I will say this is a good option if you live on the south end of south hill/graham area as they have sushi. The only down side to my yellow tail roll there were pieces of bone that I had to spit out. The California rolls is good just a basic roll. I ordered kids bento and didn't realize it came with so much! Some of the chicken pieces were burnt so I had to pick it out. My overall complaint is as I was eating there's lots of random fuzz on the food I had to remove so not sure if they are very cleanly. Would I try this again? It's been a number of years since my last visit to Happy Bento and I'm so happy to have reintroduced it into my rotation. The rolls, nigiri, bento boxes, and teriyaki are perfect in flavor, texture, and satisfaction. Service is friendly and consistent which makes for a wonderful experience. The restaurant has a decent number of tables and our 7:30pm arrival for 4, had no delay in being seated. I highly recommend the hamachi heavenly roll. I ordered a few things from here last week: I love California rolls, my boyfriend loves the Tonkatsu ramen, and we also ordered a side of gyoza and crab rangoons. It was a to-go order. I go home with the food after I picked it up, and tons of stuff were missing; we ordered extra meat and made it spicy, and it didn't have extra meat. We were also missing both appetizers. I went back to the restaurant the next day after calling about the issue, and I had asked for it to be remade, and then they charged me full price for everything! Never coming here again. read more

If it's one thing my husband and I know it's NEVER go somewhere with an insane extravagant menu. We went against everything we knew. We gave this place a try and we were proven correct. Not to go where there is a huge menu. The food was so bland, that we didn't even take it to go. Not even our kids who aren't picky at all wanted to eat. It's one of those places where they go to cash n' carry and just throw the food together no thought, no skill, no time and effort put into the meals. It was a huge disappointment. Service? None. Decent, decent. Being from Hawai'i, my default meal when traveling is a good ol' bento. One of my friends, also from HI, also living in Puyallup, had told me that she and her girlfriend had enjoyed this spot. And I was genuinely excited to try. I got a couple of bentos for takeout. Both with nigiri sushi, one with shrimp tempura, and the other with tonkatsu. I thought it was rather pricey for what you get, and the bento was mid at best. The tempura wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but definitely leaned more on the oily side. This is to the point where I had a bout of indigestion over it overnight :( the nigiri was far from fresh, which makes me sound like a spoiled princess, but I could not do it LOL The tonkatsu was okay. It was on the drier side. Grateful to have gotten this spot off my checklist, but no thank you for the future :/ read more

I've been eating here for awhile, so a review is overdue! I love their sushi compared to other sushi places in the area. It's always fresh and consistent. My favorite is the Prince Roll. My partner loves the yummy yummy roll :) I've dined in, but consistently do take out from here. I just call and it usually takes 15 mins for my sushi rolls. I give the sushi a 5 stars. The 4 stars is for the other food items I've tried there. I had the chicken katsu and chicken teriyaki there, one time and one time only. The chicken katsu was overcooked and the teriyaki was okay, but I've had better in the area. Overall, nice place to have a quiet date night alone or with your family. Best chicken katsu I have ever had! Super crispy but not dry and the sauce that came with it complimented it well. I can't say much inside the restaurant itself as I ordered DoorDash but food was still hot when I received it. They did a good job sealing it. Portions are very generous. Food is very average. Sometimes it's decent, but the last time I ordered to go, my katsu was overfried and burnt to the point it was like eating burnt crackers. Why would anybody serve that to customers unless they want to lose business? When the food is cooked right, it's a 5/10 because the food is okay, but I make better katsu at home. read more

Drove by and saw the signage, it's sits off of meridian a ways near Walmart. The staff was very friendly and checked on our table multiple times. The menu is extensive with a fantastic selection of of flavors, styles and options. The prices are comparable to others spots in the area with portion sizes that leave you full but not stuffed. A nice sushi spot when you're in the area! I come here when I'm really craving sushi because happy bento's portion sizes really fill me up. Prices I'd say are 4/5, you usually get what you pay for and a little more. The service is fine as well, they come to check in on you every once in a while. Not too much of customer service but that's not something I care about too much. The space in of itself is pretty chatty and dim. I'd come for an early dinner but not for date night. Oh so disappointed after todays to-go order. We ordered the special combos mongolian beef & orange chicken, and teriyaki chicken and sweet and sour chicken. Also an order of chicken katsu, some cream cheese rangoons and egg rolls. The rice with all 3 orders was super old and dry. Stuck together as if it was scraped from the bottom of the rice pot, or the top layer that got dried out. Either way, terrible. The orange and sweet and sour chickens were inedible. So overcooked that they were like chewing leather. We chewed til we couldnt chew anymore and then had to spit out the wad of "meat" that wasnt edible. Chicken teriyaki was just overcooked dry and barely sauced. The mongolian beef tasted good, but was tough and had a lot of gristle in it. The chicken katsu was dry and overcooked. My kid could barely bite a piece off with his teeth. The rangoons (4 for 8.99!) were terrible! Barely any filling, and the wrapper was so thick that the outside edges were almost stale and so hard, yet the inside of the wrappers were still raw and doughy. Egg rolls were just okay, but nothing was actually wrong with them. For a $75 to go order, this was unacceptable and it all ended up in the trash as inedible (except the eggrolls, those got eaten at least.) We will never return. Such a waste of money for terrible food. read more

The bento box surprisingly comes with quick a bit of food and lasted about two meals for me. The food overall was pretty good! I like the variety of veggies for the tempura. The California roll was nice and big and filling. The salmon teriyaki was nicely cook and I wish it was a little bigger with more rice on the side. read more

Well, what can I say about heavy Bento? I will say this they have a wonderful ambience and their service is amazing! The food is made really fast and the portions are fairly good sized! I am not one to comment on sushi because I don't really eat it but friends of mine say that it is good when they go with me. I enjoy the fried rice and teriyaki dishes, as well as the Chinese dishes just about all of them I have had have been great! The sake is also delicious and good on a cold day as it will warm you up inside! I definitely go here often. read more
