    Glove in the potstickers

Came here and order two orders of a dozen potstickers. I ordered pick up thru DoorDash and I came in under 20 mins of ordering and the lady working the counter was rude and said you ordered a long time ago. Finished most of the food before noticing there was part of a glove sticking out of one of the potstickers. Disgusting- will not be returning

Me and my friend were walking around and ended up here. Unfortunately, I was doing meatless May, so I ordered the vegetarian dumpling soup and my friend ordered beef dumplings. Since then, I have returned to try the beef dumplings...and they are probably the best I have ever taste! The dipping sauce is the star of the show! The service was friendly, as you order, take a number and sit down while they cook it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is sub par, in fact it's best to come as a late night snack or order to go.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But the food was good! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance will get better in time, as they generate more revenue![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Fast, friendly, and super yummy! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great place for a fast casual lunch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Tried both the pork and beef (preferred the pork) and they were so good! They come out fast and hot! And the sauces were great too!

    Spicy Pork Dumpling Soup
    Amy K.

Came here for lunch in downtown Sacramento. I ordered the spicy dumpling pork soup with 10 dumplings. This was so delicious!!! The spicy level was 6/10. Definitely not for the timid; I can handle spicy level 7 comfortably. The broth was similar to pork tonkatsu. This really hit the spot and made me really happy. Food was made fresh at peak lunch hour and took about 15 minutes. I'll be back when I'm in town.

Glad to see dumplings are alive and well in Sacramento. I've had the pleasure of eating at this location as well as the South Sacramento location over the years, and I've never been let down. I won't lie, dumpling places aren't always on my radar when I want to eat out, but Hao Bao is probably one of the only dumpling spots I actually crave. Today I shared a modest order of 12 pan-fried veggie dumplings with house sauce and a scallion pancake. It was perfect: fast, filling, affordable, and one of the reasons this place has thrived on K Street all these years. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It can be a little warm in there, but they had a fan blowing at least.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Normally I'd go for pork dumplings, but the vegetable dumpling blew me away. The filling was shiitake and cabbage, surprisingly juicy and packed with flavor, and paired perfectly with the soy-vinegar-garlicky house sauce. Scallion pancakes are a personal favorite of mine, though I've been let down by them at other spots across the city. This was my first time trying them at Hao Bao, and honestly, it's probably the best one I've ever had. They nailed it: thin, crispy, yet still doughy and chewy, with perfectly flaky layers and scallions rolled right in. Man, what a treat. I could eat multiple orders. This place just ticks a lot of boxes for me and is the ideal place for a quick bite. The food comes out fast, it's very filling, the customer service is always great, and the prices are totally reasonable. I love this place and have for years. So glad to see they're still wrapping the best dumplings in Sacramento. One day, I'm getting that 120 piece dumpling tray for my birthday.

They were good dumplings but needed to be cooked more the dough was still too chewy and service was good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was fine since it was late at night a decent amount of young adults eating dinner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    House Chow Mein
    Jaane F.

We dined in and ordered the house chow mein and Beijing noodles. The chow mein had an overly strong wok hei flavor, and many of the chicken pieces were burnt, which made it disappointing. The Beijing noodles were still fine--flavorful and well-balanced. The staff was friendly, which we appreciated, but overall the experience was just so-so due to the inconsistency in food quality.

    Audriana N.

Nothing special. Very greasy. I had one of the noodle bowls. The noodles were very dense. Think: I took the outside of a potsticker, cut it into a noodle shape, then threw some dry meat on top. Not much to say about service, this is very much a takeout spot.

    Hao Bao Tacos
    Susan B.

Craved for some dumplings after a show in the area. Self service kiosk to place your order and then seat yourself. Food will be brought out by the staff. Food came out within 10 mins. I ordered Hao Bao Tacos, Pork Dumpling combo and added a side of teriyaki sauce. Tacos and dumplings were good but were lukewarm. I prefer them to be hotter. Teriyaki sauce was nothing special. House special sauce is the way to go. All the staff are in the kitchen so it will take a while to get assistance if you need any. They forgot my drink so I had to wait until someone came out to ask about it.

This is a pleasant surprise for downtown Sacramento. It's quality authentic Chinese food available at very late hours. The dumplings are made to order and can take some time to be prepared. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is small, but they package food well to-go if you want to walk it back to your hotel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is air conditioned but can't handle large groups.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The steamed pork dumplings are good and large enough to share between 2-3 people. I really liked their house dipping sauce, nice mix of sweet, savory and little bit of heat and spice.

