Happ's Place is such a great spot in the mountains with an amazing atmosphere for both adults and families. The indoor and outdoor spaces are beautiful, and the outdoor games like putt-putt make it a fun place to spend a few hours. They usually have live music on the stage (though not on the Tuesday we visited), which adds to the experience. The food was excellent. The tomato basil soup was incredibly flavorful, and the Caesar salad paired perfectly with it. My friends ordered pizzas that looked just as delicious, with fresh ingredients and great flavor. The cocktails were also outstanding--well-crafted, balanced, and some of the best we've had in the area. Whether you're looking for a relaxing meal, drinks with friends, or a fun outing with family, Happ's Place is definitely worth a visit. We'll be back! read more

Been twice. The pizzas are really good - we were a bit surprised to find this quality in remote NC. We tried the pepperoni pizza and a mushroom/garlic pizza. Our house overwhelmingly like the mushroom pizza over the pepperoni, not because the pepperoni was bad, but the mushroom was so good. The outdoor dining area is amazing, especially with children. Even without children it was a nice experience. The service was attentive. Full bar and a good beer selection. What a fun place! We were surprised at how large this place actually is when we walked in. We came in with our dog and the patio area was large with its own bar. Everyone was so sweet to us and our dog. A bowl of water was brought out right away. We loved the beer selection and the cocktails. We shared a pizza and it was pretty good. I would say everything was a little on the pricier side, but the atmosphere made up for it. I would love to come back on the weekends where they have bands to check it out next time. We sat in the expansive back yard, and dining area, and it was kind of chilly, so the Mgr. Started the huge fireplace for us! So nice.... Just opened, the new version of Happs is a welcome addition to the area. The original dining room is restored along with the addition of a bar in front. The main attraction is the back indoor/outdoor area. It has a huge bar, fireplace, dining tables & outdoor astroturf play area with corn hole boards. An entertainment band stand is nearly complete as well. In cooler weather the two open sides have electric clear curtain walls that can be lowered to keep you warm. The initial menu is pizza or a choice of three entree's. It looks kind of minimal at first but turned out very well. Choose from Beef Stroganoff, Walnut Crusted Trout or Chicken & Dumplings. The trout was outstanding with toasted walnuts and maple flavoring. Each main item comes with Kale & Squash salad (with pumpkin seeds, goat cheese & blackberry balsamic vinegar). Also, you get sides of fried okra, squash casserole & blackeyed peas. All served family style so there is plenty to eat. So your only decision is your entree choice. Only con was the wine pour was on the short side. Great service & I look forward to returning. read more

Happs Place is one of my top five restaurants in the Sapphire area! The atmosphere is the absolute best in the area! Their back room, which is completely covered in the winter, is warm, comfortable and allows dogs! The food is very good, flavorful and reliable, but do not expect NYC style pizza. The chef uses interesting combinations and is adventurous with his specials! Next time I want to try the burger! Heard it's delicious! I was so pleased I had to leave a review upon making it home tonight. First the place is absolutely stunning. Although the front of the building is extremely nice and fitting, I was not expecting to open the doors to such beautiful architecture. This was the first thing I smiled to. The second was the amount of love in that place. The workers were so inviting and were happy to be there and amongst each other like family. Last but not least, the food and drinks were impeccable. I'm so happy to have stopped to grab a bite to eat, I would have missed this! I talked about the place alllll the way home with my husband. We throughly enjoyed ourselves. Figured we'd find a local burgers and wings place on our drive, and we were half right. Happ's Place "barn and grill" was an awesome find and very local in Glenville. From pizza to pecan crusted trout, you will get a great meal, superb service and wonderful ambiance in a extra large fire pit covered porch. Full bar with a killer "frozen old-fashioned". Our server "Sammi" was very engaging and helpful. Btw, the porch is dog-friendly! The specials are a bit pricey, but there are a range of options for lower costs. The trout and pork chop were worth every bit of the expense. This was a serendipitous discovery early in a long and winding mountain drive. I hope you are as fortunate! read more

We enjoyed our dinner for two with live music from The Remnants at Happ's Place. The service was attentive and well timed. We started with cold cocktails and a large, fresh Caesar salad. The pecan crusted filet of trout was tender and tasty, accompanied by Southern crispy okra and green beans. We also tried the 'hand held' chopped smokey and tender brisket sandwich and tater tots with a special remoulade-like dipping sauce. The manager and friendly server Macey checked on us multiple times as the outdoor covered patio filled up all around us with couples, families and singles playing golf and cornhole. Rock and roll started at 6PM and was not too loud to carry on our conversation but just loud enough to sing along an old favorite tune or two. We must have waited too long to order dessert because the kitchen ran out of both bread pudding and blueberry pie! We were offered a complimentary alternative- now that is customer friendly! I stopped in for lunch on my way to Lake Glenville on a Thursday. Staff was incredibly friendly and showed me to the back area/bar for service. The ambiance was fantastic with an open air feel but it was a little too windy and cool for windows to be open. The floor to ceiling clear covers worked perfectly to allow tons of natural sunlight while keeping the temperature comfortable. I had a delicious oven baked pizza and fantastic blueberry margarita. The pizza was quite large and I had enough to take home for dinner!! I really enjoyed this place and highly recommend. Hope to visit again soon!! read more

The food here is delicious. I had my rehearsal dinner at this location and was served pizza. Was able to try a variety of pizzas that they have to offer and they were all delicious. The servers were great and helped out with everything. We were in a small room off to the side so it was just my group. But they do have a larger space with a fire pit and live music playing when we were there. Very good place to go to relax and enjoy good food. read more

Happy was recommended by our Innkeeper at the Innisfree Inn. We arrived and were seated quickly at a high top for two. Drinks were fast and we placed our order. Menu was limited for a new restaurant with family style service for some interesting sides. Then we waited. And waited. Finally after 40 minutes, the owner/manager came by and apologized and said they were working on it and it was coming. He said he'd comp our drinks. After an hour, my pecan crusted trout arrived with my wife's shrimp PO boy. My trout was unseasoned and the amazing grits underneath were just a swath across the plate. Her frozen and fried shrimp were okay and bread was good. The potato side was exceptional but fried okra and slight burnt leek bread pudding were questionable. After all, the very kind manager comped this meal and we tipped the overworked waitress well. I'd give this place a while to develop their menu and work out kinks with kitchen staff and wait staff. Mixed review but thanks to owner for recognizing they want and can do better! read more

Great pizza!! I recommend reservations during the Summer season. The new addition in the back has a big square bar, walls covered with televisions on all the significant sporting events of the day, a big fireplace, and put-put and games beyond the eating area for the kids. . It's fun!! And you can bring your dog!!! The appetizers, salads and sandwiches are all very good too. Super upscale casual!! read more

I hate to mark this down. I ordered the pizza. It was ok. One guy on the One nite app gave it an 8.7. I'd give it a 5. Very thin. Not crispy or very chewy. Sauce was good and tangy. Very, very small pizza for the price, even for up here. Limited toppings. No green bell pepper, only roasted red pepper. No white onion, only red onion or sautéed onion.
