We were in Puyallup on our way to test drive a car when I saw this donut shop. I told the hubby to pull in I wanted to try a maple bar. When we pulled in we noticed the line out the door. I was excited and thought they must have bomb-diggity donuts. My test for a good donut shop is their maple bars. So before we even got up to the counter, I knew that I would order a "mape" as I call them. My hubby and his family owned a donut shop for 40 years, so we are pretty picky about donuts. The wait wasn't super duper long considering how long the line was, but it wasn't super fast either. Keep in mind we visited on Saturday morning around 10:00 am. Finally our turn to order-- they didn't have any Mapes! What!?! How do you run out of maple bars on a Saturday morning?!? Thoroughly bummed so I got a plain ole twist donut. It was fried nicely and light and fluffy. Not dense and heavy. Overall a good donut but it wasn't a mape, so for this reason they are getting three stars. I was extremely disappointed that I wanted a mape, had my mind set on a mape, and to denied a mape, your star rating will represent such. Would I go back? Absolutely, but they better not be sold out of mapes! read more

There is no donut like a Happy Donut, pure and simple. I've eaten donuts at literally dozens of places in well over a dozen states, and Happy Donuts are my favorite donuts ever, hands down. Any time we get an out of town visitor, taking them for Happy Donuts is a firm tradition. If we don't offer for our repeat guests, they'll ask for it specifically. What's more, the service there is amazing! They're invariably fast, friendly, and courteous. No disrespect to any of the other lovely donut shops around the area, but we'll always drive we'll out of our way to get Happy Donuts instead when its time for a donut fix. read more

We LOVE Happy Donuts! Seriously the best donuts I've had from any state we've lived in...and that's quite a few. The yeast donuts are light and fluffy and melt in your mouth and their cake donuts magically have that perfect little crisp on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside without any greasiness. My absolute favorite is the Blueberry Cake Donut. Must try. In addition to all this gloriousness?! The staff and owners are so nice and attentive. My daughter requested Happy Donuts as her classroom birthday treat, so we called the day before and placed an order for pickup. Not only were the donuts fresh and ready to go as promised, the owner threw in a free bag of donut holes when they found out it was her birthday!
