The burger was flavorful and satisfying, and the cheesesteak was packed with tender meat and great taste. And the fries? Back to being a standout, garlicky, and topped with just the right amount of Parmesan. So garlicky, I was glad we both at them so as not to offend the other! My review for Blue Dog Beer Tavern is probably base on my 2012 visit. lol About 10+ years ago I learned that Blue Dog has one of the best burgers in the San Fernando Valley. During that time I was very open to check out new places and find out if it is, the best burger in the valley. Since then I have visited Blue Dog a handful of times. Not because it isn't good, but more of the convenience factor for me. During those handful of times I have tried different burgers on their menu and also some from their specials. All the burgers were delicious and for a time I claimed that this place, was the best burger in the valley. There was something about pairing a good burger with a nice pint of beer. Just taking a glance at the menu back then comparing to now, it seems that the place has minimized their menu by a lot. The buffalo wings were a bit dry, food was okay to be honest, but I don't have high expectations dining at a bar, it was more for the ambience. I also tried their sour beer which was delcious. The decor was nice in general. I love when breweries use brewery items for decor. It's a small place. We went around or shortly after lunch time on a weekday. There weren't that many people there which was nice. Waitress was nice. Kept checking in on us often. Beer selection is small but good. They have good beer on their menu. So we ordered chili through another waitress who didn't share or place the order herself. The patron behind us also ordered chili, the cheese had mold in it so they took 20 min to bring him a new one. The manager brought it out but was wildly unprofessional, said "oh, didn't know if you wanted onions or sour cream but I put it on there anyway." This is after he had to send it back due to mold. I went inside to order a beer(because our waitress was still so busy) I walk in and we're waiting at the bar for several minutes. Meanwhile, the manager is snacking with hands in his mouth, walking around, not assisting, pouring himself a beverage out of the gun, not helping his staff or customers, just having a nice, relaxing time. Our chili was delivered without moldy cheese(thankfully) but we were still billed for the cheese. All this to say, we will be back, we love our waitress, and the atmosphere.
