This is still one of the best bbq I've had west of Texas. They deserve a Michelin Star. The brisket bark is amazing, the meat is perfectly marbled, but not overly fatty, and the seasoning makes the meat so flavorful. The pulled pork is also among the best ever. It's tender, juicy, and has deep seasoned smoky flavor.

The sausage with two sides ( jalapeño cheddar grit and cole slaw). Pulled pork with yummy beans and creamy mac and cheese.

Wonderful food choices. Friendly staff. Nice open area for seating. Would recommend! Very popular place. Their Mission statement is to be the best part of people's day. And they are!

This review is after a Saturday afternoon visit. The wait time to order wasn't too long. The line was about halfway to the door. The service was good. Friendly employees while ordering as well as employees checking in while dining in. The sliced brisket wasn't super flavorful nor was it warm. The chopped brisket was at least warmed by the potato bun and had additional flavor due to the sauce it comes in.The lemonades, original and prickly pear, were neither sweet nor sour. For the sides: the mac & cheese has a tangy/ smoky flavor, the jalapeño cheddar grits were fine with just a hint of spice, the ranch style beans were good. Overall, 7.5 out of 10.

West Texas BBQ. Good. Pricey. Quality cuts. Oh mmmmmmmy. I had smoked turkey and a pork rib. Spouse had the brisket. Sides were jalapeño and cheese grits, cole slaw and BBQ pork beans. Grits was too cheesy and rich for me. The rest, 10/10. Not cheap but worth every calorie and dime.

This place is THE go to for BBQ. Brisket is extremely tender with the perfect amount of smoke evident from the smoke ring. The cheddar sausages are has the right snap from the casing with the cheddar cheese just oozing out. Staff is always super friendly and restaurant immaculately clean. I always recommend LMB as the best in Phoenix anywhere west of Texas.

As someone who has lived in Texas and K.C. I am very skeptical about trying new bbq places. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the food and flavor . The grits were out of this world and had me wanting me food . The Mac and cheese was solid and very flavorful . The brisket was solid and was a nice mix of dry and wet. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was flavorful and made me want to eat more. When I go back o will definitely have the grits and jalapeño sausage with the brisket and I'll get the beans . The bread being provided was nice and I enjoyed making mini sandwiches with the meats . If you have the chu alce get in line and you will enjoy the food you are served.

3 beef ribs and 2 lbs of fatty beef. 220$ wild huh.

Food is excellent. Service was great very welcoming and generous with answering and accommodating all our needs. Ambiance is relaxing and comfortable. Also 250 with one beer and fountain drinks. You decide :)

NO WORDS! So savory & perfectly seasoned. Ordered a brisket sandwich, mac n cheese and coleslaw. Maybe a small pecan pie.. that equates to 2 slices. I'm drooling thinking about my purchase. At first glance, to go orders don't look appealing... BUT OMG! Don't be fooled- SO JUICY AND SAVORY. Perfectly sliced brisket, sausage was everything I wanted and more!

Love this bbq place, it's off 7th street and dunlap. Big parking lot, usually a wait of about 10-20 minutes, but definitely worth it. They have indoor and outdoor seating, 3 different bbq sauces in bottles at the table for you to try. Brisket is excellent, always consistent here. Always friendly staff, and the best bbq in the valley.

This was hands down the best BBQ I've ever had. We came on a Sunday and their special was candied pork belly (an absolute must try). We ordered that along with the brisket and four jalapeño cheddar sausages, plus sides of mac and cheese, jalapeño cheddar grits, and beans. I've never had BBQ this good. The meat was incredibly tender, and every bite was packed with flavor. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was oozing and juicy, the brisket was smoky and melt in your mouth tender, and the pork belly was the perfect combination of fatty, juicy, and sweet. The sides were just as impressive. All rich, creamy, and comforting. And the beans, my goodness I've never had beans this good in my life. An unforgettable BBQ experience from start to finish.

Great BBQ!!! I haven't had bbq since moving to Az and this place didn't disappoint. We got to try the Turkey, Brisket, Pork ribs, and Jalepeno cheddar sausages! I wish we would've come on a Saturday to try the Beef ribs but just means we have to come back. I wasn't a fan of the potato salad but all the other sides I would recommend especially the beans. All the workers were very friendly and the restaurant was well maintained. Cant recommend this place enough!

This place is to die for! Honestly the best bbq I've ever had. Absolutely delicious and worth every penny. You have to visit this place if you're in the area!

When will Central at Thomas location open?

No, they said they can't afford the cost it would take to make it profitable.

Is pork belly available everyday at this location?

When it is, get there early cuz they only make limited amounts and once it's gone it's gone !!!

What are the typical wait times for lunch? How early should we plan on arriving mid-week?

If you go right in the middle of lunch (11:30-1:30) plan on waiting in line anywhere from 5 minutes to 20 minutes. It's not nearly as insane as the original location.

How early should I get there?

I would suggest close to when they open to make sure they have the full menu available. A few months ago when I went around 2p on sat they were running out of their more popular items and there was still ~ 30min wait.

Am I going to have any problems getting in on a Thursday evening?

