    Garlic Chicken Plate

We have been to this location several times - service is always friendly & they consistently serve delicious food that hits our craving. The portion is enough to take home. Save your stomach for their cream or ube filled Malasadas.

I've been here twice so far. The menu is simple, sticking to the classics and focusing on fresh, well-made Hawaiian dishes. No frills, just good food. The staff has always been super friendly, and the place itself feels welcoming. On one visit, there was a bit of an unusual moment with a guest's dachshund ate inside on the table and the staff came up to pet the dog who licked their hands and what not, it caught me off guard more than anything. It didn't seem like a service animal since they're trained to stay under the table, so it's probably worth keeping in mind that non-service animals are allowed at this restaurant. Overall, it's been consistently solid food wise.

    Garlic Chicken. Highly recommend it.

I give them 5 stars for the Garlic Chicken plate and the mixed plate with Garlic Chicken and Kahlua pig. Highly recommend this place. I previously gave them a poor review for the Garlic Chicken for the chunks of garlic in the meal. Now it is much improved and I give it a solid 5 stars.

Love this place. Thank k goodness they finally opened one closer to my house than Mesa. We had the garlic chicken and the combo Kalbi and garlic shrimp. Kalbi was beautifully charred with a sweet soy marinade along with the shrimp that was cooked perfectly in a garlic butter. Garlic chicken tasted more like a mochiko chicken and was slightly tougher pieces of chicken thighs. Overall nice place for lunch. Please get an ice machine! There wasn't a cube of ice anywhere to be found for the beverages.

The one and only place to get Hawaiian food in the valley So glad they opened this location in PV as the original location is all the way out in Mesa. The PV location is pretty spacious inside. They make everything to order so it can take a while for food to come out I LOVE the kalbi, mac salad & malasadas. Garlic shrimp is a nice treat every once and a while but they go heavy on the butter so I don't feel the greatest after indulging in garlic shrimp

We got takeout after hearing this could be the only authentic Hawaiian food in the Valley. We were so happy we stopped. My husband loved his poke bowl and my mixed bowl was great. Typically not a short rib person but wow they were great, and the garlic chicken was awesome. Going to try the pork next time. It was busy inside at 6:15pm when we picked up. Service was nice and efficient, our order was ready. We'll be back!

My grams and I drove 30 minutes to try this place and we were not disappointed! The prices are very reasonable, considering the portion size that you get, and we were blown away with the taste. It took about 15 minutes to get our order, but when it comes out, it's piping hot so you know that it's fresh and ready to eat. We shared a combo with shrimp and ribs, and then got an additional side of Mac salad and rice. We also got a six pack of the malasadas and I'm literally dreaming about them. The ube filling was by far the best, and quite honestly better than some I've had in Hawaii before. We will definitely return. Plenty of seating inside too!

I ordered a Kalbi and Garlic Chicken mix plate and a half dozen of Ube Yam and Vanilla Custard Malasadas. No complaints about the mix plate. Meats weren't dry and were flavorful. Rice was properly clumpy, not a mushy mess iykyk. Malasadas tasted like what I've had on Oahu. I wish the cream was sweeter and little thicker but still tasty. I also tried one of my friend's garlic shrimp and wow it was a big, juicy shrimp! No issues with service. There isn't much of an ambience but as long as the food is good!

Big, big fan of Hapa Food Company in East Mesa. This is my first visit to their new Scottsdale and the vibes are there for sure! The garlic shrimp are huge and packed with flavor - I wish it were fried so I can eat the skin too but that's a personal preference. Biggest issue this visit was the garlic chicken tasted a bit stale and lacked the satisfying crunch I remember and were a bit overdone and dry. I've had good experiences before so I would still highly recommend giving them a try! Pro-tip: try the hurricane chicken on the not so secret menu. FYI, they have a $1 credit card fee

Hapa offers your basic Hawaiian food. We had the mixed plate with garlic chicken and kalua pork. The chicken was fried and it had perfect amount of seasoning with hint of garlic flavor. The pork, on the other hand was bit salty. We also had poke plate. The sides, macaroni salad and kimchi were good. It also came with lot of rice. Their dessert, malasada was very fresh and delicious. We tried the plain and ube custard. Both were equally delicious. Service is fast and excellent. It's order at the counter and take a number deal. Recommend to try at least once!

