Service was friendly but these rooms really need updating. Lots of rust on light fixtures. Our bath towels had holes in them. The spring mattress was so uncomfortable. I wouldn't stay here again.

I loved my stay here in November! Room 209 was quite comfortable with 2 beds and a great kitchenette. The sheets and towels were awesome and the bathroom toiletries were very nice. The location is top notch / easy walk to the beach, village and even the supermarket. Desk staff were so helpful with restaurant recommendations which were also so walkable! I felt very safe as a solo female and I'm definitely staying here again.

Cozy older motel offering clean rooms that are dog friendly & near Heiser park & the best of Laguna Beach, Nice pool & communal fireplace area. Well run & well located on the N. Coast Highway although it can be very noisy. The only rooms I do not recommend are on the street level , noisy, dark basement rooms with little light and lots of noise from your neighbors above. We spent our first night in one of these and requested a room change the following morning. We were pleasantly surprised that they could accommodate us and our new room which was across from the pool made the rest of our stay much more desirable.

First the good news - the location is great. Close to the ocean and the wonderful oceanfront parks. Also a short walk to downtown LB and the many restaurants and shops. The staff is super friendly, enthusiastic and helpful. The prices are reasonable and the pool area is very inviting. Now for the not so good. Our room 206, while relatively quiet since it was a bit further from the very busy PCH is in need of major updating. This isn't shabby chic but worn out and tired. The shower head was broken and hanging down, you had to jiggle the toilet handle to stop it from running, the light fixtures are rusty, the frig and AC were loud. I guess this is why this place is relatively inexpensive for the pricey LB but a bit of reno would really help.

My wife and I spent the weekend here while visiting our daughter in nearby Dana Point. It's best to approach the hotel from the south on PCH. Parking is extremely tight with limited spaces. The several times we came and went though we always found a place to park. Our corner room had most everything we needed including a soft and comfy king size bed, refrigerator, hair dryer and a walk-in shower. There were signs though of water damage on the ceiling and the melamine closet was warped and in need of replacing. Our two nights though were relaxing and we slept well. The surprise though is their awesome pool area. We had no idea it was so nice in there until we walked through the gate and looked around. There were numerous chaise lounges, a bar with stools, pool toys in a box all surrounding a salt water pool. Tucked into a corner was an outdoor gas fireplace that we enjoyed both evenings we were there. There were overhead party lights that provided a nice ambiance to it all. Well done.

Dirty rusted light fixture in restroom

Recently stayed at The Tides Laguna Beach, the best thing about the place was the location and the pool was heated. The room could have been used a better cleaning and there are certainly things that need to be replaced like the rusted shower curtain rod and the rusted light fixture in the restroom. The bed was somewhat comfortable but it could have been that I was just exhausted from a long day. I have had worse experiences at other hotels but until they get their act together here, I probably won't be staying here again.

Nice separate room with 2 double beds. Omg the mattress and bedding with pillows was so comfortable. Hard to get out of bed !! lol

Excellent experience. Great heated pool and nice clean quaint rooms with nice amenities and service. Anderson at the front desk was so nice too. Walking distance to the beach and restaurants and pavilions. A+++ nice rates too

the tv doesn't work & no hot water in room 214: 08-21/22-21

Room 214 is spacious and the bed is very comfortable no matter if your head is towards head board or at the foot of the bed. The wooden chairs and tables fit our pizza box and we sat with 2 plates and soda bottles with no problem. The kitchenette had 2 glasses and a couple plates. 2 coffee mugs and 2 bottles of water complimentary. Our fridge was clean and working. Spooky painting inside the room {doesn't face the bed but its weird}. The toilet is extremely small and low to the ground and not 5'9 friendly at all. The sink and the shower are also miniature. Parking spots were spacious and most were visible from our door. Drink and snack vending machines were on site. Friendly staff.

Unbelievable views and excellent lunch. Ask for a window seat and it's advisable to make a reservation in advance.