    5:00PM - No Problem! 6:00PM - Probably gonna wait for a while. 7:00PM - Waiting and possible… Read more

Do they only sell the green chili burritos on monday or do they sell bbq as well?

Only burritos, no bbq on Monday....

I've been to the Tempe location, but need some tips for the Sunnyslope Spot. If you're going for dinner, do they restock their meats at 4 p.m.? What time do you recommend lining up for a 4 p.m. entry? Is there a good shot at securing indoor seating?

It not as bad as Tempe. You can get in without a line until about 5:00PM.

Planning on visiting on a Sunday. Do they run out of items earlier on Sundays?

Absolutely. They are open earlier hours so they would always run out earlier but if you try to go there around 1pm they won't have much left.

Does this location give out line tickets like the University location?

No, been there a few times now and nothing like that.

If you go later in the evening on a Friday are they sold out of a lot of options?

    Likely so.

I stopped by Caldwell County BBQ for dinner on a Saturday evening. Located in Gilbert, I found…read morestreet parking right in front of the restaurant despite it being quite busy. I'll preface this review by saying I have very high standards when it comes to BBQ. I am from Houston after all. Caldwell County BBQ very much lived up to the hype. It's no surprise their reviews are so good. Ambiance (5/5): Caldwell County BBQ serves Texas-style BBQ. I felt right at home. There's a lot of Texan decor and the sort of ambiance you would expect at a BBQ joint. It's a spacious restaurant with plenty of seating outside and a decent amount of seating inside. We sat inside. One of the things they do well is keeping the A/C blasting both indoors and outdoors (while you're likely going to wait in line) along with misters. Definitely something you need in Phoenix! Service (4/5): I hate waiting in line. Though it's not unusual at popular BBQ spots, I still wish places like this would hire a couple of more people to make the line move faster (or even completely eliminate the lines). We probably waited in line for about 20 minutes. They have a water cooler along the route, but it was all out. Something the staff should check on a little more frequently. With all this being said, Caldwell County is well worth the wait. Drinks (5/5): Whenever I'm at a BBQ joint, I'm looking for sweet tea. Which they have here. Plus your standard assortment of soft drinks and alcohol, with a focus on beer. Food (5/5): BBQ joints typically have you pay by weight or by plates (one meat, two meats, three meats, etc.). Caldwell does it by the pound unless you go with a sandwich, loaded baked potato, etc. What's nice is they also have a family pack for 4 which comes with brisket, pulled pork, and your choice of ribs, sausage, or one other protein which is escaping me. Plus two large pint-size sides. We rolled with this option as it's a good deal (brisket, pulled pork, and St. Louis style ribs with corn casserole and mac and cheese). White bread, pickles, onions, and jalapenos are available free of charge. There are three BBQ sauces at each table: their classic BBQ, spicy, and AZ gold). We also added a quarter pound of the AZ burnt ends. Man, these are some quality meats. Brisket is the true test of Texas BBQ and the shining star. The brisket here isn't the best I've ever had but it's quite respectable. The sweet and spicy AZ burnt ends were delicious too. The ribs were tender and had a nice sweet glaze on them. The pulled pork was my least favorite, but still quite good. The sides are solid, though they could be a bit better. The mac and cheese was too peppery for my taste and the corn casserole was too sweet. Like pretty much all craft BBQ these days, Caldwell County BBQ isn't cheap. But the quality is there. This is the type of place that I would come back to again and again. They also have a location in Peoria though this one is the original. And I hear they don't run out of meats as other BBQ joints do (especially in Texas). That's a big plus! It's always a bummer when a BBQ joint is out of something you want. If you haven't been to Caldwell County BBQ, change that quick. Yeehaw!

I came the Sunday before Memorial Day and waited about an hour. They'll let you order drinks while in line and there's water. They sold out of pork belly right when I reached the front so I hope to try that next time. All of the employees were incredibly friendly. I got the two meat plate with fatty brisket and pulled pork with mac 'n cheese and grits as sides. I added on the prickly pear lemonade and pecan pie. The meats rivaled the BBQ I've had in Texas. The mac was incredibly cheesy and flavorful, and they know how to do grits right. Even with the jalapeños they were not spicy at all and I'm a wimp when it comes to spice. The pecan pie was the best I've ever had. The filling was custardy thick - I've never had a pie like it. The lemonade was a nice tart complement to the meal, plus I loved the house and mustard sauces. Having grown up in the South, I have high standards for BBQ. This place deserves all the praise it's getting.

We got our rental car and drove right over. Because we were hungry we decided not to wait in the line but reschedule to go back on Friday. I looked more at the reviews and Tik Tok's and saw this place was legit and the beef rib was to die for. Comes Friday, we get there at 10:15 am right before the line built up. We spoke with one of the employees for while regarding what to order and about Spring Training while we were in line. As we got in, you order at the counter and pick what you want. The employees are cutting up the food in front of you and weighing it. The inside area has limited seating and it's very narrow. Outside theres a good amount of seating but filled up right away. I ordered the beef rib for my dad and I to share, a plate for myself with brisket and turkey. I got cole slaw and mac sald on the side, both were kind've whatever for me. The turkey honestly is a sleeper pick, it was delicious and more flavorful that I thought. Brisket was mouthwatering and so tender but that beef rib lived to the hype. It fell off the bone and had the perfect fattiness to tender ratio. We enjoyed the outside and feasted but it's quite expensive like all BBQ. The quality was fresh and I would definitely recommend if you are in the area. I don't eat BBQ a lot so I don't have a huge sample size for whats good or not but I loved it!

