We went to Happy Cafe because of the rating on Yelp. As soon as we walked in, we were a little concerned. Very small. Space looks like it could have been an office at one time. But we decided we would trust Yelp reviews. I ordered kung pao chicken & my husband ordered twice cooked pork. My chicken was a tad rubbery, but I ate the vegetables that weren't to bad. My husband's dinner was mostly cabbage. He had a hard time picking out the pork. We added on wontons since we're were still hungry and too tired to drive anywhere else. By the time we got back to our hotel room, we were both sick. We were so sick, that it made for a VERY long drive home the next day. Needless to say, we will not be back. read more

Decided to try a new Chinese spot & after today.. it's our new favorite. Even tho they were busy, they attended us right away for take out. We ordered 3 different entrees, the house fried rice and the hot and sour soup. We have never had such bland Chinese food. The house fried rice had very little in it and did not have flavor. It seemed like plain white rice with brown food coloring. The hot and sour soup was neither hot or sour. This place has been crossed off our list. read more

We called in our order that way it would be a faster pick up. We ordered crab meat Rangoon for an appetizer. Really good lunch and dinner entrees for the price. Lunch is about $7 and dinner about $9. I have never received bad service from them and they are always friendly with me and guest. I really like their sweet and sour chicken but I would recommend to get the sauce on the side because they do go heavy on the sauce. But how crispy the chicken is and how fresh the veggies are is great. Personally I like the veggies being under cook for the crunch. The fried rice is ok but I do enjoy that a wonton and eggroll comes with it. And they are fast for a quick lunch with your hubby. read more

Good Chinese in Hollister, my girlfriend and her fam enjoy going there. Prices are reasonable and tea/soup is included. The only qualm that I have is they do not tell you what type of soup they are bringing you beforehand (egg flower / hot and sour) but you can ask them and they will tell you. -Anthony This is my favorite Chinese restaurant that I have been to so far. My favorite part about it is that you can order a single dinner plate that comes with soup, an entree, fried or steamed rice, an eggroll, and two wontons. I have been eating here every two weeks for months since discovering this place after moving here to Hollister, and typically have had an enjoyable experience. Tonight was different. I would not recommend this place to anyone with a seafood/shellfish allergy. Despite ordering beef noodle soup, they brought out house noodle soup. Probably because it was 8pm and they had what was left in that pot to sell to me rather than make fresh soup. Unfortunately, I'm allergic to shrimp. I told the waitress and she tried to say I ordered house soup (when I went to pay, my order ticket even had beef noodle soup written down). I told her I wouldn't have, because I'm allergic to shrimp, hence ordering the beef noodle soup. She brought the bowl back to the kitchen. 5 minutes later, the soup comes back. With the same pieces of beef and chicken from the previous soup, but no shrimp. Fortunately, I'm not an anaphylactic shock allergic reaction type, but my face and neck have way more hives than I am comfortable with. Don't eat here if you have allergies, this will be my last visit there. read more
