We came in for lunch thinking there's a lunch special (saw a menu and didn't look at the date). There's only one other table and this place is really more of a dinner or bigger party place because the portions are family size. We ordered the fried rice and seafood with Japanese tofu. The food was ready on time and delivered. The spring rolls were good and but didn't stand out. The Chicken and broccoli was really good - tender chicken, crisp broccoli with a mild sauce. Everything fried (shrimp, spring rolls etc), was doughy and slimy. The BBQ pork was not even meat, is was some kind of fried fat, my husband said it had the consistency of coagulated jello. They have no family style meals, you just have to buy huge plates of food, that are very expensive, and you don't even get rice with an entree. The meat was anyone's guess. Fried rice: Something about the texture of the rice I liked. It was kinda chewy and satisfying. It could have had more of a crispy, fried texture though. And it was underseasoned. I liked the way the egg was cooked though. It was light, thin, and not overcooked, if that makes sense. General tsos chicken: The chicken was pretty good. Not stringy, not dry. It wasn't too crispy though. And the sauce was disappointing: pretty sweet; too salty in a weird way; not much else. Price: A little on the expensive side. $19 for the general tsos, $16 for the fried rice. $20 for the honey walnut shrimp (for my girlfriend). Solid, went there on Christmas and the Asian lady server kicked ass! Seriously she was rocking and rolling all the time we were there. They did a solid plus job the whole way though. Stiff drinks no issues with the food at all. Good serving size sweet and sour pork. Ribs were way too sweet. Meaning that's all we tasted. Was sweet sweet sweet sweet sweet. But we took them home and modified them and they ended up pretty fantastic after modification. The Mongolian beef was spicy and tasty with no issues whatsoever. We stumbled across this restaurant when we were passing through Portland. It's Friday noon and it's very quiet, just us and another table. Inside is a bit old school Chinese restaurant vibe but very clean and neat. Amble parking space right outside. We ordered the Peking duck, ginger scallion crab and beef noodles and all super yummy and authentic taste. Especially the Peking duck, there are two ways to eat, one with the soft bun and one with lettuce, super tasty! Highly recommended if you are looking for a quiet spot for authentic Chinese food. Last stop on my "The Best Authentic Cantonese Fare in the Portland Metro - 2022" collection. They were closed for a few weeks in January, glad they are open again. I got take out but you are better off dining in. Here is how it scored: Lamb clay pot with bean curd sticks and lettuce: 5/5 fabulous dish Seafood chow fun with XO sauce: 4/5 pretty tasty but the scallops were a little fishy. I opted for the pork with black bean sauce, a dish dominated by chunks of bell pepper. Choice of small cup of soup: hot and sour or egg drop.
