First time trying this place. I've been looking for some subgum chow mein for a long time. Nobody serves this dish anymore, but it's a taste of American-Chinese food from my childhood, and wow, is this good. Subtle flavors, crisp noodles and that baking soda-tender chicken (by the way, that's why your chicken isn't as tender at home or moist). Price: unbeatable in these times, so much less expensive than any place I know of expect maybe their neighbors, Yes Chinese. And they offer discounts and free items based on spend, wow! Food: I will say that the portions (dim sum) are smaller than the higher-priced places like Excellent Cuisine. But, the flavor is there so why not try more! Sticky rice is one of my must-gets and this one is great. My only gripe would be the black bean ribs, very meaty, but not as tender as I'd like. Shrimp and chive are great, and again, just a little smaller than I'm used to. The combos (pick 3), amazing and just about $15 bucks. That's US dollars...incredible. Service: we got to-go, so I'll update this later when we dine-in, but while waiting, everyone was smiling, friendly and came back often to update me of my order status. I'm assuming nobody wants to see my home, to-go plates, but I can say it was very good, and I will make this place a go-to. read more

Nothing stood out. Regular American Chinese. I wanted a dim sum item but they were out of it. Lots of choices on the lunch and combo meals. Lunch service was great. Night time was not as good but it was close to closing and we still were able to get a to go order. They do have video poker and a bar. That might bring me back. read more

I visited this spot a while back while exploring more Dim Sum options around PDX. Overall, it's an okay spot for Dim Sum, but not worth the drive from SE Portland for me. The shrimp eggplant was underwhelming. The shrimp was dry, and while the eggplant was fresh and tender, the dish didn't come together as hoped. The tofu skin roll had a pleasant bamboo shoot texture, yet the sauce was thick with cornstarch made it heavy for this delicate dish. The chicken feet were above average, well flavorful but over cooked. The BBQ pork bun came out cold with minimal meat inside. The dough was airy and moist, which was nice, but it didn't quite redeem this stable dish for any Dim Sum enthusiasts. Service was fine, though no one checked in after our food was served. Found this gem a few months ago while searching what to eat around this area. To my surprise, it was a cute dim sum spot in an industrial park. I like how you get to write down what you want here and you get everything made fairly fresh. The shrimp rice rolls were really good, also loved the wo kok. I started speaking Cantonese to the staff and all was well! Glad my native language comes in handy. I will definitely be back. It's got a little parking lot so no worries on that. read more

This place is great and sadly I just passed it by since it is located in an industrial park and looks so plain and boring from the outside. Inside you will find some great people working, big portions and good food. Nice selection of the usual Chinese American selections if that is what you are looking for. I've only been here for dim sum (by order, no driving carts). The quality is very good (not quite up to some of the giant more authentic places) but reasonably priced and never requiring a 45-minute wait even at popular times. They just added Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings) which are serviceable but feel pre-made and frozen. The non-dom-sum menu options we've tried include a new cumin beef (very flavorful!) and sauteed green beans (crisp with nice garlic addition and bits of onion). read more

