My close friend took me here it's at the half way point to his house and stated we are going to a bar that serves food. Totally down played this place! What a little gem! We had the Fried Cauliflower, Black n Bleu Burger and fries. The food was average. Burger was the best part. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was amazing, just look at the pics the inside. Outdoor dining too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was sweet and friendly.

Can't believe I hadn't reviewed this place sooner! I've been coming here for maybe 7-8 years! Service has always been great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Obviously super dog friendly![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The cocktails are super yummy too, so they have options other than beer! Burgers are delicious!

Food was marginal. Service was also marginal. The wine served to me was hot. Bartender told me someone left heater on and wine was 99°. Why would they serve it knowing it was hot. ?I don't think I'll be back.

Overall Bluedog is easy. They serve alcohol now (I feel like before it was just beer and wine) which is great. I wish the menu was a little more diverse (adding onions and real cheese to the chili fries would make them 10000x better) Overall, love having this local bar in walking distance!

Loved the decor here! So many dogs pictures EVERYWHERE! Cheeseburger - Subbed the meat patty for a bean one. Although the burger was delicious, I wish they put some type of condiment on it. Not sure if it was forgotten in the kitchen but once I got some ketchup the burger tasted great! A very classic rendition of a cheeseburger. Comes with fries. They were my favorite type too - crunchy on the outside and super fluffy on the inside. Prices were pretty affordable. The staff were friendly. Definitely coming back here!

Eating on the patio. I should've taken a picture facing the other way. The ambiance is fun. .

Yummy burgers and beer. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice outdoor patio.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Fun to bring your dog to the patio.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They close on the early side so make sure to check the hours before you go.

4/5 for the food, service, and location. My fiance and I were super hungry after going to the beach for a couple of hours, and he found this place, so we decided to check this place out. Food: We ordered the Fried Cauliflower Boneless Wings, Garlic Fries, and the Tri-Tip Burger. The cauliflower was crispy! I loved the portions and the batter stayed on, which was great. The garlic fries were also a perfect crisp. The tri-tip burger was great with the sweet potato fries. I loved the food, it was perfect. Drinks: My fiance ordered a flight and I got the Allagash Curieux. Perfect pairing with our food, highly recommend. Service: We came during Happy Hour and got seated immediately. No complaints, all our servers were super nice. The environment was super chill, so it was nice to be able to have some space to just relax and eat our food. Loved it. Location: Parking can be kind of hard since the lot shares parking with other businesses. I'd recommend coming on the off-peak hours. Otherwise, if you're ok with it, there's street parking and you just have to walk. Will definitely come here again! I like their food and I love all the little polaroid photos of their dogs haha. Great environment.

Blue Dog Beer Tavern Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Blue Dog Beer Tavern

    Do they have Air conditioning?

    Yeah they do inside

    Is it 21+?

    No, it's a family-friendly gastropub.

    Are dogs allowed?

Dogs are very welcome on our outdoor patio!

This came up in my search for a Steelers bar. But I don't see anything about it in the reviews (but didn't read all 1500, I admit). Anyway, is this a good spot to watch a Steelers game in LA?

We have the DirecTV NFL Sunday Ticket on 6TVs. We are "first-come, first-served", so get to the Blue Dog early to get your game tuned in. See you there!

Can someone please let me know if this place is dog friendly? I'm trying to call but no one answers.

I just asked, and yes. Dogs are allowed on patio and service animals inside.

When I went up to order a drink, there was a staff member that was just starting her shift-Sunday 7/20/26 around 1200 noon. She looked around the bar, had someone walk in front of me and served them immediately. She never noticed the line behind me waiting to order (about 5 customers). she never smiled, very indifferent and gave a very negative vibe. We will not be back again. I don't tolerate staff like that. She cancelled out the wonderful staff person that helped us first. She was top notch.

