Halfway through a breakfast burrito with sausage
    Mark G.

I've been coming here for years. It's wonderful, but yelp always forgets to tell me it's here when I'm scanning the neighborhood for som delicious, low-key eats. They do a great movie-set-food-truck-style Breakfast Burrito. For lunch, I usually get the teriyaki combo - a huge plate of beef, chicken, rice, and veg with a side of kimchi. There is a small shady outdoor eating area, but it's right on the boulevard, so it's hardly luxurious. But who cares? There are even a couple free off-street parking places around the back. Place is run by a nice Korean lady who always remembers me. Keep an eye out for their occasional KimChi chicken - it's intense. Breakfast Burrito Chicken Teriyaki Bowl House Kimchi Tuna Melt

Good fries but the chili cheese fries are where it's at!

Went here for lunch twice while on jury duty with co-jurors. The cashier, who seemed to be running the place, was sweet & the food was just what I wanted. Comfort & indulgence. Yesterday I got the kraut dog (no onions) combo & upgraded to chili cheese fries. Total was $14 for hot dog, soda and chili cheese fries. It was way better than the lunch I got Friday at another place down the street that cost me over $18 & left me unsatisfied. I was totally stuffed after I had the fries, they give you a lot of chili and cheese. The hot dog wasn't anything fancy but it was just what I was looking for. Today I had the tuna melt on rye with fries & a soda (& I remembered to take pics!). The tuna was savory (no sweet relish) & had a nice lemony tang. It was really good & tasted super fresh. That meal was a little over $15. There are so many things on the menu to choose from & I think I'd be happy with just about anything I ordered based on what other jurors & courthouse staff said. Both days,, the wait to order & get food wasn't long, though yesterday 1 co-juror, who ordered before me, had to check up on her order because several of us got our food before her. I think it may have just been because of what she ordered. When she got it, it was hot, fresh & delicious looking (and she said it was good). Some foods take longer to prepare than others. I live about 40 minutes from here & would go back for the chili cheese fries alone. Oh yeah and the tuna melt! There's a patio on the side where we sat today. It was nice to eat & just relax outside after being in the courtroom all morning. If this place was close to my house I'd probably be there several times a week. Yup, I liked it THAT much!

    This blt is so delicious

You have to try their Blt it's so good. The bacon was crispy, the sour dough bread was lightly toasted and the lettuce and tomato was fresh

Seriously mediocre hotdogs. I was expecting some mind blowingly good hotdogs but they were just your regular ones, rather salty and the buns were the kind you buy from your local grocery store. However the sauerkraut was fantastic. I think what really gives this place its unique disposition is the fact that they serve everything.... Korean bbq, Mexican food, hotdogs of course, sandwiches, Japanese teriyaki..... there is something for everyone... and for that they get an extra star. Just don't go out of your way to eat here -- you'll be disappointed. If you're in the area, then stop by.... it's kinda neat.

Worst hot dogs in the 818. Not that we have many choices. AM/PM dogs are better. Try Fab Dogs or Cupids.

Portillos is too far away down in Buena Park to get there on an afternoon. About a year ago in a Reddit community the owner of this place said it was going to be opening and I had not gotten over yet. I made my way by about three weeks ago and was so disheartened. I didn't even want to leave a review. The Italian beef was on the wrong kind of bread so it got soggy, there was next to no beef on the beef sandwich, and the gravy was bland and greasy. And $17. It would have been a bad sandwich at $7. At $17 a complete rip off. It needed at least double the beef to get half way to a reasonable price at $17. This beef sandwich is an abomination and an insult. The Chicago dog, was lackluster. If it was a Vienna Beef dog and I can't be sure, it was a lower grade one. The cost for the Chicago dog was $9. Also far too much for a single hotdog. Even if the overheard requires that kind of mark up, I just can't support the place. Hope the owner is sending secret shoppers in to order at the same pace when they aren't there. Because the QC is not there. Another spot to not go to. I'm lease someone open a Chicago style hotdog beef stand that is actually good. You can and will make a killing. Too many of us here.

There's music that's lively without being overbearing, and the staff is uniformly friendly. But... You have to order at the bar and, though they have runners to bring your food, you do have to hunt them down for anything after the delivery (extra ketchup, etc). While this isn't my favorite system at my age, to be fair, whatever the owners are saving on staff is reflected in the prices, which are absolutely below most places in the area for food that is good-quality and drinks that are generously poured. So yes, my wife's Espresso Martini was served in a deep-bellied Belgium beer glass, and my whiskey neat was a hefty pour. Yay!! For food, I ordered the Smash Burger, which is served with melted American, grilled onions and the house version of Russian dressing (as well as pickles, which I deleted). The burgers had a nice, smashed crust while remaining juicy, the cheese was properly melted, and the grilled onions had a terrific caramelized sweetness, while the house sauce was very well-balanced: ketchupy and creamy without being too mayonnaise-heavy. A very good smasher. My wife ordered the Big Texan Burger because she wanted cheddar and frizzled onions and BBQ sauce, though she deleted the bacon and pork belly that are normally included. This, too, was a very good burger: cooked to a proper and pleasing medium-rare and well-seasoned, with a good, fresh flavor to the beef. The onion rings were less successful, which are of the beer batter type, but seemed to be a commercial, frozen product. The coating was browned but not crisp, and the flavor was relatively nondescript. We didn't really eat them, and wouldn't order them again. And so, to me, The Tipsy Cow is a bit of a mixed bag: reasonably priced decent food and reasonably priced, generously-poured drinks -- but in a mostly self-serve environment that incrementally loses its appeal in relation to your age and your dining circumstances. Certainly worth a try, but you've gotta be in the right mood.

I had a dirty fork, asked for a clean one, immediately received, with an apology. The salt shaker has food on it. I guess I don't need salt. Underneath the music selector box(es), someone needs to clean there too. Under mine, were crumbs and tidbits of dust and such. The table next to us, has a balled up piece of paper. :( We ordered, about 15 mins later we received our food. I got handed my toast with either my husband's or my son's gravy under the toast plate (he explained that it probably dipped into one of their plates) and now gravy on three of my fingers. (I had this once happen to me from another restaurant where it was avocado and none of us ordered avocado.) So I'm traumatized with how food is served to me, like in a "were the dishes washed" aspect. This accident happened luckily in front of our server. He changed/cleaned my toast plate then gave me back my toast. We all had coffee. Coffee service was above and beyond and always topped off. Food was very nice and exactly as requested. This place is very expensive. You might think, it's comparable! I say it is not. I believe it's slightly above, where adding a side of meat, was 5.49 (which I refused to do) and for the money people are spending there, they should be "spotless clean". That's my take and my rating averages 3 stars, with the clean being a one star. They can do better with all the worker bodies moving around. This appears to be pure laziness.
