Wanted to try something new today so ordered the seaweed salad, the Bahn bao, and Shrimp and Pork Shumai. While the Shumai were good, the other stuff was awful. In fact, the wax paper was steamed into the bao. I had to peel it off to eat it and then part of the bao was peeled off too. Disappointing because I'm really looking for good bao here. read more

I'm not one to normally give reviews that aren't glowing but I had to say something. I stopped in and ordered a vermicelli bowl and kimchi salad and a milk tea with boba. The noodles were very soft and not at all like the chewy vermicelli noodles I'm used to. The pork was kinda overcooked and bland. I ended up throwing it out because it just wasn't good. The kimchi was fine but not anything that stood out. The milk tea was strange tasting and the boba was mushy. For $20+ I was pretty disappointed. read more

Open for only 5 months. There is one other sister restaurant in downtown Gresham. As I'm camping at my X wife's place down the road. And she's vegan. I'm ordering BIGGGGG so I have leftovers to keep me alive. Always start w the fresh salad rolls w peanut sauce. Shrimp & pork. Here thy offer a nice twist. Char Sui pork & shrimp. A really nice change. There are 2 more fresh roll options grilled lemon grass chicken & citrus salmon. Had to have the real wonton soup, shrimp pork shu mai, bbq pork, hum bao!! They have a fancy ice tea machine that gives u 3 choices. Also a soda fountain. Staff is in mask & gloves. Counter has plexiglass section. Bathroom was spotless clean one person use. Sitting area is bright & open. A very nice experience topped by the head chef a young Filipino man Alfred who has brot his influence to the restaurant with new innovative ideas. read more

So I'm on a semi truck and just got to WA right .. I'm stopping for the night at a local Walmart parking lot and can't find a place to eat at 22:30pm . Arby's would not serve me cus "im not driving through " with a car. I see Hap and a group of people are dining in.. I open the door and they tell me that they are closed but the owner decided to offer me some food to go. Let me tell you.. that was BOMB!! The ribs were so delicious! My wife and I saw this place had outdoor seating so we took the trip from Portland. They had one table outside which counts as outdoor seating I guess. We got shumai , wontons in chili oil, potstickers and clear noodle thing. The dim sum was like warm, no chili oil on wontons, no chili or soy sauce on tables and everything tasted terrible. was looking for a dim sum place w/ my friend and this was pretty much the only place nearby in Vancouver and we were not disappointed! they were super nice and quick service! i tried chicken dumplings and the pandan waffle and they were GREAT. great texture and taste. made with love! i wish i got more! the dumplings and sauce reminded me of Din Tai Fung, but these are a much better price and convenient, especially late at night. loved the ambiance at night too, such nice ~MOOD LIGHTING~ and it was a comfortable atmosphere. also they gave us 7 dumplings instead of 6.. enough said. that alone is enough for me to give five stars. mwah. so awesome! read more

At first I wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt, but this place just has awful service. You walk up to the register and order, versus pointing at dim sum you like as you're eating. The dishes are very two dimensional. I will say the only thing delicious and Taiwanese tasting is the sauce (nice and spicy). Otherwise, Vietnamese dishes don't taste like authentic Vietnamese, and Chinese dishes don't taste like authentic Chinese. They taste Americanized and eating off of plastics definitely destroy any ambiance. Plastics were ok during the pandemic, but by 2023 and all masks are off even in healthcare facilities, anyplace still serving food off of plastics is just cheap and lazy like McDonald's. read more

We really wanted to like this place as our regular dim sum restaurant has permanently closed due to COVID. Unfortunately this just wasn't good, every item we ordered was cold and the service was slow even though it was just us and another couple. Their milk tea was good but definitely not traditional and extremely sweet. They also didn't add very much boba for it being an additional cost. The staff was nice and the restaurant was clean, so I'll give them that. We more than likely won't be going here again. read more

Some hits and misses, mostly hits. I've had both their thai iced tea and berry smoothie, both were delicious and are highly recommended. On my first visit I had the crispy chicken dumplings, sticky rice dumplings, and pork buns. The pork buns had great flavor, but some of the pork was weirdly tough and hard to bite through. I hadn't had sticky rice dumplings before so I wasn't sure what to expect, but the filling was incredible, and they retained heat splendidly. The dumplings had great flavor, but I think baking them was a mistake. It's healthier, but it gave the wrapping a strange texture. Sauce was delightful. Second visit got steamed pork dumplings, meat pies, and the roasted pork belly. All three were amazing. The pork belly had incredible seasoning and flavor, the dumplings were soft and tender, and the meat pies were delightfully flaky. read more

I heard that this place opened right around the time the pandemic started, and we hope it will stay in the community, as I believe it is so important for this area to have diverse options for food. A couple of employees suggested Hap Steam for a catering event at work. We were extremely pleased with not only the amazing customer service they provided, but the variety of delicious food. Showed up as #1 for dim sum in Portland area to my amazement. Firstly, this isn't dim sum (not sure what it is). Quality is terrible. I've had food from here a few times for lunch (not my choice), and family has picked up dinner once (we were like, oh no, that's no good). Last lunch experience ordered orange chicken and shrimp/salad roll. I bit into salad roll and something was not right, smelled fishy and was off. Orange chicken might have been pork, it was delivered and was pretty mushy, give them a pass on that, but it didn't taste anything like orange chicken. So glad we decided to come! My family decided to order dinner here after my boyfriend and I saw it while at work. We had 15 items on our order, some of them combos with several parts, and they didn't miss a thing! Everything came out at the appropriate temperature, and we got to see them making several dishes fresh. Anything the Char Siu touches is gold- the Banh Mi, the salad rolls, the rice bowl, it was all fantastic. I have no idea how the char siu rice bowl was so good, I was baffled. The meat is fatty and flavorful- don't worry about your sandwich or rice being dry haha. I was excited to try this Asian restaurant. I was the only customer and then two others came in after me and received their meals sooner. It seemed like each order was made and then sat on the counter while the next order was being prepared. The last item was a crispy won ton and it was extremely burned, I've never seen won ton burned before ever. This was a pickup order, and I didn't realize it until I got home. I originally ordered a few things with salmon. They called to say they were out of salmon so they said they could do shrimp instead after I asked to cancel my order. Long story short, the dumplings were disgusting and the spring rolls were just lettuce and very dry tasteless shrimp. No mint leaves or anything. I ordered two taro drinks with boba and they didn't have boba in them so they pulled out a drink from the fridge they made 10 minutes prior. This place has very friendly staff, a chef who takes pride in the food he creates and and a menu full of varied Asian dishes. My family and I ordered many different dishes to try and loved them all!
