This was a classic car hop. Loved the hots and fries but the ol school vanilla root beer float was the best! If I am in the area I will definitely do a return trip.

If you're in the Saratoga area, and you don't feel like driving up to Martha's, you now have a much…read morecloser option. Located on Brown's Beach, it's definitely a great spot for ice cream, especially if you're there on a hot day. As you might expect from the name, they are indeed owned by the same folks who own the Ugly Rooster Cafe's. Their menu offers over 25 flavors of soft-serve. If you prefer hard ice cream, 8 flavors of Perry's are also available. Given how small their site currently is, they can't possibly have dispensers for every flavor. So what I believe they do is make smaller batches of a flavor to order and then dispense it into your cone or cup. For the flavor I ordered, Amaretto, you'd never know that might have been how it was made, the flavor and consistency were quite good, and I'd definitely order it again. And for the inevitable comparisons: Flavors - more of them, probably not changing as frequently, see above on how they can have so many available. Flavor was distinct without being overwhelming. Size - You definitely don't get as much for your order. I'm hoping that as they grow as a business, they can be more cost competitive. Consistency - Maybe not quite as dense; on a very hot day, be prepared to lick fast. Still, this is a great add to the ice cream community. And since I'm more likely to be traveling in this area as opposed to going up to Lake George, this is an easy, "Yes, let's go!" for me.

There's benches in front and on the deck in the back. There's also a grass area on the side with benches or room to bring your own chairs. If you're a soft serve fan, there was a long list of soft serve flavors. Only a handful of Perry's hard ice cream. My husband and I shared the "Let's get Ugly" sundae which was a good size to share. How have I never done a review of Humpty Dumpty?…read more I've been here many times over the years and always grab something cool and refreshing. There's a decent, but not overwhelming, choice of yummy treats to choose from. Need a non-dairy option? No worries! There's usually a dole whip flavor available. I love the traditional pineapple dole whip but the other flavors are good, too. Stop by and get your ice cream!!!

Pros: - the most soft serve flavors in the area…read more- willing to stack flavors - great sundaes - cute seating area - staff is nice - open until 9 pm most evenings Cons: - no hard serve ice cream - items not as described, in particular, the "slush float" (a traditional root beer float is ice cream on the bottom and soda poured on top) is 90% slushie and 10% ice cream put on the top - ice cream began melting prior to receiving it (temp 65° outside) - slow service - parking lot is not safe as the lines are not maintained by line guides Tips: - cash only business We chose Humpty Dumpty due to good experiences previously. We had some challenges on our visit to include slow service and line formation was confusing and awkward as we were in one line going into the drive traffic. We originally ordered a medium soft serve cone and a slush float which was made backwards from the traditional float where the ice cream is placed on the bottom and is usually the equivalent of two scoops of ice cream and then the liquid, so in this instance slush. We received 90% slush and a dollop of ice cream on the top. It was really a major disappointment. Especially, because the slush is $2.50 and a slush "float" is $4.75. That was NOT at $2.75 worth of ice cream. Unfortunately, it was so bad i had to wait in line a second time because my son refused to consume it. When I got to the window, I explained that a float traditionally has the ice cream on the bottom, but this was met with lack of empathy and me paying for another item. The slush "float" was thrown out and the clerk knew it was getting thrown out, but we happily paid full price for our disappointment. I've never heard of a float having the ice cream on the top and wanted to make sure to add this to the review to avoid you having disappointment as well. I'm not doing well at the terms and lingo for this business. I ordered a medium ice cream in a dish to go. I've never seen an ice cream be overflowing like a cone in a dish. Had the medium ice cream melted, it would be everywhere and definitely did not fit the dish size. There is a small seating area to the side, but please be careful, the parking lot is not well lit and people will come in at 15 mph and not yield to pedestrians. I don't think we'll be back this season. Maybe next year we can try again. This years staff isn't vibing with our expectations.

I never did, but I happened…read moreto hear about Stewart's Shops when researching what to do in Vermont, so I figured we had to try one out. I gather they began in Saratoga Springs, NY, and moved into Vermont, as well. We tried this one across the street from the Saratoga Springs Hilton where we stayed, and it was very clean inside (according to my husband who went inside). I had also read they have terrific ice cream, so guess what, we tried some. I stupidly left it up to my husband to "surprise me," and while they are known for amazing flavor choices, and thinking he KNOWS how I like unusual and interesting flavors, he walks out with a mix of vanilla and chocolate. Are you kidding me? It was especially difficult for me to keep my mouth shut because I was pissed off, but he was kind enough to get it for me and bring it out, so I could just wait in the car. I have to say, though, I quickly went from anger at the boring ice cream flavors to extreme enjoyment because it was some of the BEST vanilla and chocolate ice cream I had ever eaten. Truly delicious. I was definitely thinking we'd get some different flavors at other Stewart's Shops in the ensuing days of our travels, but as many as we ended up seeing along our way, we never did stop at any. Don't know why, but we didn't, and so, this was our only time to enjoy their wonderful ice cream !! Next time we are in the area of a Stewart's Shop, I will make sure we can get more ice cream. It's divine.

Of all the Stewarts in downtown Saratoga, this is my favorite. It's bigger inside, which makes more…read moreroom for additional shelving of junk food. The ceilings are high and the parking lot is shaded, giving it an oddly stately ambience. And it's less crowded so more chance to grab a seat when I come in for my deli dogs. (though there's also less seating... minus one star for that.) If you're in town for a convention, go across the street and savor a scoop of local history. Stewart's headquarters is nearby in Greenfield, and the Dake family is a big supporter of local groups and activities.