I love Hawaiian BBQ and I've gone to many spots in the valley, and my husband makes spareribs at home on the regular - but Hapa Food is by far the best in the valley for Hawaiian BBQ! The flavor of the sauce on the chicken and spareribs was so juicy and savory, and the meat was tender! The macaroni salad had great flavor and the portion was large! We ordered to go since we made a pit stop during the workday, and it travelled well! Additionally the location is clean, the service is great! We ordered some dessert to go and they through in an extra! What a nice surprise! Not expected, but appreciated! Big fan of this new spot and can't wait to go again!

Food is amazing but it's expensive. Sucks that there isn't really good Hawaiian for a decent price. The food here was good but costed us $40 for two people. Workers were nice, restaurant needs better ventilation, the entire store was smokey from the kitchen

Kalbi ribs and garlic shrimp plate.

Kalbi ribs! Garlic shrimp! Are we back on the islands? The ribs were delicious and a good portion size. The (4) garlic shrimp were big! And covered in garlic butter. Came with rice, mac salad and kimchi. And a lemon wedge. The mac salad was good, though not quite as flavorful as others I've had. The rice was cooked nicely and the kimchi added a nice kick of acidity. We did also order 6 filled malasadas (3 each custard and ube) which were good but maybe a little overfilled. Next time I think we'll get to regular (unfilled). We were greeted as soon as we walked in and she said she'd be right with us. As we stood at the counter looking at the menu, one of the cooks also said someone would be right with us. This was appreciated because it means they pay attention to their customers. And it didn't take long before someone came to take our order. The entire time we were there, everyone was working. There wasn't anyone just standing around. The interior is a bit bare, but clean. And I don't need a fancy interior with food this good. We did get ours to go, but there were tables and some other customers dining in. If you are looking for authentic Hawaiian food, I would definitely recommend Hapa. We will definitely be back!

Where things really took a turn was the food. I was so hoping I found a new staple in our walkable restaurants list but the food was mostly disappointing. We liked our fairly standard French onion soup and Caesar salad. The shrimp cocktail were not good at all. Shrimp was tough and mealy. They marinate them with a bunch of herbs. Maybe that caused the unpleasant texture? On top of that, I did not like the herbs used in the marinade. Good shrimp cocktail stands on its own! I should also add that these were $7/each. A week later I had the most amazing shrimp cocktail - tender and sweet and almost double the size for $4/each. I don't mind paying $7. I've paid $13 each for good shrimp cocktail. Just a lot of money to spend on something so disappointing. Our sea bass was also tough. Flavor was okay. The piece was fairly thin - possibly why it was overcooked? For those who love sea bass, I suggest checking it out at SumoMaya or Dominick's. Can't be beat! Sadly, I don't think we'll be back. Too many other excellent options nearby.

A steak place that doesn't know how to cook steak ... And get orders correct…read more With a party of 13, we decided to reserve the private room in the back. At first everything was running smoothly until the food came out. Most everyone got the steaks or some special. Here were the first problems: - Not everyone got steak knives after asking 3 times. - 2 ribeye steaks were overcooked (asked for medium rare and got well done). - 1 fillet steak was still alive when asked for well done. - All plates were made out of metal so it burnt your hand when touching (made an infant cry instantly). - Brussel sprouts were cooked whole, too big to take one bite and was incredibly greasy. - Someone got the wrong salad. - Someone got the wrong vegetables. So that's where the downfall began. I usually don't enjoy complaining but when a restaurant is advertised as being high-end, I expect more, and there was more ... just more issues. We asked for a refry on these steaks. It took them so long that everyone else finished eating already. When they came out, we got more problems: - 1 ribeye didn't have a bone for some reason (but everyone did). - 1 "fillet" steak was actually a ribeye cut covered in sauce to hide it. Here comes the unprofessionalism from the staff. When asked about the ribeye bone, she just said that "they" removed it for you. I'm asking, "Why?" An $85 ribeye should always have the bone. I never asked to take it off. The ignorance continues with the "fillet." I know what a fillet looks like and when asked about the cut, the waitress had the audacity to say, "They flattened the fillet for you..." I'm asking, "Why?" We all knew what a fillet looks like compared to a ribeye. It wasn't a fillet. What professionally trained chef would ever flatten a fillet? How ignorant do you have to be to even say this? The ridiculousness continued with the floor manager coming in, apologizing, gave our first round of drinks for free, 1 steak for free and gave us a business card to contact the general manager. Wait. What? It's a Saturday night, during MLB spring training and the GM isn't around? And you want us to contact them? You want us to do your work for you, to contact the GM? In the end, I'm only frustrated because the steak was $85 and it felt like I could have cooked this better at home. The steak looked like you bought it at Trader Joe's. This whole experience, was not the waitress' fault. She was dealt with a difficult situation because of the back-of-house, the designer of the restaurant and everything else around her. Who is expediting the food? Who is in charge on a Saturday night? Who is the chef? Does this person know the basics of cooking and plating? Who here cares about their food? Who designed the metal plates to be burning hot to guest? I think I found a new nominee for Kitchen Nightmares. If you want to try this place, get the steak well-done if you want medium-rare. That's what I've learned this weekend.