The service was excellent and can see that staff takes great care and attention to making sure everything is taken care of. We very much appreciated all the amenities this inn had to offer such as the welcome drink, evening cookies (delicious!), sauna, sunblock at the pool, towels, lovely breakfast.. all complimentary (breakfast with resort fee). We also appreciated the 10% military discount. We stayed in room 23 which was a standard queen bed with garden view and liked that spot because it felt central, private, and quiet. The room is on the smaller side but it was fine. It does not have a fridge but they provide an ice bucket. We ended up putting our bottled waters on top of the AC box and that kept it cool. Being that the inn is beautifully historic, there weren't many outlets inside the room. The bath robes were very plush. Both lamp shade knobs didn't seem to turn properly but we made it work somehow. Otherwise, we felt well taken care of throughout our stay and so glad we came. Aside from the inn, there is a walk to get to Victoria Beach. We walked south along Coast Highway to Victoria Place and found the underpass from there. We also took the free trolley outside of the hotel to get around town. It could be quite a wait for the trolley as we waited 30 mins. There is a QR code on the sign to track the trolley locations.

One pleasant surprise was the salsa--it was fresh, flavorful, and had an authentic homemade taste. The mango turmeric lemonade tasted fresh, healthy, and refreshing. My room appeared to be next to what sounded like a utility or service room, and there was loud equipment noise running throughout the entire night. Sleeping was nearly impossible. I reached out to the hotel by both text and email after my stay and was told the matter would be looked into. It has now been over a week with no follow-up or resolution whatsoever. For the rates Surf & Sand charges, guests should not be placed in rooms with constant overnight noise issues, and concerns should certainly not be ignored afterward. Very disappointing experience from a hotel that presents itself as a luxury property.

I researched every hotel I could find that was within walking distance to the beach in Laguna. I was not sure what to expect since reviews were a little inconsistent. I was very impressed by the ambiance of this hotel! It's gorgeous! It's warm, tropical and beachy. Very unlike a chain hotel. There were a lot of beautiful details that made the hotel unique. The bed was very comfortable too. Our room had direct access to the pool and that was a nice feature. Other reviews mention the high cost, I agree, it was costly with additional fees. However it's not an economy hotel. It's directly on the beach and I expected to pay a premium rate because of that. A welcome note and fruit were left in the room upon arrival. The staff were great, Sam checked us in and he was very sweet. There was another young man with long hair that was also very kind (I didn't get his name, he gave great direction on some local shopping). Maria made an amazing champagne spritz and she was also very hospitable. Would stay at Casa Loma again 100%. It was a very pleasant experience!

Cons - Our room was not serviced for our 2 night stay. We removed our dnd sign from 11-3 and no one came. For $600 a night this is wild to me that our mats were still wet and no coffee refilled, I didn't see the cleaning staff once throughout our stay. - There is no true restaurant at this hotel. Bites and drinks but no substantial meals. Wasn't surprising to see takeout bags all throughout the halls. - As others stated $75 a night parking fee is wild but you can take your car out as much as you like since there is no Valet - zero amenities in the room -- you have to pay for toothbrush, no water bottles or even carafes of water. Overall the staff, outside of the lovely check in woman were essentially non existent. No cleaners, and even in the morning there were 2 men but they didn't greet or acknowledge anyone. Again for $300 it would be fine and expected but for $600 and on some days even $1K a night on the 4th of July this is wildly overpriced for what you get.

When I reported the incident, I expected at least a professional investigation and clear communication. Unfortunately, neither was provided. The most frustrating part was the lack of communication from hotel management. I had to follow up seven separate times before receiving any meaningful response regarding my claim. Even then, the information I received was inconsistent and contradictory. One hotel associate told me that security cameras were being reviewed, while another later informed me that there are no cameras in the parking lot at all. This lack of coordination and transparency made an already stressful situation even worse. When the hotel finally responded, they pointed to a limited liability disclaimer allegedly printed on the parking placard. However, the placard I was given was already torn when I received it, and I was never asked to read, acknowledge, or sign anything related to parking liability. Using a damaged placard as evidence that guests were properly informed feels misleading and raises serious concerns about how these policies are communicated. While I understand that hotels may have policies limiting liability, I expected better security measures, more professional communication, and a genuine effort to assist a guest whose property was damaged on-site. Instead, I encountered delays, conflicting information, and a complete lack of accountability. Based on this experience, I would strongly encourage future guests to exercise caution when parking here and to carefully document the condition of their vehicle and any parking materials they receive. The hotel's handling of this situation has left me with little confidence in its commitment to guest service and customer care.
