I came in to have a pedicure & manicure. All the precautions are in place, however, one of the older male employees was sitting across the way in one of the pedicure chairs & pulls down his mask and just sneezes turning his face..DIDN'T cover his nose or mouth and puts his mask back on and continues on his phone totally ignoring the fact that there are customers around him. The others didn't even budge and acted normal! I spoke up and the manager said, "sometimes you just need to take the mask down and breathe." I couldn't believe what he was saying... I told him It had nothing to do with that! It was the fact that he sneezed without covering himself and it is aerosolized everywhere. The male employees were now seated around him & just stared at me like I had 5 eyes..I ended my service early and got out of there with only a pedicure. The lady that did my pedicure was apologetic and very sweet, however, I will never go back. It felt very weird to speak up for public safety and as a customer, yet treated like I was the one who, obviously, offended them. Every time I come here, it is PACKED, obviously by repeat customers who know the staff and request specific nail artists. There are about 20(?) chairs and even when it's full I usually get in a few minutes, and I never have an appointment. Yesterday was the busiest I've ever seen it with every seat taken but I still only had to wait 20 minutes. It's the best deal around without having to deal with a sale or promotion, plus the staff and nail artists are all nice and friendly AND they do a very quality job. Regular price is $15.99(!) for a spa pedicure with the full remote control massage chair set up -- clean and relaxing. For $10 more, you can add a regular manicure. There are other upgrade packages, and they are listed very clearly and honestly on a card that each nail artist carries, and you specify the number of the service package you want. There are never any hidden charges and surprises. They are very honest here. Additionally, you can get a free 5-minute shoulder and neck massage while you get your nails done. It's done by an elderly man who hangs out in the back, and you may have to ask your nail artist for it but it's definitely one of their regular perks as they have a big sign in front that lets you know. I usually don't get it but yesterday tried it and thought he did a great job for only five minutes. I have been to so many mediocre nail salons but this one is outstanding! Horrible experience waited for 3 hours all my nails are uneven asked her to fix several times. She didn't listen so now I have to pay 60 elsewhere to get them fixed. She hovered over me correcting my math for a tip. I asked for space so I can do it and she still hovered over me. The entire time she was looking past me and not even focusing on my nails. So pedicures and manicures are pretty personal and ripe for all kinds of problems. I like this place because I've been going over five years and the staff is large and pretty stable. I make an appointment to see Thu. She doesn't give a great massage however she knows how to deal with my ingrown nails. They have two male Massage dudes that wander and deliver strong stuff if that is your thing. Reasonable priced. Short wait times if you walk in. Of course the weekends are busy. I went in for a basic pedicure. The person who helped me was talking non stop to her coworker the whole time. The water in the foot bath was scalding hot she apologized and corrected it. She was brushing my nails and skin with a plastic brush that felt like a Brillo pad. She then proceeded to poke me with the sharp instrument used to clean my nails and again she apologized. I noticed the lady next to me was bleeding from her big toe. I don't know what happened there, but maybe my person was trying to help her. I will not be going back. read more

This isn't exactly where you would go to relax lol. It's a high volume salon and they fill it to capacity and you just kinda get in and get out. I found it to be a little chaotic, and like zero kind customer service. But, the price is decent and if you just need a quick service and don't care about ambiance or relaxation it fits the bill. I completely forgot I went to this salon until I went to write this review and found my old two star review from a few years ago. Now I'm down to one star for several reasons. Number one, the man running the place is very unfriendly to both customers and the ladies that work for him. Next, the girl doing my pedicure was ripping at my cuticles. After I flinched in pain a few times she didn't get the picture so I just had to tell her nicely to please stop. This is my new happy place. Saw a banner with a promo offer and wandered in. They immediately offered me a darn cute little bottle of water to quench my thirst. They have a zillion nail colors to choose from and they are all OPI which in my opinion seems to be the highest salon quality and lasts longer than most brands. They also massage your feet forever....SIGH. I've sometimes been a little, OK a lot disappointed in some of the massages I've received but the two times I have been here they were exceptional. I couldn't even concentrate on my trashy mag because my eyes rolled back into my head in ecstasy. The last time I came in they offered me a 5 minute neck and shoulder massage for free. I realize it was for an up sell opportunity but it was awesome and really worked out the kinks I had been carrying around. Although I didn't upgrade to the 15 minutes massage for $10.00 I did throw a couple of tip bucks his way for his