The ribeye is cooked perfectly, green curry has a nice coconut sweetness to it. And the laotian sausage, paired with their sauce and sticky rice hits the spot. Both packed a good amount of heat at the spicy level, which we loved. The Lao sausage was also super flavorful, but as soon as you cut it, the inside does fall apart a bit. It's a personal preference to have a denser sausage. Service was also ok. We found ourselves needing to call over the waitress a couple times, since we were just sitting waiting to order or get a box and check at the end. Flavors are worth coming back for tho.

Appetizers were good especially the stuffed tofu roll and popcorn chicken. Meat was thin, fresh and flavorful. We tried the american waygu, beef belly and ribeye. The shrimp paste meatball is delicious but a little large. We were going to go with 4 stars for the location but the food and service more than makes up for it. We'll for sure be back.

We skipped the cheese since it's an additional $3 and honestly, I don't think we missed it. The LA galbi was a little dry and for $33, I expected the meat quality to be a little better. On my latest visit it was a very busy Sunday, but I was able to place an order for take-out and then wait in my car for the order to be ready. I ended up ordering the pork steamed rice noodle roll, the beef and cilantro steamed rice noodle roll, the garlic long beans, and the beef and mixed mushrooms. I saw a couple of other Elites dining in when I was ordering, but it was so busy I couldn't properly say hi, so "HI DAVID AND EVA!" I'll have to keep an eye out for their next review, because whatever they had looked delish! I waited in the car for a bit and then when the order still needed a few more minutes I popped into the dollar store next door to kill a bit more time. Before I knew it my order was ready to go. They packed everything really nicely and we served it up as soon as we got home. Their rice noodle rolls are so flavorful and I love the sweet, salty and savory sauce that comes with it. The noodles are really filling, and the dishes we got would be enough food for 2-4 people depending on how hungry you are. We ate the rice rolls right away and then had leftover green beans and beef and mushrooms for lunch today. The green beans were fresh and had a great garlic flavor, without it being too much. The Beef and Mushrooms was great, the beef was tender and flavorful and the mushrooms soaked up all the sauce. There were also green beans in this dish, which was a perfect addition. It didn't have that spicy tang that you look for when you order hot and sour soup. The potstickers were fried crispy, but the dough was a little too thick. The spicy cucumbers had no flavor to them at all. And the honey walnut shrimp was not memorable. We both felt that the two best dishes were the BBQ pork fried rice and the Mongolian beef. The beef was tender and had good flavor. The prices were extremely fair and the portions were large, but all in all this was not my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area.

Pipo Ramen and Rice…read more I've been wanting to try Pipo Ramen and Rice since 2023, when it was ranked #11 on Yelp's list of places to eat in the Sacramento area. I've driven past this spot countless times but somehow never made it in, until now! I stopped by on a Saturday before noon, and the restaurant was pretty quiet, with only a few tables occupied. The interior is modern, clean, and well kept, making it a nice spot for a casual meal. After looking over the menu, we decided on the Pad Thai with Shrimp (medium heat) and Panang Curry with Chicken (medium heat). While ordering, our server also recommended the Pipo Salad, essentially their take on papaya salad. They offer it Lao or Thai style, and we went with the Thai style with mild heat. Once the food came out, the first thing I noticed was the portion sizes, everything was much bigger than I expected, especially considering the reasonable prices. These are definitely portions that are easy to share family-style. The Pipo Salad had tons of flavor, and I really enjoyed being able to taste the vinegar and fish sauce. One thing to note, though: I ordered it mild, but this ended up being the spiciest dish on the table! I'd say the heat was closer to a medium, while the Pad Thai and curry were much milder. The Pad Thai was solid. The noodles were cooked perfectly, and the flavor was there. The Panang Curry was good, although I personally wished both the Pad Thai and curry had a little more heat. Luckily, our server brought out some condiments, including Thai pepper fish sauce, which was excellent with the curry and gave it the extra kick I was looking for. Overall, I'd definitely recommend giving Pipo Ramen and Rice a try. The portions are generous, the prices are reasonable, and there's a good variety of dishes I'm looking forward to exploring on my next visit. My only real complaint is that the spice levels seem a little inconsistent. I wanted my Pad Thai and curry to be spicier, but at the same time, I didn't want my mouth completely on fire. Hopefully I can find that perfect balance next time! Would I come back? Absolutely. I've still got plenty of the menu to work my way through!
