, but hadn't. Had to wait 10 mins for some rubbing compound and polishing to be done, but no biggie. I can't recall anything else wrong over the time; certainly anything major has had the paint matched, the wires properly attached, the pieces tightened, etc. etc. Prices are great; I'll keep using him.