This was my first time at Tipsy Cow, and I have mixed emotions. The atmosphere is casual and…read morefestive, with TV's playing sports and a varied crowd that includes daters, older couples, families and singles making the most of their weekend. There's music that's lively without being overbearing, and the staff is uniformly friendly. But... You have to order at the bar and, though they have runners to bring your food, you do have to hunt them down for anything after the delivery (extra ketchup, etc). While this isn't my favorite system at my age, to be fair, whatever the owners are saving on staff is reflected in the prices, which are absolutely below most places in the area for food that is good-quality and drinks that are generously poured. So yes, my wife's Espresso Martini was served in a deep-bellied Belgium beer glass, and my whiskey neat was a hefty pour. Yay!! For food, I ordered the Smash Burger, which is served with melted American, grilled onions and the house version of Russian dressing (as well as pickles, which I deleted). The burgers had a nice, smashed crust while remaining juicy, the cheese was properly melted, and the grilled onions had a terrific caramelized sweetness, while the house sauce was very well-balanced: ketchupy and creamy without being too mayonnaise-heavy. A very good smasher. My wife ordered the Big Texan Burger because she wanted cheddar and frizzled onions and BBQ sauce, though she deleted the bacon and pork belly that are normally included. This, too, was a very good burger: cooked to a proper and pleasing medium-rare and well-seasoned, with a good, fresh flavor to the beef. The onion rings were less successful, which are of the beer batter type, but seemed to be a commercial, frozen product. The coating was browned but not crisp, and the flavor was relatively nondescript. We didn't really eat them, and wouldn't order them again. And so, to me, The Tipsy Cow is a bit of a mixed bag: reasonably priced decent food and reasonably priced, generously-poured drinks -- but in a mostly self-serve environment that incrementally loses its appeal in relation to your age and your dining circumstances. Certainly worth a try, but you've gotta be in the right mood.

Sherman Oaks is gritty and the section of Ventura Boulevard that houses TLP is almost brutalist in its anti-establishment aesthetic. You would never know it was here if you didn't either live in the neighborhood or seek it out as I did. It is sandwiched between a completely non-descript place that I didn't even look at and a crystals shop with grafitti-etched windows (unfortunately!) but some really cool beads. Inside is the same -- no frills, a dress-down and survive-if-you-dare vibe. My pictures will illustrate what I mean. Nevertheless, the friendly service (shout out to our server, Patrick), the menu, and the quality of the food are well worth it. Again, see what we ordered in the photos attached. Everything was delicious. The floor, tables, and chairs were all clean. There is some kind of post-apocalypse rhumba going on with the ceiling treatment. It is almost reverse-logic art with all the shading (stains? velour movement?) and utilitarian installation it reveals. Love the walls though, and the worn distressed wood everywhere (see the pix, folks). A bonus was watching the Masters (Patrick let us linger) and sitting by a giant window that was open to the street. Parking is up a block or so on either side. We always find safe spots in Sherman Oaks. The music seemed to be one CD of an unknown (to me) vocal artist and was pleasant. The crowd was friendly and the whole atmosphere was like one big homey grunge party. You know those mornings you fall out of bed and almost don't want to change out of your pajamas or yoga threds? This is the place to go. I loved it. (NOTE: You may have to refresh this page twice to see my pictures, for some reason. grrrrrr)

I wish I had read my last review from 9 yrs ago before revisiting this place today…read more Let me tell you about the good things first... this won't take long. Kelley, our server, was a sweetheart. And the glass of wine was a nice pour and a decent wine. I like that they let you in for something to drink before officially opening for the day. Cue record scratch... now about that food. No, we did not order the wrong thing and no, IMO, they were not just having a bad day. Look at these Huevos Rancheros with "house hash, tostadas and 3 eggs"... those are chips (I think from a bag of tortilla chips) so not really a tostada, no way there were three eggs in that thing (from what I could see)... not sure what the "house hash" is but nothing I could identify on the plate. I know a lot of people might leave a restaurant and say "I could have made that at home" but there is no way I would make something this crappy at home. LOOK at this Avocado Toast with "avocado spread"... that is some thin smear of something green but when you are calling something "Avocado Toast" there should be a substantial amount of the hero ingredient (and maybe not call it "avocado spread" on your menu description. To me, that says, "Look we don't want to call this a "rustic mash of avocado" or "Hass smash" or "hand-crushed ripe avocado" because we know you are actually going to SEE it in front of you in about 15 minutes and "avocado spread" won't lead to a major disappointment." But it did. And this slab of dry plywood that they were calling toast. I turned to my wife and in my best Sebastian Manascalco said, "Why would you do that??" This place mostly failed on food. The food at the other tables looked equally pathetic. Gotta say... all of the cooked egg components of each dish were decent but the rest of the items were like WTF? Ambiance? It's OK... I mean it was a bar with a ton of TVs going. Semi-nice vibe for a sports bar... lots of room. Just can't get over the food. We ate about half of our sodium bombs and left. But parts of the eggs were lovely... as was Kelley.