I came here because I saw dim sum on the menu and was curious to try it here. The prices were not surprising. I wish they could have been lower. The dim sum ranged between $4.50-$8.50 per plate. They have an extensive menu - front and back. The tea they served was good jasmine tea. Food was good (or maybe we were really hungry). What I would get again: B1 pork shew my (shu mai) B4 steamed spare ribs with black bean B5 shin roll A 16 lo bok ko (radish cake) B 21 rice noodle wrapped with shrimp (ha cherng) The interior is spacious. There is a restroom. There was a doorway leading into a room with slot machines, but I don't know if that is part of the restaurant. You pay at the register. This Chinese restaurant is not located in a noticeable location. I was specifically looking for Chinese food, and this restaurant popped up. Parking spaces are tight and small, but since weren't any other cars around, it was fine. It was already dinner hour, and we were the only ones dining in. The older menu on Yelp had a section called "Ceramic Pot", but it is not on the menu when I went. We came as a party of four, and choosing four dishes was already more than enough to make us all completely full. We ordered the House Special Fried Rice (includes BBQ pork and shrimp), Shrimp with Honey Glazed Walnut (includes a cup of rice), Buddha's Feast (mixed vegetables and includes a cup of rice), and a bowl of Egg Flower Soup (everyone gets a bowl or two). I wish their bowls were bigger to hold more food/soup at once. Food was delicious, and total estimated $60, which was at least $20-$30 less than I had spent elsewhere on a meal. In the bottom tier of Portland Dim Sum. First, there are no rolling carts as you order off the menu. However, they occasionally walk the floor with metal steamers of popular items such as Har Gao and Shu Mai. The Beef Chow Fun was probably the better of the many dishes we ordered. I just now noticed I never left a review from my visit at the end of July. hmm....why? oh yeah...I didn't want other people to know how good this place is! Heaven forbid it gets crowded when I visit this side of town again. I'm going to say this place 3.5 stars (yelp won't let me put 1/2 star) so I rounded up. If you put SF Bar area dim sum at 5 stars, and work down from there...this place is better than okay. Good but some dishes are definitely better than others. I was a little worried when I showed up on a Saturday, right when they opened. Only two other diners. But it slowly started to fill up with big groups as I wrapped up my meal. It's a little out of the way, (normally I hit the spots on or around SE 82nd). But it's convenient if you are visiting from out of town. It's relatively close to the PDX airport and Cascade Station shopping area and several hotels/motels. I think I heard both Cantonese and Vietnamese spoken by the staff here, if you happen to speak either. They had most of my faves here. Har gow, siu mai, beef cheung fun, phoenix claws, and wu kok (taro puff). The wu kok had a slightly different flavor than I'm used to, but still good. I think possibly there is a little bit of a Vietnamese influence that is just a tiny bit different than the typical Cantonese style I am used to. Best surprise....they brought out some baked char siu bao that were hot out of the oven. I was to going to pass but they smelled so good. (normally I don't like to fill up on the steamed char siu bao). I'm glad I took some. Really goood! Reminds me of the style at Tim Ho Wan in Las Vegas. Smaller size than the steamed variety. Not too heavy, with a little bit of a sweet sugar crust? on the top. My only regret? Not coming back for dinner. That was my original plan, but I got distracted by a K-BBQ place on the Vancouver side of the river. I think I would've enjoyed Good World for dinner instead. The K-BBQ was a little disappointing. Service was great and super friendly contrary to what other reviewers have said. Overall quality is not quite as good as HK Cafe or Excellent Cuisine, but their prices are much better and quality is still very good. read more

The ordering process for to go was super quick. The hostess and other server were really friendly with genuinely smiling faces. I've been trying out a different dim sum places in Portland. I was recommended to try out Goodworld and came here on a Saturday morning. I was expecting it to be busy on a Saturday morning but it was empty. As soon as we got seated, the server came by and slammed menus on our table and walked away. We all have our bad days, and this day might have been one for her, so I'll let that go. The interior of the place is a little dated. My seat had a giant hole in it so I was sinking into it. Now the dim sum here isn't served in the carts. It is made when you order (so they say). Overall the dim sum was so-so. Not good, not bad. If you're looking for a quiet dim sum place, this is a chill spot. But if you're looking for good quality dim sum, this is not the place. Our current local favorite among Americanized Chinese restaurants in NE Portland, Goodworld is consistently above the bar in terms of quality, portion size, cleanliness of the restaurant, and wait time from order to table. The Wor Wonton Soup has a bold, flavorful broth, and is my fiancee's favorite dish, while I generally default to the mongolian beef with a side of stuffed jalapenos (not what you think). The orange chicken, our kids' favored choice, is more citrus-forward than I have experienced at other Chinese restaurants, but this is not a bad thing: the kids aren't complaining, anyway! The dim sum, when it is fresh and hot, is above average; there are better options in the Portland Metro area, but these superior choices are usually about ~30 minutes drive from NE. Hard to find better in this otherwise desolate corner of the city. Service sometimes leaves something to be desired, oscillating between polite and curt, depending on the server. Goodworld's retail location is awkward and a bit too big for its britches, but at least the interior is clean and spacious. Generally we take our orders to go, but our few dine-in experiences have been fairly standard. Take-aways (hah!): Good food with bold flavors, standard prices. Order to pickup time is around 10 minutes. No real incentive to dine-in, though. read more

It makes me sad people have had bad experiences with this restaurant when I've been going here my whole life, even before they switched buildings, and nothing like that has happened with me. There's a din sum place that opened up where an old one was recently and I found out one of the servers works at both places, every day. I watch a customer(white) and one of the servers converse and joke about the weather(heavy snow, unusual for oregon) I can assure you no type of "reverse racism" is happening here. Also dim sum is something meant to be eaten freshly made or at the restaurant, i wouldnt recommend ordering for home.