The service was top tier. I wish customer service like this existed everywhere. Hannah was outstanding. She was welcoming, attentive, and helped make our night even more enjoyable. She didn't linger but somehow always knew when to check back on us as soon as we needed something. We're always weary of trying out a new restaurant for the first time but dinner was spectacular. Everything we ordered was so delicious and cooked to delectable perfection. High compliments to the chef! Appetizer: Warm Bread Basket - A must have! The bread was so scrumptious that it doesn't even need the delicious whipped butter. But the butter was so amazing it was hard not to smother every morsel of bread with it. Fantastic appetizer option. Entrees: 1/2lb Dutch Harbor King Crab Legs - Served with perfectly cooked asparagus, potatoes, and the usual side of melted butter. My wife said the butter that the crab is cooked in/served with was so phenomenal that she didn't have the need to dip into the side butter. I chose this restaurant because my wife loves crab legs and these absolutely delivered. The meat was sweet and succulent, and most importantly, they tasted fresh! Filet Mignon (8oz) - Delicious and perfectly seasoned! Exactly cooked how my wife ordered it and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Willow Bend Lamb - I can't rave enough about how exquisite this was. I was worried the chops were going to be too large but the portion size was spot on to my liking. The roasted garlic thyme jus it's served with is rich, savory, and a great compliment to the tender and juicy chop. I would order this again and again. Sides: Parmesan Truffle Fries and Smoked Gouda Tater Tots - It's hard to mess up a potato but somehow Ocean Prime was able to make it even more delicious. The fries had a perfect balance of crisp and tender, and the parmesan truffle flavor was the cherry on top. Wonderful aftertaste and surprisingly pairs well with crab legs. The tots had a perfect crisp exterior and a fluffy inside. The offerings are generous so 1 side would suffice for 2 people. Every bite was scrumptious and a definite recommend for the table. Cocktails: My wife also had the Berries & Bubbles cocktail. Well, it was so yummy that she had 2 of them. I had a sip and although I'm not a vodka fan, I can attest that it was indeed yummy. The dry ice is a nice touch and adds to the beauty and appeal of this drink. The drink is poured at the table (Hannah is clearly a pro at it). It was like a dinner and a show! Dessert: We were offered to choose a dessert on-the-house to celebrate my birthday. We ordered the Warm Butter Cake for the table and a Chocolate Torte to go. Hannah was kind enough to comp both of them for us! The Warm Butter Cake was AMAZING! From the delicious ice cream served on top to the gooey buttery velvety center of the cake with a perfectly crisped edge, it was everything you'd want in a dessert and more. I'm sure it's the star of the dessert menu. I've yet to make it to the torte but I've no doubt I'll be swimming in chocolatey goodness when I do. Lastly, I had flowers delivered to the restaurant to surprise my wife, and I asked if they would please have them set at the table prior to our arrival. They were able to receive the delivery before opening time and were placed perfectly in the middle of our table (booth seating). I'm so grateful for how they accommodated my request and helped me execute a wonderful surprise that gained a beautiful smile from my wife. 10/10 experience. Five stars all across the board. Worth every dollar spent. I highly recommend Ocean Prime for any and all events, or if you're simply just looking for a delicious meal.

Unfortunately they got rid of the shrimp ceviche from the regular menu and replaced it with the michelada ceviche that used to only be on happy hour. Another change was the removal of the waffle with caviar from the happy hour menu, but good news, they can still make it if you ask! We decided to order a cup of clam chowder each to start off with and for our main entrees, we ordered a cold lobster roll and a shrimp po boy. The chowder was a bit disappointing for our preferences. However, both the lobster roll and the shrimp po boy were fantastic in both taste and quality! The lobster roll looked smaller than others I've had before but it was absolutely STUFFED with sizable chunks of lobster meat. I would definitely come back for another one in the future. What I really appreciated about this place was that for a fast-casual dining experience, the service was very friendly and attentive from start to finish. Even though this establishment is considered fast-casual dining the vibe inside didn't feel like it based on the décor and cleanliness. Not only do they have plenty of indoor seating options, but they also have a sizable outdoor patio.