The buffet-style setup worked perfectly, and the line moved quickly. We never ran out of food, and guests kept coming up to us throughout the night to tell us how amazing everything was. They handled all the setup and even brought their trailer on-site, smoking and cooking right there at the venue which was so cool to see and added to the whole experience. As for the potato salad, it was fairly decent though it had large pieces of potato skins which I personally do not care for in my potato salad. Since we didn't get any actual food as I stick to a vegetarian diet mostly, I'll give it a 4 star for the sides. Overall, the service was quick and friendly. There wasn't a big wait time for the food at all! Soon after we arrived, the corn bread was served (yummy but it fell apart easily), shortly followed by our spinach queso appetizer (very yummy), and not too long after that, our main course arrived (SUPER yummy). We ordered the Whole Hog Heaven, which was definitely worth its price for our family of 4 -- It came with your choice of 2 ribs/2 meats/3 sides. We ended up packing up the leftovers, aka a lil over half of the platter that was left... we made it our lunch/dinner for the following day lol. The waitress also offered complimentary warm/fresh donuts after we finished our meal, and the donuts were AMAZING. Kinda had the taste and texture of a churro. We were here for Easter Sunday, so I thought it was cute to see a little festivity with the egg and bunny decoration to our drinks (check my image). The vibe in here was pretty sociable, I would overall def recommend this place for any mini group gathering :) One small thing I will say is that the Brussel sprouts were a bit overly flavored or saucy

Our server was initially very attentive and got him his wine and me my beer. This is where the service fell apart. The server never came back This is May in Phoenix. If the server was overloaded with other tables we could understand. This was not the case. There were 3 other patrons in the restaurant. All the servers and other employees were at the hostess stand and there were 4 of them. A bartender could tell visually that our drinks at that point were almost empty. However, we were not her customers Fair enough! However, at 4:15 pm I would expect our server to have come back to check on us. Also, not begrudging employees working double shifts. But, 2 other employees eating wings in the bar. All things forgiven if I had gotten decent service. I was going to eat dinner. But, given the service climate. I decided to cut my losses and pay for my beverages and leave . I would have commented to the Manager on duty if one has been visible. I have been to other locations of BobbyQ's and had a great experience. It's just a shame the employee's and management at this location don't care. Even though this location is only 3.5 miles from my house. I doubt I will be back. It might be a while, but will go to the 27th ave location. Good luck with this location You might want to fix your service challenges or you might go the way of Zen Burger. People will only put up with so much even if the food is exceptional. Don't rest on your Laurel's.

This what we ordered: Brisket Hot links Pork Belly Pork Ribs BBQ Beans Collard Greens BBQ Spaghetti Hot Water Cornbread Cedar Lane Lemonade Everything was flavored nicely. If I had to omit one item from our order it would be the beans. My favorite was the BBQ Spaghetti, collard greens and the Hot water cornbread. I thought the beans would have a bit more flavor, but I've never been a bean kind of gal. You will need to try it for yourself! The Hot water Cornbread was great. The texture was a little gritty, but still yummy. The shape is what caught me by surprise. It was round and flat almost like a pancake. The service was outstanding. Friendly and hardworking. The food came out in good time. There is plenty of seating inside and outside. Has a warm but rustic vibe. I would most definitely revisit this spot whenever in the area.

The whites stayed north because local industry made real estate in the southside less desirable. Slaughterhouses and rendering factories gave south Phoenix a black cowboy population. Sure, there are cowboy groups in California - West Oakland and Compton - but these guys are all LARPing. That is, they're playing the part. Weekend warriors. The afro-vaqueros of Phoenix are dyed in the wool, real deal westerners. So anyway, it's in this milleu you find AT JL BBQ. Alongside said cowpoke, you may, as I did, dine next to a couple 304s. It's an active neighborhood, what can you say? Neither here nor there, but the ephemera that adorns the walls is different than what you might find at a soul food place. It's decidedly more American as such. Speaking of the signage: one of them reminds you that bbq is not fast food and that a patient temperament is of the utmost. Yet, the smoker ain't going. The Cue been cooked. As for the sides, no one does greens and Mac n cheese a la minute. So if everything is prepared, why do I have to wait? I kid. I jest. The girl behind the counter was all by herself. Gave great recommendations. And even gifted me a bottle of water On this visit, brisket was sold out. Late afternoon: makes sense. They had pulled pork. Bites of the smokerd rendered fat therein had the effect of rocket fuel. Pork belly was even porkier than the aforementioned shredded butt. Ribs pretty good too. Mac: ultra cheesy. Pot liquor from the collard greens came in clutch for hydrating the more dry pieces of pork.
