A neighborhood corner store + deli I've been frequenting for years! A true hidden gem in the city. Prices are slightly higher than average, but the sandwiches are hefty and can feed up to 2 people. Deli is on the left upon entering. Order there and grab a bag of chips + a drink from the store to enjoy with your sandwich! No matter what sandwich you choose from their extensive menu, Dutch crunch bread is a must. I like how their Dutch crunch has the perfect amount of crunch (satisfying, while not being too crunchy to the point where the roof of your mouth is scraped up). It's also not overly sweet compared to other Dutch crunch breads I've tried. I usually get either the Cali Club with provolone or the Oxbridge Special (formerly known as 2. Atomic 47 on their old menu; also isn't listed on their current menu board but it's listed on their GrubHub). The Cali Club is almost like an elevated BLTA. Perfect if you want a sandwich that's both hearty and fresh. The Oxbridge Special is mildly spicy and the roast beef in it is savory and juicy. I don't really care about service. I got the Warriors sandwich, it looked very promising when I opened it. It seemed like they gave fair portions for their price. But after two bites, the amount of salami was down to a slice thin, unlike the 3-4 slices thickness in the middle where they cut. When you got to the end there was no protein left. Also the Dutch crunch bread tasted pretty stale, definitely not freshly made. The only thing that was good was that all the vegetables tastes really fresh. Stopped here on our crosstown trail hike and it was the perfect spot for a filling lunch! I had heard great things about this spot but it still blew me out of the water. We got the buffalo bill sandwich on dutch crunch and it was a virtually perfect sandwich! We got it with no bbq sauce and on dutch crutch. The bread was so fantastic!! We particularly liked the coleslaw addition and the flavor of the roast beef. It was super flavorful and fresh. The sandwich is hearty enough to be shared between two people and the price is decent for what you get! The employees were so fun to talk to, and the market carries a large variety of everything you would need. From the deli, we ordered the Godmother, which was absolutely scrumptious. The sandwiches were extremely large, and I was able to split this easily with a friend and still feel full. I loved how generous they were with the amount of meat, and the flavors of everything together were super good. It was a fantastic sandwich. I highly recommend giving this place a try! Parking was really easy, but it is next to a school so I'd imagine pick up time gets pretty hectic. Cute convenience store with all the snacks, including an insane amount of ice cream choices. These guys are great! I've known this store since I was a teenager as this was my husband's neighborhood store. We called it "The blue store". But that was with Tom and Don. The "new" owners are very friendly. They definitely changed the look, set up, and feel in there. The sandwich counter was a significant upgrade with specialty sandwiches. Sandwiches are okay, but the atmosphere is a literal health hazard. I walked in and placed an order for 2 sandwiches with the man behind the counter. He told me it would be a few minutes, so while I waited, I went to the refrigeration section to pick out a couple of soft drinks. At that moment, I observed the same man confidently lighting a cigarette INDOORS, right in front of the deli counter. I cannot believe the audacity of this establishment to allow smoking indoors and continue to smoke while I wait in the cash register to be rung up. The smell of cigarette smoke was so overwhelming that it completely ruined my appetite at the time so I figured I'd wait to open it until I got home. I wanted to make sure the sandwich maker had a tip for his effort and wasn't punished for the misdeeds of the rude smoking cashier. But I also find it ridiculous that the lowest auto tip amount is 10% in a Bodega with no option to type your own. By the time my appetite returned, I was home.
