I go here at least once a month for my grilled mahi platter! I get the blackened fish, but I always tell them to add the butter on top to keep it moist. Sometimes they overcook the fish so be sure to ask them to keep it moist. Tonight was excellent and it came out piping hot and perfect! The rice was nice and hot and had a perfect chewy texture - done just right. The fries never fail! They taste just like McDonald's fries; it's a true compliment not an insult!!! Aside from the food, I absolutely love the service! Every one of the staff is always, always friendly! They pay attention. They ask you if you need anything. I've been going to "coconuts" now called Maui Fish House about 2 times a week for about 3 years It was always HOT FRESH and felt very CLEAN. Clean eating that is. I gave it one last chance yesterday a total of 3 times in a row of barely warm food, fishy fish where I almost couldn't swallow and once I left a few hours later, my tummy was upside down. I was so grossed out all night. I will NEVER go back. It was almost cold old and fishy tasting which was so gross. Not one person was the same worker as before. So the "name change" shows me EVERYTHING changed. YUCK I would rather stay hungry than give them another chance unfortunately. Honestly, I'm shocked it doesn't already have a perfect rating because it definitely earned one from me. We shared the poke bowl and the fish tacos, and both were so good. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and well made. You can tell they really care about the quality of the food. Wow. This place was impressive, not only were the fish tacos really good and delicious but the service was amazing and the owner was super friendly and helpful. The staff were very welcoming as well and paid a lot of attention to our needs and were proactive. We also had the fish and chips and this was so light and crispy and the fries were very good. We sat outdoors in the perfect Arizona spring weather. What really made the visit was the owner's friendliness and hospitality. A light rain on a breezy Scottsdale afternoon and lovely outdoor seating - reminds me of my 15 visits to Maui and dining at the Maui Fish House there as well! Great feeling. And the Mahi Mahi Fish & Chips are so fresh, tender, perfectly battered and lightly fired and delicious. This is the real deal. The fries are seasoned wonderfully with maybe a hint of paprika or Spike seasoning?! The portions are nice and the.coleslaw has a bit of a citrus flavor - so yum! My partner and I stopped by Coconut's Fish Cafe for a quick lunch while out running errands. We went on a Thursday afternoon around 1:30pm and it wasn't busy at all - plenty of tables available. I ordered the Fish & Chips and my partner got the Poke Bowl. The food came out really quickly, within a matter of minutes. I thought my Fish & Chips were great; the fish was moist and flavorful and the fries were hot and crispy. My partner wasn't the biggest fan of his Poke Bowl. He said the poke was sort of mushy and the whole thing was pretty bland. He ended up asking for some poke sauce to put on. It definitely needs it, not sure why it doesn't automatically come with the dish. The employee at the counter was friendly and helpful. She also checked-in after the food arrived, which is excellent customer service for a counter-order restaurant. I would definitely come back for the Fish & Chips. Like others have mentioned, I went to go to Coconuts and was very disappointed when it was gone, and I saw a sign for Maui Fish House where the Coconuts sign used to be... but I was happy again when I went inside and found out that it was exactly the same and they just changed the name... Odd business choice if you ask me... Anyhow, once I went inside, I was greeted by Erica and I was helped by Kyle... I was surprised when I asked if Kyle was the owner's son and I was told no... This young man certainly carries himself very well and is definitely a cut above when it comes to Customer service... You could say the same thing for Erica... These kids are wonderful ambassadors for the restaurant that they work for and in my opinion, they should be commended and given a raise... Customer service is dead nowadays, and the younger generation is usually completely clueless when it comes to service... These two are far above and beyond average and I hope they are being well taken care of by the business owner. especially Kyle, I think a lot of young men have egos, and it is pretty apparent to me that this young man was raised right... but bravo to both kids. read more

The family and i stopped in for a quick lunch on our first day of spring break. We were welcomed by a nice gentlemen who ended up being one of the owners of the location. He was very friendly and offered us a menu. The place was busy but handled the crowd well. The staff was friendly and it was clear that the team was working well together. The seafood dishes were excellent. My daughter let me sample her fish and chips and the breading was light and crunchy and the cut of mahi was excellent. i highly recommend. The portion size of the chicken pasta my other daughter had was huge so she'll have plenty of leftovers for our stay in Scottsdale. Unpretentious, quick, tasty. Although it's inexpensive, the food is miles above "fast food." My wife had the macadamia-crusted fish with mango salsa; I had grilled ono, and we split a piece of key lime pie. We were truly impressed by the freshness of the fish and side dishes, the emphasis on flavor and texture, and this isn't to leave out the very friendly helpful staff. I have had a long history with Coconuts, starting with my first visit at the original Coconuts in Maui over 10 years ago. We enjoyed it tremendously and were very happy when we found out a second location opened in Scottsdale. It was very good. Today we tried their newest location on Mayo Blvd. The seafood pasta was always my favourite and it tasted just as good. We tried something new, the Taco mountain. The presentation didn't look as good as on the video screen, and the fish was rather on the dried side, which means it wasn't cooked to order like good taco places. The ratio of brown rice to the taco condiments needs adjusting in my opinion. Other than that, it was a good experience. read more

They come piled with slaw and mango chunks so be sure to grab a fork to get every bite. I was kinda worried the portion size wouldn't fill me up, but wasn't an issue in the lease. We had a nice dinner for four on a Friday evening. The patio is a nice size so it accommodates a lot of people. We ordered the calamari, fish and a and a poke bowl salad. The calamari are heavily breaded and while crunchy the strips of calamari steak were still tender. The fish and chips are some of the best we've had, moist fish, flavorful batter and well cooked thin French fries. The poke bowl was the bomb however. Very fresh tuna with a nice kick of spice in my spicy version, plenty of pickled ginger, edamame, red onions, A few slices of avocado, fresh cucumbers, radishes, and chunks of mango. It was very flavorful and quite a large portion. Our friends ordered the fish plates and one suggestion would that be they get slightly larger plates as their food was falling off of them and hard to manage! read more

This is probably the best coconut shrimp I have had. Been coming to the Coconut's Fish Cafe for years and mainly go to the location on Shea (when I am not visiting Maui). The staff at this location is just as great as the other locations. The food is always fresh and piping hot and today was no exception. Shrimp appetizer was amazing and the fish tacos were delicious although very messy because they pack them so full. My normal go to is the local style with the fish blackened.
