Egg City has been around for a while but this was my first visit. What intrigued me was that they offered a Mexican breakfast. They are open from 8am-8pm (Mon-Sunday). The restaurant is bright and colorful, with a friendly and engaging staff that is appreciative of your business. The portion size is adequate. The food is delicious and fairly priced. I ordered the the Egg Torta ($8). It comes on a toasted Portuguese roll stuffed with eggs, beans, cheese. tomatoes and avocado. It is both filling and delicious. Seen tEgg's city while driving on main . Street in boonton n had good reviews so thought we'd stop by for lunch on Memorial Day. Convenient location w street parking. Bright airy n colorful restaurant. Looks small from outside but it's quite big. Friendly welcoming staff. Had the chilaquile w chorizo , breakfast burrito and egg torta carnitas. The service is slow. There isn't any organization within the wait staff. The coffee is weak. The meal was ok. It's eggs so you can't mess them up too bad. Egg's City is a great breakfast spot with fresh food, quick service, and kind wait staff. The building is much larger than you'd be able to tell from the street and there is plenty of seating. We had our pick of seating and were offered drinks and brought chips and salsa as soon as we sat down. Our food came out quickly and was absolutely delicious - plus the portions were great and the cost was very reasonable. Vegetarians will also be pleased to know that the beans are only cooked in butter and water (not lard!) so that ends up making most dishes vegetarian, if not vegan, friendly. I was heading out for the day and felt a rare urge for breakfast. Since I'd had the wonderful Latin American Restaurant for dinner the night before, and they don't have a breakfast menu, I realized there's a place in town I've walked by so many times and never walked into. Egg's-actly! So in I finally came to check this place out. Ambiance: Eh. It's like a narrow walk-in diner. You can select your table as you please but it seems somewhat like a typical pizzeria in how long and narrow it is. Service: Very friendly. They do speak English fairly well here if you need that. Food: The only hot sauce on the table has artificial color in it. Fortunately, Egg's makes its own green (mild) and red (hot) sauce. Red sauce isn't that hot, but I can tell the sauces are made in house. Never had a green sauce quite like this one, and this is a nice one, a bit creamier than usual and less of a tang to it. The red sauce brings a little heat, which you could probably enhance at your table with the green sauce if you don't mind the color. I do, but that's OK. As far as what I ordered, I saw a range of desayunos and went for the chilaquiles. I asked for both egg and sausage, and even though they're only on the menu separately, it was no problem for them to get both ingredients in the mix. The food came out exactly like I expected - maybe a little smaller than I thought, but then again I ordered breakfast, not dinner! The nachos in the chilaquiles in particular were very nice, soaked in sauce and so just a little crunch, mostly just delicious mouthfuls of chewy carbs. Sausages were nicely interspersed as I spread the sunny egg over them. (I'm sure if you wanted your egg differently, they could work that.) Overall I'm pleasantly impressed by Egg's and finding myself wishing I liked breakfast more. If you're a breakfast person in this town, Egg's might actually be the best thing going... not to cast aspersions on the bagels or other options you might consider, but Egg's brings flavor and variety. read more

The focus on Mexican breakfast was the draw, even with no Yelp reviews. Huevos rancheros seemed plausible even before I knew it was listed first on the menu, and provided an enjoyable picnic as outdoor dining season nears the end. I opted for potatoes in lieu of beans as the side, and these were appealing home fries made even better with salsa. Boonton isn't the easiest spot to visit - perhaps 40 minutes by car but unreachable by train on weekends - but someday I hope to return for chilaquiles. read more

Definitely a unique restaurant. I love their GF Fried Quesadillas. I usually get the steak ones. It's topped with lettuce, tomato, avocado, cheese and a drizzle of sour cream. I've also had their chilaquiles. You get to pick protein with your chilaquiles. I love spicy and I always ask for spicy salsa but they always give me the same one. They told me they had a spicier one but I still have yet to receive it. I wouldn't mind paying extra for it but they never have a spicier one nor do they clarify that. I just wish they were more consistent with opening everyday and a bit more generous with their salsa too. One little container of salsa is just not enough for my three quesadillas. Like I said I wouldn't mind paying extra. Other than that I hope they stay open and continue to serve their delicious mexican style breakfast. read more

The place was empty on a Sunday late afternoon, but we were hungry and there wasn't really anything else around that was open unless you just want coffee. Food turned out to be delicious, however, it took a really long time to get it. We were a table of 10, so giving the benefit of the doubt, maybe that's why it took so long. A Mexican breakfast restaurant?! Amazing. Best. Ever. Concept. But also, best in practice. I like that they do offer sort of typical American fair like eggs and steak & eggs; but breakfast tacos and burritos are amazing. I noticed recently that they started serving through the day, too, but so far we've only been in for breakfast. Also very accommodating if you want something slightly off menu or in accommodating a simpler meal for my toddler. Glad to see Egg's City exists! read more

Been passing by this place and decided to give them a try. The place is clean. The staff is friendly. I wanted something for breakfast. I ordered the breakfast burritos. The menu says GRILLED BURRITOS STUFFED WITH BEANS, CHEESE, SALSA EGGS OF YOUR CHOICE AND SOUR CREAM. Sounded good, except there were no beans or salsa. It was loaded with potatoes and onions. Also their beverage selection on the menu is limited. I opted for bottled water out of their soda case. If they didn't have beans or salsa due to supply chain issues, they should've had a sign or at least told me. If it's because of cost, potatoes are cheap. Because the burritos were not what I ordered, I deducted 2 stars. There are plenty of other choices in the area, so I will not be back. Try at your own risk. Thank god I didn't have an allergy to potatoes or onions. read more

Delicious and seems pretty authentic! Highly recommend this spot for breakfast, brunch, or maybe any other meal. My immediate impression of the plate was underwhelming but I was quickly proved wrong when I took my first bite. It was so good! Will definitely return. Server was very polite, too! In the heart of sweet urban Boonton, is tasty Mexican fare of wide variety good menu, with good prices. We thought we were headed to a diner when pulling off Rt 287, but surprisingly it is a Mexican breakfast and brunch place. The chips are great. Thicker cut but fresh! Big servings of stuffed burritos and so much more. Ordered Guacamole which was not, but was good salsa verde. Chorizo yummy a burrito so big that I didn't finish the dish. This place is really good, but there is a serious language barrier that is becoming problematic. Each of my last 4 orders have been messed up. I just ate lunch in the restaurant, and the waitress literally couldn't understand what we wanted. We had to point at the menu, but our modest modifications were impossible to convey. I really like the food and the people but there has to be some way to make sure you get what you order. Frustrating. 4 stars bc the food is good, but I'm not gonna keep going back and playing menu roulette. read more

This spot is amazing! We stopped on our way to Maine, hoping for something that would feed my hungry family and keep us satisfied for the day. We walked in and Ricky, the owner, greeted us with a great menu and Latino music. We were instantly taken in with warm welcome and hospitable atmosphere. After finally making a selection, he let me know it would take 15-20 minutes and then he was off to make us breakfast. While we waited, the restaurant was clean (even the bathrooms!) and Covid cautious. The best part was the food! We ordered breakfast burritos and chicken burritos and carnitas. This was the best, most authentic juevos rancheros I've had in years. Even as a takeout order it was excellent. It had a perfect combination of flavor, with crema balanced by a great side of hot sauce that you can add to taste. The eggs weren't too runny. The refried beans are vegetarian. It is pretty apparent the person in the front of house greeting people and serving do not have a clue.. the owner of this place needs to train there employees.. 5 people in the place and waited for 15min and not even an acknowledgment from the waiter..
