The first thing you notice is the smelll of charbroiled chicken in the air. smells really good! Kind of weird that it was completely empty during lunch, but maybe people just haven't caught on yet. What cracked me up was all Hispanic guys behind the grill lisitening to 1950s rock 'n' roll and bebop playing in the background. something you don't see or hear every day.. I kept it simple and got the beef bowl since it's my first time. Prices are a little high, so I didn't want to jump straight into a full combo. The bowl came out in about five minutes and it was a good portion. A lot of beef, and it was tender, not dry or chewy. The sauce on top has a sweet and savory thing going on that sticks to the meat, and they didn't skimp on it either. Rice was good, not too wet, not too dry. Overall, Golden Bowl is one of those spots you'd drive right past if you weren't paying attention. That's taking the orders is a very nice lady. I don't know her name, but the food is always perfect. They give a great amount of value for their dishes for the amount of $15. You can get basically half an avocado and probably about two or three maybe about 5 ounces of chicken, which is amazing with steamed rice and teriyaki and these nice roasted chilies you can get on the left side of the drink station. The portions here are quite large, even for a small sized bowl. There is a great portion of beef/chicken whereas other places load the bowl down with a ton of rice and just enough beef/chicken to cover the rice. Back with another edition of "Mall Rat Eatz". This brings me to Golden bowl! It's small chain eatery that serves pretty good stuff at affordable prices. This one was nestled in a small strip mall I believe off of Sherman oaks. I got the Chicken plate with Avocado on it. First off I have to say that they could do better work with the salad haha. Felt like I was eating the whole head of lettuce! Maybe instead of putting like quarter cuts of the lettuce for salad why not cutting it a little more that way it's more manageable when eating. Had a hard time eating it but none the less it was good! The dressing was probably thousand island which isn't to bad or probably a variation of it. I do appreciate the freshness of the lettuce because it gave a nice crunch when I was eating it! Onto the main course which was the chicken, rife and avocado! The avocado was a great addition gave it a nice creamy bite with every chicken and rice fork full! The chicken was good! Juicy and tender with just the right amount of teriyaki sauce hidden under the bed of avocado! Over all the food was great and the price was reasonable! The service was good too but maybe look a little bit more up bit and enthusiastic at work when greeting guests haha I mean I understand I used to work in the food industry for more than 15 years and it's tough to put on a smile and be friendly and accommodating while at work especially when it comes to food!
