These are the same folks who had the amazing fried chicken over in NoHo on Lankershim. Place is tiny, parking isn't the greatest. Very hole in the wall typical Mexican spot with walls painted, artwork, etc. The fried chicken though same amazing chicken that we used to get at their old spot. Only problem I had is once I showed up (from Sylmar 30 minutes away) at 6:45 and they said their fryer was already shut off for 7:00pm closing. I get it but maybe lock the doors or something if you really aren't going to take orders. Otherwise we will continue to get their yummy chicken at least once a month. read more

After 23 years in L.A., I've discovered this tiny place serves the best chicken quesadilla in town and it was right down the street for the last 11 of them. Their green sauce is delicious, too. I haven't tried anything else cuz I'm addicted to the quesadilla, but I've seen some of the other items and they look delicious. I'm no Mexican food connoisseur; in fact, it's almost never my first choice when asked, "Where do ya wanna eat?" but I love a love a good quesadilla with green sauce and this hidden gem has my back. There's always someone who speaks English on staff, too, if that's a concern. I took off a star cuz it's aesthetic could use an upgrade, it's always hot as blazes in there and the parking is pretty terrible (I order to go), but don't let that scare you off. I love this place. The food is GREAT, the prices are even better, and the people who work there are super friendly. They have tacos for $1 every day. That's an excellent deal! I go here all the time for lunch. The lady who cooks the food is so used to me that she will start making my food as soon as I walk in sometimes. That's good service. Sometimes there's a bit of a wait if they're really busy or if they're getting a big order for delivery, but it's worth it. You can get delivery through Postmates, by the way. I usually just go in. After a long day at work, I decided to fill my stomach with what was missing during my lunch hour. I wanted a Taco Truck feeling, but at the same time go to a place my mother goes once-in-awhile. Al Pastor here I come...... The location of House of Taco is between Varna and Woodman. Its located near the Laundromat and almost next to the wash (LA River Connector). I walked in around 9:20pm to an empty store. Most of the customers were probably in earlier doing their laundry and now drying and loading their cars. I ordered my favorite...Al Pastor Burrito with No Chile ($4.50). My total was $4.93. The wait was about 5-6 minutes. My order came and it was on a plate. I forgot to say to go...OOPS. They went ahead and wrapped it in foil. They added more chips and radishes. YUMMMO!!! Burrito is quite big (That's what she said). I still had spice in it, but it didn't quite burn my tongue like the Taco Trucks in Castaic did. Radishes were my favorite side to eat to help calm my mouth if there was still spice in it. Usually helps anyways. The place is still good to go. I haven't been here in awhile and I remember uploading their menu probably a year ago. If I can Give less than a one star I would this is a horrible experience that I experienced at this taco place so I ordered chicken and fries from my job and when I got home it was all burnt like the oil was old and the fries looked really really old and dark so I called the owner and let them know the circumstance the chicken was in and they said I've sold 10 chickens thus far and you're the only one that's complained if that's not horrible customer service I don't know what is I let them know that I would take them the pictures tomorrow because I was unable to go back there since it's a little bit out of my way the lady said just come back now and I'll give you your money I said if that was possible I'd be at your location right now I will go ahead and go tomorrow and show you the pictures so you can see my proof so the next day comes that I go and take her the pictures she says the pictures don't do anything for me what can I do with the pictures so she gave me the money back with an attitude this poor excuse of an owner is honestly Such an awful asset to the business I will go ahead and attach the pictures see you can see the poor condition of the chicken how can anybody eat that chicken that's awful I had to feed that that to my kids obviously I had to go elsewhere . This is the real deal. Small, bright colored, and delicious. They don't speak any english here at all and that's totally cool. They have some of the best platters out there and they are very very cheap. They have a chili relleno and taco platter that are to die for and if your in the mood, Menudo can be made on request. I used to stop here when I lived in Van Nuys when I was doing my laundry next door. There were never more than 2 people at a time in the restaurant so I could always find a seat, and the lady at the counter always remembered me.... maybe because I was the only asian she met who spoke spanish. In any case, totally stop here but don't go in groups and don't go at night, kinda a shady area. But during the day totally stop here for a quick bite. Enjoy! read more

I had a craving for a Chile Relleno burrito and found this place quickly on Google. It's a small "hole in the wall" type of restaurant, so I'll take the authenticity of the food over other small deviations. My friend wasn't familiar with chile relleno but the woman behind the counter asked questions & customized the dish to my friends needs. The burrito was delicious, as well as the rice & beans. Okay .. so maybe I'll have to check this place out again.. BUT my first experience here wasn't all that great.. I went with my mom and brother, we didn't order anything out of the ordinary. . I got a burrito, my mom some tacos, and my brother a Carne Asada plate.. KEEP IN MIND WE WERE THE ONLY PEOPLE IN THE RESTAURANT!! So whyyyyy did we have to wait almost 25 minutes? That's ridiculous! So instead of really complaining, I thought "hmmm the food here must be good because theyre taking so long, it must be fresh" .. I get home and the food wasn't that great, I might as well have opened my freezer and have gotten out a FROZEN BURRITO! .. But hey! The main reason I come here is for the 1/2 chicken with fries. I havent tried any of the other plates. If you remeber Sirloin Burger that was located in North Hollywood on vanowen and lankersheim they use to sell a 1/2 chicken with fries. I read a tip on yelp that the same type of 1/2 chicken was also sold at House of Taco. I can confidetly state the 1/2 chicken taste like the one Sirloin Burger use to sell back in the day in North Hollywood. Even the fries taste the same. First off, the area in front of and the area to the side of this place stinks like there is a rotting corpse. Upon further investigation, I found overflowing used oil tanks causing the rotting smell. At this point, I contacted the Los Angeles County Department of Health with a complaint and they said they don't have a record of any food establishment by the name: "House of Taco" at the address of 13521 Sherman Way Unit G. On weekends they make homemade tortillas but they often sell out. I enjoy their taquitos Dorado's. I've also had their Chiles rellenos. Both have been very good.
