Decent basic donuts. Box of a dozen costed about $10-11 which is very reasonable. First time I came in, the selection at around 8:30 was smaller and limited than expected. Second time coming in was National Donut Day a week ago to feed the office. Completely sold out by 8:30am! Disappointing considering they even had a window sign for it. I've lived nearly 5 minutes from Happy Donuts for the past 7+ years and have never tried it... Boy, was I missin' out! My boyfriend and I have decided to make Donut Fridays a thing, and Happy Donuts is the closest. We showed up at 5 am (ugh) and of course, the donut case was full as could be and no other customers in sight. The decor of this place isn't fancy at all - you can tell they haven't updated anything in a while. Lots of old drawings and paintings on the wall. One cute touch that I noticed is that they have a couple photo collages hung up with pictures of regulars, stating how long they've been a regular. They have pretty much every donut you could ever want... I can't even name all of them because there were so many. I ended up getting the ole' rusty trusty... A maple bar; because if your maple bars aren't good, then you're a shitty donut place (in my opinion). And it just so turns out that it was amazing! It was light and fluffy, like a donut should be, and the maple glaze was sooo good. My boyfriend let me try his maple cinnamon pinwheel (just a big round maple glazed donut with cinnamon sugar laced throughout it), and it was such a great twist on a regular maple bar. So good! They also have ANOTHER version of that - basically the same thing but with chopped nuts on top. Only thing that I didn't like about this place was the service. I understand that it was early, but I've worked EARLIER than that in a customer service environment and faked my way through it. I am sad. My friend and I are avid doughnut fans and we were on a quest. We pulled up to an empty parking lot with a sad storefront. I try not to let outter appearances detour me...I shouldn't have gone in. They were out of my favorite doughnuts (first red flag) and when I asked the girl what they were famous for she said she didn't know (second red flag). We ended up getting two chocolate maple bars. Best donuts in Kent? At 7am, there were people inside just hanging out, eating donuts and drinking hot beverages. It was like a small town gathering.