effort. This place is a multiple service salon and the prices are pretty reasonable. I came to happiness nails for the very first time yesterday. I had made an appointment to get my acrylics off. When the nail tech started to rip off my acrylics, I told her I didn't want that. I said I wanted the soak off method which is better and healthier for your nails. She told me no it would be 30 minutes and I said that's okay I will wait. She kept ripping my nails off that caused me pain. Even though I told her I wanted them soaked off. I was mad and after, she left my cuticles and nails a disaster. After all of that I had to pay $10 just for her to rip all my nails off! I could have done that at home. I am extremely disappointed and will never be going back. Complete waste of time and money. Called ahead and made an appointment and requested to have both my nails and toenails done at the same time. If they couldn't have done it, they should've told me that ahead of time. I only had a certain amount of time to go get my nails done. I arrived and had to wait 20 minutes to start getting service that's not that big of a deal, but no one came to start on my fingernails until 45 or 50 minutes after my actual appointment time. I ended up just telling the girl to do a regular pedicure instead of a gel pedicure because at that point, it was completely wasting my time I didn't even have her do polish and she charged me the same as she would for a pedicure. My daughter and I like to go here because it is so close to our house and reasonably priced, but the actual experience is not very good. The workers love to talk bad about customers right in front of them, in a different language. They also are often too rough and focus on hurrying you out. I share most of the sentiments expressed in the bulk of the reviews for this place. There are a few super sweet technicians. They do a nice job painting and are often meticulous with their gel manicure. Their conscientious attention to the paint application usually results in a manicure which lasts for 10-14 days, easily. That being said, I give 5 stars for most of their work. I've lived in Encinitas for over a year now and have frequented this nail shop at least 15 times. There are several chairs, if you make an appointment you'll get sat more quickly, if not you'll still get sat within 15-20 minutes. It's true the pedicure says "10 minute foot massage" and you definitely don't get that. They will rush you along, and I usually don't feel "relaxed" there are usually several women talking, loudly, on their cellphones and the nail technicians will speak Vietnamese the ENTIRE time. But, this isn't an anomaly in a nail shop. They will entertain pleasant conversation if you initiate and maintain it. All in all, in North County, I will always choose Happiness Nails. There is ample parking, it's clean, you can bring in a bottle of champagne and have a chat with a girl friend, your husband or boyfriend and you'll get a nice mani or pedi and you will pay a competitive price not too pricey and not cheap either. This was my first time back in a nail salon in 8 months and i was really looking forward to a nice pampering. It's tough... wearing a mask and all.. but worth it to get your nails and toes done and feel a little normal again. That said, I've definitely had better foot massages and I got the powder dip for my nails and the top coat started peeling back after one week! If I hadn't paid so much I would have given three stars but it was expensive and dissapointing for my first time there. I don't understand why there are so many negative reviews! If anything, the only reason this salon does not get a 5-star rating is because they are always so busy when I come in that they cannot accomodate me and I have to come back at another time (I am not big on making appointments b/c my schedule fluctuates so much). I've learned the best time to come in is on a Saturday and this works best for me because it is literally down the street from me and I could walk there if I had too. Normally, I will go to a salon in Del Mar b/c it is closer to my office and it's more of a convenience thing, but I enjoy going to this salon because: 1) They do a good job - they take their time and don't rush and it always turns out great! 2) They are efficient and quick and will do a great job while getting me in and out of there promptly. 3) Their prices are a good $10-$15 cheaper than any other salons in the area! I was happy. I only had a limited amount of time so I walked in t get a nail and toe polish change. They charge 7$ for each. That's reasonable especially if they do a good job. I had Lou, he was nice, didn't speak much but was friendly and efficient. He filed and oiled and cleaned and did a nice polish job. I do have a couple chips the day after because I don't think he cleaned them well before applying. He put oil on than didn't thoroughly clean them with acetone which is key to have a long lasting polish. The place was busy, the owner seemed stressed and paced the floor. I also noticed the spa bath wasn't lined with plastic so that means that sanitizing the pedi spa isn't done properly. The owner just rinsed it out for the next client. read more

I called in to make an appointment with Holly at 5pm on a weekday for a mani pedi bc coworkers and friends have recommended her. I met Holly and she was so friendly and pleasant to talk to. I asked for short nails bc I love short nails and she was so accommodating!!! Everything was perfect. She didn't rush or anything. She took her time with my nails and I appreciate that.
