Got the apple fritter and maple donut and it was delicious :) Their coffee is a press pot, but I haven't tried it. This joint is next to the 8 bus stop, so it's convenient. This place had always been around in my neighborhood for years, so I decided to purchase 4 dozen variety donuts to bring into work. I called the day before to place the order for pick-up, and the woman was more than accommodating over the phone. She gave me a quote as well as the option of packing them all in a big box. It was $20 per dozen. When I picked them up, parking was a little tight out front, so I parked at the Grocery Outlet next door. The woman was courteous enough to carry the donuts to my car. SCAM ARTIST WHO SELL cold DOUGHNUTS Unless you know these people on a first name basis your gonna be overcharged. They have special doughnuts that make a $14 dozen turn into a $25 dollar box of doughnuts. When I asked which ones are special they basically point to random doughnuts and I told them that's a scam to be stating on the menu it's $14 then charge $25. My grandmother has taken me to this donut shop as a kid and when I tell you my expectations for other donut shops are so high, I mean it. As an adult, the fact the donuts taste the exact same brings so much joy in my heart. I even argue with my man that NO OTHER DONUT SHOP TOPS BAYSHORE HAPPY DONUTS and I mean it. He finally tried it for the first time and immediately knew exactly why I always defend this donut shop LOL. Highly disappointed!!!! I use to love this place until today. I ordered a maple bar, bagel with cream cheese and bacon, and a Mocha. Guys I kid you not I found a dead bug in my donut. Called them and told them I wanted a refund for everything because I don't eat any food from a restaurant or shop once I find something wrong with it. Why did the lady tell me that there was nothing wrong with the bagel and she would only give me 3 dollars for the donut after she found another bead bug in the donut and 5 dollars for the bagel and the donut when I paid 12.5 for everything. The Mocha was 4 dollars. Tell me who would eat anything from the same place they found bugs in their food. Not me; I almost throw up in her face and I told the person behind me not to order anything from there. I wish I could give them zero stars. read more

I started to feel like a good donut shop was going the way of the dinosaurs until I managed to stumble across Happy Donuts. Last (or 1st) stop on the T Train & you're there. The location may be a bit funky but the products offered are made pretty close to perfection. Pretty reasonable price point & a wide selection of hot & cold drinks, donuts & pastries makes this place stand out from the rest. If I was closer to the location it would be a daily ritual to stop by for donuts. Either way the times I have gone I was not disappointed by any stretch of the imagination. Overall this place is a great place to go if you're of African descent. Your money is always good here for sure. I have never had any issue at this establishment. The customer service has always been A+. As you can see from my other reviews I have not had the most pleasant experiences lately in The Bay Area so this location was definitely refreshing...However! I've been coming to this donut shop since I was a kid and I'm so thankful that all these years it still taste exactly the same! I love my donuts fluffy, thick and not too sweet! Happy donuts has all of my favorites! Parking is a bit of a hassle, I'd park either at the grocery outlet parking lot right next door if any there then walk not even more than a minute to the donut shop. The quality of the donuts tried was great, however I ordered one custard filled donut, and the custard was sour, as if it had gone bad (definitely wasn't combined with lemon, or anything else that should have been sour). Came in for a toasted bagel with egg and cheese. The bagel was microwaved and rubbery. There are 3 toasters right in front of me and they took the bagel to the back. I asked them to toast it and it came back toasted without cheese. They swear the cheese is in between the eggs. I didn't see it. I asked them for a slice of cheese and she had the nerve to ask me for 75 cents. Are you crazy! I paid for an egg and cheese bagel. Come here for the croissant sandwiches!!! I ordered the number 2. The boyfriend ordered the same but added bacon. You can share a sandwich if you choose to eat just right. Eat a whole one if you're hungry. The croissants are on the larger side and the cheese is melted onto the sausage, on top of that luscious egg. It just a hole in the wall donut shop on the corner of a street in the not so fancy neighborhood. But really this place makes me happy. YUM! read more

Happy is one of the quintessential mini donut chains in San Francisco that any good local knows and (hopefully) loves. Big fluffy donuts with classic flavor and classic prices. Average cost is around $1, made fresh every day and in abundance. What they do best are the traditional raised, old fashioned, and cake. The raised are big, yeasty, and a serious bang for your buck (probably two times the size of a Krispy Kreme), with the classic glazed being the true winner in my book. Their old fashioned donuts have the perfect amount of crisp with a touch of tang and all those fun little ridges you can break off along the side of the 'nut - the chocolate and maple are especially good. The cake donuts are soft and pillowy with a slight crunch on the outside and a bunch of different icings/topping to choose from - sprinkles, coconut, peanuts, etc. My only major complaint with this spot is their buttermilk bars aren't up to snuff. The other day while I was getting my teeth cleaned in Brisbane, all I could think of as the polishing brush swirled was one thing: DONUTS!!! Yeah, I know. How could I go to the dentist and then 5 minutes later scarf down a delicious, sugar-coated, calorie packed, buttery, cavity causing dessert? I walked into the dentist and watched the office manager (my dentist's wife) carry in 2 huge pink boxes of Donuts. I thought to myself, "If they can do it, so can I!" Happy Donut is right off 101 down Bayshore, which was conveniently right near where I used to work. Like the industrial shops close by, the place is a little on the gritty side. Impulsively (or if I slacked & didn't grab breakfast beforehand), I'd pull over and buy a couple dozen for the department. Like any hungry team that knows whats good for them, those donuts would be gone within 20 minutes. This is precisely why I got my sticky fingers on my top faves first: a maple old fashioned, a greasy muffin or two...and then put MINE in a separate bag--I'm generous, but not that generous! Sure you can order sandwiches and soup, but when the choice of a Donut or something healthy is up for debate, I go for the high sugar count. They also have a whole fridge full of beverages, but what goes best with donuts? Coffee! It's not gourmet, but it's a good cup for doing some dunking. I love this place! If you want a simple honest cup of coffee this is the place to go. Their columbian brew is a mild smooth blend that always hits the spot. They offer a rich cream for your coffee also which is pretty unique because most coffee spots nowadays only offer half and half and milk. The cream adds an extra layer of richnes to a cup of joe. I love their bacon croissant sandwiches. I usually add ketchup and tapatio to it. The croissant is delicious. Always nice, moist and prepared fresh everyday. Lastly, the people who run the place are an embodiment of the American dream. They're not friendly in the American sense. They're not going to yell out your name and ask you about your weekend the second you walk through the door. They are humble, demure. Yet their service is efficient and kind. Just like their clientele, the workers are immigrants who took a chance by moving to a far away place under the premise that hard work and perserverance might yeild a better life and greater oppurtunity. Its hard not to root for people like that. Happy Donut is run by a family of Cambodian immigrants but I always get a kick out of how a few workers have become comfortable with many spanish phrases. Happy Donut is truly the epitome of the American melting pot. If you ever actually do go to this place, I'll bet you'll have a hard time figuring out whats so special about it. Its usually pretty quiet and the actual store isn't anything special. But what makes Happy Donut special is a little more subtle.
